In all the years I've been living in Cedar Park, I never had the pleasure of being fed by this fine establishment. It's not hidden. It right off of Whitestone Blvd in plain sight. I just could never get there before it closes at 3pm. Needless to say 1431 Cafe is a really good diner, great food, casual ambiance and awesome staff. I've been here three times and have not been disappointed. In my opinion, breakfast is king at this diner. In fact one whole side of the menu is dedicated to breakfast items. I've had the sausage cakes and the Big Breakfast and let me tell you portion control is not in their vocabulary. The sausage cakes are basically pancakes with bits of sausage mixed in. But that's not all you get. You'll get two eggs any style, a sausage patty and sausage gravy to wash it down. It's all very good, but if you want a challenge then I suggest getting the Big Breakfast. Lord. Have. Mercy! You'll get two eggs any style, bacon, ham, sausage patty, home style potatoes, and two fluffy biscuits covered in sausage gravy. But, wait, there's more! Two huge, like bigger then your face fluffy pancakes!! Now, I'm a big eater and the Big Breakfast beat me. I couldn't finish it... this time. 1431 Cafe also has a variety of eggs Benedict that are scrumptious and a great lunch menu with hard to find items like The Monte Christo Sandwich. If you're not familiar, it's a ham and cheese sandwich dipped in batter, golden fried and served with a sprinkle of powdered sugar and jam as a dipping sauce. This is in response to Earl F.'s post. I assure you that my post is not fake and IS my opinion and was not prompted by anyone other than myself. I have lived in Cedar Park going on 25 years. I frequented your restaurant many times over the last several years. Saturday mornings were great and there was a community of people that went there and it was not just a restaurant in was a meeting place. I recall many times that there were 12 to 15 "regulars" that showed up on Saturday mornings. The last time I went there on a Saturday for which my review was written, and I was the only person in the entire restaurant. I kept giving your restaurant chances to improve. All of these people didn't leave as a result of a organized effort, they left for the same reasons I have. This is also why the same complaints are showing up. There is no conspiracy and no smear campaign. You are becoming your own worst enemy. Your unsubstantiated claims are the rantings of a person who can not deal with the reality of things that are your own doing. I have been in management for over 40 years and was myself a server at one time. You are making some serious mistakes with the management of your restaurant and the choices you are making to publicly slander patrons and former employees. Not one employee at 1431 Café ever stole from me. If they were stealing from you, why were they not fired? That's on you. I do question your hiring practices but will leave that to the Texas Workforce Commission to determine if there are violations of employment discrimination. Your attacks on me are just plain absurd. I go to many other restaurants in Cedar Park and the surrounding areas. Some GREAT breakfast restaurants are Moutons, First Watch, IHOP, MorninGlory, and yes, Nick's. I was at First Watch (183) this morning (1/2/25). The service was impeccable, the food was awesome and the price was reasonable. I didn't see any of your former employees there. This is my own opinion of my experience there. Contrary to your attempt to discredit me by calling me names and trying to rationalize your analysis on what I have said, I am not trying to put you out of business. Came here for a last minute breakfast on a Sunday! We knew we might have to wait a bit but we were hungry and every where else was a 1 hour wait! So decided to give this place a shot! Not disappointed! Let's talk FEWDS ! Feel- family style diner. Nothing super special about it other than it was decorated for Valentine's Day! Eats- everything we got was pretty good! I was very impressed ! I got egg white omelet with veggies and cheese. Veggies were a bit oily but tasted good! I got wheat toast and i will say this was a nice seedy grain toast! Potatoes were a bit under seasoned but nothing a little salt and Pepper/hot sauce can't fix! Hubby got the big breakfast. He nearly cleared his plate! I tried a few bites of his pancakes and i will say these were delicious!! The biscuits and gravy weren't bad either ! He was very happy with his selection! Others got scrambled egg bfast (standard), and the BLT CLUB. I will tell you the BLT looked amazing. Triple decker style Sammy and it had the ripest tomatoes on there. I believe some had to be removed in order to fit it in his mouth haha! Raves about it as well! Worth- big portions and decent quality of food. I'd say it was well worth the amount we paid! $$ Drinks- we all got coffee and water. Everything was