What a wonderful little restaurant! We've been looking online for Japanese flavours as we're pining for them and this didn't disappoint. The Tonkatsu Bento special was delicious. Beautifully presented in a round bowl on a bed of rice with a delicate and flavorful side salad. The sauce was on point and the breading crispy on juicy tender pork. The miso soup was also very good. I'm feeling a bit under the weather and was delighted to find a Japanese fizzy vitamin C drink (similar to the ones in 7/11 Japan) in the cooler. If you haven't been, you're missing out! It's been a while since I've been back but I went when they first opened and ordered their salmon bento which was delicious! They were out of it today so I tried something different and got their chicken katsu bento ($16) + miso ($2). Equally delicious and the crisp on it was immaculate! Imo it was the perfect amount of sauce ratio, not too much to make it soggy but enough to add good flavor and not have the dish be so dry. The gyoza was super tasty as well. I was so impressed that it had some ice skirt/dumpling lace on it since most places around this price point don't cook theirs this way. Someone here knows how to cook and it shows! I can't understand why it's not busy in here because their food is very good and the owner is super nice! The place itself is very cool, gives off chill izakaya vibes. Reasonable prices and a tasty bento. Bentos came with miso soup, gyoza, salad, potato salad, and a small group of vegetables as well as a main. I got the tonkatsu and it was great, comparable to the ones I had in Japan. I will certainly try the sandos next time. The miso soup was high quality. Edit: Returned and tried the Sandos with the Sandos sampler. They were all very delicious and honestly even better than the bento. I forgot to take a picture before devouring them all. read more

My review from Nov 2024: "A super cute place we found out had opened through TikTok. Partner and I have both been to Japan this year and found the flavors to be pretty authentic. Perhaps the bentos were a bit overpriced for value, but we were happy to eat that price to support a small business. I got yakiniku beef in my bento and partner got Tonkatsu-- both were good, but I personally thought the tonkatsu was better. We came for dinner so the sandwich and salad area was empty, but I think I would return to try them!" I've since visited last month and got a tonkotsu sando that I very much enjoyed. My husband and I were so excited to try this place! It's located in a strip mall, which was a little unexpected. The only downside was the wait -- we stood in line for a while and then waited quite a bit for our food to come out. We were hoping for a quick lunch, but it ended up taking about an hour. What a great spot! We were in the mood for Japanese somewhere around UTD and stopped in to Yokozuna. The restaurant itself is clean and inviting and we were greeted right away. We were advised that they had just gotten a bunch of orders so our service was going to be delayed. Since we had time, we went ahead and ordered. The food was excellent! We had the chicken Katsu Bento and the Chicken Katsu Curry and both were served hot and fresh. The breading was delightfully crisp and light with great flavors. Kudos to the young lady taking orders and serving the food. We saw some other guests not as patient as we were and she did everything in her power to assist them and maintained a smile and positive attitude. We will definitely be back to try some Sandos! read more

Straying away from my semi-usual Sunday lunch. I stepped in next door (same shopping center) Ive always been wanting to try this place but my Vietnamese lunch place always win. I don't know their rice plate is my weakness but today I'm here to try their pork bento special, Tonkatsu Bento . Walking in, you are immediately greeted with a cheery voice behind the counter along with the happy music in the background. Small place but the space is laid of perfectly to accommodate more people. Tonkatsu Bento for $14 is more than enough for 1 person. I couldn't even finish this serving but I'm excited for my left over. Definitely coming back to try their sandos for next time. read more

I went on a Thursday after work and the relaxing beats to the awesome service definitely brought the day to a great end! I got the Sando sampler which is a mix of egg salad, pork, and chicken katsu. The ones made to order were fresh fried! If you are in a hurry, I do rec the Togo section if you gotta get back to work. There's snacks and the Mitsuya Cider in a fun industrial type can is def the move with the crispy fried katsu! Def worth checking out! read more

