I just want to start off with, the food is great. We had a to-go order so the portion sizes were different from what was expected by the pictures. They were less. For some reasons businesses just don't put the love and care in to-go orders like they do dine in. Anyway, the two stars is because the ONLY thing that was good was the food. The service was terrible. In times like this I would think these businesses would be grateful for customers. Guess not. The hostess was really not, unfortunately the young lady at the bar who took our order seemed disgusted with life. She had 0 customer service skills. Zero as in, when our order was ready she literally held up the bag to us about two inches from the counter and let it drop. Yeah that kind of 0. Then when we got into our car I went to through the bag because I had feelings of error on the mind. And I was right! They forgot my baked potato that kind you was an up charge to be loaded. Now I'm the best at understanding that mistakes happen but considering the bad attitude I was not as forgiving. I did go in and let the young lady know that I didn't get my potato and her immediate response was "you didn't order a baked potato." Not "I'm sorry let me check your order" or "I'm sorry let me see what happened" or anything non accusatory, just simply "you didn't order a baked potato". My response was, "well what was my order?" At that moment she realized the error and just walked to the kitchen. After about 7-8 minutes she came back and handed me the potato in a plastic container I guess to put in my already stuffed brown paper bag. Gosh, I guess it was too hard to bag that separately. Oh and she did give me a "sorry" as she handed me the side. So I may go back out of desperation and hunger one day but considering that Salvador's is like 10 minutes away along with several other seafood restaurants in the general area no more than 20 minutes away; I probably will place this little place on by. No need to waste money on bad service. ALSO NOT ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES WORE A MASK. But there was a sign saying the customers needed one. read more

The service was terrible. Just plain terrible. Judging from other reviewers, it would appear that my bad experience places me in the minority of disappointed customers. So, here goes... Showed up with nine coworkers at 12:15 on a Friday. The place was mostly empty. There were only two other tables seated anywhere near us. Now, there are three distinct gripes that I will detail below. 1. When our waitress started to take our orders, she started out by asking "Since it's Friday afternoon, can you guys make my life easier and put everything on one check?" Um, no. Call me a jerk, but I prefer my check seperated. Saves a ton of time in the end. 2. I ordered the Jambalaya and fried catfish special (which was good, not great). Our meals were delivered over the course of about 40 minutes. My lunch was the last to be delivered at 1 pm. Keep in mind we ordered at about 12:20. Sadly, the rest of the group was finished eating when my meal arrived so I did my best impression of a Hoover and inhaled lunch. 3. Our checks arrived. Since we were in a group of 9, she added an 18% gratuity (standard). However, since 2 of us opted to have our own checks (special costs $8.99), we assumed we would be seperated out of the auto-gratuity. Not the case. My $8.99 special had an automatic $5.99 gratuity added on. That's a pretty steep tip. I asked the waitress about this expecting her to be embarassed by her mistake, but was surprised when she told me that since I was with the large group, that was my cut of the 18% gratuity. Uh, negative ghostrider. I told her this was ridiculous and asked if we could just be added back into the group which she said was not possible. Defeated and in a hurry, I handed her my check and credit card. So, after all that B.S., she comes back and hands me a new ticket several minutes later without the absurdly large auto-gratuity added on. She did still add on an 18% gratuity. Probably because she figured I would stiff her on the tip (I wouldn't have despite her ruining my lunch). This was not the first time I've eaten at Zydecos, but you can bet it will be my last. I'll be going to Salvos next time. read more

Party of 5 displeased women. Three ordered the all-you-can-eat seafood, one ordered the soft-shell crab plate, one ordered the blackened chicken pasta. The appetizer and entrees came out at the same time. The appetizers were okay if not generic. The salad was pulled pieces of iceberg with tasteless tomatoes. The women who ordered the all-you-can-eat seafood could not eat the snow crab legs because they were fishy. The same comment was made about the soft-shell crab. Please do not order the pasta dishes. The chicken was minimally seasoned and the pasta tasted like what you prepare at home from Pasta Roni. Sorry, it just wasn't great food. read more

