You are not here because of the ambiance. It is not a fern bar. It has been here at least since 1977, to my knowledge, and maybe earlier. It is the kind of bar you might think of when you say, "You can't do all day drinking unless you start in the morning." It is safe, it is clean and it does have a killer steak sandwich - the very best in Greenville. And a pretty darned good Reuben. Portions are large, generous even for the $15 price tag (roughly) and fries are abundant in both number and thickness - the kind of "steak fry" you might imagine. Crisp, fluffy and a lot of them. This meal, whichever sandwich choice you make, is a two mealer potential, meaning, you could eat it for two separate and satisfying meals. That includes the Club Sandwich and maybe even the Baby Club Sandwich. But, there are a group of regulars that are eating lunch at the bar. The seating is 4 x 4 tops. 5 X 2 tops, about 15 barstools on a long J-shaped bar. Today's lunch had the 5 regulars at the bar for lunch, 2 random carry-out customers, two separate individuals at the two tops and 2 at a 4 top plus our party of two. A decent crowd, but not crowded. The bartender is the server and she did a good job, but the sass is included in a fun way. We arrived at 12:15P on a Tuesday, got water and order placed by 12:19 and food arrived by 12:34 - yes, Yelpers, I did time it because that is important for a lunch review! As mentioned, the food is the star. Why only four stars - well this is the kind of place that has not changed interior decor since the late 70's, and although it is no longer the smoke filled lounge that it once was, it still bears a strong resemblance to that bygone time and that may be a turn off for the more refined or discerning type (like my wife). But it is what it is setting out to be - a bar bar - not a fern bar. read more

This late night neighborhood bar and hang out has changed over the years. I keep hearing about the food they're serving now so I finally made it back 25 years later. I've lived here in Greenville for over 20 years and this was my first time eating here. When you walk in it reminds you of being downstairs in your uncle's basement. Old school decor that was cool and comfortable. They literally give you more than what you pay for. I was told that they're known for their ribeye steak sandwiches. If you look up the definition of a dive, you'll find Zorba's listed. This joint is located in a strip mall, but do not let that detour you as the food SLAPS! The inside is a blast from the past.. they have carpet but it aids in the experience, so don't be deterred. I enjoyed the steak sandwich, but I added peppers, mushrooms, and provolone. The sandwich is served on an onion roll (like the yummy ones from Arby's) and honestly it pulls the flavors together in just the right way. If you order the sandwich plate, it is served with fries and a "bowl" of salad. The salad is ginormous and is served with homemade dressing- but I caution you to save room for the main course!! The only flaw about this place is that they charge for every add on- but on the upside you can order singular items because of this! Want a single chicken strip, they got you? I enjoyed a nice morning of shopping with my sister at Sam's Club, then lunch at Zorba Lounge at her suggestion. I had never heard of Zorba Lounge, and didn't know where it was located. I have driven past this strip many times, and never noticed this hidden "gem". I found out later today, that it's not so much a hidden gem to other members of my family. Two of my siblings and several of my nieces have dined there. My sister told me while we were eating that " back in the day" this place use to stay open until 2 am, and it was their go to place for food after going to the "club". Zorba Lounge isn't a very big or fancy place, it's a lounge with some very good food. I ordered a club sub, fries and a coke to drink. The club sub is a hot sub, served on a crusty sub roll loaded with turkey, ham, cheese, crispy bacon, lettuce tomato and mayo. I ordered a small order of fries after reading many reviews about the huge order of fries. The small order of my fries were falling off the plate. They were hot and crispy, tender on the inside. The serving of food is huge, the fries were delicious and so was the sub club. If you've never tried Zorba Lounge, please try this place out, I'm already looking forward to my sister and I visiting again soon, and it's always nice to spend time with family. read more

It is what it is -- good food, good pricing, good service. It's a blue collar place, not close to being modern. You go there to drink or eat or both. This isn't a dining experience, though. But, you'll leave satisfied and you will come back. I know I will. If you are on a low card, high protein nutritional plan, the menu features a Ribeye Steak or Hamburger Steak served without anything more. Both are excellent, you are not wasting food yolk not eat and the price reflects that. They didn't earn the 5th Star because the ambiance, though clean, is dated and, quite frankly, old. Went here for Friday lunch with coworkers. This place is the definition of a "hole in the wall." Nestled between a few business places in a strip mall, there is a tiny grungy bar behind two oak doors. Inside, there is an eclectic mix of furniture from the 60's, 70's, and 80's and handwritten signs on mirrored walls. Walking past, you'd think it was nothing, but the inside was absolutely packed out with people. This packed restaurant was serviced by a single waitress/ bartender. It was impressive seeing her run between the tables and the bar, taking orders, making drinks, and serving food. Though she was busy, she was there whenever you needed anything. The food was good! I ordered the hamburger steak hamburger and a side of fries. It wasn't the best burger I've ever had, but it was tasty. Where they blew me away was the portions... it was a 16 oz patty that was double the size of the bun it was on, and the fries were stacked to high heaven. I had more than half my food left after being entirely full. And it was incredible how much food you got for the price. I've paid much more for a much less satisfying burger. I'd go here again late night for a couple drinks and bar food, but maybe not as a business lunch spot. read more

Tucked away in the same rather unremarkable strip center as the Spinx Corporate offices is a true hidden gem, Zorba Lounge. Easy to miss if you're not looking closely at the corner of Washington and Laurens Road, look for the "temporary" blue sign at the top (it's been temporary for a while). If you're a first-timer, don't bother to look at the menu. Just order the steak sandwich. It's the best in GVegas, and like EVERYTHING else on the menu, it is huge. It's available on a onion bun with mayo only for $12.95, other condiments extra. You can add fries for $3, but just get the half order, they pour off the edge of the plate there are so many. You could also get the steak sandwich sub ($13.95), which comes on a hoagie roll and already has mayo, grilled peppers, grilled onion, mushrooms and provolone- just the half fries, it still will end up out on the table. My colleagues chose the half chef salad (all you could need at $10.75) and the Reuben ($8.75), which is appropriate only if you've already had the steak sandwich on a previous trip. Be patient with Susan behind the bar, on our recent Tuesday visit (and most other days) she was on her own and literally running to keep up with orders for the whole place.
