My order was 1.5 hours late! I would do zero stars if that was an option. You need to get new employees here before they put you out of business. The girl that has long dark hair and long eyelashes that worked on July 18 during the hours of 4:15-4:30 needs to be fired. (She wasn't even wearing a name tag, go figure). I made an order of 40+ balloons for a party for pickup at 3pm. I had a million other events and was running late. When I arrived at 4:30 the balloons were not even ready. When I explained my situation that I needed all the employees to help get these out asap, this girl (I explained above) said in the snarkiest tone "we're going as fast as we can" and proceeds to go slow. I then said "well I paid for these to be done and picked up at 3pm so this is not ok". She ROLLED HER EYES! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I was shocked. The two boys on the shift I think were Martin and Spencer if I'm remembering correct were trying to hustle but she was going so slow and not helping them. I even reached over the counter at one point to help the boy hold the bag open that he could not do by himself and she wouldn't help with. And she says to me "we've got it ". I never leave reviews like this because honestly I have so many other things I could be doing with my time but this needed to be written. I Came into this location and brought in some of my own pre packaged balloons for my daughter's first birthday to be filled with helium. I wasn't greeted or smiled back at when I walked in, every employee at the front desk who saw me come in, walked away like they were busy when they were all up front previously laughing and joking around. The old lady who filled them up for me was not pleasant... at all. Just very cold and rude when I asked her questions. She asked if I wanted a travel bag, I said "that's fine" and she said "it's a yes or no question" ....LOL OK. this was just one of her many rude responses. not really sure who pissed her off that day or if she's just so miserable with her own life she needs to make other people unhappy too. Also, two of the balloons she filled for me were not floating anymore by the time I got home, 10 minutes later. When checking out she informed me they "weren't responsible for the balloons after they left the store doors" Listen, maybe the two of the balloons I had were faulty, and I can't rule that out... but to charge customers a dollar per balloon to fill it up with air the least I'd expect was something to last until the next day. Just a disappointing experience all around. I will never come back to this location. read more

Zurchers has an enormous selection of product. I easily found what I wanted in the first 5 minutes of being there and joined the only open cash register behind one person. I waited a minimum of 10 minutes to be helped by a kind young lady who processed my purchase. Then I waited another 5-10 minutes for someone to fill the balloons. What is amazing is there were a minimum of 6 other employees who came by, saw me and some other people waiting to be served, and left to care for something or someone less important, only to return a few minutes later looking for something else to do. I was thinking of applying for the store manager position on the spot because they certainly need one in this case. I deal with many retail stores and this branch of Zurchers takes the prize for caring the least about their customers. read more

I'm sure you know what to find at Zurchers (basically, all the party supplies + costumes at Halloween), so I'm not going into great detail with their selection. I do not really frequent party stores, but a few months ago, I needed some balloons, and not just anything you could pick up in a grocery store. I wanted something really big and obnoxious, or just unusual and fun. A variety of mylar balloons are on display at the front of the store, so as soon as I walked in, I picked a few out and wandered around while I waited to have them filled. This was a mistake! You very well may end up choosing one of these balloons, but they also have a variety of packaged ones on the sales floor too, so make sure you have looked over your options before committing. I found some LED latex balloons that looked super cool, so I brought them up to the cashier and asked if they could be filled as well. The girl who assisted me first said she wasn't sure (which seemed ridiculous because why would Zurchers sell them?), then decided she could, rang me up, and opened the packages. After struggling to figure out how to fill them (though there were directions inside), she called another employee over, who said those balloons could not be filled with helium. She then offered to fill them with air instead, and though that was not what I had envisioned, they were already paid for, and couldn't exactly be returned as she'd opened them, so I agreed. Again, both she and the new employee struggled to figure out how to fill them, so they called ANOTHER girl up, who reiterated they could not be filled either with helium OR air, but entirely unapologetically. The first girl puffed up and said, "Well, I offered to do it, so I'm going to do it!", to which the last girl just made a rude face à la "it's your funeral," and stomped off. I imagine (but don't know), that she was the manager. She was at least the most senior, but I would hope, regardless of what her position is, that she might make an effort at both better customer service and employee relations. Finally, after honestly 45 minutes of what I thought would be a quick ten minute stop, they got all the balloons filled, and I was on my way. They did refund me the cost of helium for the latex balloons, and honestly, the first two employees, if unaware of Zurcher's policies, at least made an effort to be friendly and helpful, but overall this was just a bad experience, and I would not return unless I had to. Of note, at the time, there was a helium shortage (some stores didn't have any period!), and Zurchers was enforcing a limit on how many balloons could be filled. I don't know if this is still going on, but if you are looking to have many balloons blown up, it is worth calling ahead of time to ensure it won't be a problem. read more

