What an amazing restaurant. Inside the phenomenal Hotel Paso del Norte you will find an incredible steakhouse. The ambiance is amazing, the decor is beautiful. Huge chandeliers, ambiance lighting, beautiful wood and plush seating makes this a special place to have that dinner to remember. Our incredible server, Dylan, was attuned to our every wish, and knew his menu well. He stopped by often, and had his recommendations which were spot on. The oysters to start off were huge and delicious. We had the tomahawk pork chop and steak with red wine glace. Delicious, tender, mouth watering. We were even given an option, presented in a beautiful inlaid box of our steak knives. Who does that! Wow! The lovely manager offered a dessert for my husband's birthday. Went to celebrate my birthday, the ambiance was good, quiet and very elegant. The food had a great flavor. The service was very much lacking for such an expensive elegant place. It took the waiter about 20 mints to come by our table to take our drink order. When we were able to order, it took the waiter a while to come back to tell us that they were out of the wine we had chosen. We ordered our food and I ordered the baby vegetables with my steak. When the food came, I got the mash potatoes. I told the waiter that I had ordered baby vegetables, he went back to the kitchen 10 minutes later he came back with mushrooms. I told him again, that I had ordered baby vegetables, he got upset with me and said "are you really set on vegetables?, by the time it comes out you will be done with the steak" I just let it go and said don't worry about it. He proceeded to say that we would get desert on the house. I asked for a crème brûlé and he brought us a chocolate cake. When I brought up that we had not order a cake because I am celiac, he really got upset and his demeanor got worse. By this time I was already disappointed and ready to go home. This is a beautiful and very romantic restaurant. My wife and I were impressed with the lighting and attentive wait staff. Our bread was delicious and my jalapeño corn bread memorable. Both salads were good. Our steaks were very good and cooked to perfection. The only surprise and let down were our sides. She got the Mac and cheese which was predictable and somewhat bland. My fries were slightly cool and also somewhat bland. Sides are a way for the chef to show his/her creativity. Both our sides were no better than an Applebee's side. Having lived in many large, metropolitan cities all over the world, I was excited about trying this restaurant in the hopes of finding a nice steakhouse in El Paso. The location's great, and the venue is beautiful. Although this place hits the mark on a few aspects (e.g., excellent service), it falls short on so many. The food is good, but definitely not worth the price. Textures are wrong, steaks served lukewarm, mediocre mixology, impractical furniture (sitting in a low armchair that makes you feel like a toddler eating off a table). At the end of the day, the devil is in the details and this restaurant misses the mark on so many things that distinguish high dining from wannabes. If you're a true foodie, don't be distracted by the nice setting. The food got only a "meh" from us. read more

One of the secret restaurants hidden away at the Paso del Norte hotel. This restaurant is by reservation only, but the service one of the best in El Paso. Expensive but it makes it quite worthwhile. 20 oz Kansas strip with chimchurii sauce was the best steak I've ever eaten. I usually eat the ribeye at either Cattlemen or Ruth and Chris but this was the best! The drinks were awesome as well of course I preferred the Godfather beverage. Other meals eaten were the ribeye and the filet mignon, both were excellent based from my other guests. Restaurant is not noisy at all higher class of people eating at this restaurant. Disaster, except for the steak itself. I was a single diner, staying at the hotel. 1: seated me at a table with chairs that must have come from a lounge - the table top was at my shoulders. I complained, they brought a better chair. 2: ordered a salad, and a filet with vegetables. 3: steak came out, I said "I ordered a salad." Steak went away, a salad arrived a little later. 4: the salad in the hotel coffee shop, Sabor, was better. 5: Steak came out, and both it and the vegetables were cold. Clearly the plate was simply set down in the kitchen somewhere, and then brought back to me. 6: Complained. Plate went away. 7: Plate came back. Steak was okay; vegetables were dry, because the plate had simply been put under a heat lamp. 8: Complained. Waiter said "I'm sorry, that's up to the kitchen." I put myself through college waiting tables in high-end restaurants. I can forgive one mistake. But this list just went on. And finally: no one tells a waiter to serve food that is wrong. The chef is god in the kitchen, but not on the floor. Giving two starts because the steak was quite good. But don't go for service. read more

The caesar salad, you can get a better one at Corner Bakery. The pasta "Tagliatelle" had no flavor whatsoever, no salt.The chicken was good. The bone marrow appetizer had NO BONE MARROW, filled with mustard seeds. The macaroni and cheese was so bland. We called the manager, manager responded and apologized. We waited another 20 minutes for the check. DO NOT COME HERE, I REPEAT! The only thing we enjoyed was the wine and onion rings. The place is gorgeous and the seats very comfortable. This place has not been opened for more than 2 years and it's located at one of the best hotels in El Paso, however with this service and flavor in the food, it won't last very long. Horrible service, waited over an hour after ordering before cancelling and leaving as no one had been to our table, including what I assume was the "manager". At least he was a guy wearing a suit that stopped at every table but mine to ask how they were doing. I'm just going to list everything terrible I experienced: 1. ordered drinks, literally took 20 minutes to arrive, waiter said "they were very busy and you were late for your reservation", yes the waiter actually said this. 2. Mojito came with no ice, seriously. 3. Ordered lobster and wasn't notified the lobster was sold out until 20 minutes after I ordered it, when we informed the manager of the awful service, manager response was "you pay for the food not the service", yes he actually said this. 4. Waiter/waitress refused to split bill across the table even though it was made clear and agreed upon before the meal and was told it wouldn't be a problem. 5. Steaks were mixed up within our party also. 2 stars would be ZERO but the food was OK and the drinks were OK - Totally reporting this to Marriott/Autograph. The dessert whiskey our server Ramon recommended paired perfectly with the chocolate cake. It used to be best restaurant in El Paso. Very expensive, but the best. After my last visit I am totally disappointed. Food is good but not the best. But Service is the worst. After a $650.00 check we were unable to get a waiter to clear our table or get another round of drinks. After many requests I had no other choice but to ask a waiter for a tray to clear my own table, which to my surprise was actually provided so I piled all the dishes to the tray and delivered to the first waiter I saw and asked to talk to the manager. She came Immediately and instead of asking what was going on she asked me to leave the establishment because I seemed to be very irritated. I explained to her that obviously I was very irritated because of the service I was receiving from her personal and that I expected an apology and a better experience, to which she said she was sorry but I still had to leave and proceeded to open the door for us. Chimicurri doesn't pour easily from a boat, it's all oil and no herbs so rethink that presentation please. Waiter forgot the creamed spinach, he quickly corrected it. There was a tray of butter in the middle of our table and about 30 minutes later a bread tray came by, need to tighten that up. We recently dined at 1700 and loved our experience and overly pleased. The dining room is beautiful and feels like a grand steakhouse of years gone by. Our server Ramon catered to our every need. While our appetizer was just " ok" it was followed up by an outstanding Cesar salad and one of the best steaks I have had in several years. Got the wagyu steak which was phenominal. Cooked to a perfect char which still allowed for maximum flavor. The Prime pork tomahawk was excellent as well and the portions were a lot larger than you'd expect. The jumbo shrimp cocktail was exactly that jumbo.
