I was in the area Sunday afternoon & despite unpleasant reviews decided to give it a shot. Glad we did, staff was great we were greeted by two older ladies/host at the entrance & food was good! I ordered a breakfast Fried Chicken&Waffle plate. Waffles were great, chicken was a bit bland but it does come with a side of white cream gravy that adds to flavor. Husband ordered the breakfast Hamburger Steak, which is basically a beef patty w/grilled onion, 2 eggs & he chose the broccoli cheese casserole as a side he finished everything & was definitely pleased! We also had the Chicken Fried Bacon which was just ok (nothing special about it) if you've never had it and would like to try something different, but don't think we'll be ordering it again in the future. read more

I want you to fully disregard that they bought all the liquidated furniture from a defunct 80's medical office and give this place a shot. I appreciate that this place has put having an identity on the back burner to making exceptional blueberry pancakes. They were, in fact, just that. Exceptional. And they came with blueberry butter. Which I didn't even know was a thing. It's a thing. Also, exceptional. It was the Robin to its Batman pancake. My seat mate got the big breakfast with eggs and bacon (that I stole) and it came with some sort of red pepper potatoes that were great. Perfect little place to grab a substantial breakfast. Outdated decor gives this large cafe located along the crowded FM 1431 a small town feel. The cafe serves American breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have had lunch and most recently stopped in for breakfast. The food is typical of American, loaded with grease and on the plain side. I did like the fact that they had all three types of tabasco sauces for me to douse my scrambled eggs. The food was cooked well, the service was fine, and the coffee was hot. The pancakes seem a bit dense to me and they are a bit stingy with the syrup, which is good for my kids. The restaurant always seems clean and lonely. For an extra couple of bucks, come support a local business instead of eating at the hopping IHOP across the street. read more

We have been wanting to find a good breakfast spot that wasn't an IHOP, and 1431 cafe fits the bill for that nicely. The inside is very outdated, but what they lack in ambiance they make up for in tasty food. We started with coffee and each mug is different which I found charming. I collect coffee mugs myself, mostly from trips, so it was fun to look around and see a bunch of different ones and where they came from. Mine had a rose and my husbands was an old Motorola mug. The coffee was good and strong, I only wish they served it with real cream instead of those room temperature creamers. Ugh, I hate those things. For my meal I ordered a full stack of the blueberry pancakes that come with house made blueberry butter and syrup ($7.29). They do have sugar free syrup upon request. They were delicious and left me totally full. The short stack would have been the perfect amount for me so I will keep that in mind next time. My husband went with the 3 meat egg scramble. You can choose between ham, bacon, sausage, or chorizo. It also comes with your choice of potatoes, grits, or sliced tomatoes and either toast, an English muffin, tortillas, or a biscuit for $9.19. He did grits and a biscuit with a side of sausage gravy and he left full as well. We both really enjoyed our food. Waffles are one of my favorite breakfast foods on the planet so I was happy to see that on their menu too. If they could make a blueberry one similar to those pancakes I would be here every Sunday morning. They also have 3 different types of French toast and the bananas foster one in particular was calling my name. We will be back soon for more breakfast items and possibly one day for lunch or dinner. They do serve breakfast all day which I love, and yelpers get a free dessert upon check in. read more

Breakfast review. Didn't this place use to be railroad cafe or tracks? I can't remember, but, what I do remember is that I didn't like them back then, and, I'm not liking them now. We went in here for breakfast and left very disappointed. The staff are very friendly and nice. I liked that they had a mini x-mas tree up front by the check in. Adds to the "down home country feel". I ordered two eggs over medium with bacon, potatoes, biscuit and a side of sausage gravy. Coffee and water to drink. Coffee was good, but, refills were slow. My food came out in good time. No complaints there. Here's a quick and dirty breakdown: Eggs: A little greasy, but done just right. Best thing on the plate. Bacon: Sad. Pitiful. Disgrace. Seriously. The best way to describe this bacon is to say it was soft fried hours earlier and placed in a chafing dish. It was cold, greasy, and, limp. Shudder. Potatoes: Fresh cut and fried up with peppers. Good flavor, but, cold. Not warm. Cold. Did the candle burn out under the chafing dish? Biscuit: Grands tastes better. Sausage gravy: Akin to Libby's from a can. Man. I was really disappointed. The funny thing is no one asked us "how's everything"? In fact after the food was delivered we never saw our waitress again until she dropped off the check. Place has potential, but, when you're pouring it from a can, pre-frying, and probably placing everything in chafing dishes, you lose my vote. A generous two stars. read more

