Their signage by the parking lot
Sarah S.

I came into La Pasta yesterday to get some seasonal Finn River ciders and a dried sausage. I love La Pasta so much-they have a convenient parking lot, and even if it was full, there is so much residential parking around that you will have no trouble staying awhile. I noticed they are carrying Alpenglow Mixers now. While I didn't get any of their delicious pasta this round, it is so nice to be able to experience a local farmer's market whenever they are open!

Black Squid Ink Pasta ($6)

La Pasta is a local pasta maker that sells their pastas at numerous farmers' markets across the Seattle area. I like that their pastas come in many flavors and are not just the usual egg pasta noodles. I had a black squid ink pasta dish at a food truck earlier this year and was interested in making these noodles at home. La Pasta was the only place that I knew that sold this type of pasta. Price was reasonable as it was $6 for a pound of fresh pasta. I had some nice meals with this pasta and would buy it again. I would recommend asking for some pointers on how to best cook the pasta when you buy it however. It was a bit of trial and error for me in this regard.

Asparagus and pancetta ravioli

Read the great Yelp reviews and stopped in to get everything for a pasta dinner. One funny thing, i stopped by the Morning side Deli which is right next door. I wanted to grab a quick sandwich one week before. The deli had no deli; only two sad looking, prepackaged turkey and American cheese sandwiches. They did have an impressive array of alcohol, but cannot get wasted on my way to work. After getting my dinner a La Pasta, I believe they just gave up on offering anything deli related. La Pasta has a great array of frozen specially sourced meats. They also have the kind of things that make a cook swoon. Saffron from Cyrus! Truffle dust! Flavored oil oil! Lots of other high quality items, that appear to be carefully selected. Just be warned, I can see myself going whole paycheck on this place. I first selected the asparagus pancetta ravioli and pomodaro sauce for dinner and a tiramisu. They were out of banquettes today. Oh, the pasta and sauce were lovely. The pomodaro sauce was so good. It had a pronounced tomato flavor and one is tempted to lick the plate afterwards. The ravioli were nice, with a delicate asparagus and pancetta filling. Would have liked a less pasta to filling ratio, as you quickly get filled up with pasta. Tiramisu was less impressive, so subtracting one star. Was saddened, as I was expecting more, due to the great pasta offerings. Their version is more like a creamy rum pudding cake. No ladyfingers. The creamy rum cake had a slight fruity, almost banana after taste. Very slight flavor of chocolate from the cocoa dusting on top. Could not detect any coffee flavor at all. I took a picture of their ingredients to show you. It was too rich and sweet for me. I could see buying ladyfingers, dipping them in Marsala and placing in pan. I would add expresso powder and La Pastas tiramisu. Put grated chocolate on top and let sit. Will come back to try meat, more pasta and sauces, cooking items and hand over my paycheck. It was a great find.

Creamy Kale and Hazelnut Pesto

This is a small cute storefront that sells fresh ingredients for creating your own pasta dish at home. I got the Hot Italian Sausage ($14), Black Squid Ink Pasta ($9), and Creamy Kale and Hazelnut Pesto ($9). All ingredients were quality and tasty when mixed together. I'm not too sure how to describe these things as they taste just as their names would suggest. I have no complaints about them at all. These 3 ingredients lasted me 3 meals, which comes out to about $11/meal. That's not too bad for some fresh ingredients. I would definitely come back and try their other pastas, sauces, meats, and soups. They have a wide variety of selection and I'm sure it's all very good.

A box of Smoked Salmon ravioli

- Yummy pasta, why don't you get some? - * This is for purchase made from the La Pasta in Kirkland Parkplace. If you assume the pasta quality is consistent, then you shall proceed reading :P Food: 4 stars Price: 3 stars Overall: 3.5 stars Food: On the box, it claimed the cooking time to be 6 minutes. However, the edges of our ravioli was still pretty hard. I think I cooked it for like 12 minutes, just like how I usually cook my dumpling (you know, add cold water once it boils, repeat 3 times). I used a regular tomato sauce with some stir-fried onion slices to accompany it. I'm out of cheese powders, so I just added some Italian seasoning and seaweed (I KNOW I KNOW! JUST FOR THE LOOK OK? haha!). It came out yummy even though I'm not a fan of ravioli. Price: My husband got 35 pieces of smoked salmon ravioli for ~$12, which is a bit pricy for me since I'm cheap. But it's an okay price as ravioli are usually really expensive in restaurants. Overall: Consider it's easy to cook, I'd give it a 4 stars. However, the cooking time it definitely more than 6 minutes unlike you like HARD ravioli edges! BTW, my husband got the pasta from the La Pasta in Kirkland Parkplace, so don't kill me if you can't find your smoke salmon ravioli in this store!

The finished product! Beet Pasta with Creamy Kale and Hazelnut Pesto. YUM!!!

This is an amazing neighborhood gem! It's in an unassuming building that shares a wall with a convenience store but don't let that fool you - this pasta is gold! I wanted to buy everything - on my list for next time: smoked salmon ravioli, lemon-pepper linguine, mushroom cream sauce... it seriously all looked heavenly. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices. This is going to be a neighborhood go-to!

We are having a friend over for dinner this week who we have not seen in over a year, so we wanted to make it extra nice. This is a PERFECT place to stop for a host/hostess/housewarming gift, FYI. There is local honey, wine, meats, tamales, cheese, fresh pasta they make themselves, pantry items and canned goods like St. Jude's tuna. Plus Sweet Alchemy ice cream! I grabbed a jar of pickled asparagus and had to resist buying some really tempting dip they make in-house. As I was checking out, the staff person mentioned that the Tall Grass baked goods in the case were free because they were two days old and would be replaced the next morning by a fresh batch. So nice! I brought home a savory spinach breakfast item with me, which my partner greatly appreciated. Hint: Make sure you have cash on hand for a tip! They can't include tips on card purchases.

