My…read morefamily's treasured 2003 Mercedes SUV was rear-ended on the highway and declared "totaled" by our insurance company who insisted it was not worth fixing. However, we didn't want to let go of it just yet and decided to ask Santa Clara Autocare for a repair quote, "just to see." John picked up the phone and walked us through the whole process from beginning to end and patiently explained all the options to us. Our insurance company was really pressuring us to accept their settlement payment and overwhelming us with forms and deadlines, and it was such a blessing to talk to John and finally have a conversation with an experienced professional who we could trust to give his straightforward, honest opinion about what it would take to fix our car. The car wasn't starting, so we just emailed in some photos of the damage for a preliminary assessment. John looked at them right away and told us immediately what he thought would be fixable. He actually even asked to put us on hold for a few minutes so he could call his parts dealer right away and check if there were any replacement parts available, because he was not sure the parts would be available for such an old model. We also described all the struggles we were facing with the insurance company and he gave us some truly helpful information about how to navigate our insurance situation and negotiate for the best possible settlement. Then after we finished talking on the phone, we got a follow-up email right away - I think within one or two hours - with a full quote estimating the cost of all the repairs and replacements. Now, nobody in our family knows anything about cars so we were asking a lot of dumb follow-up questions (like, what's a crossmember? what's a rear body panel? and so on). John was so patient in answering all our questions and making sure we understood everything in the quote. But we were still feeling a little nervous - what if after we brought in the car, he found some more severe damage that didn't show up in the initial pictures and the cost of repair "blows up"? When we told him this he offered to come inspect the car in person at our home! He took a thorough look at everything and assured us that he felt confident in his initial quote. Throughout the repair process John gave us updates every 2-3 days, with photos of how the repair was going. We told him how little the insurance company was offering us for the settlement money and thanks to the skill of the Santa Clara Auto Care team (plus I'm sure a little bit of luck!) John was even able to reduce the cost a little bit more from his initial estimate. Not only did they complete the repair to absolute perfection, they left the inside and outside of the car spotlessly clean and polished - it looks brand new, and way better than it looked before the accident. They also insisted on buffing out some other dings and scratches that they noticed, even though it had nothing to do with the accident. When we picked up the car, we even received a pleasant "bonus" surprise: they had found a pair of glasses that my mom thought she lost, and left them neatly in the seat pocket! The team's attention to detail and standard of care is totally incredible. These are experts who are proud of their work and won't settle for anything less than perfect. I would never wish for anybody to get into a car crash, but if you find yourself in that situation, Santa Clara Auto Care is the place to go. It was a true relief to work with a professional, honest, trustworthy business and feel absolutely confident that our car was in excellent hands and that we were getting a fair price for an astonishing level of skill and workmanship. Especially in a world of big, faceless insurance companies and a wasteful consumer culture of just buying new things when the old ones don't work anymore, it gives us such hope and relief that there still exist small businesses like Santa Clara Auto Care and people like John who are dedicated to doing honest, professional, and excellent repair work. I was referred to John after my 2013 SL550 was serviced by Mercedes Exclusively which is next door…read more I had some bumper work that needed to be done as there was PPF damage when it was removed and it took off some of the paint, not at all related to Santa Clara Autocare. I had tried to fix it myself and put a rubber bumper guard over it, but it never really looks OEM and it bothered me. I had received quotes in the past, but it was only for a new bumper and it was over $2,000! I was so happy to have met John who was honest, upfront, and timely! They removed the rubber bumper guard, sanded down the affected areas and then resprayed the paint to perfectly match the existing color, they are truly paint experts. The car look better than when i purchased it CPO and so happy with the way it turned out. I would recommend John and his team for any body work that needs to be done as they are great and well priced. THANK YOU SANTA CLARA AUTOCARE!

However we have publicly supported this company, and sent many others in their direction therefore I feel it is my responsibility to caution others to be extremely careful when choosing who to trust with your business. We've had repeated issues with engines from Gromm Racing, with four consecutive failures occurring in less than five hours of runtime each. Despite thorough investigations, including sending oil samples for analysis (which returned clear results), we've been met with deflection and accusations. Gromm Racing claimed the oil analysis company was lying to protect their product's reputation. Our data logs confirmed that the engine operated within proper parameters, yet the failures--in some cases attributable to wear or fatigue--remain unexplained. Gromm Racing's primary excuses for these failures are that they were caused by driving on the limiter and a lack of oiling--claims that our data logs directly contradict. The logs show the engine was within proper parameters and had sufficient oiling. Upon further inspection, it was found that the main bearings were clearanced too tight, resulting in excessive crank damage, while the rod bearings showed no signs of heat or wear. Additionally, an oil sample revealed high volumes of aluminum, indicating significant piston wear, which was also evident upon inspection of the cylinder walls. To make matters worse, we've had countless issues with Gromm Racing losing hardware, engine drive accessories, and even valve train components. On one occasion, valve train parts had to be pulled off an employee's personal car just to complete our engine. Spare parts he deemed "not reusable" would be boxed up and taken to a storage room where we would have to request for them back. Additionally, a nitrous plate that was shipped with an intake was never found or returned, adding yet another layer of frustration to an already disappointing experience. Gromm Racing's lack of support and transparency further compounds these problems. They refuse to provide part numbers, engine clearances, or even replacement parts, claiming these are "trade secrets." Instead, we're told to "figure it out ourselves." Two years ago, we ordered billet main caps for an LSX block, paid for them, and never received them. The claim "I never billed you for a dyno session" was what we were met with when inquiring about them, however we were never invoiced and the main caps are still needed. The $4,500 block sat at their shop improperly stored and was allowed to rust, despite my repeated inquiries. Upon arrival to pick it up, I was told, "I would've cleaned it if I knew you were coming." Additionally, the blower engine was taken to Gromm Racing for a teardown, inspection, reassembly, dyno tuning, and return over two years ago. Despite countless missed deadlines, we still don't have the engine (it is now ready but not complete nor correct in terms of the injection lay out that was improperly redone nor the intake issue addressed). This repeated failure to meet commitments, coupled with an inflated ego and lack of accountability, is unacceptable.

