I initially dined here about a year ago with a large group of industry professionals and left underwhelmed, but I decided to give this establishment another chance for a friend's birthday. Unfortunately, the experience was even worse. It took over an hour to receive our first round of drinks, and several of them arrived improperly made--including espresso martinis garnished with olives. The second round took even longer, and the overall service flow was chaotic and disorganized. Food and drinks arrived sporadically rather than together, and it was obvious that the staff lacked support and leadership. I want to be clear: our waitress, Ellie, was not the issue. She remained kind, professional, and did her best under impossible circumstances. Our concerns were never directed at her, and she deserves praise for maintaining her composure throughout the evening. The real problem was management. Despite the extensive delays and obvious service breakdowns, no manager proactively came to address the table. When we finally sought assistance ourselves, we were met with excuses rather than accountability. Even more disappointing was Angelo's dismissive and snarky response, telling us to "proceed" when we expressed our concerns. Rather than supporting his staff or attempting to resolve the situation, management's handling of the evening only made matters worse. To add insult to injury, we were presented with a bill claiming the birthday girl's meal had been comped when it had not. A complimentary bottle of champagne delivered at the end of the evening did little to remedy an experience that had already fallen apart. As fellow hospitality professionals, we understand that mistakes happen and generally extend a great deal of grace. What we cannot excuse is the lack of accountability, poor leadership, and the apparent willingness to let a server absorb the consequences of management's failures. Ellie deserved support (which is what the table took care of.) Instead, she was left to fend for herself while management failed both their guests and their staff. Sadly, after two disappointing experiences, I cannot recommend this establishment. read more

The service was excellent--quick, thorough, and incredibly attentive. My water glass and other beverage(s) were kept filled throughout the entire meal - 5 star service! After dinner, I explored the upstairs lounge, where the DJ was playing a set that went beyond the typical Broadway music or commercialized bar. We went to Zuzu while visiting friends in Nashville. This was perfect for a couples' night. The interior is filled with rich red decor that's sets the vibe. Very comfy chairs and a nice view from the windows. We ate calamari, table side fried rice, a garlic udon dish and sushi. Everything was 10/10. The interior of this restaurant is so beautiful, and absolutely loved the proximity to all the things around it like Ascend Amphitheater! I came in for a corporate dinner and had an excellent experience thanks to Barnaby. From the beginning, he was very friendly, professional, and extremely attentive to detail. He made great recommendations for the table, and everything we ordered was spot on. The honey walnut shrimp was absolutely amazing easily a standout dish for the night. One of my favorite parts of the experience was the table rice prepared right at the table, which Barnaby explained and timed perfectly. He also recommended a red wine that paired beautifully with our meal. It was such a great choice that we ended up ordering a couple of bottles for the table. I have seen Zuzu all over my social media. I had an opportunity to come here twice so far. Decided to celebrate my birthday with my husband and for girls night. Since it was my birthday, our waiter brought us 2 glasses of champagne to celebrate. I ordered the Zuzu brew for my cocktail, it was a bit sweeter than I like, but it was still good and I ordered 2 sushi rolls (Chili Tempura and Spicy tuna). They were both very filling! For my girls night, I shared the table fried rice and ordered the Himachi Jalapeno roll. The sushi roll was delicious, but that fried rice was extremely flavorful and just delicious. Our waitress was beyond amazing, patient, and she knew her stuff. The restaurant is still fairly new so you can tell the kinks are still being worked out. I was shocked that both times I came, which were on Friday nights, that the place wasn't packed. Only drawback was, on my girls night, someone set the fire alarm in the lounge area because they allowed someone to order the table fried rice and it got waay to hot. No one moved nor was it communicated what was going on, which was a bit alarming (pun intended). It wasn't until our waitress came back that she let us know. The restaurant passes the vibe check as well. If I come back, I hope to get our waitress during GNO again, but she was nothing short of amazing and I hate I can't recall her name because I want to shout her out. I think they were probably trying to save tables for bigger parties since it was just 3 of us. WoW!! we were at a beer fest where Zuzu had a sampling table, that's where we met Ashlyn. After trying the cucumbers and walnut shrimp, we knew we had to go check it out. Because it was a Saturday evening and we didn't have reservations, we sat at the bar. It was a very busy night and there were two bartenders. Recognizing that we definitely knew we needed to be patient. They were making cocktails for the whole restaurant and bar service was a little slower because of that. Angelo and Ashlan made our experience incredible. We got the peppercorn crusted New York strip, wasabi Caesar, Yuzu sweet corn, mushroom mapo tofu and thankfully were talked into the crispy brussels sprouts. The brussels sprouts were the best brussels sprouts I