Honestly really nice condos, very modern and clean, nice kitchen, plenty of dishes. The best thing about this spot though is location location location!! 2 minute walk and you're already in Canyon Lodge parking lot! The Village gondola soars overhead in the parking lot of these condos. There is also a shuttle stop right at the end of the driveway so you can use the Mammoth shuttles and nighttime trolley so you never really have to drive anywhere! The only downsides I can think of if I really try is there are no balconies to enjoy the views outside. It snowed about a foot on our last night and we could not find any shovels or window scrapers in the condo. Luckily someone in the parking lot let us borrow their shovel to dig our cars and walkway out. Overall fantastic place, will definitely stay here again! read more

If your sole purpose is to go ski/snowboarding at Mammoth, this condo is close to Canyon Lodge lifts. Otherwise, be prepared to cook at the condo. All the main restaurants and shops are at The Village that open later than 5pm. Also, the condo that we were staying at was run down. The portable heater was broken. There was no central AC/heat in the condo. The blinds were broken and definitely neglected in maintenance. The coffee mugs were tiny. read more

To be perfectly honest, I feel like an idiot for staying here again after our experience two years ago that also fell short of our satisfaction. That being said, I thought we would give them another try since they are so conveniently close to Canyon Lodge. We chose unit #201 because we needed a 3 bedroom and 3 bathroom condo to accommodate our family. It fit the bill for having those options but besides that, overall was disappointing to say the least. For spending right under $2000.00 for a three nights stay, I would expect more. There were so many little things that just added up to a bigger issue in my opinion. To list them, there wasn't a working smart TV in the condo so you were stuck watching network TV. Then the tub in the first bathroom was clogged when we got there. The third bathroom toilet clogged with every flush and had to be plunged even with one piece of toilet paper. The light in the bathroom flickered to the point you got dizzy. The sheets didn't fit the bed and came off as soon as you got in. The dishwasher leaked water out of the bottom. The lights in the refrigerator didn't work. The toaster was a joke trying to push the lever down into the perfect position. The can opener above the toaster apparently caught on fire and was melted. The kitchen faucet was super hard to maneuver. The front door lock was difficult to operate the lock. I could go on and on but it basically is run down and we wished we rented an Airbnb for less and more modern. I know location is important but for next time we will just take the local shuttle and stay somewhere a lot nicer for the price. read more

We booked but there were road closures due to snow and we couldn't make it up. 1849 Mountain Rentals said they would not give us money back or credit for the following year, but would try to rent it out and if so we could get some money. Yet, when I look today, 2/24/2023, it shows not available February 24 or 25. How are they trying to rent it if it shows not available on their website? If it is already rented and they give us money, I'll update this. If no update, they kept the money and gave us nothing. Update: They allowed us to book in April 2023 instead, though the closest lodge and lifts are closed by then so we'll have to drive instead of walk. read more

We've been staying here the last two years in different condos. If you stay in the 1849 building I love Unit 209. There are other good ones too...just look at the pics :)! You can walk to canyon, you can walk to the gondola to go down to the village, and you have a pool and spa there too. If you want to order food, there's a local order delivery service that will bring food right to your condo. The people who work here are awesome. Note the parking is underground too if you stay in the main building, which is a plus. If you have a tall vehicle, there is one area you can park cars over 6'6". There's also outdoor parking. We love staying here for price & location. read more

Have used these condos for the past three years and going to use them again this year. This is my family's "Go To" for rental weekends. The condos are walking distance to the chair lifts. No driving. The condos are spacious and luxurious. Great views of the mountains. Parking is good. Plenty of permitted spots. No fighting for parking. Snow removal of the parking lot is done daily if weather is poor. Pool area is super nice too. Overall would definitely recommend this place to stay for Mammoth. read more

1849 Condos feels like it hasn't been cleaned since 1849. Our unit (#582) was a dustbin. It triggered the allergies in our child and everyone else was sneezing & coughing from the pillows and blankets all night long. Not a wink of sleep. As for WiFi...yeah, that wasn't existent either. For this price, so not worth it and not impressed with this rundown unit. read more

This place is spacious and cozy. Location is nice. Firewood and kitchen wares are provided. However, the heaters are not all functioning. The one in the living room and in one of the room is not working at all. Therefore, people sleep in that room need to wear jacket to sleep. The dishwasher and the garbage disposal are broken. Both sinks flooded and if the dishwasher turned on, the kitchen flooded. We call the front deck twice during our stay tried to get those fixed and nobody answered. You need to take out the trash on your own although there is a charge called cleaning fee. read more