I started as the indecisive, can't-make-up-his-mind, annoying-over-email customer that I know all shops prefer to avoid. When I called with more questions and even less certainty, I told them I also had my own parts, which turned out to be wrong too. Despite my persistent overthinking and back-and-forth, I was only met with genuine feedback and honest advice, which all turned out to be right (unlike my parts and my plan). Noe was nothing but professional, and Jamil made me feel confident that my confusion wouldn't interfere with the quality work and experience the shop delivers. I wanted to have things dialed in a bit, and the way everything turned out, because of them, not me, is so much better than I expected. Truly good work, done in a manner that's unfortunately harder to find these days. Happy to have found the place I'll take my Audi to, and I highly recommend that anyone who needs an honest mechanic who can handle everything from basic to bananas should call Noe and Jamil.

Had an extremely unpleasant experience with this shop…read more Brought my 1990 miata in after a head rebuild, with both coolant and oil leaks. I called them on Wednesday, and they said they would likely be able to take a look on Thursday, if not for sure Friday. I left the car with them the same day, trusting that they would do this. Friday comes around and I don't hear a word from them, so I give them a call. They now tell me that they were busy and hadn't gotten time to get to it. Now the car has been sitting for 5 days (wednesday to monday) and NOTHING has been done to it, while this is my only car. On Monday they finally call me back and tell me that a bunch of stuff is unplugged and they will need more time to diagnose the issue, and asked for 4 labor hours total. I accepted this, and hoped that they would find the leak. I wait a few more days and hear no updates, so I call back just for them to say that they are now having issues with the car starting. I wait another few days (been nearly 2 weeks now) and they say the same thing. On the third week they finally tell me that they got the car to start, and that the head is fine and there was a hose that wasn't tightened all the way. This was not the case because the hose to the thermostat was not tightened when I did a radiator pressure test and coolant was leaking from the heater core pipe too. They also put a few bolts on a bracket because it was loose. I drove the car in there without brake pressure so they insisted that they NEEDED to fix my brakes otherwise I would have to tow the car out. They fix my master brake cylinder/rebleed my brakes so I have proper brakes (ebrake still not fixed even though its right there.) They then call me and pretend like the car was fixed, and test drive it, when in reality all of the leaks are still present and all they did was fix the brakes and power steering bracket. So in conclusion, I left my only car here for nearly 3 weeks and got little to no communication, and then the day they said they can release the car to me they hit me with a $1600 bill. I didn't even ask for half of this stuff and they're charging me $900 JUST FOR BRAKES LOL. When I told them I wouldn't accept this ridiculous invoice they threatened to take it all off and make me tow it home, and I literally agreed to that because of how stupid this whole situation was. So I would be towing out a car that I drove in there because they did work that I did not approve. Once they realized that they would be doing even more work to take off brake master cylinder /lines on a car they already clearly didn't want to work on they magically reduced the bill by $500. Honestly I shouldn't have even paid that but I just wanted my car back. This shop is super predatory and Chris you did me very wrong because you could tell I didn't know what I was talking about. Maybe if you have an RX-7 and you want to rebuild it this is the place but PLEASE don't send your normal cars here unless you want to pay dealership prices for half assed work. Apparently the oil leak was coming from the rear main seal but I don't believe anything they said at this point. I asked them to attach my bumper which is just a few bolts and they didn't even do that. The car still idles high too. And just for the cherry on top they accidentally sent me someone elses invoice with their full address, name, and phone number, they billed this poor guy $20,000 for an NA6. Stay far away !!

He starts just telling w all kinds of issues with my truck. When I asked him why he didn't disclose to me when I spoke to him. His response " you are not my client. So to get this straight. If I paid him to work on my truck let's say $200 worth of work. That would justify me as a client and he would lie to new potential buyers. Hmmmm. Stay away from this guy. If you need more details.