have ever had in my life and the Caesar salad was phenomenal, with just the perfect kiss of wasabi! My husband absolutely loved the New York strip. The Yuzu sweet corn had a Brulé top and was absolutely delicious. The only thing that didn't hit it out of the park was the tofu dish. That is personal preference, though. I was thankful they had a non-meat dish. I like a firmer tofu, but the flavor was there! The vibe is a perfect mix, think elevated club vibe but without the club and dancing. lol.. The music was there and loud enough to enjoy, but didn't interrupt conversations. We cannot wait to go back and eat our way through the menu! This wasn't on our radar before, but will definitely be a place we will suggest to visitors and locals. I came on Friday for a girls night. I opted to valet which there were a few cars blocking valet and i had to park in the street just to get serviced. When we walked in the restaurant I loved the atmosphere. Because I had heard so many people talk about it, I expected it to be packed inside but it wasn't. We were seated downstairs. Our waitress was great. She walked us through the menu and was honest about her recommendations which I appreciated. She also mentioned how they are revamping the menu a bit. I ordered the spicy tuna and table side fried rice. The presentation of the rice was nice. Our waitress had someone else to bring out food while she prepared our rice but he had no clue what he was doing and what sushi rolls he was carrying. She had to stop and hand us our food. The rice was really good but the sushi was just mediocre. This place is good for a girls night or date night however they are still working out the kinks as a new restaurant. Service was slow and the team still needs to learn the dishes to support the main waitress. After we were done eating, the fire alarm went off. No one got up and someone came on the speakers but we couldn't hear the announcement. Our waitress informed us that everything was ok. My partner made reservations at this gorgeous new spot and wow--the place is stunning, with an upstairs lounge/bar. Service was outstanding--Lotus and Morgan went above and beyond. Oysters were small but packed a punch. Dumplings need work--chewy and missing that glossy look and juicy bite. Szechuan beef was good but wasn't memorable. The beef itself wasn't spicy, the peppers it was drowned in were. Duck rigatoni was cooked well but needed a little something extra--like chili oil or garlic/scallion oil to take it over the top. Valet was slow (+20 min) and understaffed. Overall, service, cocktails (try their Negronis) and atmosphere made the night special, but the food still has some growing to do for the price point. I was so excited to try ZuZu Nashville. From their Instagram and website, this place looked like it was going to be the next hottest restaurant in town. We went on Monday, just three days after their grand opening on 7/18/25, but unfortunately our experience was a bit of a letdown. Their website listed happy hour from 4-6pm, but when we arrived, they told us they don't have that set up yet. I ordered cocktail #6 from their menu, but they said they were only serving cocktails #1-4 that night. We ordered walnut honey shrimp, short rib, seared sea bass, and a spicy tuna roll. About 15 minutes later, they told us they were having issues with their fryer. Another 10 minutes after that, the chef came out to apologize and offered to bring out a few dishes on the house. Unfortunately, the fryer never worked while we were there so we didn't get the shrimp. The short rib Peking style was tender, but I didn't like the pancake it came with - it felt like stale tortillas. The seared sea bass was slightly overcooked. My mother-in-law liked the spicy tuna roll. They also brought us a vegan sushi roll, seaweed salad, and sautéed eggplant. The vegan sushi roll was surprisingly good, the seaweed salad was just okay, and the eggplant was too saucy for my taste. Parking is valet only and costs $20. Overall, the food was good but not great. I hope they work out these early kinks because it's a tough business, but honestly, I would be hard-pressed to give this restaurant another go. read more

Absolutely love our new neighbors! The ambiance is so beautiful and fun, very exiting addition to this fast growing downtown of Nashville. The bar is a great spot if you forgot to book a table, and hey, you are next to the mixologists shaking up so many good cocktails. Msy i recomend Right in the kisser, just so right on great as it sounds! Zen Forest was another of our favorites. Food wise I will say (like most other guests who have tried it) Do Not miss the honey walnut shrimp, it's delicious. The spicy Szechuan beef is absolutely amazing, perfect balance of the sweet and the spicy. Chicken Katsu Milanese is my personal favorite, who needs Nashville hot chicken when you can have this Korean pepper sauce goodness? The service has been excellent, even though i have visited just a few days into the opening so thats impressive. Let me start by saying this place is beautifully designed! It's an incredible Miami/LA or just big city type of vibe that Nashville has been lacking. The lighting, to the lime washed walls and even the moody bathrooms. It was just perfect! The service was top notch. We were seated quickly and everything we ordered, came out pretty fast. Everything was made sharable, which is perfect because we like to try a bit of everything. We started with the Walnut Shrimp. It was delicious and made perfect. The Yellowtail Sashimi was great and the Jalapeños on it were a good heat. We also got the Toro roll and Hamachi Jalapeño roll. We were not impressed with the Toro roll. Toro is perfect raw, but it was seared on this roll and nobody at the table