Coffee is now ubiquitous with daily life in America, which brings me to Qamaria Coffee. Hatem and Munif are two Yemeni entrepreneurs with a passion for Yemeni Coffee and the joint goal of wanting to share it with the world. They founded Qamaria Coffee in 2019 to accomplish this task and in January 2024, they opened a location near Milwaukee in Greenfield, WI. Qamaria offers a variety of dessert options, including a Chocolate Tres Leches, Pistachio Tres Leches, and Caramel Tres Leches cakes. I went with the caramel version, which is described by the cafe as "A decadent caramel treat inspired by tres leches cake, creamy, sweet, and irresistibly smooth". If you've never had Tres Leches Cake, it's a light sponge cake soaked in three types of milk (evaporated, condensed, and whole) that's popular in Latin America. The cake originated in Nicaragua during the 19th century, so on first glance it's not exactly a Yemeni dessert. Doing some research, Middle Eastern variations exist that feature cardamom or rose water and some Qamaria locations do have a Rose Tres Leches. It's fine that the Greenfield location did not have that variety as I honestly would have got the caramel version anyway. My slice was perfectly moist as there was plenty of milk soaked in, but not so much that it made a mess or compromised the structure of the cake. The bottom layer was soft and Tiramisu-like in texture, while the cream on top was rich and thick. Personally, I found the caramel flavor to be mild, but delicious. I usually go with a London Fog, and they do a very nice job with it, even adding some latte art. If I could make one suggestion, it would be offering a 16 oz option. The place is small, and nicely furnished, with some natural light coming through the front and rear entrances. The server was friendly and did a great job to answer my questions. (thanks Emily). This is not your typical coffee shop or cafe. There are some very interesting drinks and food items, that you will not find anywhere else. I typically get a hot Tea Latte (London Fog or Chai Latte), but they don't offer those. I was initially disappointed but I quickly got over it. I ended up getting the Creme Brulee Croissant, and a Ancient Brown Sugar Tea. Let's first talk about the Croissant, truly amazing. Like a Creme Brulee (which I love) it has a layer of caramelized sugar on top. The taste and texture was amazing. The Brown Sugar Tea, was very good, but very sweet. I skipped the boba part (tapioca pearls), but might try it next time. The place was quiet and cozy. Some other customers came in and were either working or having quiet conversations. Most of the staff are volunteers and the profits and tips go to charity in Milwaukee and South Sudan. I'm not a big fan of the "corporate" coffee shop experience and the Mission Cafe is anything but that. It is warm, non-rushed, moderately busy, and a good place to read or visit with friends.

I ordered the equivalent of a caprese sandwich, however the tomato slices were so thin, the cheese sparse, and the pesto was almost nonexistent - if not for the green stain on the bread, I'd have thought they forgot to even add it. Definitely not a sandwich worthy of the $13 price tag. No complaints on the drinks. All four of us had greens with a vinaigrette dressing that came with our sandwiches. To me the vinaigrette was just OK, however, I ate my entire salad because I really wanted the vegetables. My husband tasted his and didn't eat anymore. He thought it was gross. I would suggest they offer the vinaigrette and have another kind of dressing as an option. As someone else said, I ordered a glass of water, and was taken aback when I was given bottled water and charged for it. I routinely order ice water at most places I eat at and don't get charged. I do think the wait staff should tell you that they only have bottled water. I was admiring the baked goods and decided to get a fruit tart. As someone else said, there are no prices on the items. I was pretty shocked when she told me that will be $9.98. I was expecting five or six dollars for the size of the item.
