Stopped here with some friends after having dinner nearby. One person in our group swears by the Chocolate Chunk Muffin and wanted us to experience the bliss that was this muffin. Well...I loved it. So much so that I went back the next day to order it along with a Purple Haze! The staff here is friendly and quick. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, with plenty of indoor seating to do work. The vibe is quite nice inside, and they know it! Their signage outside reads, "Come for the Coffee, Stay for the Vibes." I sure did, 1418 Coffee House! First time trying this cute coffee shop in downtown Plano. Parking was easy due to the free garage behind the building. We split a cinnamon roll (not pictured) and it was good but the dough was flaky and not gooey and moist. The frosting was great though. I had the iced lavender haze and it was delicious! The drake sandwich was just okay due to it being very one note from the mayo and Brie. It needed more of a tartness or punch from the berry that was suppose to be in the mayo. Their signature drink, a lavender latte, is very good and they have a nice selection of pastries as well. Copious comfy couches give the place a college hangout feel. The interior can feel a bit cramped, but I've never had too much difficulty finding a seat. It's crowded whenever I've been, so I try not linger too long after I've finished my cup. Came here for a coffee on the way out of town. It's definitely a busy coffee shop with lots of foot traffic. Since it was my first time, I figured I'd try one of the specialty lattes so got the iced purple haze (latte with lavender and vanilla). I normally love lavender lattes so this had a twist. I had to get a slice of pie as well since I've never had emporium pies. The employee recommended the ebony and ivory which is a hazelnut and Nutella spread in a shortbread crust. I really hate to do this but I gotta update to 3 stars. Their coffee and specialty drinks are amazing, currently sipping on an iced mocha I just got. The reason for losing a star is because I have a reward available (as you can see in this photo it's been available since July) and I have been in 3 times since July. The first time I came in and they told me I had an available reward I told them I'd wait until next time. Next time came, (couple weeks ago) and they told me they switched systems and can honor the rewards but it was no longer by scanning- and told me to enter my phone number. The person working couldn't figure it out, I was holding up the line so I just hurried up and paid. This time, today, I came in asking to finally use my free reward, held up the line so they can figure it out, and they still couldn't honor it or figure it out. I was greater warmly by the employee at the counter. He made me feel welcome and brought out my drink and sandwich to me pretty quickly after I ordered. Food: My drink was really good. I got an iced chair latter with almond milk. Alas the sandwich(hugjly recommended by the employees) as not good. I got the chicken salad sandwich. It was very run of the mill and not as good as the employees had hyped it up. I am taking off two stars instead of one because it was an employee recommendation or else I most likely would have chosen something else. Ambience: I really liked the ambience. Very relaxed atmosphere with dim lighting. They have outdoor seating as well. Getting a sit might be difficult as the space isn't too large and it looks like it is a popular spot. Outlets are plentiful by the tables and not too available at the common side table with the bar stools. Nice big front windows give lot of natural lighting. Music isn't crazy loud. Value: The drink was reasonably priced similar to most coffesshops but my sandwich was not worth the $7.50. I'm a big fan of 1418 - I find myself here for several hours almost every Thursday afternoon, and it's a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Excellent coffee (and tea!), with interesting, excellent seasonal choices. Great food options, with a good selections of pastries, pie by the slice, and a few well-curated sandwich selections. There's plenty of seating and outlets, and even a high bar on one wall that can work as a standing desk. It's never too loud to work effectively, and the ambiance is generally excellent. The wifi is great, the bathrooms are clean and well stocked, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, I love the option of sitting outside when the weather is pretty, and there's abundant nearby free street parking. A couple of things to be aware of - most of the seating is low sofas and comfy chairs, and the tables at the back are always occupied, so if you have back issues it might not be the best remote work spot. Also, it is a very popular place, and most of the seating is in clusters of 3-4, so if you're on your own you should be prepared to sit with strangers. That said, it's never been so busy that I couldn't find a place to sit and work - there's always been something available somewhere. Fantastic. One of my favorites. I only hope it's here for me to visit for years to come. read more

We popped in because we heard their cold brew was good. On a Friday late morning during the COVID-19 pandemic, we were surprised to find almost every seat inside and outside filled with people chatting, working, and reading with no masks on. Most of them were not actively eating or drinking. My husband and I wore face coverings and felt like we were in an alternate reality. The coffee itself was fine. I had a pepper iced latte which was pretty good and extra spicy with cayenne. Unfortunately the cold brew was not our favorite. It had a "thick" mouthfeel and extremely robust. It wasn't enjoyable to drink but would be fine if you need caffeine. Probably better to have a very small cup of that versus the large serving. I would love to come back after COVID-19 pandemic has settled because it looks like a lovely shop to serve as a third place. But I just don't feel safe going back there for now and would advise anyone else trying to take extra precautions to stay away! read more

I used to live in McKinney and frequented Emporium Pies often (they have AMAZIN' APPLE PIE). I moved 20 miles away and was still going out there but figured I'd do a search to see if there was one closer to me and came across 1418 Coffee House. They carry Emporiums pies (YAAAY) but the vibe and energy of this place are what keeps me coming back. Oh, and their awesome coffee too). Every time I visit I have to be gently reminded they will be closing soon (LOL). The baristas are super friendly, open, and welcoming. Took my family out here to hang out on Father's Day. Parking was extremely easy to find in the back as well as 1 hour parking right in front. We were able to find seating super easy for our party of 6 and were really comfortable with the cool chairs they had. We ordered all sorts of drinks and pastries but what was the most notable to me was the triple berry tart and Americano. The triple berry tart was a delicious combination with my Americano. Best Americano drank so far, it was not acidic and perfectly roasted. The vibes here were super chill and my family and I had super great time just hanging out and talking. Love love love this place. The vibe is so relaxing and gives off the perfect coffeehouse ambiance (not to mention it's beautiful in there). The service is always great here. Even if they are super busy and slammed they will still make conversation with you and always do so with a smile. They get your drinks done in a timely manner as well. I really enjoy the dirty chai. I get it with breve (half and half). It's so creamy and smooth and is the perfect mix of espresso and chai. I also love the cortado!! My favorite specialty coffee shop in Plano, I'm not quite sure why it took me so long to write a review. I probably thought since I like it so much I definitely already wrote one haha. The vibe at 1418 is exactly what I want from a shop, super cozy with a nice mix of tables to work at and couches to talk with friends. The vibe and coffee is solid (serving up Oak Cliff Coffee) so the only problem is finding a place to sit! I often come here on a Saturday and there are no seats so I go to another shop. They have all the regular espresso bar drinks, slow bar options- French Press and multiple pour over options. Side note the V60 and Clever pour over are only $3, cheaper than almost anywhere else I've been. $5 French Press for two. And if you want beyond coffee they have tea, sweet drinks, and even Emporium Pies :o also if you come early enough there is Taco Deli too. Basically everything you could ever want is at 1418.