really liked that. But the Hamachi Jalapeño roll was soo good, that we ordered another one! For our main courses, we got Wok- Friend Maine Lobster. It was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The Peking BBQ Beef Rib came with crispy Mu Shu Pancakes, veggies and a bbq sauce. The tender rib with the crunchy pancake and bbq sauce paired very well together. The Sweet Soy Duck Rigatoni was a bit disappointing. The duck itself was great, but it felt like they just threw in the pasta after. So the pasta had no flavor and we ended up just picking at the duck and bok choy. Then we asked for a dessert menu. They only had cotton candy. Which was awfully disappointing. They just hired a pastry chef and they were still curating a dessert menu. I don't drink alcohol so that was my treat I was looking forward to. But speaking of alcohol, they only had 4 cocktails on the menu available because they didn't have all their bar ingredients yet. But everyone kept ordering the Yuzu Whisper. So that was a huge hit! The overall experience was terrific. It is honestly probably on my top favorites list. I've been here twice and each time was different in terms of portion size, plating and ingredients used in the dish. Consistency is key to continued success in a restaurant. The menu hasn't changed, so the food should be the same as well, not a surprise each time you order the same dish. This restaurant, 6mos in, is still figuring itself out. The hostesses seem inexperienced, piling up less desirable areas of the restaurant while the main dining area is still half empty (the back room is small, with low ceilings and red lighting, and should be a room for private parties, or for larger parties rather than packing in individual tables and bodies like sardines in a can. It's uncomfortable, hot and loud). I asked three times to be moved and each time rejected, despite the main area being half full. They were prioritizing reservations coming an hour later, over earlier reservations, it made no sense and left a bad impression. Since we were here to celebrate a birthday, we wanted to be comfortable, finally after much ado, the only grown up in the place came to move us to a proper table. Thank you David! As I previously mentioned, th food is inconsistent in size, playing and even in some cases ingredients. Everything on the left side of the menu, apps, sashimi, are very small in portion but not in price. The mains are better portioned and pricing is more reasonable. We had some snafus with wrong orders, some mains coming out cold, side dishes never making it to the main meal (and then was undercooked) and a bony fish served in a way that any proper chef should know not to serve it. I'm here for a meal, not a project to pick bones out of my mouth which each bite. The menu needs to continue tweaking in some ways, but generally the food is very good. Also, $24-30 for a dessert is dumb, figure that out. Finally, find an identity. The main dining room is beautiful, it feels like a posh Vegas lounge, but it should not double as a club during dinner hours. Turn the music down to a level so people can converse without literally shouting at each other, which further adds to the overall noise. You can be lively and vibey and have good music pumping without being obnoxiously loud. Save the dance club vibe for the upstairs lounge/bar area, at least until 10pm. Otherwise you're going to drive your mature (and financially stable) guests out and then good luck staying in business when it's just 20 somethings celebrating on the weekends only. I spend $400 for dinner on a random Tuesday night, I want to be comfortable, not lose my voice shouting over apps. I'm interested to see if they can find their footing, as this place has a lot of potential in being a great restaurant, just needs some fine tuning. read more

I fully understand if we were just walk-ins. 100% but the fact that online it says this restaurant is a full experience and the first experience we had was we don't have a table for you even though you reserved one is not a good move. And then it took forever to get waited on at the bar while we waited for our table to be ready. Once we moved to our table, it took forever for our waitress to finally come around. She did not fill up the water once. And when we were ready for another drink order, she failed to let us know ahead of time that the bar did not have half of the drink menu available at the time. The ambience is very loud and the tables have you sitting quite far apart which the seating arrangement is also weird in my opinion. The environment is cool and edgy and I'm sure will get there but again; for it advertising itself as a culinary experience. That is not the experience I had. I also ordered one of the cocktails they did have available and I asked the waitress. How does this drink taste with the Matcha and the jasmine because that's what it sounds like it is and it's not. It is a vodka drink with Jasmine & egg white in it and then they sprinkle Matcha on top . If that was said my friend probably would've gotten not drink without the Matcha but how it's advertised is it's all together, which is what intrigued me. Went here to take some business clients to dinner after reading the great reviews. The evening started off well -- our waiter, Barnaby, was fantastic, attentive, and very personable. