Most seating was taken so we sat at the windows. My husband mentioned a cute little courtyard out back but those seats were taken. We were greeted by a sincerely welcoming and happy person at the counter. Couple that with really delicious pastries - morning bun with a lovely citrus and cardamom flavor, a flakey and layered croissant, a cinnamon roll with just the right balance of glaze- a perfect start to our day...and the major highlight? A fresh out of the oven warm and delicate raspberry with nectarine danish. AMAZING!

They offered the item on both days this weekend and again I missed it on Saturday. I asked the front person what time I should get to the bakery in order not to miss it, and she recommended that I come in right at the opening. She said they ran out of it some time past 11am on Saturday, so it seems like they don't necessarily go flying off the counter immediately. Although I was curious, I still wasn't sure if I'd make it in time for opening at 8am the next day. But I was housesitting nearby and the dog woke me up at 6:30 begging to go on a walk. Not wanting to waste the fact that I woke up early on a Sunday, I decided to not go back to bed but head to the bakery at 8am. I arrived like 2-3 minutes before opening and was surprised to see there were already more than ten people lined up at the bakery. Having worked a retail job, my coworkers and I get annoyed when people start lining up before opening, so I tried my best to arrive right on time. But the line was a bit much. Anyways, I respect that everyone working at the bakery doesn't seem one bit offended by the crowd and are so nice to the customers. Consequently, I'm glad I went for the Maritozzi. It was really good. But if it's this difficult to get one then I probably won't go for it again.

I've driven past this spot a gazillion times and just read this specialty business has been around since 1997! Props for longevity! I stopped in yesterday (1/22/26) for three reasons: I had a Too Good To Go confectionary pickup, wanted to see their Kasama Chocolate selection, and look around after my 15-16 year hiatus. Parking along Elliott in the Interbay area is dicey due to bus lanes, parking restrictions and traffic flow. Luckily, there are a few parking slots on the south side of their building, adjacent to Holy Mountain Brewing. Walked in and was blown away at the retail layout, so much to see! The counter person (owner?) was busy with another customer. Their convo was very warm and interactive. So I slowly meandered through the store and really liked what I saw. I should have come here for useful holiday gifts. I was later checked upon inquiring whether I needed any help locating any particular item(s). Chocolates, spices, olive oils, sauces, condiments, pasta, and other specialty items that a culinarian, gourmand, or treasure seeker would fully enjoy. The retail displays are so enticing and provides a lot of inspiration. Plus ChefShop is a lot closer to me than heading to PFI on S Dearborn. I ended up having to restrain myself and selected ras el hanout and berbere spice jars and two bars of Kasama Chocolate for purchase. The latter I learned about from Instagram, much closer than having to trek to Granville Island Public Market in Vancouver, BC. Plus my TGTG confectionary bag, everything found made for a successful retail visit. Terrific retail layout. Welcoming and informative customer service. With the loss of Chocolopolis further down Elliott, ChefShop is another great resource for quality chocolate varieties. Definitely, follow them via IG (@chefshopseattle) for up to date info & classes. Great to stock your pantry, find unique gifts for others, and treats for yourself. Just don't have such a long delay between visits like me. Highly recommended!

I had picked up some canned fish that had expired several months prior. However, I did not see the expiration date on the 2.2 pounds of pinhead oats that I purchased until I went to use them just now and they have a best buy date of 2/26 (I purchased them in May). I did not buy that many products so I'm wondering how many other items were past date.

Best Fresh Pasta…read more This review is based on the products-- we've been going to the farmer's market and always find ourselves visiting the La Pasta stand every time. The ladies at the stand are always very friendly and helpful in their suggestions (such as which type of sauce to pair with the pasta, or the flavor of the pasta or ravioli filling). Thus far, we've gotten the egg bucatini, the red pepper bucatini, the seasonal gnocchi, and the dreamy garlic spread. Generally, I'm not a big fan of fresh pasta, because many times, I feel it gets too mushy (or perhaps it is the quality of the pasta). La Pasta fresh pasta has never been mushy; it has that imperative al dente bite-- a clear sign of good quality pasta. The gnocchi is flavorful and pairs well with the dreamy garlic spread. Looking forward to trying the pumpkin ravioli later in the week. The price is comparable to the fresh pasta you would find at a specialty store, like Whole Foods, Metropolitan Market, or PCC Markets-- however, La Pasta's quality is far superior. La Pasta products are worth the price. We look forward to trying any new products, as well as upcoming seasonals. We also hope that they may have a brick and mortar store in the future on the Eastside for the farmer's market offseason.

You can choose from a variety of fishes as well. They were pretty fresh and yummy. The guy working there was really nice. He had a lot of advice and suggestions. Will probably be back for their sushi and sashimi special as well.

But the lunch omakase special is what I really wanted I think. But even so. The poke bowl was mixed. I have to unfortunately knock off the stars/taste because the rice I got was literally the worst rice I've ever had touching raw fish. The rice was like hard and stale. I even had a clump that looked like it was the burnt part from leaving it on the cooker for too long and it couldn't bite it. I know this place is for the fish, but there's a bare minimum expectation on rice quality. And the fish itself was good? Maybe cuz it's the poke and not the omakase (so mixed chopped pieces) but there were pieces that tasted super fresh and delicious and then there were pieces that had so much tendon I couldn't bite through it. The folks there were super nice and friendly especially since I had no idea what to order. Just wish I was more delighted by the meal, especially cuz it was like $18 poke bowl. I'll give it another try with hopes it's better next time.
