Went here for lunch the day after Thanksgiving. The waitress kept pushing us to order a third entree because we were "suppose" to order one entree per adult. To be fair this isn't the first Korean restaurant to pull this stunt on me. But I'm like come on its the day after Thanksgiving and we're still stuffed from the night before. The Korean BBQ seems to be just fine. The portions were pretty big. I just wish Korean restaurants didn't make their customers feel like the restaurant has some kind of quota system. The #1 Korean BBQ is one of my absolute faves. The atmosphere is very quiet and mellow and the restaurant is clean. My first experience at this restaurant I sat at the grill and ordered, very roomy. The staff were friendly and very helpful when it came to the proper way to cook and put together a tasty meal. I have had most plates at this restaurant and all are very big portions and lovely to eat. I bring people in to this restaurant saying that they do not like this type of food and I force them to try it and they can't stop eating it. Anything from the spicy pork, bulgoki, short ribs, chicken to the sides they serve bean sprouts, all different types of kimchi, potatoes, zucchini and the delicious rice cake soup and asian pears. Now onto the fun stuff... James the bartender and the alcoholic beverages that he makes... I have had not one single bartender do any better. My personal favorites are the many types of mojitos that he makes... Sweet tea, strawberry, peach, mango, mint, pomegranite and my most favorite is the CUCUMBER mojito. The absolute best. This is a mixologist that puts his best into his work. I have all of my many get togethers with friends and family at this place and we always enjoy the drinks, food, and fun. Everytime I come here it's like my mom's home made cooking. I can't get enough of it, and each time is an experience worth writing home about. I actually just had dinner there tonight with my parents for my mother's birthday. We did the all you can eat Korean BBQ and the dinner was perfect. All the cuts of meat were very fresh and I was extremely surprised to see how well marbled the Galbi was. I'm surprised to see the negative responses that people have about this place. I went there multiple times because I really like Korean food. First couple times, my wife and I went there, the service was horrible. I asked for a refill. 30 mins later. Nothing. I asked for a certain meat. This later comes to us cuz she got the wrong meat for a different table. So she decides to put it in ours. I decided to never go back tHere. Months later, decided to get menu food Togo for my wife. She can not eat pork since she's allergic. So I ordered beef sundoobu and not spicy. Went home and the food was red to my blood and there was pork intestines in the food! I tasted it just to see if it was not spicy. It was not edible! I'm Korean and I can handle spicy. But the soup just tasted like there just put pepper flakes in there and no other season. So I just threw it away without even taking a bite. My wife just ended up eating the rice and the side dish. Wish I took a picture of it before I threw it away. I normally never put reviews. But this place is horrible. read more

This is a much needed new Korean restaurant in Thurston County it gets annoying have to drive up to Tacoma every time however their menu is limited. I've had their bibimbap with beef and pork which was very good. The hot spice that you can mix with your food leans more towards the sweet spicy. An adequate selection of panchan with fresh cabbage and turnip kimchi (not pickled), cucumber kimchi (which was pickled) and excellent, bean sprouts, zucchini and potatoes and tofu in a soy/sesame marinade. I've also had their kimchi jeon, which was made with a more pickled kimchi and it's huge, thick and sizzling hot. It's enough to feed three people and every bite is delicious. I ate it with an asian pear martini that they can make for you. My last trip there I noticed that they had added naengmyun to the menu and so I ordered bibi naengmyun, since it's my favorite summer dish. The noodles were perfect and there was a nice amount of spice to it, however they don't serve it with any meat or boiled egg (you may have to ask for it). I have a feeling that there may be other dishes that are offered that are not on the menu and so I'm going to explore that option the next time I'm there. Good food, nice restaurant and attentive servers. I also love the fact that they are open later at night than some restaurants, open until midnight on weekends and 10 or 11 pm on weekdays but I'll need to double check that. read more