I went there yesterday and I was very disappointed. My husband and I both ordered the seafood platter. It's clearly not as much food as it was just a year ago. My platter had 3 shrimp, 4 oysters, 2 soft shell crabs, and 4 strips of cat fish no bigger than mi index finger, a slice of toast and a scoop of jambalaya for 24.99. I freaking love this place! We first came here two weeks ago, and came back again today while waiting for Husband's transmission fluid to be changed next door. We always go out to eat between lunch and dinner so our 3 year old doesn't have to deal with waiting, as he's about as patient as, well, a 3 year old, so there have only been a couple of other tables seated when we've been, but whenever I drive by during peak lunch and dinner times they are always packed, and I can see why! It's fab! Here is what we have had on our visits; Fried Mushrooms - Very on point, the batter was crispy and the mushrooms perfectly tender! They were great alone, and even better with the dipping sauce it was served with! Charbroiled Oysters - OMFG! I have avoided cooked oysters for quite a while because I kept getting them overcooked and rubbery. I braved them because I've been wanting to try some and we've been stationed here shy of a year and I haven't had any yet, so I ordered 1/2 dozen (You can also get a full dozen.), and they were perfectly done, tender, still juicy, and the sauce complimented the freshness of the oyster well, the parm on top lent a little extra saltiness. Delicious, the lemon they're acoompanied with brightened them up nicely! They were good size, two of them were big ol' daddies! Shrimp Po'Boy - Holy massive, Batman! Husband was expecting to share some shrimp with our son, but he had a much larger portion than anticipated, therefore my son had quite a bit! He's really bad about actually eating when we aren't eating at home, so we usually just share with him. The portion of fries given with the po'boys is generous, as well. Aligator Sausage Po'Boy - I almost hated giving half of this to my son, it was so good, but seeing the joy he got out of the sausage made me okay with it, lol! The sausage was fatty, as all sausage was (I didn't come here for healthy, I deserve a break from the clean eating, right?), but not overly so. The casing had a nice crunch and the middle was tender and flavorful. Very delicious! Soft Shell Crab Po'Boy - Okay, can you tell we dig sandwiches in this family? All of these are huge, and I knew I wouldn't be able to eat it all, so I asked if I could get half of it with catfish, knowing my son wouldn't eat something that still had it's legs attached, which she did for me (It's $11 something for a half and half, but this way I could have what I wanted, share, and try something else at the same time!). The crab was fabulous, perfectly crunchy and just slightly fishy, I loved it! Catfish Po'Boy - Again, this was my son's half of my soft shell crab one. It was very good! Many times when I've had fried catfish it was dry, this was not, it was perfectly done, tender, moist, and thick. Fabulous! My son who, as I said, barely eats when we go out to eat, scarfed this down! Big Easy Chicken Sandwich - Good Lord, this was good! It's semi-healthy, as the chicken is grilled, and provolone is about as low in fat as part skim mozzarella, which is a plus. The chicken is thick and well seasoned and the grilled onions and mushrooms really added to the flavor! My husband decided to steal a few bites off of Little Man's catfish, so gave me the final quarter of his sandwich (As I am his garbage disposal, it would seem!), and that dissapeared quickly, although I must admit I saved the big claw from my crab as my final bite of the meal! Fries - So, they're fries, which are never the tastiest things on Earth, but theirs are tossed with a seasoning blend which really adds some oomph to a typically lackluster starchy veg. Sweet Potato Fries - I love sweet potatoes in any form, baked fried, waffles, you name it. Unless you're naming candied sweet potatoes, thats far too sweet for me. These fries were no dissapointment, just slightly salty and made me feel better about a fried, breaddy lunch (It may be fried, but it still has antioxidents!). Very yummy, love them! Gator Bite - Husband had this, I took a few large "sips", love it! Here are a few other things I enjoy. The