Food is great, but the last experience we had here was very disappointing. The bartender refused to wear a mask, even though we had masks on. We felt we could not take ours off because of his refusal. He was also very smug when we questioned his non- masking. Additionally, a man who appeared to be the manager was also unmasked. Charlotte, NC location: The food here is delicious! However, today (6/27, after Governor Cooper's mandatory mask ordinance) we went to grab an early dinner and was greeted by a lovely unmasked young man! As we proceeded to our table, we were greeted by another lovely unmasked staffer. When we inquired why 96% of the staff did not have on masks, the server, stated he had to get his Manager. A few minutes later, another wonderfully unmasked young man stated that the staff that considered themselves exempt, did not have to wear masks and that management was not allowed to inquire further. We looked towards the kitchen and noticed NO ONE had on a mask- not the chef, food preparers, no one. Which means everyone has an exemption?? Without medical certification or interactive process for a reasonable accommodation? At that point, we decided to leave. We were not willing to risk our health- not even for good food. We will never return! Instead, we headed over to Firebird's in Stonecrest where everyone adorned masks - including the kitchen staff, hosts, bartender, servers, etc! Thanks for caring Firebird's! 131 Main, we're so disappointed in your lack of care for public health and direct violation of government orders. Not a business we'd ever frequent again. We go to 131 at least once a week. The service is top notch and the food is always on point every single time. The restaurant is always clean. The manager Tom is probably one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. One thing I do like is that the staff works as a team and is very well organized. Give it a try you will not regret it. Everything about 131 Main is on the mark, but IDK, I feel like it charges high prices simply to remain pretentious. Every time I eat there, I can find nothing to complain about, except for the hit it makes on my pocketbook. Maybe I just am a bit bitter about it, but should a burger, wedge salad (deconstructed) and a prime rib sammich along with one round of drinks for a party of 3 really come in at $120 + tip? So while yes, the food is delicious, the waitstaff attentive, the atmosphere appealing, it loses that elusive 5th star as I just simply feel it's trying too hard to be something more than it really needs to be. read more

I sadly don't know where to begin. We were out looking for a place to eat for a very rare date night. The establishment received 2 stars based on atmosphere for the food was no where near what I was expecting for the price or the Yelp reviews. We ordered the 8oz filet and Cobb Salad and good thing for we were planning of splitting both however to me the steak was not editable. Why ask how one would like it cooked of you do not follow? We ordered it medium however it came dry, crispy and done, very done. The restaurant was very busy due to graduation but I still expect the quality of food to be the same. Had a business lunch here for first time. Great spot! It was a little dark inside for me for a lunch meeting but place had a great vibe and food was great and portions were huge. If you are hungry and like pork: the pork chop is for you! Massive and perfectly cooked. I had the ahi salad: excellent. The banana pudding was also massive and good. We had reservations but we did have to wait several minutes after our reservation time. Our first time here and sad that the restaurant was only half full because of Covid. The Island Ribeye is something from another planet. It was so good that I distracted someone in my party to steal a bite after I was done with mine. Rude? Eh. Good fries. Pretty good ribs. Service was excellent. They forgot straws requested by others for a while, but no big deal. Last night, I watched Below Deck: Mediterranean and the primary (primary guest) asked for nuts. They didn't arrive in time, and she kept saying to her friends in a whiny voice, "I want my nuts. Where are my nuts? I want my nuts!" I'm not going to lie; I was laughing my ass off. So, I didn't want to be "that guy" or "that person" with the straws. I like to have fun. Therefore, it's a good thing I didn't think of asking the waitress if they had nuts. If it was a "No," I might have gone on and on with, "I want my nuts. Where are my nuts? I want my nuts!" I would have done it quietly and in a friendly/joking way though. The conversation was good, which you might think had nothing to do with 131 Main, but you would be sorely mistaken. You see, the lights are dim, the service is friendly, the alcohol is flowing, and the food is way above average. This leads to a good mood and quality conversation, such as my Great Gram Gene always sticking her permanently crooked middle finger out to people and saying, "Five doctors for one f*cking finger!" 131 Main is expensive. $30 tip tonight. Came as a group of 5 for lunch. Had the tacos for appetizer then steak and chicken sandwiches for the main. I got the crab cakes. Plus coffee, banana cream pie and crème brûlée for dessert. Everyone in our group complimented the food. Each serving included a unique twist that elevated the dish from the mundane. Service was fast and attentive. Dining area had subdued lighting and good acoustics. Felt like we had the place to ourselves but it was actually about 70%. Would recommend this resto highly. read more

This place reminds me of Houston's Restaurant in South Florida. It's a nice restaurant with a dark, intimate setting and the menu is short and sweet. I made an appointment so I can't complain about wait times. The servers were all friendly and courteous and the food was A+! My 12 oz Big Island Ribeye was so delicious and perfectly cooked that I didn't leave a thing on my plate. I skipped the fries and went for the mashed potatoes which were so good! The Double Cut Pork Chop is MASSIVE and can definitely be shared. Their prices are reasonable compared to the quality and amount they serve. Their Key Lime Pie is a MUST! Being from Florida I haven't found any decent Key Lime Pie, but this place is top notch! read more

The original 131 Main... I'm so happy to see this restaurant grow to 4 NC locations! This location is the one I frequent the most. The staff there is great, food is terrific & drinks are refreshing! I only wish there was more seating. The Lake Norman crowd loves 131 Main too, so they stay busy a lot. :) Go with the Thai steak salad, prime rib or crab cakes for an entree...double dip, scallops or cornbread as your appetizer. I'm giving 2 stars because our final server was awesome! We're here visiting NC from Illinois. We decided to try 131 Main for dinner. This was the worse decision we'd made since our visit. The entire staff was rude. The first young man who provided us with saucers; provided them with an attitude, he practically slammed our plates on the table, he left us speechless. The second staff member who brings the entree suddenly appears at our table, no communication, he's waiting for us to grab our plates, we guess. I've never visited an eating establishment where the server doesn't place your entree on the table in front of you. I KID YOU NOT, we had to ask for water! I'm 55 years of age, water has to be the Server/Waiter/Waitress 101. This was a horrible experience. We'll never, ever visit this restaurant again. We conversed with our friends today; Saturday and shared our experience with them considering a couple of them live here. Our friends informed us that we should have dined at 131 Main at Southend for a much better experience. However, I'll never dine at any 131 Main Restaurants. read more

Wow, this place is absolutely amazing. Yes, a five star worth restaurant. I came here for lunch with my family, the restaurant was packed and there was an expected 45 minute wait, we were seated in a booth within 5 minutes. The service was fantastic and staff was consistently checking in on us without being overbearing. We started with the deviled eggs and skillet jalapeño cornbread. As much as I'd like to go into detail about the dishes, I'll maintain some mystery for you. Though, I will reveal this was the best cornbread I have ever tasted. The deviled eggs were great as well. As for mains some of our outstanding courses were prime rib sandwich and the veggie burger. Both were amazing and served with shoestring fries. We ordered them extra crispy and there was a noticeable difference between fries. Every detail was perfect. I will be coming back for dinner this week! read more
