Local well known establishment. Rustic atmosphere. Has pool table in back room for $1 per game. Great service. Enjoyed my duck entree as all enjoyed their medals. Kids menu. Great desserts! Plenty of parking. Some nights music.

Up in Vermont for a couple of days at Smugglers Notch and stopped in here to Martell's two nights back mostly because it just looked like a decent townie place. Glad we did. Skipped dining room seating and opted for the bar which was a great decision because we got to converse with owner / bartender Matt and some local residents. Had the pulled pork sandwich night #1 and it was out of the park. Everyone in our party was so pleased with our meals, the atmosphere and especially, the prices we said if we didn't find someplace else we'd come back the next night and in fact, did so! Had their steak tips w rice and broccoli the 2nd visit and that was actually the best well cooked broccoli I've had. The tips were fire and I clean elf my plate in minutes. Again, entertained and engaged with owner Matt and another batch of engaging and friendly Vermonters we silently considered if we should enjoy their lunch menu too. Well, as it happened the weather was foul our next day and out of laziness and a desire for more good food; we wound up butts in the seats one more time at Martells. And even severely understaffed Matt and his one cook still pushed out one of the fattest, well cooked Hamburgers w bacon and melted cheese I could've asked for on cool, dreary afternoon. No offense to any other eateries in the Smuggs area, but you could take a lesson from the Red Fox and a) be open early and b) don't close on Mondays and Tuesdays. Like I get it, Oct / Nov might be your slow months but Martell's is the place to get to if you're hungry and thirsty if you're in Jeffersonville VT

My family and I came here last night. I think since we were so hungry from our long drive yesterday , we just ate . We decided to get appetizers, and we got the loaded nachos with chicken. I thought the chicken was very dry and had no taste to them . The calmaria had a werid taste to it. I decided to get the baked mac and cheese, but it was very watery vs. chessey . My husband got the classic burger, but it was very dry, and he had to cut off the bacon because of so much fat on it. My mother got the Mac and cheese, and she said it tasted alright. My father got the shrimp scampi, and he said it was very delicious. We were shocked that when we received our check that they automatically charged us a tip, we were only a party of 4, and they charged us for a party of 6. I would avoid this place at all cost. Save your money. It was too expensive and very tasteless food.

Great place not far from Smugglers notch resort. A nice change from the typical pub food or pizza that are offered at too many places. I was craving something non-fried and Asian - so I was so happy to see the Ahi tuna on their menu. They had a nice selection of food choices, from pasta to jambalaya. Everyone was really happy with the food. Nice portions, taste great, and reasonably priced. Kid's menu is only $6. Dessert is $6 for a slice of apricot cheesecake cake, soooo delicious! Fluffy cheesecake with bites of apricot. My daughter devoured it!! Loved their draft beer like the Stowe Cider and Switchback ale are under $6, hard to come by that price these days. What a gem. Oh, they also have a side room where you can play a game of pool ($1 per game honor system) away from the restaurant or bar crowd. We'll be coming back for more!

    Tuna! Nothing like the photos.

we walked in around 3:30 for drinks and possibly an appetizer. greeted with "Do you have reservations " which i find off putting. we said no and was told that the only option was bar or the 5 stools on the wall. (we had our 16 year old, so stools it was.) we ordered two bottles of beer and a root beer...there were severas people at the bar and two tables of two. the drinks took 15 to 20 minutes. we had front row seats and around 4 pm we watched many people come only to be turned away. disappointing, not given an option to stay but there may be a wait, just we cannot acommodate you. if we were the owners we would have been horrified. We just ordered drinks and we felt like a burden. The second round took even longer along with an appetizer of tuna tartar. Again, it was two bottles of beer and a rootbeer. At 5 pm two new servers walked in. We had experienced enough in the hour and a half we were there. Definitely will not return, heard from reviews the food was good. The vibe and service were not worth returning for a second chance .

Food not great for the price. Little tiny hamburgers both brought well done even though we both ordered med or med rare. Fries good.

We were quickly seated even though we did not have reservations. The service was great, very friendly. I had the special, which was seared scallops on a bed of mashed potatoes surrounded by a variety of fresh vegetables. The dish was outstanding. Everyone else had pizza. The pizzas are 14" and can easily be shared by 2 people. Overall, a great experience with reasonable prices. Will definitely return.

The hostess brought us bread after I explained my granddaughter was hungry. About 10 minutes later the waitress came to take our order. After we waited another 45 minutes without food, I asked for more bread. When the food finally came, it was not very good. I had blackened shrimp and it tasted like the shrimp was cooked and then the spices were dumped on it after cooking, my husband's fish was rubbery, and my granddaughter's chicken strips were overdone and dry. Even the fries were burned in places. After all the waiting, they charged us for the bread! I would not recommend this place!

The poutine was very good, but I'll grant you that it's maybe hard to get that wrong - but their gravy is on point! Service was great - got there around 5:40pm on a Wednesday, so the wait was non-existent and a table for 5 was easy to accommodate. Duncan was the server, who disclosed that he was new but you wouldn't know it from how he took orders and brought food out. Even threw him a curve by asking for the steak frites with an additional side of brussel sprouts, which he handled no problem - even though there weren't any sides I saw on the menu. Steak was medium rare and perfectly seasoned, and I think I mentioned the chimichurri but it deserves additional mention. Maybe you're wondering about beverages. The maple lemonade is great - it leans harder on the tart side and there are sweeter options around (Cliff House) but I love a lemonade that tastes... lemony. Pineapple cherry punch was also a hit - but that's secondhand hearsay, unlike my direct opinion on the chimichurri - which I would drink if I could. Definitely check this place out. The table near ours seemed to immensely enjoy their meal and also get great service from Duncan.

They use the Yelp waitlist, but I couldn't join it until we showed up to the restaurant, which was a little confusing. We ended up sitting at the counter by the wood fire, which was neat to watch. Our server (Jenn) was awesome. My drink was very pricy ($18), but it was pretty tasty. Everything was absolutely delicious - we got a Mac & cheese and 2 burgers with fries. I love that it's all farm-to-table. Would absolutely eat here again and *highly* recommend it.

The chocolate croissants are buttery with crisp flaky exteriors and rich chocolate interiors. We first discovered them at Stowe Farmers Market. Then discovered the loaves stocked daily fresh bread at Stowe Living and at The Commodities Natural Market. More recently we went to Hyde Park location to try their lunch sandwiches. The Turkey Bacon Avocado with cheddar cheese and pickled red onions is fresh, tasty, easy to eat - a favorite. Panuozzo is an interesting creation using sourdough pizza to wrap around fresh burrata, roasted garlic cloves, roasted red peppers and pesto - the burrata is super fresh and rich type of mozzarella but sandwich is very messy (both hands and face) and we reeked of garlic afterwards. Seriously, the garlic taste and odor built up and literally lingered for 24h - so make sure to share this with your loved ones so all of you are in the garlic group. We would order the Panuozzo again but probably leave off the garlic. Bahn Mi is an interpretation of a classic Vietnamese Bahn Mi - it is tasty but contained no cucumbers, less cilantro and pickled carrots/daikon plus the gravy made the bread soggy. It is still good and we would order again but ask for the gravy on the side as a dipping sauce. All 3 sandwiches were winners and we loved our food adventure. We were missing pickles from 2 of our 3 sandwiches but the 1 pickle we had was good. The sandwiches were hearty so we didn't eat the fries.
