Zorba's has hands-down the best Texas-Hots in the Buffalo area. The Texas sauce is a work of art. Now, I will admit that it isn't the prettiest restaurant in the world, but I think we can all get past that once we taste the Texas sauce. It has a great flavor that I can't quite identify, but the sauce is good enough to eat by itself. if you stop in at 3:00 AM on a Saturday it will be full of loud drunks but when I'm coming home late that doesn't stop me. It's my favorite late night food option, despite the drunken antics often prevalent. Maybe some day I will get around to trying something other than Texas-Hots or french fries here, but I haven't so I can't comment on the other menu items. But once you try the Texas sauce at Zorba's you will be hooked. read more

Zorba's has been catering our work party for the kickoff of summer for a quite a few years now. Everyone is always excited and many more people show up than a usual work day. They cook up burgers and dogs on the grill and bring the deep fryer for freedom fries. And I can't forget to mention the chili which is the best. It's not watery like most chili around here. The staff cooking are in a great mood and happy to be there. Can't wait for next year!!! I'll have to check out the actual restaurant when I'm in the area. read more

Zorba's is a small fast food style diner. The staff that I interacted with was very friendly and courteous. In fact if I was to judge this place specifically on service it would be a 5 star review. I liked the burger I got, it was good. The fries reminded me of what one used to get at Burger King. like a shoestring potato dipped in Crisco. This was definitely a turn off. I also ordered the "Zorba's" sauce as a side and was sadly disappointed. It tasted like bland Hormel chili. I really wanted to give this place a 4 star, because of the service, but the food was mediocre at best. They are inexpensive though and should be considered. I've eaten here twice and gotten breakfast both times. The first time I got two eggs over easy and bacon and toast. We took it to go. When I got home I noticed I had 3 eggs. Turns out they overcooked one so they just gave me all three. I thought that was some good customer service. Then my boyfriend and I went last Sunday for breakfast. He ordered a bacon and egg omelette (no cheese). when she brought our food out to us - she apologized that the guys put cheese on it and said they were currently making another one if he didn't want that one. He said it was fine, they didn't have to go to the trouble. While we were eating she came over to apologize again and gave him a gift card. For $10! That was almost both of our meals together! Stopped here while on Transit Rd as I'm moving into the area and after hauling boxes around all day had a hunger. Walked in and noticed the sign that said Cash Only which I thought was odd for a restaurant but wasn't a big deal as I had cash on me at the time, however if you're visiting it might be worth knowing so you don't go unprepared. I ordered the Texas Prairie Platter as I was HUNGRY and it consisted of 2 chopped hot dogs on a bed of French fries with Mustard, Chees and Zorba's sauce. I watched them making it from my seat and did notice that they put my plate in the microwave which was disappointing but I truly believe it was to melt the cheese so i'll give them a pass. It was ready in less than 10 minutes and was tasty, not the classiest of food and my arteries will be mad at me for this one but it's exactly what I wanted and good hearty food. Zorbas.... what else is there to say about the place, other than it is awe-some! :) The food is crazy cheap so if you can't decide on what to get, you *could* try a bit of everything! Okay, well maybe not everything, but a few things. The place is a bit small, but there is a parking lot and I have always managed to find a seat inside. I don't know the hours during the week, but I believe they are open 24 hours on the weekend. When inside, you order up front and then they bring the food over to your when it is ready. Everything is good here... I enjoy that you can get breakfast sandwiches all day, they are tasty. The burgers are quite good and the fries are always cooked perfectly. I had a friend that I used to come here a lot with and I miss them, but I guess we are on different paths now. Maybe they will sometime cross again, but until or if that day comes, I will return to Zorba's with fond memories and a strong desire for a sausage breakfast sandwich on a bagel... or a burger... or a texas hot. :) read more

I don't get it? Maybe it's because I got a cheese and bacon hot dog rather than the Texas hots, but I wasn't blown away. It was yummy, but the hot dogs are boiled and the buns not warmed or grilled or anything. I could have made this meal at home. Easily. However, prices are CHEAP. Great little hole in the wall to grab a quick bite for dirt cheap. This place pulls no punches and delivers exactly what you expect. You want a burger, you got a burger. You want a hot dog, you got hot dog. The list goes on. They don't try to be something their not, which is something I can appreciate in a restaurant. We lived a few blocks from this magnificent place when I was a kid. My parents would get take out from here all the time. And now, 20 some years later, literally nothing has changed and it's still amazing and perfect. They serve Texas hots, a variety of fried foods, burgers etc for lunch and dinner and also have a breakfast menu. The prices are very reasonable. Their meat sauce is described as the sauce of the Gods. They have the best french fries I have ever eaten in my life. Shoestring, hot and crispy and served in a paper bag. They have some tables inside, maybe a dozen. You order at the counter and if you are dining in they bring your food out to your table when it's ready. They are cash only. They don't have a sign posted but they do have an atm inside if you find yourself without cash. I have since moved out of the area but every time I find myself out that way we stop for some deliciousness. So happy this place has not changed!! read more