We had a great experience at Yokozuna. It has a surprisingly spacious interior with quite a few tables. We got the fruit sandos, katsu bento, and the egg sandos. Everything was delicious and made to order. The bento had a lot of fresh Japanese pickles, veggies, and salad. It was an amazing balance of freshness and flavors. The salad dressing tasted like it was just made and had great flavor. The sandos were all really delicious as well. The girl at the front was nice enough to allow us to substitute the strawberry for an extra grape which was great. Usually we get sandos from Mitsuwa and they've been sitting around and get a little soggy. This was definitely not the case here. A freshly made sando is a gamechanger. The cream inside the fruit one was also very smooth and not overly sweet. Can't wait to come back and try more! read more

Sando Sampler - comes with spicy chicken, tamago salad and tonkatsu! All the sandwiches were fresh and the bread was so soft and fluffy! Spicy Chicken - it has like pink pickled radish which gives extra flavor. The spice comes from gochujang which gives it a bit of a kick but it's not too noticeable. The sauce is well distributed and in a good amount! Tamago Salad - egg is well mixed with the rest of the ingredients to give a very creamy texture and taste! It is well seasoned and delicious! Tonkatsu - it's super crunchy and the cabbage is fresh too! Overall a delicious flavor and the crunch of the chicken + cabbage mixed well with the soft bread! Also seasoned well and probably my favorite of the three! VIBES There is wooden seating and some people also just order to-go! There's also a little claw machine and small trinkets you can purchase. I came in on a Sunday and there wasn't that much stuff available during that time. I ended up getting the Ube Fruit Sando and Spicy Chicken Katsu Sando. I really liked the Ube Fruit Sando. Adorable little spot. The inside had cute little wooden booths and tables, very clean I was very excited for Japanese sandos & Bento... both I LOVE. Ordered: 1. Tamago (egg) Sando - mild on flavor, excellent egg salad to bread ratio, great presentation. 2. Miso Salmon Bento - this was incredible! The miso sauce on the salmon was blowing my mind with flavor. I wish they would list the items you'll receive in the box because there was a tofu dish that I can't stop thinking about ...it was a little spicy in a brown sauce and I think another meat? It was delicious. No idea what it is. The dressing on the salad was addicting, I only wish I could have ordered an extra. I would definitely come back to try other items....But most likely I'll be ordering the salmon again! I ordered takeout, it took a bit of time to get my food but ultimately, worth it. This Is my second time trying a sando and I have to say it was a lot better then first time. I think this location is a underrated place in Plano. The staff was friendly and talked with us. Cute vibes inside with plenty of booth seating available. We got both the sweet and savory ones and really enjoyed both. My favorite was the spicy chicken. The fruit was fresh and cream made daily. It felt very fresh, especially since we walked in right as they opened. read more

Solid sandos! Tried the tamago and the matcha/strawberry sandos and both were fantastic. The bread is nice and soft, with just a little bit of chew for some great texture. The tamago is light and creamy- very good. The matcha/strawberry was a nice dessert, not too sweet. Only downside to these sandos is that you gotta be careful or the contents will spill out the opposite end haha. Will have to come back and try some of their bento boxes now! read more

After a long day of work I went to visit a friend at the cool new Sando place and wow, is delightful! The staff and owner are so kind and the vibe is casual but also cozy decor. Miso soup - warm and more fishy than normal restaurant miso soup, which was pleasantly surprising. Comforting and cozy. Takoyaki - warm, scrumptious, classic. Sando sampler - katsu Sando balanced with good distribution of chicken / pork and cabbage. Egg salad was my favorite! The strawberry matcha is everything I wished for from the Texas deep fried matcha but not fried. The matcha cream is fluffy and the strawberries are perfectly tart. Overall, absolutely lovely. Solid sandos and scratches the itch. I love tamago/egg sandos, and this one is delicious. I appreciate that they trim the crust bc it makes my inner 5yo happy lol. Hubs has gotten their chicken katsu and tonkatsu and enjoyed both (preference for tonkatsu though). Next time I go back, I'd be curious to try their fruit sandos. :) read more

It's a small restaurant and you walk up to the cashier to order. For the 2 of us, we each ordered their Sando Sampler (wasn't sure how big the Sando would be) and the Fruit Sando. Our sandwiches were brought to our table ... Oh my goodness! Everything was delicious! You have a choice of 3 different flavored whipped cream in the Fruit Sando. We picked Ube! It was amazing. Had the ube sando and the original with my friend. The price is really steep for what you get (10 bucks for one set of 3 mini sandwiches). It took over 20 minutes and the bread seemed stale when it came out. The filling was ok but not great for both the ube and the original. We left disappointed. read more

Very delighted to find this new place! Already tried twice- first time had the beef bento and the fruit sando with ube cream. Too excited about the food and forgot to take pictures! 2nd time, tried the Salmon bento (in the picture). I liked everything I had here ! The place is nice, clean and feels right. If you want a reliable spot for a great burger and fries without any nonsense, Olive Burger is definitely worth it.

