I'm only giving 4 stars because we were there for a buffet that they decided not to have this day. So, I'm from Illinois by way of Mississippi. So whilst I'm southern I'm mostly northern. With that said, my food was delicious. lol. I was shopping up my gumbo with my po' bread whilst sipping on my lemonade. The friends I went with were natives. They weren't quite as happy with their food. I believe one was so disappointed that they weren't having the buffet that she didn't recover. Overall, the food is good. I always get the boil. Service is always good. But I wish they had boiled mushrooms in the boil. Not for me but for hubby. It's his favorite part of the boil. We've eaten here twice since coming over here for a job. Both experiences were very pleasant. Friendly staff, great food, and nice atmosphere. 1st time we came we got the BBQ shrimp appetizer, the friend seafood platter with dirty rice, and grilled shrimp platter with coleslaw. Loved the BBQ shrimp and could be ordered as an entree because it's a good size portion. 2nd time we went we got the all you can eat shrimp and blue crab boil (early august) and the all you can eat shrimp boil. The service is what leads me to not give 5 stars. While she was nice, she seemed too busy and was never super attentive. No crawfish? No problem. Zydeco proposes a solid choice of local dish and a lot of seafood. In a local "dinner" style, you can enjoy excellent BBQ shrimps (yes, way too salty but...great taste), fresh boiled shrimps, an excellent gumbo, and big, fat onion rings. I ain't no cajun seafood specialist, but I know when dishes are well cooked, in a simple, homey style. This place proposes simple but tasty food. This is a very casual spot with a warehouse/barn type construction with a large open seating plan. They offer a pretty respectable seafood buffet here which is a bit pricey but its the only one I've ever seen that has soft shell crabs on it. The seafood here has lots of fried options with some boiled choices. If you choose to order off of the menu they have a good selection of typical Louisiana seafood dishes and some chicken and beef choices along with po boys and burgers. The gumbo includes sausage so it isn't a pure seafood version like I prefer. They also have some non-local seafood like snowcrab and some unique items like their Mardi Gras rolls. The service is a bit slow sometimes but generally acceptable. This is certainly a good place to chow down on lots of good local seafood and your biggest issue will be choosing between the buffet here or the all you can eat boiled options at the nearby Salvo's. read more

I didn't dirty a table, occupy. any space, or ask for any table service, yet charged almost 16.00 because I ordered too much!!!! I'm not even sure if the food was good because I suddenly lost my appetite. what kind of business penalizes people for takeout that adds up over 100.00? An unexpected find in the New Orleans suburb of Belle Chasse. Not fancy but GREAT FOOD! The menu is quite interesting with lots of options for ways to serve all the local seafood from crab and corn bisque and chicken and andouille gumbo, to boils of various ingredients, seasonal specials (oysters and soft shelled crab now), and even some tasty, spicy chicken and beef offerings. They have a variety of great local beers on tap served with interesting dips. We tried the spicy spinach and cheese dip with freshly made tortilla chips. We ended it up with delicious bread pudding. Had charbroiled oysters. They were overcooked, very little garlic butter and overwhelmed mounds of commercially shredded Parmesan Cheese. There was so much cheese, it was the only flavor you tasted and it charred on the shell edges to carbon. Interesting flavor combination burnt Parmesan. Ayce boiled seafood for $36 per person is worth it to me. Boiled snow crabs, dungeonous crabs and shrimp all cooked like a coonass nice and spicy. They bring out small portions of what ever you want more of. They get pretty busy especially on the weekends and they do have specials. read more

So my friend and I decided to come back down here for the Halloween weekend festival days. She was so enamored with the charbroiled oysters that she had the last time that she insisted on coming back again for this delectable treat! As always, I opted to get the good old comfort food items which consisted of a traditional pole boy as well as a bowl of gumbo. This place is not fancy, but is filled with pizzazz as well as flavor! The staff is very friendly, and if I had an appetite I would opt to take the buffet option. Normally I would always try a cocktail, but the alcohol content with surely put me to sleep and I would not be able to enjoy the New Orleans night life. LOL overall, this place deserves five stars. They were generous with the cup portion, it was a bowl! Really rich taste, we liked it. My burger was the best I have had in awhile. My husband liked his seafood salad. Good shrimp. Very interesting "pickled" salad in the middle of the green salad. We would both get our meals again. It was $36 with one tea. Nice people. We were there late afternoon and some of the buffet was still out. The fried okra, fried green beans, regular green beans and dirty rice looked fantastic. My boyfriend and I love going here for the seafood buffet. It's the only one around the area with boiled seafood. They don't do the buffet anymore but an all you can eat boiled seafood which sucks because I prefer a variety of foods. The boiled seafoods include snow crabs, Dungeness crabs, blue crabs, shrimp with corn potatoes and sausage. I've had the crawfish étouffée before also and it is so good! The fried pickles are amazing and so crunchy! The charbroiled oysters are delicious, however, I wish the cheese was more melted. My husband and I came to NOLA for a long weekend and wanted an all you can eat crab and shrimp experience. I had read reviews about the buffet at Zydeco's and how great it was. When we arrived, we learned they no longer do a buffet but have an All You Can Eat boiled seafood. We had snow crab, blue crab, boiled shrimp, potatoes and sausage. We also added a side of fried shrimp and charbroiled oysters. Overall it was delicious. We both felt the shrimp and crab was a tad over cooked but all-in-all, we enjoyed our meal. Be prepared to drop a $100 bill if two of you get the all you can eat. read more