We love to eat family style, so it was nice to sample a wide range. My daughter loves the carbonara. The mushroom and truffle oil with spaghetti could have been more truffle-y. The porchetta sandwich had good flavors with the crispy focaccia, tender porchetta and marinated eggplant. Pasta is cooked al dente. If you want the pasta cooked longer, let them know. I swung by on a Saturday night with some friends after 8PM and the store was pretty empty, but it sounds like they might have stopped doing open seating recently. Carbonara (4.5/5): Definitely the best of their pasta options. Super crunchy bits of guanciale with a super creamy, cheesy sauce. Thick and satisfying, especially with their bucatini if that's available. Polpette and Ragu (3.75/5): Tried these a couple times and they aren't bad, but don't blow my mind. The creamier options are just much richer and the tomato sauces are just a bit standard. Porchetta Sandwich (2/5): The sandwich is not good. Stick to the pasta. The fillings were cold, which was surprising, and while I actually quite liked the eggplant and green chimichurri-esque sauce, the focaccia is a crime. Insanely dry and not fluffy. Tiramisu (4.25/5): Actually, super delicious and comes in an adorable little mug. Not overly sweet, great light cream and melt in your mouth sponge, with a great balance of flavors.

When you enter the restaurant, the kiosk is front and center, and you place your order on the touch screens. There are typically 4 types of pasta to choose from, and about 4 sauces. There are salads and sides that you can add to the pasta. I love burrata, and so that was my add-on. The kitchen is always in full swing, with lots of activity, and is open to the public for viewing as they prepare meals. When your meal/order is ready, your name appears on the screen, and one of the employees calls your name. Seating is available after you place your order, and water is self-service as well. I love the cost-reducing atmosphere of the place. The place is well lit, and the staff is pleasant and helpful. I had pesto sauce with spaghetti and a salad. The pasta was supposed to be al dente, but came to the table cold, with a bit of a crunch and a sticky-to-the-tooth texture. This really did take away from the meal. The burrata was okay, but it seemed to be better prepared when they first opened. Again, this is a place I have come to look forward to, and I enjoyed the previous menu. Also, the website menu does not match the in-store menu at all. Because I love the neighborhood vibe of the place and the no-nonsense model they use, I have to go back to see if they can recapture what got my attention when they first opened. My only advice is to prepare the pasta as advertised.

We did find seating and there is seating in the restaurant portion, as well as down the stairs. It's a cute little place in the heart of pike place. We got the lasagna casalinga, from the farm, and from the sea pastas. Lasagna casalinga: I love lasagna but I've never had a white sauce lasagna before. I really loved this and I loved it a lot more than I expected. It has peas, sausage, and mushrooms, made with in house bechamel sauce. I thought this might feel super heavy and rich since it was a cream sauce but it wasn't! It was creamy without the feeling of being "too much" when eating it! That's always my worry whenever I eat cream pastas or sauces, that I can only eat a few bites and then feel full bc it the richness. The mushrooms, pea, and sausage worked so nicely into the flavoring of the lasagna and the sausage was flavorful and seasoned well. I believe it's a pork sausage which in my option always tastes great. From the farm: this was my absolute favorite! I always lean towards ragu or bolognese sauce, it's my favorite dish because the flavors become so pronounced during the cooking process. This was a bison ragu with perfectly al dente rigatoni. The bison wasn't gamey and pair so nicely with the ragu because it was able to get in all the crevices of the pasta. We opted for burrata as a topping which gave a really nice creaminess From the sea: this was a spaghetti with rockfish, pea vines, leeks, and harissa. The pasta felt a little Asian inspired, in Chinese cooking we steam whole rockfish and pea vines are a very common veggie dish, so I loved that the elements made me think of my culture. The harissa also gave it a spicy kick which was reminiscent of having chili oil or chili paste on the side at dimsum. While I loved the flavors of this it wasn't my favorite because it was a bit too light. I really wished the flavors were bolder and more pronounced. Rockfish/white fish is very mild fish so the taste is very dependent on the flavors you add to it. However if you like light flavors and fish that isn't too fishy, this is great! This is a really fresh dish so even though it wasn't my favorite doesn't mean it's not a great pasta! I can't wait to come back to try the next rotation of pastas!

I came here over the weekend with my sister for her birthday. Like other reviews mention, seating is a little limited upstairs, but there is additional seating downstairs. We got lucky and grabbed a table right as someone was leaving. The setup is pretty casual: you order at the front register, then they call your name when your food is ready. We tried the lasagna and the rigatoni. The lasagna wasn't quite my favorite -- it reminded me more of a meat pot pie and even had peas in it, which surprised me for a lasagna. That said, if you like hearty pot pie-style flavors, you'd probably enjoy it! The rigatoni was definitely on the salty side, but still really flavorful and delicious. One thing to note is that the menu is pretty limited, and there didn't seem to be a vegetarian or chicken-free option. Also no gluten free or dairy free. Everything had dairy, gluten and red meat. (One fish pasta option.) I personally eat red meat, gluten & sometimes dairy- but I know that could make it harder for a lot of people with stricter allergies. For the freshness, portion sizes, and being located in Pike Place, I actually thought the pricing was pretty reasonable for such a high-tourism area. Overall, I'd come back again if they had other options on the menu and if I was craving pasta & already in the area.
