I was in Rockville Center, NY in advance of a family Wedding and since I had no ideas about what to eat with my folks we trusted the concierge at the Hampton Inn & Suites when they recommended the nearby Zou Chinese Restaurant for some tasty takeout. When in a different locality from your own it never hurts to ask the locals about what they like when its time to eat. After perusing the menu, we all settled on orders of General Tso's Chicken, Shrimp LoMein and Chicken with Broccoli. The dinner combinations also included an egg roll and I guess one can swap this for a soup of some kind but it was far too hot for soup. The order was placed and we were told about 30 minutes. That ended up to being closer to an hour but the driver apologized and said it was very busy and he faced a bit of traffic. It was a Friday evening at Rush Hour so its not his fault at all. We sat in the dining room area of the Hilton and dug into our respective meals. We were all too hungry to be swapping samples with one another and made short work of all the dishes. I loved my Tso's chicken and the folks enjoyed their orders as well. They live down South now and said that this was some of the best Chinese takeout that they have had in years. Truth be told, having sampled some of the South Carolina fare, it is good but still doesn't come close to the New York version. This might have been a one and done experience for me because I don't really get to Rockville Centre all that much if at all, so the chance to order from Zou is quite a rarity. However, with that being said, if you are in the region and seeking something to sate your palate they did this properly and are a high recommendation. Nice work Team Zou. I got a soup today on my lunch break from this place it was called Roast Pork and wonton soup and I after eating for about 10 minutes I added more broth starting stirring it and at the top of my soup by the bukcoy was a tiny GREEN CATAERPILLER!!! I took it out and put it in a different container left work just to bring it back to show them that they had a BUG in my soup. They were very apologetic gave me my money back which okay thanks but then the lady who works there continues to say it's probably apart of the vegetable and I said no that's a bug. I received a menu and notification of a new Chinese and Thai restaurant and had an occasion to give them a try. We ordered the Spicy Chicken Fried Rice with basil and the Shrimp Egg Foo Young. The food arrived in about 20 minutes, when quoted 35, so that was good. We also found both dishes to be quite tasty and the egg foo young fresh. My only complaint is the portion sizes. They put 3 pieces of egg foo young and my experience is to get four. I would order again though since I found the egg foo young to be better than similar restaurants nearby and not full of grease I am updating my review to reflect a night that we picked the food up and noticed a number of roaches. That really turned my stomach. I don't think I'll be eating here again although the food was good, the sight of roaches inside the establishment on the counter is a real downer. We decided to try a new place tonight for Thai and Chinese food. This was a great choice! Delivery was precise, and arrived early and hot. The menu had so many great choices, we tried the Tom Kha Gui soup (chicken coconut on the menu), pad thai chicken, beef pineapple fried rice, shrimp with black bean sauce, cheese wontons, egg roll, sesame chicken, egg foo young, brown rice and thai salad. Each dish was flavorful and well made. Also, important for delivery, every dish was well packaged. We enjoyed the meal. My favorite was the pineapple fried rice and chicken coconut soup. It's a wonderful new neighborhood take-out Thai Chinese Resturant that is excellent! This was the third time we ate here. The food was great. We started today with Tom Kha Gai soup, then we had a mixed seafood with fresh noodles that was outstanding along with steamed green vegetables. Followed with beef with asparagus. My dad came home with Zou Chinese and Thai one day and made me try some Pad Thai and sesame chicken. I was very reluctant to try it since most Chinese food in the area are not that good. I grudgingly accepted and ate the Pad Thai and i instantly fell in love with Pad Thai and sesame chicken. I never looked at food the same ever again. Ever since then, I beg my dad to come and order again and I have tried many if not all the items on the menu. The wonton soup is made w/ chicken instead of pork, but to be honest is lacking in flavor The spare ribs are great, but we always wipe some of the sauce off otherwise to messy to eat.
