I'm a bit torn; the dental work is brilliant but the bedside manner is not great. Dr. Zak is very demanding of her assistants and frequently scolded them while she was working on my root canal, making for long, awkward silences. She had fired the first assistant I met by the time I came back for a follow-up. Her prices are very high; needing 3 root canals (take it from me - floss!) I decided to shop around after she did the first and found a two dentists in Brooklyn who would save me $500 and $1100 respectively. Only after I told her I needed my x-rays for the new dentist did she offer a discount of $700, even though she had known I was recently laid off at my first visit to her office. If you have money to burn and she's hired a new assistant she likes, her work is meticulous. I just felt overcharged and awkward in her chair. read more

If you're looking for a dentist who's patient and thorough, Dr Zak is the absolute best! I've had a lot of dental work done in the past couple of years and she is always very proffessional and works with me to prioritize the treatments I need. I really dislike having x-rayes taken and can sometimes be a baby. Her assistants always work with me and never make me feel uncomfortable. A few weeks ago, I cracked my front tooth (a crown) all the way up to the gum and Dr. Zak stayed until 10:30pm on a Friday night to make sure I walked out with a temporary crown --even though I was a new patient!! And then she stayed late again when the permanent crown wasn't perfect and had to be adjusted by the lab so that I wouldn't have to spend another day with my temporary crown. This is a doctor who genuinely cares about your health AND your happiness. She is also very gentle and calm, incredibly professional, and her work is impeccable. Even though I am usually terrified of dentists and I was close to tears because I was so upset over my tooth, her manner calmed me down immediately. You can tell that her empathy is totally genuine which makes it clear that she is going to do her best for you. Her staff is likewise incredible; everyone was really professional, kind, and super helpful (shout out to Nellie and Jessica!!). Dr. Zak is also excellent at explaining what needs to be done, the costs, and the potential issues so that nothing is a surprise. I thought her prices were very reasonable for Manhattan, but the level of care is so much better that there's literally no comparison. I've finally found a dentist I can trust, and I will be a loyal patient for life --Dr. Zak is nothing short of AMAZING! I was referred to doctor Zoya Zak by a friend because she has the most gentle hands. I get uneasy just thinking about visiting the dentist, but since I started seeing her each visit has been a breeze. She even fixed a unsightly patchy work done by my previous dentist. I can't say enough good things about doctor Zak; truly! During my last visit she whitened my teeth using the Zoom system. The difference in the coloration of my teeth is tremendous. I drink lots and lots of coffee, but in just over one hour of the Zoom treatment my teeth whitened in a way I thought they would only with Veneers. I went to Dr Zoya Zak about a week ago. I was experiancing extream pain in one of my teeth, and had seen 4 docters before Dr Zak. None of the other Dr's were able to identify the issue or cause of my pain. Dr Zac found the problem with 5 minutes of my visit, and located other issues which were over looked by my last denist. I first went to Dr Zak in August 2011 because of an ad I saw in a Bridal magazine and I got a cleaning to prepare for my upcoming wedding in September. Stay far away from this dentist. First of all she claims shes in network but is NOT and will MAX your insurance out on the first visit. Way too expensive and her office is small no waiting area. Stay away from this place so many other dentists to choose from. Besides the fact she is money hungry, she takes HOURS to do any work and is very demanding and rough on clients. Went in for a cleaning the doctor did have shaky hands, and didn't finish the cleaning as im used to with other dentists. Told me i should come back for another cleaning in a month.