Our family winter trip was amazing! Unit 662 was warm, cozy, and very relaxing. The window lounge was the perfect spot to read and gaze out the window at Nature's beauty. The indoor and outdoor jacuzzies are the ones of the best in Mammoth. Our trip was made even more special by the manager, Cheryl. Your service, friendly manner, and support were vital to our successful stay. When the storms hit, your accommodating efforts made all of our family warm and safe. We stayed here for 3 nights in a 3 bedroom-3 bath unit that sleeps 8. The unit was a bit dated, but it was very spacious and cozy for eight people. The unit was large enough for even 10 people. The kitchen, dining room and living room area had an open floor plan. The living room included a fireplace with fire logs and attached to an enclosed large patio area that could be used for storage or possibly extra guests! After spending a day at the mountain, the unit was very comfortable for all of us to lounge around and not leave the condo. As a bonus, we were located right next to the pool/Jacuzzi area. Pros: 1) Great location!! - 1849 Condos is located right next to Canyon and is an easy walk to hit the slopes. No need to drive to the slopes! 2) Great front desk service - Similar to hotels, if your in need of toilet paper, towels, etc,, the front desk can provide that for you. 3) Indoor and outdoor Jacuzzi 4) Fully stocked condo - fully equipped kitchen, extra blankets, toiletries (shampoo,soap, etc.) Cons: 1) The only drawback was that this particular unit that we stayed in was pretty dated, but it worked! I definitely recommend 1849 condos and will stay here again in the future. read more

My family has stayed at The 1849 Condos since the early 90's. You can't beat the price, considering how close this condo complex is to Canyon Lodge. We had a 3 bedroom, 3 bath condo with full kitchen, living room with wood burning fireplace and a glassed-in patio. I believe it was $150 a night. There were 4 adults and 1 child and it was the perfect size for us. There were flat screen televisions in the living room and 1 bedroom, and the bathrooms had been recently updated and were really nice. While we were there (Sept 2008), Phase 2 was being renovated. We didn't hear any construction sounds, but could see the scaffolding and construction materials when we drove by. I don't know if they're renovating the interior as well as the outside, but anything will be an improvement because these condos have been here a long time and it shows in the design. There are VHS and DVD rentals in the lobby, as well as Wi-Fi in the lobby area only. There is a recreation center with a pool, several spas, a sauna, fireplace, and game room/tv room. I believe I saw some exercise equipment in there as well. read more

I have been going to Mammoth since I was 5 years old. I remember when they were building this complex. Although I don't ski anymore I can see how this would be a great place to be. These days I only fish and enjoy the beauty of Mammoth. I just returned from a annual family fishing vacation and stayed here for the 1st time. I can only say the price is right for staying in what seems like someones home. The management here is top notch...... We will be back next year for sure. read more

Great condo, Great price! Unit #691 We got a 4 bedroom 3 bath unit which was a perfect retreat for us this summer. We had 3 families: 6 adults & 4 teens (and 4 mountain bikes) We assigned one bathroom to each family (for showers, changing etc.) and we all fit comfortably. The 1st floor had 2 bedrooms, both with King beds. One had a master bath that could also be entered from the hall ,and the other room was a tight fit, just big enough for the King bed, dresser a little walking room around the bed, with a guest bath in the hall. The kitchen was a nice size and had most everything needed to cook at home like, pots/pans, knives, dishes, glasses, bake-ware, utensils, scissors, etc (bring your own spices, foil, baggies). We get all the kids to help cook and clean, so we like a big kitchen. The living room was roomy with a huge L-shaped, leather couch and super comfy recliner. The dining room had a nice sized table which sat 8 comfortably, but could squeeze in more, and also had a long window seat where others could sit. One of the dining chairs seemed to be on it's last leg...pun intended...lol. The top floor had 2 bedrooms and 1 bath (tub-shower). One room had 2 queen beds and was roomy with windows that looked over the living room (blinds for privacy). The other had 2 bunk beds (full/twin)and a window seat. The teens hung out in this room a lot. The unit also had access to a rec room with ping-pong table, foosball and an exercise bike, a pool, jacuzzi and sauna and a huge bbq. There were DVDs available for $3 at the check-in desk. This was all great extras for the kids. It was super easy and fast to check-in. The staff was very down to earth and friendly. They gave us 3 keys and maps. The unit is a close drive to everything. It was quiet & peaceful. There is no air conditioning, but with all the windows open it kept a nice air flow. All the rooms had TV sets. We never ran out of warm water for showers. Fun story: At 5am we woke to neighbors yelling and using their remote to honk the car horn. Seems a bear was trying to get in their Lexus. The bear wouldn't scare off...finally the bear opened the car door...2 baby bears popped out and off they all went. It seems the bear had opened the car door and then bumped it closed, trapping the baby bears inside. The car was thrashed inside...the material on the inside doors were all tore up. The Moral to the Story: Believe the rule-- DON'T leave ANY food in your car! read more

