Another 5 Star review - these people are doing things right! I called at 7:25 AM though they don't open until 8 AM. David answered cheerfully on the first ring. I had the car in by 8:10 AM and was out the door within about an hour. I had had the transmission rebuilt about 7 years ago and 44k miles ago. I doubt I've done anything since. The fluid was I think low. I had a fluid change and they changed the filter. I think it was the original filter! OEM Saturn! It was filthy! How that didn't get changed in 2018....?? The service today was reasonably priced. David graciously listened to me blab and tell stories :). Carlos is a worker bee with hustle! Be sure to get a cup of coffee. After being told that our 1998 Ford Explorer Sport needed a new transmission by Ford, I called around for several quotes in the Hayward area, and Mike, the owner of Zoom Auto Transmission was the last person I spoke to. This place is great! I was having an issue and a mechanic said it was an issue with my transmission. Many places were charging $140-$250 to just check and I called Zoom. They were not available because the team was going through training so they were not able to help me but we did schedule a time for a time and offered a free estimate. I came and they confirmed the transmission needed to be replaced. They also provided me in detail what my car needed and the timeframe. The team had a family atmosphere where the daughter helped me the day I dropped off my car and the parents helped me when picking up my car. I checked with the vehicle manufacturer and my vehicle was still under warranty so I went back to the manufacturer. If I had to get this done it would totally be at Zoom! read more

My Audi Q7 transmission was due for a change in fluid. Called up Mike, he gave me a very reasonable price and time the service will be done. Did a diagnostic and test drove the car before doing the service. Handed him the keys. He gave me a call when it was done at the time he said it was going to be done. During the call he mentioned a couple of things that caught my attention. He said that my power steering fluid is leaking and should get checked (awesome cause I just filled it up from being really low) and that someone previously did a job on the transmission and that it was leaking. As for the transmission, I was only following what the maintenance booklet said to change the fluid and it may seem that I prevented something that could have been bad in the future. Also, they even took pictures of the power steering leak! Not to mention they took pictures of the transmission pan after the job was done before and after they took it for a test drive to see if any leakage occurred. Highly recommend. Great service. I had what I thought was a rear end noise in a truck I bought from back East. Thought I fixed it with a differential fluid change but it came back. Tried self diagnosing it over and over again. It would just happen uphill at highway speeds. Zoom took it out a for a few test drives, couldn't replicate as it wouldn't go up to speed. Thought it was a torque converter noise. They recommended a transmission service. Being that it likely never done I had them take care of it. 50 miles later, no more noise. And I had an issues with my 2004 Corvette, wasn't properly shifting through the gears as normal! Little did I know my shift solenoids had went bad! I thought I needed a transmission in my 2004 Nissan Frontier. I took it here to David at Zoom auto transmission. My truck has not been acting right. I recently had the fuel pump changed and that mechanic then suggested after changing the fuel pump is probably best to change the transmission. Now here I am at zoom auto transmission. I explained to David what has been going on with my truck. He asked if I live nearby he would be willing to give me a ride home so he can see if the truck would act up while we were in the car together. It did he told me he didn't think it was a transmission. He thinks there's something else going on. I'm still in the troubleshooting phase but I'm glad I didn't put a transmission in if I don't need it and for that I'm very grateful. I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado. I have had issues with it since I bought it. I had Chevrolet of Vallejo rebuild the transmission and it still never felt right. After a year and a half the tranny went out again. I took it to Zoom and they rebuilt it. It had to be worked on several times, but these guys searched and searched and found multiple problems that kept coming up. They persisted until it was perfect. I brought in my notoriously problematic 1999 Isuzu Trooper. I absolutely love this vehicle,but the automatic transmissions are garbage. When my Partner was originally calling around for quotes, she was very impressed felt extremely cared for when she first called. They are a family owned business. I really learned a lot about transmission costs shopping around. This company stayed with their quote they gave me in the beginning of $3700. Any other transmission shop that I took it to told me it was going to cost $5000 to $6000. I learned that they really did do a $5000 to $6000 job. To top it all off , I took my car in on a Friday, and got a call to come down and pick my car up 10:00 am Monday morning. The father /transmission mechanic /( owner) of the company and his son work together as a team . That really says a lot now days, they both are very generous and polite people. Couldn't ask for a more pleasant and honest experience!!! My 2003 Honda Odyssey's transmission suddenly failed on my way to work and I barely made it to the Hayward dealership. I was told I needed a new transmission and they quoted me the typical price you would expect to pay at a dealership. Too much for my blood considering the minivan is over 15 years old. I called a few places and eventually got a hold of David, the owner of Zoom Auto Transmission Center. He was courteous, helpful, informative, and HONEST from beginning to end. David had my minivan towed free of charge to his shop which was about 3 miles away from the dealership. He did his diagnostics and suck with the price he quoted me over the phone based on what I had told him the dealership said earlier. No attempt to jack up the price with bogus problems. David and his team installed a rebuilt transmission at half the price I would have paid at the dealership. There were a few bumps in the road which turned out to be related to the rebuilt transmission itself (not his fault) but each time he had to deal with a setback, he made no excuses and acted professionally and fairly when doing his best to resolve the problem. Each time, he completed his work at the promised time or sooner...keeping in contact with me along the way. I sincerely appreciate that David did not try to recover the labor costs of having to remove and replace the faulty rebuilt transmission two times. Other less honest mechanics would find a way to pin some cost on the customer to recover costs. Much RESPECT to David and his team for being honest and fair. Over 10K miles later, the Odyssey is running great and I can safely say that Zoom Auto is the way to go if you are looking to replace a transmission and don't want to pay dealership prices. I got stranded on I880 when I was supposed to ship my car to Virginia and fly out that same day. My clutch had failed and I was towed to Zoom auto. Mike offered a complete diagnostic for free of charge. He went the extra mile of working after hours to get the job done as quickly as possible and since I didn't want to reschedule my flight, he even agreed to communicate and coordinate with my shipper, drove my car to the drop off point, performed the pre pickup inspection and signed off the pickup on my behalf. I received my car 6 days later in Virginia in perfect condition. All these service for no extra charge at all. I should simply say I was totally impressed all these value addition he gave me. This transmission shop did not do a good full rebuilt of my transmission. I dropped off my car at this transmission shop to be rebuilt just the transmission At the time I still had a remaining balance to pay him by certain date He gave the car back to me with a balance still owed the contract of the receipt says a certain amount of miles or a certain amount of months Now mind you I still owed him and next thing you know my car gives out as in transmission problems once again so at this point the car is still under warranty by his paper work he gave us but he did not want to touch the car unless I finish paying him so at this point my argument was finished the car transmission the right way and I will finish paying you But zoom transmission Told me before he made a decision on everything else that he did not want to touch my car again because he knew he was wrong because now he cannot rebuild a rebuilt transmission he owes us a new transmission at this point He gave me a price that had everything To do with fixing the problem and then comes up with an extra amount saying my car needed this part in order to function right So my argument to that was why didn't he say that in the beginning I was under the impression that I only had to pay a certain amount for him to fix my car now he came out with a different amount as he was fixing my car So to avoid this he should have said you know what let me inspect your car first and It'll cost this amount of money for me to inspect it if you'd like to proceed then that amount will go towards the whole fix of the car But no he didn't do that way he just wanted to get my car in and wanted my money and then charge me more as he was fixing my car so at that point I decided to pick up my car like I said I still owed him but my car was still under the warranty from his paperwork he gave us when it got messed up he did not want to fix it he didn't wanna do nothing with the car because he knew he couldn't rebuild a transmission that was already rebuilt and also because I stilled owed money but like I said to him if you so possibly fixed the car then why is it not working still? So my argument was fix the car the right way this time and I will finish paying you because I paying you for a service that was never performed the right way and by law they have to put in a new transmission in As I cannot rebuild a transmission they already rebuilt At this point he knew he was going to come out of pocket on this one so that's why also I think he wanted to refuse the car Even though it was still under his warranty now the dealership said That it looks like it got rebuilt but not fully rebuilt They see old parts mixed with new parts in the transmission And also they found metal shavings in my transmission not the transmission lines but in my transmission now that's why my transmission went out. Because it was not fully rebuilt. So the dealership gave me an estimate that was three times more than what the shop had charged me so once again I don't recommend this shop to the public read more