coloring sheet they give kiddos is one, it's cute, and features a gator with "Zydeco's" underneath, a fun little memory of our meal, even though Toot makes us color it! I love the decor! It's a little swamp shacky, which is a perfect ambiance for such an establishment! Also, all of the artwork on the wall is from local artists and for sale, I love the support of local atrists! I also love the server we had today, Cherie (Pronounced Sherry)! She was lovely, very friendly, sweet and attentive without being in our face! As her other table had left before we paid (Again, we go out at odd times to avoid crowds), we had a good chit chat. I will definitely be requesting her on every trip in from here on out! Request her, and thank her for her service to our country, she is an Air Force vet, and her daughter and son in law are in the AF as well. The steamed veggies were delicious! I don't think I've ever enjoyed broccoli so much that I fought over it with my boyfriend! The catfish was just as delicious, with a hint of spice. We ordered sweet potato fries instead of the regular steak fries, and they were also pretty good. The only thing that really needed improvement was the "salad" - iceberg lettuce and tomato. I mean really? No egg or cheese or croutons (I don't even like croutons, but the option would have been nice!)?! We got the food to-go this time because we work down the street, but the food was FAST and you could tell they'd just pulled it out of the deep fryer. Excellent. read more

I always take my out-of-town guests to Zydeco's for a true taste of New Orleans cajun culture! For down-the-road cajun restaurants, Zydeco's is GOOD. I am in love with their seafood pasta; I always order crawfish only. The sauce is reaaaally heavy, but that's why you've got some fancy fresh french bread to help pack down the bowl of cream-slathered-carbs. Seriously, while all that cream is pretty unhealthy, you've got to dip the french bread in it. JUST TRY IT. It's pretty darn good. For starters, try their gumbo or charbroiled oysters. I have had their gumbo several times and it is always reliable-- not too thick, not too watery, always great flavor. Their charbroiled oysters are also good, but I prefer the gumbo. On to the negatives: You may be stuck with very shitty service. Like seriously shitty. Like "I'm sorry I forgot to place your order" after 45min of waiting for a bowl of gumbo, shitty. Like putting croutons on a specially requested gluten-free salad shitty. This happened once, but it simply unacceptable. Hopefully, they will re-train some employees to have consistently good service. Until then, there's no way I'm giving Zydeco's 5 stars. That aside, I've been to Zydeco's several times and am usually very pleased with the experience-- and I still take nearly all of my out-of-town guests to Zydeco's for dinner! read more

Went here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. This place has been here for years yet I've only been here a few times in the past with friends for boiled seafood. I got the crabmeat au gratin for an appetizer and the Zydeco Seafood salad for my lunch. The au gratin had beautiful lumps of crabmeat, not claw meat in a creamy sauce. It was served with slices of French bread to sop the sauce.. My salad was huge, with a mound of Crunchy Olive salad in the middle. It was also topped with smaller mounds of crawfish, shrimp, and claw crabmeat. The salad was very good. I only wish there was more seafood to go with all the fresh greens. But the salad was so big, I only ate half and ate the rest for dinner. My waitress Zoe was very nice and was the one who recommended the salad and she kept my ice tea glass filled. Didn't have a great experience here. Came for the all you can eat seafood buffet at about 7:30pm but mostly wanted some snow crab legs. The ones they had were cold and we stayed for like an hour just waiting for another batch. Our server also didn't really check up on us too often and took forever to get us drinks and refills. The crab cake platter came out with three crab cakes (which was pretty inexpensive) and I knew right away this was a red flag, because crabmeat is expensive). Here's why : We got there at 5:00pm the food smelled great, but once I had it on my plate, I could tell it had been sitting there for sometime...when shrimp are hard to peel, soft shell crabs are small and taste dry and the crab legs lack meat on the inside, it makes it hard to swallow the fact that I was charged $39.99... My husband took advantage of the steak night special and was pleased with his meal. The waitress that served us was pleasant and quick. Our hotel recommended this restaurant. 