The thing is, there was no flavor, no seasoning it was just well cooked bland tough Meat. Also stop steaming in plastic bags. You are not only putting plastic particles into the food of all your guests but you are cooking the veg (I had broccoli) way to early and it is going from a beautiful vegetable that should have some texture to it, to literal mush that had started to go yellow and army green. Over all you can go and have an ok time but be prepared to spend a chunk of $$ on just ok.

If the cutoff was strict, we should have been told that before being seated, especially since we asked about it upfront. Instead, we wasted our time only to be given completely different information by another employee. The lack of communication between the staff was frustrating and unprofessional. We chose to leave rather than order from the regular menu. Hopefully management can improve communication so future guests don't have the same experience.

Suggest you order meat cooked to a higher level of doneness as they tend to go light on cooking. I ordered medium and got almost rare. Son ordered medium well and got high medium. Truffle fries were plentiful and a bit too salty with the Kosher salt. A decent dinner. One Maxx Burger ($21.85) inhaled by the 16 year old male. Liked it. One Kid Chicken Tenders ($10.30) with three sides. She liked the mashed potatoes and the chicken. One Chicken Picatta ($25.50), a special. Son paid the bill, I don't have receipt. Suggest you tell your waiters/bussers to wait until everyone is done, to ask if it is OK to take the plates and get it done. The slow eaters are under the gun to hurry up...and we, after dinner, thought that Burton's wanted diners to move quickly through their meals and clear out for other guests. This was evident when our server, who was not very well-versed, asked for dessert orders. We said no desserts. He left the table for a rather long time and returned, again asking for dessert orders. Obviously he was stymied not having that item accomplished. He left. Again, after quite a pause, we flagged another server down and asked for our bill. So, great menu and decent offerings, but we felt rushed. We all agreed, over ice cream bought at another vendor. Will be back. Burton's has a lot going for it, so will be worth your time, effort and money.

It was served in a bowl with the chili garlic sauce in a tiny bowl on the side. The pieces were wayyy too big to pick up with the chopsticks and for the mouth. But if you managed to get the thing in your mouth, it was super hot and basically burned your mouth. Like there was no option to take a bite it was either shove the whole thing in your mouth or not eat it at all. The rolls we ordered were the Mr Crabby, which was the only good thing we ordered. The Naruto, which had too many layers of cucumber wrapped around it and the pieces were mini. The villain, a $25 roll with caviar on top, but the caviar was so sparse, it could barely be seen with the naked eye. Rainbow roll was ok but again, the pieces were tiny. Every roll was flavorless and the price point was stupid. $122 plus tip for a bland lunch was retarded. Super disappointed.

Which one of us? She refused. We waited for the police in order to vindicate ourselves. During this time, a male employee got in one of our faces, hands raised, yelling and aggressively using racial slurs. The manager defended HIM. Other employees then again accused us of stealing and said we are on camera. Once the police came, they said you can't tell who it is on camera. After we finished dinner, we went to the bar and ordered a drink. We sat and talked and then proceeded to leave. Who steals and then sits there and PAYS for more drinks? We each had a purse and a carry out bag with the rest of the main course. Imagine a small side salad sized container with a piece of overcooked steak they had the nerve to serve us. I'm saying this to say it is a very lightweight takeout bag and none of our purses were big enough to hold a bottle of liquor. I will be updating this thread when I have more time to get ALL of the details out. This story WILL be told. I have never experienced trauma like this!!! I don't have pictures of the food; it honestly wasn't that good anyway. Full review in the pictures. It was too long to put in the comments.

We visited this restaurant last night and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience. The service itself was good -- our server, Priscila, was kind and attentive throughout the evening. However, the food left a lot to be desired. My prime rib sandwich was served cold, with a sauce that came in what looked like a coffee cup, which was quite odd. My husband's filet mignon was tough and not enjoyable. The biggest issue of the night, though, was a cockroach we saw crawling on the wall right above us while we were eating. I informed Priscila, and although we tried to carry on with our meal, we were very uncomfortable and concerned about the restaurant's hygiene. Just as we decided to leave, the cockroach flew to another picture frame, which startled us and made the atmosphere even worse. Shortly after, what seemed to be the manager came to our table with another staff member to "look" for the insect. The server couldn't find it because it had gone behind the frame, and the manager simply said, "If you see it again, let us know," with a visibly annoyed expression -- as if it were our responsibility to track it down, or as if staying there was still an option. We were celebrating a special occasion and this completely ruined our evening. We left feeling frustrated and disappointed. Sadly, we would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I moved to Charlotte a couple months ago, so I'm not familiar with the restaurants in the area. I have asked around for recommendations and pretty much every single person I talked to raved about 131 Main. Of course, I had to try it! My boyfriend and I decided to have date night this weekend at 131 Main. We started out with the double dip and it was outstanding! I ordered the Big Island Ribeye with fries as my side. It was so full of flavor and grilled to perfection and those fries are to die for! We couldn't leave without trying the peanut butter pie. Holy cow! Devine! Overall, the food was outstanding, amazing service and friendly staff, and great atmosphere! We will DEFINITELY be back!!!! read more