I recently stayed at the 1849 condos, and had a great time. It was a last minute booking (we called 2 hours before we arrived), and the staff was friendly and helpful. The condo was clean and comfortable, and best of all for our purposes, walking distance to Mammoth Brewing Company. In the future, despite my hatred of stairs, I think I'd try to get a condo on the top floor, as we ended up with a Girl Scout troop (or something similar) above us, and they liked to run around at 6 am. read more

Beautiful place. First time here. Came on a groupon so very reasonable. Since its summer and mid week not very many people at all. Would have given 5 stars but they didn't even give me salt or sugar in the kitchen. The pantry cupboard was bare. Hard to cook without at least a minimum of spices. They provided coffee but no sugar??? The nearest Von's you can find it all but prices are rather expensive (coming from SoCal where food is cheap) so plan accordingly. Also there is a 10 am check out which is harsh but they seem amenable to later when it's off season (will see). Otherwise beautiful location and very very clean and spacious. read more

My family has stayed here twice and both times we absolutely enjoyed our experience! Our most recent visit was too unit #614 it has a huge kitchen and living room area with cozy fireplace and flat screen tvs in every room. There is a great nook area to sit and enjoy the spectacular view! The condo complex is walking distance to the ski lift! My whole family are skiers and this was amazing! The actual unit consisted of 3 bedrooms two downstairs each with a queen bed and it's own bathroom! The matter bedroom is so big it takes up the entire top floor! The window has a charming window seat to look out on three mountain! There is a great office area! The condo had great Wi-Fi. These owners definitely aim to please! They provide guests with a variety of board games to play. The ceilings are vaulted and the decor is very charming and quaint! The kitchen is fully stocked with all the culinary tools anyone could need! Don't forget to ask the front desk for fire starter supplies as logs are provided! All I can say is we can't wait to go back. The location was amazing, the staff was fabulous and the condo was amazing! Don't forget to hop in the super hot tub after a long day skiing or playing in the snow!! We give this place our highest recommendation! read more

Condo #692 in the winter. I'll start off with the positives, the location is awesome! Short walk to the slopes and village gondola, across the parking lot is the laundry room, spas, and game room. The heaters in this unit are great, there's a small built in heater in each room that keeps it nice and warm. We actually had to turn it off a few times. We were stocked with a large amount of firewood. Unfortunately, the positives stop there. The condo itself is extremely dated, as is the furniture. The kitchen is very dim at night. The couches are old and worn out, let's just say I felt the need to Lysol them before we sat down. The green couches were so worn out they are barely holding its shape, and I don't think the pull out couch should even qualify as a sleeping spot. The shower curtain in the downstairs bathroom is due to be changed out. The drawers in all the bedrooms were practically falling apart. Basic cable and wifi is provided, although the wifi didn't work for almost 2 days. The laundry facility is small but good, you will need to get quarters from the front desk. There are 2 washers & 2 dryers ($2.25 wash, 50 cents to dry). The ladies we encountered at the front desk were polite & helpful, the gentleman on the other hand gave us a hard time when requesting additional toilet paper & paper towels. We decided to go to the spa and went to the front desk to get "pool" towels (only bath towels are supplied in the condo), although we only ask for 1 towel per person this gentleman felt the need to give us a lecture about the current California drought. He told us we are tapping into their water supply when they need to wash all these towels. He was very sarcastic and rude throughout our stay which was very disappointing, it made us very uncomfortable to ask anything of the front desk who is supposedly there to help us throughout our stay. I understand each condo is individually owned, so please know this review is only for condo #692. read more

Had a great stay, minus the loud neighbors partying til midnight but whatever they were on their fun vacay..so I get it. Our condo was bigger than expected, up to date and had all the necessary amenities..front desk staff so very laid back and helpful helping us map stuff around. Location is ideal close to it all. Clean, except there was a bathing suit left behind in one of the bathrooms from previous guest..we just left it hanging there. Trolley stop just across the street from lobby area. Very convenient. Village on 5 min away, Vons was only 5/6 min away, lake mary and George only 12 min away, adventure center only 12 min away. read more