I'm new to Utah, so when I was searching for party supplies at the last minute, I had no idea where to go. I drove to all kinds of places that either didn't have party supplies or they were closed down. I finally realized that all the Zurchers I passed by were party supply stores! Kind of a weird name for people who don't know what it is haha. Thankfully, Zurchers saved the day. I used to work at Party City and this place was superior by far and is a total one-stop-shop. Ugh. I mean, on the one hand, it's a big store so you get a lot of selection. But on the on the other hand, it's the very definition of hit or miss. You can think to yourself that OF COURSE they'll have X item, only to find that they don't. And you can think that there's no way they have Y item, and you show up to find they have one of every size and color imaginable. The good news is, it's all cheap. I'm not sure that's actually good news, but I'm usually not looking to spend a fortune on stuff I'm just going to throw away or give away after one use. It's cheap in the quality department, too, but again, a lot of this is meant to be disposable. I appreciate the cotton candy machine and sno-cone machine rental, it's always been pretty reasonable and they have all the flavors of sugar you would ever need. I remember coming here several months ago late one night just before a little girl's birthday party and finding just the right cotton candy sugar. I'm glad they're open late-ish. The service, however, leaves so very much to be desired. On a good day, it's pretty indifferent and I'm fine with that. I can find my way around. But you definitely have those surly days. They've gone all in on costumes since their fixture installers clued them in on Party City's massive revenue stream (this random tidbit of information brought to you by none of your business) so if you come in October, be prepared for costume overload. I'm pretty much resigned to getting colored cups/bowls/whatever, in the event I didn't order off of Amazon in enough time. Plus the aforementioned cotton candy. I've been to this location a few times and the service has always been slow at the register. But my visit this past weekend has left me with the decision never to go back. My husband and I waited in line to ask a question and the answer we received was accurate yet not kindly given. After paying for our items we waited to have our balloons filled and as we waited there were a couple employees who just stood behind the counter chatting with each other, not working even though there was a line of customers waiting to check out and a bunch of balloon orders to be filled. The most frustrating part was that we paid for balloons and paid to have them filled, yet 5 out of 6 of the balloons didn't last 24 hours before deflating and the 6th balloon barely lasted 48 hours. I've had Dollar Tree balloons (which are much cheaper) stay up longer! Extremely disappointed and would not recommend. read more

