Chipotle chicken wrap with side salad - IG @bougiefoodieboi
    Kyle W.

I was in the area for a business trip and found this lunch spot to be in proximity to where I am staying near the airport. The location is a bit "strange" as it is located in deep corporate buildings so you may assume you got lost, but the restaurant is literally located at the ground level, with a not-too-obvious sign showing the restaurant name. We entered and found that there is the standard lunch offerings like salads, wraps, etc but what stood out is that the price is amazing. These days with inflation, it can be quite a challenge to find something hearty for $10-11 with fresh ingredients. I personally got the chipotle chicken wrap which had enough food for one sizable meal or two small meals, and I opted for side salad to be healthier, which they didn't charge extra. The sauce is rich and creamy, and there is enough vegetables for the added crunch to the wrap. The only small complaint is that the ranch is too thick and creamy for a salad dressing, but that didn't really matter too much to me as I rarely, if ever, add much dressing to my salad anyways.

This unassuming place tucked into an office is a great find for anyone even close by. Park Kurt the owner is a great guy and brought out his special salsa for me while Zulema his wife cooks feverishly behind him. The decor is a bit stale and feels like a hospital cafe which has the upside benefit of feeling very clean. As for the food, Zulema's Breakfast sandwich is delicious with a unique combination of a yummy omelette and mayonnaise (don't judge til you try it) and avocado. This is the perfect comfort food. The breakfast burrito is large enough to share unless you're really hungry. Kurt brought out his Agua di Mika made with hibiscus flowers is a great super sweet way to hydrate and as long as you can handle sweet tea a great addition to your breakfast. I would definitely recommend Zulema's to anyone nearby

I got to meet the owner this morning, Amazing Guy. So much history and heritage in this place! The food is amazing. Salsa's Are homemade and nice and Hot! The temperature the food stayed warm intill the last bite! He knows how to bring out all the favors.. He has been cooking for over 30 years. I'm from Arkansas and you just don't find Food like. Very friendly! Great coffee as well

Make sure to try their salsas

TL/DR: Generous, friendly proprietors; clean restaurant and kitchen; delicious food. This was such a surprising treat. Having crashed in a nearby hotel in the midst of a long trip we needed breakfast before hitting the road again and yelp led us here. Finding that it was in an office building AND that the name on the door did not match the review created some trepidation but Kurt soon put us at ease. A truly stunning lunch buffet was in the midst of being put out while Kurt (co-owner) told us the history of his wife's eponymous business. She stealthily slid us tamales to sample while deciding on what to eat. Everything smelled and looked great. We both had fantastic omelette smothered in their phenomenal, homemade, green and habanero salsas. Cannot say enough good about how at home and satisfied we felt eating here. Next time we need breakfast or lunch in Nashville, we will be here.

Woke up this morning and was craving a breakfast burrito after my workout.... ordered a steak breakfast burrito with added beans. It was a decent burrito and of generous proportions but it would have been nice to have an option of pinto beans and other meats. All in All a cool, quick find. I gotta try the taco bar next time!

All these healthy people make me embarrassed as to what I've done to my body over the past 60+ years. My daughter says that it's never too late to turn it around. But like an oil tanker plowing through the ocean waves, that turn is going to take awhile. The first bend in that turn came in the form of Ginger tofu on a bed of kale and brown rice. Boy is that stuff ever good! Fresh, and if I'm at liberty to say, healthy. So I'll be crossing the threshold of Sunflower in the future. I'll get what my daughter had. Beats me as to what it was. She raved about it, so whatever she had, it'll be in front of me soon. Quick Tip: Look out for the cat.

The Sweet Potato Casserole was disappointingly bland. It lacked both flavor and sweetness, unfortunately. The Collard Greens were actually very good! From what I tasted at the cafe, these were the best. The cafe itself has a very welcoming aesthetic. There was a man who welcomed me as soon as I entered. He was very nice and helpful. There was a salt and pepper haired woman who had an extremely unpleasant and unwelcoming attitude. I even asked a question and she ignored me. So believe those reviewers who speak on this. There's a large covered patio in the front of the restaurant, regular inside seating, and a smaller uncovered patio in the rear. I was really hoping to have a better experience here. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things, but nothing made me want to give them another chance.

I can always expect the best when I come in. The space is filled with warm, natural light and there are plenty of places to sit, plus a super comfy couch. My current favorite seasonal drink is the Sugar Cookie, but I still think about The Great Pumpkin from the fall menu. I may or may not be counting down until it returns. It took me a few years to make it to District Coffee, and now that I have made it, I can't stop going! I am a classic coffee shop guy, and a classic iced coffee guy, so the simple pleasures meet a simple space when I pop in here. While I love sampling their seasonal flavors, they always create magic no matter the season, I normally go for the cold brew with a splash of almond milk and an addition of the sugar free vanilla syrup. Simple perfection! They have a good-sized food menu with several items from meat pies, sandwiches, waffles and even tots. I have had the loaded tots, and while an odd combination with coffee, they were quite tasty! My usual is a pastry of some kind, whatever catches my eye in the case when I get to the counter is what usually ends up on my plate. The space is well laid out and features a few spaces that each have their own vibes from the small tables for those working or studying, to the window counter, the backroom with a communal table and a couch and they even have a boardroom that is rentable for those super official meetings. I normally tuck myself in the backroom, in one of the plush side chairs and hang out for a bit. Service is okay here, honestly probably my only critique. Level of service is definitely the least consistent in my visits so far. Never enough to keep me away, but definitely enough for me to notice. Overall, I am a fan of District Coffee, and when I find myself cruising around this part of South Nashville, you best believe I will be swinging by.