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience went downhill from there. The cocktails we ordered were very flat tasting and honestly not enjoyable. We then ordered a steak, the lobster roll, tuna crispy rice, bang bang shrimp, and a few other items. The crispy rice and shrimp were "okay", nothing special. However, one of my clients ended up with food poisoning the following morning after eating the steak, and the lobster roll was extremely disappointing as well. We only ate a couple bites before deciding it was inedible -- it tasted overly fishy and nowhere near fresh. Overall, the price-to-quality ratio was very disappointing. We spent well over $500 expecting a much better dining experience. The only standout part of the night was our waiter. I just have to say that I am so sorry that I have to give one star to this amazing restaurant. The food was probably one of the best meals I had while I visited Tennessee. Our server, Trinity was truly amazing and just a great spirit and very funny. Our entire experience was ruined by a manager, who is trying to prove what a big man he was. We had already advised our server that my son had a brain injury, and he does not have outburst or any problems in public, however, he is very honest and straightforward if you ask him a question. He also will become overstimulated with loud noises, loud music, and flashing lights. We usually tell them this, only because when they ask how the food is, if he doesn't like his food, he will say very clearly and without hesitation and without any filter at all how he feels about the food. We are glad we did because when Trinity asked how he liked the dessert, he let her know in a way that made her laugh, simply because we had informed her. She apologize for serving such a horrible dessert to him, and that made him happy. However, we enjoyed the dessert as well. It was amazing. While I was getting the bill to Pay and my brother was going to the restroom, my son close his eyes put his hands over his ears, too quiet the noise and put his head back. Within 20 seconds big manager, Angelo decided to come over and let us know that there was no sleeping aloud in the restaurant. He was not joking, he was actually very rude, and I simply opened my arms and said look how we're dressed do you think I need a place to sleep. The other manager, a couple servers, and others had come to our table and visited us and said nice things and we had a great experience. Angelo, the horrible manager never came to our table once to see how we were enjoying our meal, to see how we were enjoying our experience, or anything. The only time he decided to visit our table is to bark at my son for closing his eyes and covering his ears as he was trying to manage his situation. Good job Angelo. I hope your owners are very proud that you have no managerial skills to understand what it's like for people to bring their children with special needs to a restaurant and enjoy themselves. Especially when our son does such an amazing job regulating himself. If anything you should have been praising him as opposed to barking at him, especially when you have no idea what the situation was. If you had spent two seconds to come over and ask how our dinner was, maybe you would've found something out that you didn't know. The music was a bit loud overall, but where we were seated it was actually perfect. We placed our full food order around 8:30. We started with the tableside rice, which arrived around 8:50--it was good, not bad at all, just not anything overly amazing. Unfortunately, the main issue was the wait time. By 9:50 PM we still hadn't received our entrées, which led us to get the manager involved. He was very apologetic and did remove my entrée from the bill, which I appreciated. At that point, we were already pressed for time, so we had to get our food boxed up instead of dining in. Wasn't impressed. The girl that did my table side service for my fried rice acted like she had an attitude and failed to give me the sauce drizzle that goes on top. The menu wasn't priced properly and they charge for tap water and our table of 15 was not informed of this prior to ordering water, we found out when the bill came. Food was decent but for this I would just go to my local favorite Chinese restaurant. The noodles were not cooked well and had to be sent back to be recooked, my friend ordered a drink that never came. Figured I'd give this a place a try since they have been open "long enough" but really wasn't that great. Was told the parking is free for 3 hours but it's only 2. The lychee martini is good but the pricing isn't marked correctly on the menu and is very misleading , had to talk to the manager- there was just a lot of problems. Would not go back. read more

My husband and I went to Zuzu tonight for a delayed Valentine's celebration. It was a Sunday night, so parking was easy (free validation!) and the restaurant was quiet and low key. We aren't drinkers, so opted for water and a fresh carafe was provided for our table. We started with the chili crunch sushi roll, and it ended up being our favorite part of the dinner! Delicious! We picked the honey walnut shrimp and salmon crispy rice - both of which were also good. The shrimp was a very large portion for a small plate. For entrees, my husband got the chicken katsu with a delicious sauce. I had the sea bass, which came highly recommended and didn't disappoint. It had a sweet sauce and the fish itself melted in your mouth like butter, but did have a few bones. Ultimately, the service is what gives 5 stars. Our waiter, Teddy, was super attentive. I know lots of earlier reviews aren't so positive, but it seems they've worked out the kinks. Good job, Zuzu's. read more

We had a group of 6 at ZUZU and every aspect of the restaurant experience was well thought out. The food was rich and decadent while being light and fitting the regional profile. The ambiance was calm and exciting with the lighting being PERFECT for a final night in the city. Our server, Will was considerate, pure-hearted, and attentive. The manager Quinn was astounding as he showed us around the upstairs space to make sure we got the full experience.
