The best matcha in NY? I think so! Setting: In SoHo, this matcha spot with high ceilings and an interactive experience, has two floors with limited seating. Service: Once you order at the counter, the baristas chat with you as they make your matcha meticulously. Matcha: It was lightly sweet and perfectly earthy! You can choose between hot/iced and your sweetness level. It was truly a refreshing experience.

Matcha latte, basque cheesecake, yuzu madeleine

I heard much hype around this place, and I saw the long lines, but multiple people who have tried the matcha here assured me that that this place was worth it. They were correct. I happened to come on a day where there was no line, and I got an iced matcha latte, a matcha basque cheesecake, and a yuzu madeleine. The matcha latte had great flavor, and you can see the matcha developing a nice velvety texture as the baristas make it in front of you. The cheesecake isn't too sweet, but the yuzu madeleine was the star dessert -- sweet, sour, pillowy, and buttery. Even with no line outside, it still would take 15ish minutes for you to get your drinks and food, because of the matcha preparation process. If you have time to wait (and patience to scope out a seat), it's well worth it.

She's popular, she's busy, she's well known, and all for good reason. 12 matcha somehow retains a refined vibe, while being inviting at the same time. Theres plenty of comfortable seating on both floors, with outlets and wifi. It's a great place to get work done, if you can get a seat that is. You and your matcha go through a journey together: from ordering at the counter, to getting called up when your matcha is being made, where you get a one-to-one experience with the barista whisking your drink. It's a somehow personal and intimate experience, despite the constant influx of customers. I also notice that workers will stop by to offer to fill up your water, which is nice. The matcha itself is also good! It's not too herbal, and they make it just the right amount of sweet. I've been a couple of times, and they're very consistent with the quality of their matcha. It always comes out to the prettiest shade of green too! I also had their hojicha basque cheesecake, and I highly recommend! It's a nice creamy, nutty alternative to the matcha, and is super tasty in its own right. All in all, 12 matcha does live up to the hype, sadly. It really does get packed, so keep that in mind if you want to visit!

Unfortunately, this spot DOES live up to the hype! And unfortunately, the wait IS worth it! Came on a Sat afternoon and waited 45 min, WHEWW. They let ppl in by groups. This spot has 2 floors, but it's indeed PACKED, but seats turnover appropriately. The menu is lean by design. You pretty much only adjust sweetness or milk alt, which has no addtl charge! We got Iced Matcha Lattes with Oat Milk. I got the lowest sweet level, which was perfect! We also got their Basque Cheesecake, which was light, airy, and not too sweet - SO GOOD! Would def return during a down time to avoid the longer wait.

Went during the week before opening and a line was already formed but I was part of the second group so I got in pretty quickly. I got the iced matcha and a yuzu Madeleine and both were delicious. They make the matcha right in front of you and its a one on one experience where you see every step and that person is giving you full attention which is a unique experience and why theres a wait.

Came around 1:40pm and waited on the line for about one hour. The wait is a little bit bearable because I came with friends. When you get closer to the door, there is the staff that tells you to go in. Inside there is about two people near the pastry windows and then four people making the Matcha. I ordered the matcha latte with oat milk. I love the taste! There is a lower level where you can go to hangout and sit for a while. The bathroom is also downstairs. there is limited seats by the first floor.

I went on a Saturday morning around 10:15 am and there was no line outside yet. However, it still took me 45 minutes in total to get my drink. Very rich matcha. Indeed a performative final boss but it's also nice to see your drink being made specifically for you in front of you. I also got free hojicha chocolates because they were celebrating their one year anniversary. Superrrr yummy.

12 Matcha has easily become my new favorite matcha spot in NYC. The whole experience - from ordering to meeting the barista to watching the barista prepare the matcha - was unmatched to any other matcha place I've been to before. The matcha profile here leans on the more savory side, and each cup tasted smooth and creamy. The baristas also are very friendly and open to questions about the matcha. Could not recommend this spot more, though prepare to wait 30 min-1 hour during peak business.

12 MATCHA @ NO HO NEW YORK kept seeing this place all over TikTok, so I had to try it for myself. Getting there is pretty easy there's street parking, or you can take the subway for about $3. You can also Uber or carpool, but my friends and I decided to take the subway, and it was super convenient. When we got there, it didn't even look like a coffee shop at first, it honestly looked like a house. The exterior blends in beautifully with the rest of the buildings on the street, which makes it feel really unique. There was already a line out the door, but luckily it moved pretty fast and we didn't have to wait long. Once we walked in, the vibes were amazing. They have both a downstairs and an upstairs lounge, and a lot of people were just working on their laptops, hanging out, and enjoying their drinks. It felt really cozy and intentional. I ordered their plain matcha latte, which was about $9. What made the experience stand out was how personalized it felt. You get paired with a worker who actually makes the drink in front of you while talking with you. The person we had was incredibly kind and shared how they got into being a matcha enthusiast in New York City, which made the whole experience feel even more special. Watching the matcha being made was honestly one of my favorite parts. The attention to detail, the measurements, and even the color, it was all so satisfying. The matcha itself was strong, high-quality, and really smooth. I do wish they had more flavor options like strawberry or blueberry matcha, but their classic matcha was still delicious and definitely worth trying. They also offer pastries and are known for their cakes, which I'd want to try next time. Overall, I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area, it's more than just a matcha run, it's an experience.