My husband and I have been a couple of times in the past few years. Went about a week ago and when we walked in, the breakfast rush had just finished and left. The place was a mess understandably. We were seated and promptly served by Liz. We watched her bust her tail getting the restaurant back in order while still tending to all of her customers needs. The cafe was obviously short staffed. Second time here and left disappointed. Service is usually adequate although sometimes slow. We've had the Eggs Benedict (country and chicken) both times and both times they have been good. The biscuits are probably the best thing about this place. This time both my wife and I had the side of potatoes which on both plates were completely charred. And not just one or two but the majority as you can see by the pictures. Must have got the bottom of the warming platter. The fact that the kitchen staff plated them, the plates made it out of the kitchen, and the waitress set them down in front of us when it was easy to see they should have never been served, screams laziness to me. I wish we had read Danah's review before we went in to the restaurant today. We had a similar experience. We had to wait for a table but that wasn't the problem. Once we were seated we gave our breakfast order at the very same time that we ordered our coffee. We got our coffee and then waited and waited and waited for our food. The waitress finally came over and informed us our food order had just gone in.. for some reason it never left her hand held device until just then. Almost Everyone that was seated after us had received their food and finished and were leaving the restaurant. And we were still waiting on our food. When our food finally came she said they would comp our coffee or a free piece of pie. Not exactly what we expected, we just wanted good service and HOT FOOD! All of our food was NOT hot, seemed like it had been sitting there a while and had cooled off. We started to talk to the manager but so glad we didn't now after reading the managers reply to Danah's 1 star review. We won't be back. So Pam and I decides to check this place out after driving by it. We were assured by the lady seating us that it would be a pleasant experience. We should've went somewhere else. My wife ordered the Grande Burrito breakfast special, and I ordered corned beef hash and eggs. Pams burrito had eggs, bacon, cheese and potatoes in it, and it was just...off. The burrito wad covered in "chili con queso"...drowned, actually. The horrible queso just took over the other low quality ingredients, bit she made the most of it by removing the filling and discarding the tortilla. I understand that most places serve canned hash, and if done right, it can be tasty. They didnt do it right. It didnt have a crust...it was like they opened the can and dumped the contents on my plate. It wasn't even hot. The potatoes weren't done...they were way undercooked, and seem much too starchy on the outside. The two eggs were probably ok, but I couldnt taste them. The manager came by and asked if we needed anything and if everything was ok...and here's how this place went from one star to two. I told him about the problem, and he replaced my order with a bacon and egg breakfast WITHIN 5 MINUTES. Scary fast. The coffee was good, but as you can see in the picture, the cleanliness of the cup was questionable at best. That was my wife's cup. Nausea sets in. Cant finish the replacement breakfast that was given to me. Time for the check. Our server, (cant remember her name, poor girl) was AWESOME. She seemed nervous, especially when I told her we would not be here again. Im sure she was thinking "Well, there goes my tip!" I assured her it wasnt her fault, that she was awesome and the tip would reflect her exemplary service. And it did...but I did tell her not to eat here...lol The service here is amazing. We were seated quickly about 2:15 PM on Easter Sunday. We knew they closed at 3 PM and we were advised of that when we were given our menus. Hubs' breakfast looked amazing, and he confirmed the eggs were nicely done, the potatoes were the way he likes them and the bacon outstanding. I will definitely come back for breakfast even though the coffee wasn't to my liking. My meal was not as satisfying but I will definitely give them another chance. I ordered a grilled chicken breast, green beans and salad. It was the puniest breast I'd ever had served to me - maybe 4 ounces, with nary a spice on it, not even salt and pepper. I thought it was supposed to have been grilled? It obviously was skillet fried. The green beans were okay and the salad, well can't mess that up. I left hungry. But let us not overlook the fantastic breakfast! It really did look good. I'll order that next time. This is a mom and pop place so please give this place a try! read more

We've been wanting to try this place but only seem to be by here in the evening when they are closed. Glad we made it for breakfast today! Pancakes were extra yummy. I always have them with eggs over medium sandwiched between them. No syrup, extra butter. My husband had the big breakfast and it was really big. Two pancakes, sausage gravy over a biscuit, two eggs, & three meats! Wow it is big! I really like when they serve the butter warm with the pancakes and they did. Otherwise it cools them off and I like my food hot. The bacon was ordered extra crispy and came out not so crispy - we ate it that way. Don't like waiting for remakes! Also the biscuits and gravy were very good but they could have been a tad warmer. Food came out fast. All in all we will be back. Everything we saw looked delicious! read more

