    Hello kitty!

Beware small gai choy on sale should have "x" on bay or else they charge large gai choy This is my go to grocer store. I now come often for the weekly sales... like how I found the Milkis Sanrio combo: buy a drink pack with free tote or shirt. But you gotta act fast! Thank you for always having Sailor Moon Ocean Bomb drinks! Please please get some Sailor Pluto and Sailor Saturn drinks in the future - I need to finish my series collection!! And don't forget to wear a jacket, it gets super cold.

Beware they are using a shady weighing machine. As you can see after weighing it at home I am missing .15 pounds of meat. Dishonest market. Never coming back again.

Dim sum from the self-serve hot food deli station was okay but the sesame balls are getting smaller. I did not get to try the other self-serve hot cooked food.

The coffees that we barely sipped

The one star is for the drinks that we received. I bought 2 iced Vietnamese coffees and a citrus tea. The citrus tea was fine. However, the coffees were terrible. My husband and sister-in-law wanted it and then from the first sip, they said it tasted off. So I tried it out, and it was sour and tasted like hazelnut as well for some reason. I went to the lady who made our drinks and she gave me the bottle of the premix stuff she had used to make it so I could sniff it. It smelled fine, but it didn't change the fact that the drinks were sour. I don't know if it was the milk they used, if the coffee was incorrectly brewed, but it was nasty. I went to customer service to get a refund as the lady instructed, and the guy at the counter said he couldn't give me a refund because there was nothing wrong with the coffee. He said that he and the lady smelled it (not tasted it) and said there was nothing wrong. I would advise against getting any coffee products from this location. The customer service was abysmal too. I understand needing to go back to double check the product, but we barely drank the coffee and we were unhappy with the purchase.

It's a challenge to not come here when they are the biggest Asian market on this side of the tunnel. The variety of items is good, the brands of the items are good and they have lots of produce and seafood. The downside is that quality is lacking in some aspects. Today is a perfect example where the person behind the counter grabbed the chicken bun for me and I could see that it was over steamed. I know, I should have asked for another one but I hate being one of those ladies. Still, where is the quality control? Last year, I came here for fresh crab because the price was right. Unfortunately, my crabs were lacking in flavor as the crabs are in the racks with city water running through their tanks. I ended up hauling to Oakland Chinatown where the crabs were just coming off the truck. Big improvement in taste because their crabs had sweetness and the salty ocean taste every time. The orderliness seems to be changing here as the end caps of the aisles in the back are no longer stacks of boxes versus shelving. I appreciate that they appear to hire the locals because not every employee is Asian. So, I'm not a fan of their dim sum because the skins are thick and lacking in flavor. We have had the roasted duck and not enough flavor for me. Parking is great but very busy on the weekends Watch yourself because people drive crazy.

Great finds for vegan and plant based. Natural and seeded fruits and vegetables. Things you can't find at local chain grocery stores.

Ask the Community - 99 Ranch Market

Do they accept EBT if you have them fry the fish? I know you can for fresh fish, but does their frying it change the rules? Typically EBT can't be accepted for ready to eat hot items.

    Do they accept Apple Pay?

    Yes they do!

    Are there any Japanese cheesecakes?

Do they have the popular brown sugar boba ice cream?when is the good day to go there?cuz it's always sold out n I drove 40 min to get there.

They have lots of different brands and there's a sale on a lot of them right now!

    Raw oysters available here?

Yes at the fresh seafood area. Sold in bags

Do they sell mochi (not mochi ice cream)?

I feel like being an asian store, yes they should have some but it would be in the dry section, not frozen.

    Is there any boba supplies?

Yes, we had bought the boba bubbles there.

Was at the light and saw it was a produce and a fish market. I took the detour and went in and found a very rare fish that is my mom's favorite. It looks like carp but it's not the same species, it's called a buffalo fish. I call James whenever I'm going to be in town and he sets the fish aside for me and cuts it to my specifications. I was invited to Isla Grand in Pleasant Hill as first-timer with what I thought was a solid plan:…read moreobserve quietly, eat politely, and not embarrass myself. The universe had other plans. Because I was introduced to the kamayan feast, which is basically what happens when a table decides utensils are optional, manners get relaxed, and food is no longer "served" so much as presented as a shared event happening directly in front of you. At first, I hesitated. I did the classic first-timer move--hovering my hand slightly above the food like I was trying to ask permission from the rice itself. Everyone else, however, was already fully committed. No forks. No hesitation. Just confidence and garlic rice. So I adapted. Quickly. And suddenly, I understood. The table was covered in a spread of Filipino traditional dishes that didn't feel like separate items--they felt like one coordinated experience. Garlic rice acting like the foundation of everything. Rich, savory meats layered in with bold seasoning and slow-cooked depth. Bright, tangy bites cutting through the richness at just the right moments like they'd been choreographed by someone's very opinionated lola. Every bite was slightly chaotic in the best way because there's no "correct" path. You just build your own perfect forkless (well... utensil-less) combination with your hands and hope the ancestors approve. What really got me, though, wasn't just the food--it was the customs behind it. Kamayan isn't just "eating with your hands." It feels like a quiet lesson in Filipino hospitality. Everything is shared. Everything is communal. You're not isolated in your own plate-world--you're part of a table ecosystem where people are constantly offering, pointing, encouraging: "Try this with that," "No, you need more rice with that bite," "Trust me." And somehow, even as a first-timer fumbling through the etiquette of it all, nobody lets you feel out of place. You're just... folded into it. At one point I stopped worrying about doing it right and just accepted that the correct way to eat kamayan is the way that gets more food into your mouth while laughing with the people around you. Simple enough. By the end, the table looked like a successful mission had taken place--emptied platters, scattered grains of rice, sauces doing their final victory lap. And everyone had that satisfied, slightly sleepy feeling of having actually shared a meal instead of just consuming one. I came in curious. I left a little less formal, a lot more full, and weirdly convinced that all food tastes better when your hands are allowed to participate in the decision-making process. Kamayan didn't just reintroduce me to Filipino food customs from my past. It solidifed my ancestry and up bringing allowing me to experience a whole different way of eating together with...Mahal. To make things worse, our waitress started avoiding our table and barely checked on us because of how bad the service already was, so everything took even longer and we had to get another waitress to help us. When the bill finally came, they charged us incorrectly and still tried to charge us for their mistake. We were billed for 3 orders instead of 2. It took another 10 minutes and a different waitress just to get the bill corrected. The food was good, but the service needs improvement and better attention to detail. With better communication, faster service, and more attentive staff, the experience could have been much better.