Hands down the best matcha place in New York!! The servers are so nice and provides a really unique experience. I got the matcha latte and matcha basque cheesecake, which were both very rich in the matcha taste and creamy. Didn't stay at the store, unfortunately, because there's not a lot of seating, but seemed really nice and quiet for study vibes.

You can taste the great quality of the matcha. Reminds me of the one I make at home (means I'm doing it right!) It's a solid matcha latte. Be prepared to wait in line. Wait time may vary. Went Saturday morning and the line moved steadily, not too slow. There were a lot of seating areas.

4.5/5 If you like matcha, this place is definitely worth checking out. First, they take your order at the station, and they call your name to prepare your drink(s) in front of you. The matcha quality stands out right away, based on the color alone. The flavor is rich and slightly earthy without being too bitter. We had matcha lattes and hojicha + matcha gelato, the normal sweetness was perfect, despite it having 6g of matcha. The shop itself is small, chicc, and modern. Staff are helpful and friendly, lots of smiles and patience. Limited seatings available and no laptop after 12PM.

I really just came for the matcha cheesecake, which was great but not necessarily worth the wait (got in the line at 2:20 PM on a weekday, had my cheesecake in hand by 2:45). I also had a sip of my friend's matcha americano - very intense/strong matcha flavor, not for me (would try a latte tho).

There are different types of cold treats: gelatos and more slushie like consistency frozen confections that are served in a cup. My vegan friend appreciated that he could choose from multiple vegan flavors, not just be limited to the one and only offering, which is what most places usually have. Melon flavor was incredible. Tasted like frozen melon was crushed with ice and chopped into an ice/smoothie blend. Super refreshing. Very sweet, though. All flavors are very sweet, so a small portion can be shared and you will feel satisfied. I personally enjoyed their in-house special flavor of gelato: honey cream with crushed almonds, pistachios, and hazelnuts. That was bombastic! Love how nutty the consistency was. I love nuts, so this almost reminded me of a chunky peanut butter situation: just more fine grained and smooth, with gelato being the base. Highly recommend trying this flavor! Focacia was okay. A bit too dry and bland for my liking, but still decent. My favorite item was the pistachio bombolone which is officially now my favorite dessert. This was magnificent! The yeasty dough was so light and airy--perfectly light and balanced. The filling of pistachio cream was very delicate and not sweet at all, which was such a nice surprise. I do not like saccharine dessert. The fresh raspberry jam was a perfect balance to the pistachio cream. I never like jams in my desserts, but this was a perfect complement. Woooow, what a treat! Can't wait to return for it and to try more of their other flavors--hazelnut & chocolate, coconut, white chocolate, tiramisu. You could taste the superb quality of the ingredients. Highly recommend.

In the mood for gelato so good it ruins all other gelato for you?…read more Amorino Gelato in NYC is easily one of my favs! I was just walking by when they were handing out samples, took one bite, and immediately turned around to buy a full serving. It was THAT good. In fact, I went back the very next day... no regrets. Ambiance is cozy and open. Every scoop felt like a little moment, smooth, rich, and packed with flavor. But let me be clear: the blueberry cheesecake??? Elite. Unmatched. I will absolutely die on that hill. If you're anywhere nearby, stop in. Seriously, you won't be sorry.

There's just something special about their gelato--especially when topped with that rich pistachio sauce. On a previous visit to their Times Square location, I had one of their more decadent creations: gelato with waffle sticks and pistachio sauce. It was absolutely heavenly and incredibly delicious. This time, I didn't have room for something quite as indulgent, but I still wanted something sweet after dinner at La Basque. The closest Amorino was in Greenwich Village, just a 10-minute walk away. That walk alone is always a treat--Greenwich Village is charming, pedestrian-friendly, and full of outdoor dining and energy, especially on a September Saturday afternoon. I grabbed my gelato to-go and chose the amarena and hazelnut flavors, topped with the signature pistachio sauce. They poured the sauce at the bottom of the cup, and it hardened slightly to create a delicious shell underneath the gelato. I enjoyed it while walking through the Village, soaking in the late-summer atmosphere of the city with gelato in hand. Simple, sweet, and exactly what I needed.