Bathroom floors were disgusting, sticky and dirty. The booths were ripped, not even duct taped. Slow service and eggs tasted like powder eggs. We waited forever for our food with no updates, then sat a long time with no syrup for pancakes. The blueberry pancakes were ok but we will not be back. My hubby and I are new to the Cedar Park scene. We wanted to find a local substitute to Hills and Threadgills...well, " there's gold in them thar hills" of CP that is..jackpot! My hubby and I were very pleased.. And have been back 3 times now. The chix fried chix is good but the chix fried steak is by far one of the best Ive had. I like to judge my restaurants by the details.. Come on.. Its a cafe, clean and everyone orders pie after dinner. The potatoes are fresh, gravy was not the mix of white fluff everyone else serves. It was homemade...omg... Who does that these days? The desserts are also homemade..I highly recommend the peach cobbler ala mode. I don't understand the bad reviews.. Almost like we're all reviewing different restaurants...oh well. We love it and cant wait to try breakfast. I'm a little hesitant though...I dont think my poor tummy can handle that much food. We used to come to this spot frequently. The last time my Biscuits were burned on the bottom and my son was not please with his breakfast either so we haven't been back in quite a few years. So we decided to give them another shot, and I was quite pleased we did. I ordered 2 eggs plus meat (eggs scrambled, bacon and Grits) also comes with a bread choice which I chose an English Muffin. It was all great except the English Muffin was not cooked through still really par cooked doughy flavor in the center. So I ate around it. You know you learn things as you go. We are all looking forward to the next breakfast day out with the whole family and I'm really excited to try the Corned Beef Hash next time. An old time classic not made available in most places these days. Also looking forward to the classic Southern Items like Chicken Fried ANYTHING. Glad this place is still going strong. Its a great little Breakfast and Lunch joint it has a great front of house staff that's super friendly and attentive. Breakfast at 1431 for the first time was pleasing. Quickly seated in the dining area, late morning and our waitress was prompt in greeting our table. Coffee came quickly and orders were taken promptly and back out to us in less than 10 minutes. The restaurant was clean and our waitress was pleasant. The food was good, fresh, and plentiful. Better than IHOP or some of the other places I've been to lately. I like the home cooked style of food that they serve and the prices aren't outrageous. Once we were finished, our waitress did have a bit of a problem with 'wasting steps'. She walked by us several times when we were clearly finished and she didn't check on us. We finally flagged her down for take out boxes and the check and then all was well. All in all it was a decent experience and good food. read more

This is a true "cafe". Fast talkin' waitresses, plates of serious trucker food (especially the breakfasts), and a constant flow of coffee and iced tea. My family frequents this place on Sundays for breakfast. We've tried many different things and they're all really good. I will say that the portions are BIG... nearly too big as we all pass out after breakfast. It's one of the reasons this place is a good value. The waits can be quite long on the weekend during prime breakfast/brunch hours. If you're not in a rush then you're good. They look to be busy for lunches most of the time based on the parking lot status when I drive by. It seems to be a bit of a local favorite based on the folks I see there when we go. My son and I had breakfast here this morning and it was so yummy! We both had the Redneck Benedict. It was a biscuit, split in half, covered with sausage, scrambled eggs and gravy! It was so good. We couldn't resist. We both had grits as our side and they were very good as well. We could not eat all of our food. Plenty left over to take home. The service was excellent. This place has been here for a long time but we didn't start eating here until we moved back to this area several months ago. It's a great place to go when you're looking for that traditional American home-cooked breakfast! Their biscuits & gravy and chicken & waffle plate are delicious! They have some of the best blueberry & buttermilk pancakes I've had in a long time! The service here is always fantastic!! The staff always has a smile for you and the manager on duty has always been walking around the floor during the times that we have visited. The only thing I wish for is that they stay open a little later in the day. Looking for a good ol' fashioned laid back diner off 1431/183? This is it! You can eat a meal for under $20-$25/for two, the food is FRESH, service is very speedy and it's local. Went today a~ had eggs, bowl of oatmeal, and REAL crispy potatoes, in a chilled out/mellow scene... where you are not required to WAIT. There's nothing fancy about this place but it will exceed your expectations. If someone is complaining, it might be on an off day cuz I honestly couldn't find ONE THING wrong with this place where you're 100% allowed to roll in and fly under the radar to eat a home cooked meal. -- Sweet! read more