Normally they are really good but today plain and simple they sucked. Waited quite a while to get our food . Came up to counter and wanted to know what the problem was . I think the problem is they prioritize the call in orders . Here is a novel thought : take care of the people who are actually in the Resturant . This is not the friendliest place you will walk into as they are usually in the middle of a rush in business. A diner famous for their "Sliders" that is a hot dog with a unique meat sauce, french fries in a small brown bag and large size burgers that although you pay more, attract you away from the fast food chains. Plenty of seating with outdoor in better weather, a wait during rush and you have a good breakfast, lunch or snack at evening. Late hours on weekends. First, let me start by saying I usually LOVE Zorbas, everything is always great, but today not so much. There were 2 gentlemen in the back cooking, 1 on the grill wearing gloves, and another gentleman preping food and getting orders ready without gloves. Now I was so grossed out when I witnessed the man without gloves literally handle hotdogs and toppings for the hotdogs without gloves. The food was for a go-to order. As a person with a compromised immune system this can be extremely dangerous, even life threatening. The germs that are being spread, cross contamination of food, is just unacceptable. The health department would surely cite this restaurant if they were to walk in. When brought to the attention of staff, they kindly remade our food with gloves, but didn't really seem to care about possible repercussions for not wearing gloves. The kicker to this is that on the way out, the man had taken off his gloves that he put on to make our food after we said something and continued to make other people's food without gloves!!!!! read more

oh. my. shitty. canoe. heaven. what Zorba's does to a texas hot should be illegal, but i'm so glad that it isn't. the texas sauce is a blend of spicy, beefy yumminess, and the french fries are the perfect vehicle for even more of said sauce on the side. (by the way, did you know that you can take pints of that sauce home with you?? you can. do it...you know you wanna.) the atmosphere has definitely improved since their small renovation/clean up a couple of years ago, but you should definitely expect a diner/greasy spoon atmosphere here -- but very clean atmosphere. and the place is almost always hopping, especially around the breakfast hours, because there are some killer breakfast specials. overall, the price point here can't be beat. they even have a buy 5 get the 6th free special that runs everyday. In the battle for hot dog domination in Buffalo, Zorba's sliders win without a contest. Some may argue the merits of char-grilled versus boiled, but for me, it's really all about the condiments. A hot dog by itself is not a flavor explosion. Zorba's Texas Hot sauce is amazing. I had an aunt who worked at a Texas Hots franchise in Wellsville, NY, and the key to a great meat sauce is time. A gigantic vat of beef, onions, chili powder...and magic? I never got the recipe from her, which is okay, because Zorba's is fifteen minutes away. Call them slime dogs, call them sliders, call it a garbage plate, it's all the same enchanted amalgamation of beef, onions and a few choice spices. At Zorba's, you can get six hot dogs and one for free for a little less than $14. You won't have to eat for the rest of the week. They're spicy, juicy and there's no doubt that they're horrible for you, but that's what fast food is all about. They've got incredible milkshakes too that they serve in a large metal cup like the old days if you're eating sit down. The french fries are crispy and you can order a small (which is a reasonable amount of fries for the average human being) or a large, which resembles a silo of potatoes that were shoe-stringed, fried and stuffed into a brown paper sack for your convenience. The service is not great, which is why I only scored them at three stars. The word surly springs to mind. I called in my order clearly and concisely and the person taking my order was short with me. When I arrived to pick up my takeout order, three servers milled about comically behind the register to avoid taking care of me and it wasn't that busy at all. Granted, this is not the sort of place where you expect white glove treatment, but something that resembled customer service would have been nice. The Texas Hots will keep me coming back a few times a year anyway. When you're in the mood for a 'garbage plate', a sloppy breakfast or a late night snack with more calories than a seven course meal, there's no substitute in Depew. As for 'bang for the buck' or late night, post weekend drinking night, I could see Zorba's being my 'go to' spot if I was a local. Many establishments close shop pretty early in town from my experience here. This review is abit abridged, I already ate lunch day of visit, but was leaving town. Passed by for a dog to sample the hot sauce, and it didn't disappoint. It's good, like a sloppy joe sauce. Very flavorful and meaty, but not hot spice wise as I would have imagined.. The dog and bun dropped the ball here, for my tastes. They didn't really have the bold enough flavor or kick to offset the sauce, and were not much different than had I boiled a dog at home.. Not biased towards the local char grill dogs either, since Nathan's Original in Coney Island is my favorite.. Under the sauce, there was no synergy, just all sauce flavor.. In retrospect, I think the sauce may be better served laddled over an open bun cheeseburger, chili con carne style.. Definitely will stop by next Buffalo visit on empty stomach to sample more of Zorba's. read more