I was not in a huge rush, but just seeing how they moved and checked customers out was the slowest I have ever seen in customer service. Absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced. Ordered a curbside balloon pickup the night before that was supposed to be ready by 11:30 am and showed up at 12:30 pm before my event to pick them up and it wasn't ready. I had to leave without the balloons to get to my event and called to ask them to refund my card and was told I'd have to go back and come inside if I want a refund. There's something very eerie about Zurchers. Perhaps it's the off-white, windowless abyss in which its housed. Or maybe it's the general feeling of unease as you walk into a gigantic, dated, building, unsure of what's going to meet you on the other side. OR MAYBE it's the fact that I've never met a single employee who doesn't act like they dread being there. Look, I get it, I've worked retail and it's reliably soul-sucking, but you think you'd at least catch someone on the occasional "good day", right? Not so at Zurchers, which is pretty ironic considering it's a party store. Shortly after you enter, you will realize you're more or less standing in a Party City doppelgänger. Yes, Zurchers is your one-stop (local) shop for all things party and party-adjacent. They have just about everything the heart desires from Donald Trump's cardboard cutout to generic, "you did it!" basketball trophies. What else does one need? In all seriousness, spin the decorations wheel of excess and Zurchers will provide endless gifts. Holidays, birthdays, weddings, baby showers, costumes, divorces (no? just me?) it's all at your disposal. This includes a front section that is set up based on the current Holiday. Right now, for reference, you've got all your Halloween material. A lot of it is repeating inventory, just offered in multiple colors and variations. Ergo, you find yourself looking for napkins, and what do you find? Napkins in 10 variations of color. All of this makes Zurchers really accessible in terms of finding what you need, but it's all extremely overwhelming and excessive. Not to mention, it's low quality. You can't really fault them for this, as most of it's going in the trash after the fact, but the vast majority of their inventory won't be great for longevity. Therefore, if you're looking to have a super elegant event, you're probably not Zurchers target demographic. But if you're on a budget, or simply just don't have the desire to break the bank, you know what's up ;) A few things of note, before we have the dreaded (BUT IMPORTANT) balloon talk. You can actually rent things out here, although I've never done it myself. Mainly it's just food machines: popcorn, snow-cones, cotton candy- but also a helium tank if you're so inclined. Which you might be BECAUSE: The balloon setup is a bit unclear. Here are some important things about balloons, that they won't tell you upfront. Number one, don't be deceived- there are a lot more options than what you see behind the counter. They have an entire aisle dedicated to balloons, where you'll find everything from a basic colored balloon, to all kinds of numbers and letters. Do some exploring before you commit. Number two, BEFORE YOU BUY BALLOONS, make damn well sure that they will be able to blow them up for you. As evidenced by other reviews (and I've had this happen myself) they will often NOT be able to blow up your balloons with helium, rather, they'll have to blow them up with air. And in some cases, they won't be able to blow them up AT ALL. Make sure you get clarification BEFORE you spend your money. And if they say "I think we can." Don't take their word for it, get someone who knows. NUMBER THREE: oftentimes, they have big balloon orders that take priority over walk-ins. That means if you catch them at the wrong time, they can be very busy. Be prepared to wait if you unluckily catch them fulfilling orders. OR you can always place your orders conveniently online. That way, you can bypass most of the aforementioned balloon BS. Follow the balloon rules, and you'll be iight. Know that there's nothing of extreme value here, and you'll be just fine. read more

We're always able to find the decorations we need. The store is well organized and kept clean. The employees are generally busy working and more often than not they are helpful. The store has excellent air conditioning works great. The previous location was too small and this one is nearly too big but it's perfect in the fall for Halloween. read more

Just left this store (4pm on 9/9/21). There were EIGHT people behind the counter, a handful of people in line, and only one register open, run by the manager. She rang one customer up, then left and told another employee to get on register and walked over to her office. 10 minutes after getting in line, with one person in front me, I finally checked out. The entire time, not a single employee acknowledged any customers-didn't even glance over at the growing line-except the cashier when she rang me up. Even then, I didn't even get a "sorry about the wait," even though I am obviously VERY pregnant and standing in line is extremely uncomfortable. I had brought in some out side balloons to have Zurchers blow them up for me and the teenage girls that were working last night kept going back and forth from blowing my balloons to the register and helping other customers that were behind me in line , Mind you there were three girls working the register and none of them were consistent in blowing up my balloons, it's pretty bad customer service that I was not being helped in a timely manner , i don't know if they have a strict policy of making sure no one is waiting in line or what but being ignored and having to wait to have your balloons blown up after every other customer behind you is helped out first is pretty outrageous, they could have blown my balloons first and then cashed other customers out instead of ignoring me and leaving me as a low priority even though I waited my turn in line to check out, I also asked for high float and the girl filling them had mixed up all my balloons and some of them did not have highfloat I paid for it and now some of my balloons are already deflating and it hasn't been even a day , I also had a mylard balloon that wasn't properly inflated and did not get enough helium because it looked really deflated once I got home . I am usually not the one to complain but it really sucks to pay for a service to just be ignored and to basically not get what you paid for. read more

I love Zurchers located at Cottonwood heights! I had a bad experience at the Zurchers in Brickyard on the evening of Nov. 22. I bought a bunch of balloons and party supplies for my nephews birthday. To check out was ridiculous the cashier was eating her dinner and seemed annoyed to have to help us check out. And the girls blowing up the balloons completely ignored me. I spoke kindly to them twice,as they left out part of what I had paid for, and they never acknowledged me. Needless to say half of my balloons didn't last four hours before they fell to the ground. So the following morning I went to the Zurchers in Cottonwood heights as it was near my credit union. Summer the sales associate greeted us with a smile and genuinely asked how we were. She saw the balloons and told me to get some more and she would be happy to replace them. I didn't even need to explain before she offered to make things right. It was such a night and day difference, I couldn't believe it was the same company. Summer definitely restored my faith in Zurchers! read more