She leaves that up to the experts. David offers free estimates, he very knowledgable and most important he's reasonable and honest! I took my wife's prized 2000 CLK 430 to his shop. We had previously been informed we needed to have the transmission replaced due to the miles (163 K) and the computer codes. Luckily the codes were printed by the previous shop I was at. Since they were cleared after the initial test. Once I arrived at Zoom, I told them the issues we were having and the other recommendation we had received. They conducted their on test, it came back clear with no issues. We were experiencing intermittent surging. So David took it out for a test drive and came back with no issues at this time. He suggested that we drive it and if and when the issue arises to bring it back. I mentioned that I have the codes prior to them being cleared! After reviewing the codes David was able to diagnose that the speed sensors were bad. Which is common for our car at it age and miles! I left the car with him on a Saturday it was ready and fixed by Tuesday as promised. For about a 1/4 of what it would have cost to replace the transmission as we were being advised was necessary! This is really a great place. Friendly and helpful. I had a multiple misfire problem with my car. I tried to fix it myself, but I didn't have the right tools to diagnose the problem. So, I went to pep boys and was going to pay $50 for them to diagnose the problem for me. After dropping it off, and waiting 3-4 hours for them to find the problem, they called and told me that they couldn't get the car to misfire and they actually found a transmission problem, and recommended I take it to a transmission shop. So I saw zoom auto and decided to try them out. I talked to the owner, and he helped me with my car first hand. We took it for a drive test, and he found out that it actually DOES have a misfire problem, and recommended i try to replace the ignition coil. Obviously, pep boys did not take it for a test drive because as soon as we hit the road it jerked and puttered and drove like shit. I replaced the coil on my own, and it fixed my problem. Although they are a transmission shop and doesn't work on engines, They where still able to help me with my car and I am very pleased. read more

I have a 94 Plymouth Grand Voyager AWD. Long on the tooth and it had a serious problem with the rear drive line. I don't plan on owning this vehicle for much longer and need it for work.