refilled promptly! Coffee tasted pretty good too! Standard diner coffee. Service- we waited about 30 min for a table. We knew it would take longer elsewhere so we didn't mind that. Seated at a freshly cleaned table. Got a little Sassiness from the waitress but that comes with the territory and we kinda love that. Food took a good amount of time to come out and we were hangry. I'd say that it took longer than a usual diner would bring out food. It was a bit busy though so we also figured that was the reason. Over all, we had a good experience. my fiance had been wanting to try this place since we moved out to leander and so we finally decided to give it a shot! we came around noon for lunch and we were a little nervous when we saw the group of people in front of the door. we went in and they told us about 30 minutes but they had us seated within 15! our waitress was fatima and they were amazing!!! they checked on us consistently throughout the entire time we were seated. they were upbeat and kind. we did interact with a few of the other waitresses as well and they were all very nice! we got the chicken fried bacon, eggs benedict with the crab and sausage biscuits and gravy! the food was phenomenal and the portions were large! well worth the pricing, you get all you pay for! we will definitely be back! read more

This has been our usual week day or weekend spot for breakfast/brunch for the last several months. This is like a good ol' diner with both breakfast and lunch and pies for dessert. I normally get the cafe special with your typical breakfast eggs, bacon, toast and pancake. Unfortunately the last few times the pancakes have been under cooked so that's why only 4 stars. I have eaten here regularly for years, at least a few dozen visits. And their food and service has been consistently good. There is nothing special or fancy about the place, or the food (why its 4 stars, not 5). I think maybe one time a few years ago I got an overly crunchy biscuit (which the server happily replaced). But thats about the worst of it. I saw some comments in reviews about rude staff. I just haven't seen it. Most rude staff incidents I've seen come from either rude customers, or very busy times when staff is exhausted from dealing with way too many customers. Any way, good food and service. Nothing amazing, but it does the job. 1431 Cafe has stayed in business for quite a long time by consistently providing good food and service. My trick is avoiding peak times. read more

Save your money! This was our go to weekend place, but not anymore. I used to love this place; unfortunately, the quality of the food has gone down significantly. Their fruit bowl has become bland, warm, and did not offer strawberries. They should offer strawberries in the fruit bowls for the price. They used to have strawberries in the fruit bowl several years ago. Their response when I asked why they don't have strawberries was they are too expensive. On one visit I saw a roach in the restroom. I did not want go there anymore, but my BF and his daughter wanted to continue visiting the restaurant. Customers should never see roaches in a crowded restaurant. I feel that they may not exterminate on a consistent basis. Finally, other Yelp reviews are not fake as the owner stated. My boyfriend commented on Yelp, and the owner replied that his review was "fake." Like I stated before, I was done when I saw the roach, but my family convinced me to continue visiting the restaurant because of the staff and ambiance. Been here before. It used to be excellent. Last time the wife and I went it wasn't good. Been a few years so we decided to try it out. It was worse. I ordered the migas. Damn plate was covered with this mass of old, stale tortilla strips, smelled like a barnyard. I couldn't eat it. The wife ordered scramble, bacon and an English muffin. Terrible customer service. The wait staff is great, but the manager Brandi is going to run this place into the ground. She could care less about the patrons that come to spend their hard earned money at this establishment. Nor does she care if your order is correct or how cold and floppy it is when it comes out to the table. FYI, if you order the "Crispy potatoes" that used to actually be crispy diced potatoes, they have now changed them to sliced southern fried potatoes that are wet and floppy. Also the menu still says CRISPY potatoes. The manager (Brandi) refused to switch the soggy potatoes slices out for hash browns and demanded we pay for new Potatoes if we didn't like them. We paid $100 today for a couple eggs, wet, floppy potatoes, and undercooked, floppy bacon. It's too bad. This place used to be our go to, but not anymore. Oh and UPDATE YOUR MENU PLS! 1431 Cafe BY FAR has the best breakfast I've ever tasted. Ray, our waitress, was so genuine, cool, and very happy to be working on Father's Day. I had their chorizo omelette, which was soooo good