Very clearly the best late night pizza option in Charlotte. May just be the absolute best pizza option period. We stopped in here for a weeknight late bite when our options were somewhat limited. Thankfully at that hour, street parking in NoDa wasn't too bad, we got a spot just off the main drag. Slices here are GIGANTIC, one is easily about 3 standard slices of pizza, or two normal NY size slices. We got a pepperoni and a cheese. The pepperoni had nice kick to them and the cheese was a high quality. You had to let the pepperoni grease drain onto your plate a bit, but that is expected. The thing that makes both slices so good is the garlic butter bath all around the crust that you can see them doing in the kitchen. Not just that, but the texture in the crust will make even non-crust lovers think again. You're basically left with big doughy garlic butter breadsticks. Definitely a 5 on taste. My only complaint, and I'm sure it is partly by design to keep people from staying long, the stools you can sit on to enjoy your pizza inside the restaurant are THE WORST I have ever placed my derrier on. Even for 15 minutes, it wasn't just uncomfortable, it was painful. It took me a couple blocks to start walking correctly again. Might as well just get rid of them and have people stand to eat. Pretty great pizza. The crust is actually tasty, which is a feat because usually, when a slice is the size of a small car hood, the flavor starts to disappear. This little pizza shop has been making quite the buzz around town, so of course I had to see what all the commotion was about! Nestled in the heart of NODA right under a cat café, we found ourselves at Zambies. It's a cute little pizza shop with very limited seating. Luckily we were able to snag some seats by the window and enjoy the people watching while eating our pizza! We received compliments from a passerby on our hair! I stopped again mid-afternoon and found it easier to get a slice. These are expensive slices, but I wouldn't question the value for the money. These things are huge. The crust is thin and floppy and delivers a hint of carmelization. The topping options included a fun vegetarian special with a lot of peppers and mushrooms. Drink options were okay but they charged me for a bottled water, which irked me. Was having a pizza craving and went on the suggestion of a coworker. So glad I did! Really sizeable portion, even for a big eater like myself. We ordered Zambies late a few nights back after a concert and were super excited to give it a try. Prices are a little high but the size of these slices and flavor was well worth it! We ordered 3 slices and the dessert knots. The rotating slice was the Great Misteak which was basically a Philly steak on pizza, but was pretty tasty. We got the Sleeping Beauty which had a cherry pepper base, topped with red peppers and onions and a balsamic drizzle. This one surprised me with how freaking good it was. I was skeptical at first, but once I bit into that crispy crust I knew we made a good choice. The last slice we got was of course a pepperoni. I looooove a pepperoni pizza that has the little cup pepperonis on it and this was loaded with them. Just an overall great slice. We got the pookie sauce and ranch to dip as well. Both were great and perfect for the crust to dip at the end. The dessert knots were so so. We wished they had a little more of the maple cinnamon sugar and maybe had it swirled throughout the knots because it was unfortunately just a ball of dough on the inside. We were sightseeing while at a break from a conference and were told to check Zambia's pizza out! We can just after 11a and while they were not technically open, Chad welcomed us in and let us know that they had some pizza ready already and were making more so we could order! He recommended the daily special, which was "Not your ordinary pasta wheel" i think. It was absolutely delicious, a cross over of a cacio y pepe and a white pizza, coming together in perfection! Not only does one slice nearly fill up half a pizza box, but it's also incredibly tasty as well. The crust is nice and crispy and the toppings are so flavorful. I had the one with the balsamic drizzle and it was phenomenal. Husband had the monthly special (loaded with meat), which he also enjoyed. The vibes were immaculate. Loved the music! Service was supreme. The guy that took our order was very nice and went over the menu while we decided which to try. Seating is a little limited but with food coming out pretty fast, it turns over fairly quick. If it wasn't for parking being a pain in this area (and maybe I just haven't figured out the cheat code to that yet) I would be here at least once a week or so. This place has been on my places to eat for a while & Saturday was our first time trying it. It did not disappoint! As we were walking up we passed many people eating their pizza and knew we made the right choice. The line for ordering moved quickly and our slices were ready within 15 minutes. There were a few mini tables to eat at but we took ours to go. The slices are huge with the most amazing crust! We decided to try four kinds: The Padroni, The Pioneer, Sleeping Beauty and Buffalove.