Came here spontaneously for dinner. My husband has been to Korea before so he has a little more to say than I do. We both thought the food was delicious but there was not enough lettuce or rice. It's very comparable to authentic Korean food. The soup was delicious as well! Everything tasted fresh and love the fact that you can cook your own food and the waitresses don't hound you constantly. was nearby after a soccer game so decided to try as we love korean food we did the $21 all you can eat meats per person ... we are family of 6 with 3 young kids/toddlers/babies... so we need to eat fast and efficient before the kids lose their patience. we did the BBQ where we grill out own meats meats were good, tasty, tender. the owner was super nice!! i think it was meats #9-13 ... if you had more variety of meats it was closer to $30 a person the sides tasted great! the big issue i had is that we kept running out of the side dishes like the kim chee and fish cakes, etc... then eventually the owner told us they were not free or all you can eat. wow. embarrassing.... we have eaten at many korean places with all you can eat BBQ and have never ran into this issue before! so we felt bad that we were judging them based on slow service and not getting refills on our sides or water. i guess they were trying to be nice by avoiding us since we kept asking for more sides and didnt knwo they werent part of the all you can eat. so our fault but we again haven't experience this at any other korean restaurant. i personally would not come back here for all you can eat BBQ because i don't want to eat just meat, i want all the sides with it and not a limited amount. i will continue to eat my korean bbq in lakewood or go order by entree again not bad food just unexpected issue for us. now a wake up call to make sure when something is all you can eat to ask what exactly it includes thats why i have 3 stars... kind of mixed review due to being somewhat ignored for something we didnt know or realize the owner was super nice and eventually explained she was giving us the sides but they were not unlimited and i think she could see how embarrassed we were so kept talking to us. so yes eat here but just make sure you know what youre paying for read more

This Korean "All you can eat" restaurant is a terrible example of what a TRUE Korean BBQ restaurant experience really is. I'm not sure If these are new owners but years ago this REALLY was #1 Korean BBQ. I would drive from Puyallup to Lacey just to eat here. The service was AMAZING, food was marinated to perfection and the price was reasonable. Fast forward to the present day... I'm upset to see the lack of staff, the lack of urgency to bring more "all you can eat meat" and lastly the price. I have been here twice in the last 3 months just to really see if this is the "norm" ....and yes... it is. My family and I sat there for almost two hours because we were ignored. They ran out of the short ribs but we still got charged $26.99 and we only had 3 pieces. I'm sad to say I will never go here again. read more

This place is fantastic! Its in this little strip mall so I wasn't expecting much but when I went in it looked like the kind of place you would walk in if in another country. Part of the seating area has the BBQ built in to the tables so you can cook the meat at your own table, while another area is normal so they service you. The food comes pretty fast the first round where you order roughly 4-6 types of meat, but after you finish those expect to wait 10-15 minutes for the next round. I wish every first visit could be this pleasant. The restaurant was 99% empty which initially set off red flags but we resisted the urge to walk away! The restaurant was very cozy with dark wood and warm colors abound. Young, the owner, is an adorable lady! Upon entering the restaurant she immediately showed us to our seats but not before giving the table a good wipe down with a clorox drenched rag. Cleanliness is a plus but cleanliness with the power of clorox is even better! Young helped with menu selections, promptly delivered drinks, and engaged in genuine conversation. This has been a regular spot for dinner for my family for months. We have taken friends and family and co-workers to eat here. Service is generally hit or miss, but we have always been treated well with high quality food. However, today that changed . Hours of operation state they are open until 10pm on weekends (Friday and Saturday). We arrived at 9:35pm to a door that was propped open, lights on, and customers in the establishment and were told they are closed. Questions about the hours of operation and was told that they always close the kitchen 30-45 minutes before closing. So, if they close at 10pm the kitchen closes between 9:15 and 9:30. We have eaten here several, several times (usually 1-2x/month) and have never been told this. I asked to speak to a manager and was told the owner would be out to speak with me. After waiting 10 minutes was told they were actually gone for the evening. As I turned to walk out the door the person whom I had been speaking with turned and walked to the tables still there and started relating our conversation. read more

The food was pretty good and it was a fun little experience, my only complaint was was that we were not given great directions so the meats that were not marinated tasted like just meat. There are some sauces you are supposed to dip the non-marinated meats in, but because we were not really told about them we skipped them. At the other Korean bbq place we visited the people were really good about giving us approx. times on how long the different meats took. That would have been very helpful because the ribs came off a little lightly cooked, but were still really good. I think if we were to visit again instead of getting the combo I would be more interested in only the marinated meats and the sides. read more

Especially starting by 3rd round, I felt our order was on purposely delayed and part of order was directly cut. This is our favorite Korean restaurant in the area. We typically get the double order of Sanjyupsal, and Kimchi Jigae. The grill in the center of the table is just like Korea. The panchan is the US Version, I am guessing because they cannot get certain ingredients in the USA. Even though it is adapted, it is still very good! The servers aren't very attentive, as this is a mom and pop shop. It is accurate Korean food and very very good! read more

Great place to eat but kind of spendy. I like to have a beef bulgogi Skillets when I go. Two people can eat for less than 25 bucks with this. Sweet marinated meat and all the yummy sides with rice. My friend and I go and order an extra order of rice and sometimes an order of lettuce leaves. Wrap all the yummy deliciousness in a lettuce leaf and eat like a sandwich.