1 of the 4 had the seafood buffet. It was plentiful with all the seafood you could want!! On a Saturday the buffet is $39.95 defiantly worth it as they even had raw oysters!! Catfish platter was good with dirty rice. Husband and I split a pound of boiled shrimp with corn and potatoes. Delicious! My first time here and we had the lunch buffet. We came for crawfish étouffée poured over fried catfish. It's the Thursday special, however...you can get it on Friday on the lunch buffet. Came in looking for some good seafood boil. My husband and I ate the seafood platter $30 which was good enough for the two of us to share. The platter came with crab, oysters, shrimp, crawfish, sausage, corn and potatoes. The food was all very good but the shrimp were over cooked. We were very impressed by the amount of food. The charbroiled oysters were my favorite. Will definitely be back, maybe I will get the unlimited crab next time but the platter was a good deal. Today my friends and I ordered 15-20lbs of boiled crawfish. Started off very good, however, went south very quickly. Of the 15-20lbs of crawfish that we had 3-4lbs of them were dead/rotten! The waitress went and told the owner who was in the restaurant. They owner had the audacity to insult my intelligence by telling me early season crawfish is always like that. Well my friends and I decided to try this place after the place we originally wanted to go to was closed for the holiday. Ill go ahead and say...definitely not anything to write home about. The wait was kind of ridiculous being that were several tables that were obviously available...we waited about 20 mins for a table that was free the whole time from what I saw. We ordered our appetizers while waiting, hoping we'd have a table by the time we received them because we were told 10 mins for the wait...NOPE. They brought our appetizers to the front lol...we were sitting there like...wth...especially my friend cause she ordered oysters so it's kind of hard to eat those in your lap lol. Anywho, the apps were ok...I got some kind of rolls that were kind of fried too hard, one friend got the charbroiled oysters as I said and the other got crab cakes...those were by far the best in my opinion. As for entrees...I ordered the salmon, one friend ordered crab legs and the other frog legs and catfish. She LOVED her food...the frog legs/fish...us not so much. I would have given it a 2.5 but did not like it enough to give it a 3. Don't get me wrong, we had a fairly serviceable meal here. But only because we ordered something that is not on the menu...and we really only enjoyed part of that. We stopped in on a Saturday after being wallet molested at the nursery behind it. It's a simple layout with plastic covered tables set up in really odd directions. The staff seem nice enough and our waitress was quick to bring us a menu. There is where my first problem was. The menu was disgusting and the prices were the same as French Quarter prices. Clean yo menus! We looked and looked and finally decided to risk just doing a couple of appetizers. As we waited for our waitress to come back, we saw someone get the apps we were going to order. Both guys tried them and both guys made gross-out faces. One mentioned that it was 7.50 for something the size and flavor of a freezer section taquito. So we needed to find something else to order. As we waited some more, the waitress brought a giant platter of boiled seafood to the table in front of us. I saw crab legs! We asked the waitress about that. It's not on the menu but it was about 40 bucks. We ordered one to share. This platter came with 3lbs of crawfish, a cluster of snowcrab legs, a cluster of dungeness crab and a pound of shrimp. We dug into the crab. Both sets of legs were tasty and the butter dipping sauce was spot on. Once we demolished those we moved onto the crawfish and shrimp. That's where things went back down hill. She shrimp were over-cooked and tough to peel. Not much flavor to them. The crawfish were some of the most bland, boring crawfish I'd ever eaten. Just horrible. I asked the waitress about this and she said they had a lot of older folks in who didn't like the spice. Ok..But why NO flavor at all? I swear they tasted like they had been boiled in unsalted water. Needless to say, we didn't get to finish the platter but the crab-legs were delicious. I just wish they knew how to boil the other seafood. It ended up costing us 50 bucks for 2 sets of crab legs, 4 shrimp and 3 crawfish, before tip. Not a great bargain, really. I would recommend this place to people with spice allergies and extreme crab leg lovers. read more
