    Golden Lentil Soup

The service was great Maury was really helpful and was friendly! The ambiance is nice we love how cozy it is and how open it is... the food was delicious as well we love the dirty fries it is one of our favorite at zov's and the beef kebob was amazing as well!!! We got the trio kebob where you have to choose your own meat and we chose beef and loolah! We love the beef but the loolah wasn't as tasty! The price of the trio kebob was a little bit expensive but it was good for 4 people! We liked the golden lentil soup which was very tasty and the chicken harissa! I wish there was more sauce on the chicken as it tends to be on the dry side, we do love the fingerlings potatoes on it as well!!! I do recommend this restaurant!!! Hope to try more items in their menu!!!

Food is great but feels a bit overpriced. Servers are nice and attentive. The eggplant fries are yummy.

First time here. Our server, Whitney, did an amazing job. We got great service. TJ help assisted us with the air conditioning. Thank you TJ and Whitney for outstanding service. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. There is live music here! Nice touch. Place is beautifully decorated. Everyone who works here, works hard. Thank you Zov's team! The food was a big portion and absolutely delicious. Definitely will come back when I come back to Orange County!! Beautiful service and food! Thank you Zov's team!!

Tucked away in one of Irvine's northern villages, Zov's on Portola is a lovely spot for families, first dates, or just to hang out. Live music on Friday and Saturday adds a great ambiance for those dining on the patio or inside. We always sit at the bar so we get the best of all worlds. Trish, a long time bartender, always provides the friendliest and sassiest service, and makes AMAZING drinks, from Old Fashionds to Spicy Pineapple Margaritas. Some of the starters could easily be mains, such as the salmon tacos or steak tostadas, which NEVER break at the first bite and always hold their texture. The economy has hit this location, as the amount of steak on the tostadas went from a lot to just crumbs, but still yummy with lots of fresh veggie toppings. Highly recommend if you want a mellow evening and great food/service.

    Affogato, special order;)

Yes a must try! I love a short rib, they have short rib pappardelle and YESS its killer good. Also had lamb chops medium rare and babaganoush, exquisite. They were kind enough to make me an affogato even though it's not even on the menu THANK YOU! Got there just before sunset, sat inside, it was cozy, service was wonderful.. They suggested the lamb chops and I'm glad they did!!

The food was really good! We got the kebob plate and sea bass. I'm not sure if the food was interesting or amazing enough to justify the price, but it was very good. Portions weren't huge but still filled us up. The live music was lovely- we went on a Friday night. Side note- There seemed to be a small gnat problem unfortunately when we were there. Yvette was our excellent server who took great care of us and made our anniversary very special! The "Ridiculous Sundae" was soooo delicious. Overall I do recommend this place!

we were group of 12. Food was simply amazing, and what was even greater, was the customer service and the warm welcoming attitudes of everyone working there!! It totally felt like we were having special dinner at a close friend's house. What a lovely experiance!

It's pretty far from home, but I…read morecould easily work it into the flight path so to speak, between the Tustin REI and 17th Street in Costa Mesa. Located in a small but busy plaza, HOK is a small, potentially packed restaurant with a few tables outside. About half full mid afternoon on a Saturday, i got a table and quickly made a decision to try the combination plate with a chicken and kubideh kabob, with rice. Next time I'll branch out, but this first sample provided much pleasure and evidence that they can't do anything wrong (except be closed when I'm craving more ;) A few minutes after placing my order the warm flatbread came out with butter. Comparatively, many other Persian restaurants use Lavash sections, so I enjoyed the contrast. The neighboring table of four received their plates one at a time, so I figured the kitchen and grill were probably also fairly constricted like the lobby. Nonetheless, it didn't take long and the generous, colorful portions were a sight to behold! The first thing I noticed was how moist and tender both kabobs were. Not burnt or dry anywhere on either type. That's attributable to the elevated method of grilling, but here the chef has it down to a science. The second observation came later when I didn't feel excessively thirsty, or bloated, ir dehydrated. Some restaurants really brine the meat while marinating, but here it's another level of perfection. Good service and a reasonable price, although the menu prices might be behind current food costs. Still, it was totally worth it. I didn't have a way to keep leftovers in a safe temperature range, so I ate everything. Full, but not stuffed.

Super friendly staff and clean inside. Food: got the…read morechicken kabob, eggplant appetizer and side salad. Was amazing, fresh and authentic. So happy I found this place so I can support local family owned business.

A lot of people I trust have raved about it, and I'm glad I gave it a shot. Our server, Leyla, was great. She took orders for 6 people entirely from memory without a single mistake, all while staying kind, attentive, and composed during a busy service. The food was excellent. The tahdig was crispy, and the stews were rich and homemade, easily some of the best I've had. The koobideh kabob was flavorful and cooked very well, and the chicken barg was equally good. For dessert, the faloodeh had a good balance of rose water, and the Persian ice cream was just as good. I really enjoyed everything about this place and will absolutely be back.

The first time, the service and quality of the…read morePersian food were not impressive, but their outdoor seating is nice, so we decided to give it another shot. Unfortunately, it was a mistake. Despite a sign saying 'Wait to be seated,' there was no hostess present. After 5 minutes of waiting, a busboy who didn't speak English attempted to seat us without welcoming us. He barely communicated that no seats were available outside, and when I asked what the wait time was, he could not answer. I found the manager, a Persian lady in her 50s, and asked if she could tell me when an outside table would be available. In a surprisingly snarky tone, she snapped in Farsi, 'You're asking me for the impossible, how do I know how long it's going to take for them to be done? Do *you* know how long it's going to take for them to be done?' I was shocked. Obviously, the answer to a question like this is a standard 15 to 25 minutes of wait time, but unfortunately, she chose a much harder and completely unnecessary response pattern. I told her that this is no way to speak with a customer and started to walk away, choosing to take our business to Caspian Restaurant instead. Unbelievably, she then yelled after me, 'Excuse me, I asked you a question, why are you walking away?' to which, of course, I did not respond. I feel everybody should know about this because a restaurant in such an expensive location needs customer service as its foundation to get repeat clients. It's very unfortunate that this happens to restaurants where the owners are silent and hire the wrong managers--managers who can't handle stress well, or who feel their outdated customer support still holds up in 2026. Unless they change their management style and make a visible change, I would strongly discourage anyone from needing to experience the same.

Before you visit, keep these things in mind: 1. This is a ghost kitchen, not a full-service restaurant. It's best for takeout and delivery. There are only a few chairs outside--just four in total. 2. Ordering is entirely self-service via a digital kiosk, with no staff on hand to assist you. 3. There are no bathrooms available anywhere on-site. Regarding the food, it was just okay-- a bit underwhelming, especially given that Lebanese cuisine is typically so flavorful. The chicken was dry, the hummus lacked depth, and the rice was bland. That said, the fattoush salad, one of my favorites, was very good, with a delicious dressing. Overall, I can't say I'd return. The prices were quite high for the portions, and the quality didn't meet my expectations. If you're looking for a quick Lebanese meal, this place is a decent option, but don't expect much more than that.
