We were seated quickly after looking for parking. We parked about 2 blocks away on the street. It was a nice day and the lower patio was packed. Service was slow but the wait staff was working hard. We had the lobster win tons which were delicious. The lobster bisque was ok but not hot, just warm. Our Bistro Burger was cooked properly. Food came out quickly. The patio here is beautiful, and a great atmosphere to eat. Unfortunately the service was incredibly lacking, and so was the food. Our waiter hardly ever came around, which I get a busy restaurant, but we also overheard another waitress say they had more help today than they actually needed that day. The food was bland and underwhelming. The french fries were definitely reheated from the day before. Really wanted to give it two stars but the patio saves it. Such potential! read more

What a cute little place. Popped in for a quick appetizer and cocktail. When you walk in the bar is to the right and is French inspired decorated. They have indoor seating to the left and lots of patio seating outside. We opted for just a quick bite and ordered the guacamole bites. These are lightly fried wontons stuffed with tangy guacamole and served with their signature strawberry pepper jelly. They were very tasty. Our server was super nice and informative. We had a Yelp elite event across the street and were running ahead of schedule so sent to this cute little bistro across the street to grab a cocktail and an appetizer and check out a new place. The guacamole bites were tasty, I had a glass of Pinot Grigio with it. The bartender/ server was super nice and helpful. The ambiance of this little spot is very cool and small. Nice table on the patio and our waitress was very friendly . They have a good menu and husband and I both chose the bison burger. We waited about 25 minutes then waitress came and said the cook overlooked our order and it would be another 15 minutes, they gave us an appetizer until our order came.The toasted ravioli was very good , deep fried to perfection and a nice flavorful sauce. The Bison Burger was a half pound party grilled and loaded with cheddar cheese, bacon crumble plus bacon strip and onion rings served with hot crispy fries. If you haven't tried bison please note that it has a different flavor and texture than ground beef. read more

I ordered a Cobb Salad for lunch. It was insulting! A tiny thin piece of deli style turkey. No egg, no avocado as in their menu description. It looked like a dinner salad. The waitress said she had only been there a few days so she shrugged and said there was only one cook doing everything. Ok but I still had to pay 17.00 for a small salad. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and sat on the patio. We wanted the spinach and artichoke dip but they were out of it. Instead we ordered the guacamole bites. They remind me of all won tons filled with guacamole and served with a pepper jelly sauce. The bites were a little light on the guacamole filling. This is the first time I have visited under the new name and takeover from Braddens. They have retained some of the Braddens menu, but unfortunately got rid of the best deserts the upside down Germans chocolate cake and the coconut crème pie. The font size and choice used in the menu made it very hard to read. The food was good but felt pricier than I remember. We ordered drinks as we were waiting on a couple people. Our servers response to can I have a pint for the beer ordered was "I don't know what a pint is"....yikes Its was Xmas traditions and 32 degrees out the night we went but they had the front door propped open making the front dining room and bar area cold. When we inquired about it we were told it was because "one of the bathrooms was broke" again....yikes. Guess I will hold out for the warmer weather and the patio which as Braddens was my favorite place on Main Street. read more

I took a corporate group (10 people) here for dinner, most of them visiting from Europe. My first clue should have been that there was only one other couple there. The hostess/server was darling and sweet...the one bright spot in the evening. As I was waiting for my group to arrive, a young man walks in and goes straight to the kitchen...on his phone, swearing at whoever he was talking to. I asked the server if they play any music over the speakers and was told the chef chooses/starts music and he just arrived. Not thrilled that the man who walked through the bar area is going to be the "chef." I could hear him yelling at the server through the kitchen door. Telling her don't ever schedule this again, it was stupid. I should have walked out right then and there. Soft jazz music was turned on in the kitchen...not piped through any speakers, just through the kitchen door. We ordered food...they only had 5 of the flat iron steaks left which did accommodate 5 of my people. They were out of the sirloin steak, so I settled for the salmon over buttered noodles, with tomatoes. Not good at all. Two bites of salmon and it was dry. The noodles had no flavor and there approximately 2 pieces of tomatoes on the whole dish. Two of the steaks were overcooked, should have been medium, so those weren't eaten. The one that was ordered well-done was like a brick and not eaten. There was only one vegetable offered as a side...asparagus. We asked for a dessert menu and all they had was cheesecake. Half of the beers my group wanted, they didn't have them. Still offering holiday cocktails on the cocktail menu. Needless to say, the food is not good, the ambience was missing (except for the fireplace), so disappointing. Would not recommend. read more

We had a very average tasting but expensive meal. We read some of the negative reviews before deciding to dine here, so our expectations were tampered from the start. That said, we were still disappointed. Enjoyments: - The atmosphere was pleasant, the music, quiet, and the decor tasteful - Service was prompt and friendly Frustrations: - They were "out of baked potato's". Keep in mind it was 5pm on a Saturday, so this was a suspicious claim - We were charged for our sides despite "two sides included" being stated with the entree we ordered Overall, we have had better dining experiences in St. Charles at other establishments and do not plan to return to 1818 for the time being. Took forever to be seated even though theres no one her at 2:30 on a Wednesday. My steak sandwich was cooked well done instead of medium and piece of raw pork was left on the plate. They looked like they were running around as if they didn't have set sections. I noticed they had missed tables like to get there drinks so I saw maybe three different tables get up and leave. Put our name down for a party of 8 at 530pm. We knew there would be a wait time but we didn't mind. Got the text around 7. Ordering food and 90% of appetizers are sold out. One of the kids item was sold out also. Feel like if you have that big of a party and sold out of a lot, inform us before ordering. Ordered a wrap with no tomatoes, but it came with it. Ordered cheeseburgers for my kids, no cheese on them. The waitress said I'll just bring you a slice of cheese. And that's exactly what she did! Who does that?! Ordered 5 hot chocolates and she was rude saying you need to tell me ahead of time because I have to go make them. Brought them out and all 5 were watered down. Our bills came and all said exactly what we ordered, no tomatoes and cheeseburgers but didn't get that. Waitress was rude and said we need to order food soon, the kitchen will be closing. Again....why seat us if you're closing the kitchen soon?! Will not be going back to this restaurant. read more