The food here is always great. It's consistently a sumptuous place to have a meal and a drink. The servers are all very attentive and polite. Even when the restaurant is busy it seems like every employee goes out of their way to acknowledge me and create an even sense of diligence. It's a nice reprieve, noting that some of the surrounding restaurants are somewhat lacking in that aspect! Extremely disappointed. We were so excited for our first time going to 131 main and could not be more excited to leave. There was open seating at the bar, we helped ourselves, and sat at a dirty place setting, no acknowledgement and no order, for 5 minutes. They were slightly busy, we understand that, however saying a quick hello, be with you soon would've helped. I will not suggest this place to anyone due to the very poor customer service. We are now at another restaurant, happier and delighted to take our money here. read more

What can i not say about this place? It's like an upscale applebees. You order and the food never takes forever to arrive on your table fresh and sound. The food is cooked to perfection. I have tried many of their dishes, i normally settle for their salmon with wild rice salad which is absolutely amazing. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere is very much alive. Without a doubt, one of my favorite places. If you go and get only one thing, get the banana cream pie with chunks of real banana, chocolate shavings and fresh whip cream. This is one of my favorite spots! Atmosphere is very sleek and modern and the food is fresh and delicious. There are also quite a few creative dishes to choose from. Flavors you won't find anywhere else. Love the sweet tea, double dip, french fries, and trout. Try their slaw with peanuts in it! Prices are moderate. This is our favorite restaurant in the area. The burgers are the best we've ever had and the shoestring fries are always fresh and delicious. Their dirty martinis with blue cheese olives are a little pricey at $12 each but they are to die for! Only downside is that they keep it so dark in there that it's kind of hard to see. Excellent choice in the Ballantyne area - food is prepared fresh (they don't have a freezer) Try the Prime Rib (ultra tender and succulent), ribs,main salad and cedar plank salmon. Perhaps not extraordinarily inventive, but always spot on, consistent and delicious. Good service as well. read more

One set of elder ladies were trying to figure of their secret of how they make them so delicious. The pancakes were beautiful! They were fully cooked throughout and had a great exterior texture. Soft and fluffy but with a touch of a griddle crunch on the edges. Just absolutely perfection. The kitchen is significantly punching above their weight on how they're cooking items. Truly the best brunch I have had in I do not know how long. My water glass was constantly full. Dexter was attentive, completely a lovely person and I enjoyed reading the newspaper over my breakfast. Dexter is truly a seasoned professional and just comes across so kind and genuine. Really glad I had the opportunity and pleasure to be seated in his section by the kind hostess.

I expected more of Ritz Carlton restaurant experience and they are not quite there. We arrived around 2pm for lunch and their hours are till 3pm. The waiters seems to be arguing with receptionist that they should stop taking customers in at 2pm. But we were seated reasonably quickly. The food choices were good overall. We were able to get brunch - omelettes, grilled cheese sandwiches and they were able to modify flatbread to make it vegetarian for us. Next morning we had good breakfast overall - omelettes were good, waffles are nice with berries and they were able to make minor changes like add chocolate chips but again I expected this restaurant to be Conrad or JW or Ritz level but it is not simply there. They charged us 18% gratuity we were only four people, so that was a bit odd. But we didn't have time to protest and otherwise the tip was going to be 15%. Ambiance is of a restaurant one might see in Marriott or Westin not five star vibes.

She hid in the kitchen while we were there and the bartender or the manager handled cashing us out. This is Barringtons - this is not the service one expects from a restaurant that is known as one of the best in Charlotte.

Parking can be a challenge, the close in lots are all pay using an App but I found the Boyle Garage a block away was FREE. Melissa said there is a 'private dining room' that can be reserved in the back of the main dining room. However at times when it's not reserved you can request seating there where it's much quieter! They have very nice covered patio and live music on Wed evenings. I will be returning for certain and will ALWAYS ask for Melissa!