We ordered an assortment of baked goods: homemade pop tarts, a savory bacon and cheese scone, olive oil and lemon cake with vanilla icing, and a cheese danish. Service was great. There was a short line and we were waited on by a friendly and attentive staff member. The inside of the store is packed with food, drinks, and baked goods. There are also frozen ice cream sandwiches which are served inside of macarons. There is a wall of drinks and large counters of baked goods. We loved our cakes, scones, pop tarts, and danish. Each was delicious in its own right and flaky golden brown. The flavors popped and we had a hard time leaving some to bring home. This is a definite must try cafe. I can't wait to go back. The menu is a bit hard to discern if you're unfamiliar and only available on QR codes at the tables. My bf got a pork dish and mentioned that it was all kind of one note. His dish was more expensive than my sandwich by several dollars and you can see from my picture that he got much less food. Overall, I left feeling kind of wishy washy about this place. Perhaps it would be a great place to order unique delivery from rather than dining in, and I can appreciate the specialty food options overall.

Ordered a Giant Big Kahuna Cheese Steak and a Regular Tuna. Both subs were really good. So today, I had to see if they could do it again. This time I went Giant on both. There will be lunch for tomorrow and the next day. haha. The Big Kahuna Cheese Steak? WOW! I let them load up the first one and it was really tasty. Today, I cut back on the hots, just wasn't feeling it, and the sub was just as great! The Tuna on the first order was actually eaten the 2nd day. Unlike some sub/sandwich places...somehow the Tuna did not destroy the bread (Rosemary Parmesan) with all the liquid from the tuna/mayo, etc. The taste was AWESOME! Today on the 18th, they duplicated it, but in Giant size. Plus they sliced the sub into 4ths...I wasn't expecting that but what a great idea!! So much easier to eat as a smaller part of the sub, and if you have leftovers...easier to just wrap up and put in the fridge. I have a new sub place!! LOVE IT! Tried the curbside pickup service today....instant! Love that too! Will be back soon!

While I was pleased to see your lunch crowd had the place 90% full, the 22 minute wait for 2 lukewarm cheesesteak sandwiches (both mine amd my spouse's), having to ask for ketchup and being told "they are on the tables". Well, there are 9 tables and only 2 bottles of ketchup amongst them. Only after 2 other diners asked for ketchup was another (ONE) bottle given to the 3rd person to ask for ketchup. On a positive note... the fries were hot. perhaps you leave the cheesesteaks on the grill until the fries are done? Now the travesty of all.... the last 3 visits no Hank's sodas have been stocked. We are not Pepsi product fans. so we ended up with the 6 Oz water cup but it's free so won't complain about that. The cool temperature cheesesteaks were not finished by either myself or DH. Please get back to your standards that got us to be regulars, we definitely will be going to the Allen location before coming back unless we see positive reviews.

The first time I went to Fred's, the owner was at the register greeting everyone who came in with an enthusiastic smile. I had a feeling the food was great because every seat in the restaurant was filled. I ordered the #4 - double meat and cheese Cheesesteak with mayo and fries. Luckily, I found a table as my food arrived and quickly found myself in Cheesesteak heaven! For the price, it was an incredible portion of steak and cheese, and every bite seemed better than the last until the end. I came back with my partner, this time adding their delicious Cheesesteak egg rolls to my order. She chose the pepper Cheesesteak and thought everything was delightful. Everything was so good that it was hard to resist the urge to order more food for later! You can tell that Fred genuinely enjoys his work, and his energy is infectious. His staff and customers all appear very happy to be there, creating a sense of a close-knit community.