and they're not afraid to pile the meat on. The pancakes are very large and flavorful. Please definitely stop by and give this place a try. The hostess said that they don't seat people on a fist come first serve based on weekends. Although my wife did not mention this to the hostess, but they wouldn't put a black woman on the list until her husband came in with their two small children. My wife had noticed her leave but come right back in with the two children and her husband, but in the meantime, they had seated two white families. After we were seated, we were looking for our waitress, and noticed that the waitress that ended up waiting on us, she was the waitress we had seen talking to the hostess. After we placed our order and the waitress came back with my wife's coffee, the waitress spilled some of the coffee on the table and didn't even apologize for it and when my wife asked her if she could wipe it off, the waitress wiped it off towards my wife. For a local mom and pop joint I thought this place was great!! It isn't perfect and the service isn't amazing but everything was still pretty above average. Our food came out warm and yummy. The portion on our Big Breakfast was huge and we shared it between the two of us. It was perfect and we didn't leave much behind! The eggs were normal, pancakes were fluffy, biscuits&gravy were rich and flavorful, and the meats were cooked nice and crispy. The service was good considering she was taking care of 4 tables. They had a real cozy feel. I would definitely pick them over IHOP or Denny's. My wife and I are already excited to go back and try some of their other items. Hopefully soon!! Rudest waitress I have ever had. So I am rating today's experience. Wish I did not have to say this because I like this place very much. The food is alway good and the staff is typically very friendly. However the waitress I had today yelled at me from three tables away when I waved at her to get her attention. I had asked for more ice in my tea and after about ten minutes and her walking by my table three or four times without bringing what I asked I felt it was time to get her attention. So I raised my hand. "CANT YOU SEE I'M BUSY! " she yelled at me from across the dining area. Again this was about ten minutes after I asked her for more ice. What really mad me mad was she first looked at me then the glass she obviously forgot, then yelled. It was rude to me, rude to the people she was with at the table, and rude to all those who noticed (many). That was a disappointing Christmas Eve breakfast. The hostess had a crinkled brow frown every time she walked by. Our server huffed when I took an extra 15 seconds to place my order, never smiled, checked on us one time. Only one other server and our food runner had smiles on today. The food was meh-ok. We've been coming here at least once a month for the two years we've been here and it's been declining, but I now understand why we were able to park close and get in without a line on a Sunday morning. My boyfriend and I were looking for a new local breakfast spot to try and based on the great reviews we wanted to check out 1431. Luckily the wait wasn't too long. As soon as we sat down we were asked what we wanted to drink without getting a chance to look at the menu. After deciding what we wanted to eat, we placed our order. There was a couple sitting behind us that ordered their food after us and got their food before us (we ordered the same thing). My boyfriend got chicken and waffles and I ordered buttermilk pancakes. I couldn't finish my pancakes because they were so bland. Even drenching them with syrup did not make them taste better. I also ordered a side of potatoes and they did not taste better. Adding salt and pepper did not help save the taste. Everything tasted unseasoned. I never write reviews like this, but I had to share my experience. Not sure I'll be going back any time soon. I recently visited The 1431 Café again with my husband. He was intent on having the blueberry pancakes and I wanted to try something different. Adria was our entertaining and attentive server and we asked for suggestions regarding the smoked turkey and bacon croissant or an omelette and I asked between the Cod dinner vs. breakfast. Adria said the cod was the best around and told my husband that croissant sandwich was her fave. She let my hubby choose the pancake as his side with blueberries for 25 cents. I had the cod, plus a dinner salad and fries. The cod was truly the best fish and chips around, fries were terrific and the salad was very fresh and tasty. Husband said his sandwich was especially delicious and the pancake again perfect. We got a second pancake on the plate so I gobbled that up as well. This mom and pop cafe reminds me of simpler times... when the owner knows and recognizes you. When you're sincerely thanked for your patronage. And the food is delicious yet simple.