We stayed 4 nights for spring break. Our unit 110 was older but spacious, clean and right next to the pool and jacuzzi. Canyon Lodge closed the day before we arrived but the property owners kindly drove us to Main Lodge which was truly an amazing service. The service at 1849 was beyond expectations and we had a fantastic trip plus were there for 2 feet of fresh snow. read more

We stayed here for 3 nights during Jan 2016 and were quite pleased. The location is so easy to get to Canyon Lodge which makes it easy to stop by the condo for lunch or a mid-day break. Love that they have covered/garage parking and recycle containers on premise. We stayed in Unit #302 and it was recently updated with granite counters in the kitchen and updated bathrooms. The beds were soft and bedding was fine. They have humidifiers which make for a nice experience too. The TVs in the living room and each bedroom are nice. The staff at 1849 are friendly and helpful. The two hot tubs outside are nice and large and perfect after a long day in the snow. They have an indoor hot tub as well, but it was closed during our visit. They have ping pong and foosball in the pool-house, but we were hoping for billiards too. This place is definitely worth the extra price to stay as close to Canyon, but check out the photos to make sure you select a unit that has the right beds (e.g. do you need bunk beds), and modern upgrades you are looking for as these places can vary on the upkeep. read more

Love the location and close proximity to the gondola and Canyon Lodge. So convenient. Parking can be a slight issue if you have a large party with multiple cars, but the front desk can make exceptions, depending on occupancy at the time. There was plenty of parking available when we went (first week of January), so it wasn't a hassle if you had to run somewhere. You can also ask for a late check-out, but I'm not familiar with the customer service or cost, since I wasn't the one that dealt with the reservations. :) read more

Snow Bird Condo SB106 was absolutely wonderful! This large 1 bedroom was newly remodeled, comfortable, quiet, and had a peaceful, private view off its balcony. The Manager of Snow Bird, Patrick, was friendly, helpful, and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. We appreciated everything Dane and his office at 1849 did in setting up our reservations, making sure our needs were met, and then following up upon our arrival. Unit #512: We have stayed at 1849 Condos for many years (decades actually!). We have stayed in many units and this gorgeous condo is our top choice. We highly recommend this unit to others. It has a beautifully updated kitchen and bathrooms, the furniture is comfortable, homey and cozy. The unit is spacious, very clean, has a very well supplied kitchen, awesome, comfortable beds and has a warm mountain feeling. We always would come up during the winter. This past 4th of July was our first time going during the summer...and it will now be a family tradition. The 1849 Condos are perfectly located for either winter or summer. It is right across the way from Canyon Lodge where you can walk to the chair lifts and gondola. During the summer it is very close to many beautiful hiking areas and Devil's Postpile. Earlier this year I found myself in a storm both literally and figuratively. We were staying at 1849 Condos for a few days. A storm was rolling in when we were supposed to be leaving town. The staff was kind, courteous, knowledgeable, and generous. When they learned my car broke down they recommended Alpine Garage- which was an amazingly positive experience. Every time I needed help in the storm, had a question or concern the staff was more than helpful. We wound up snowed in there and I felt so cared for by the people who worked there- it made all the difference and although mother nature raged outside I felt the warmth of humanity inside. read more

We stayed in unit 543 in February of 2016. Loved it. Great bang for the buck. This single level condo has a wall of glass looking into and over the trees spread out below. It's like staying in a tree house and has quite a lot of space compared to other small, dark and dank 70's and 80's condos that are common in Mammoth. Parking is a dream - right outside close by the front door, with no stairs to navigate and no height restrictions common to underground parking. This condo is perched on top of a hill overlooking the trees has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, offers 1050 sq. ft., an updated kitchen, and a warm and cozy layout. The living room contains a fireplace and a 42" flatscreen TV with a blue ray DVD, the master bedroom has a 32" flatscreen; TV W/ DVD, while the 2nd bedroom also has a 32" flatscreen TV W/ DVD. The ottoman in master bedroom folds out into an additional twin bed. The living room also has a couch bed. Ideal layout for individuals, couples, and children. Telephone includes free unlimited local and long distance. The unit includes free firewood and high speed wireless internet. The windows are upgraded double pane and keep the air in the condo moist and warm instead of dry and cold. The 1849 complex, personally developed by the family who owned the Mammoth ski resort, has a newer pool and two newer outdoor hot tubs, as well as laundry, club house facilities, and DVD movie rentals at the front desk that is manned by a nice and attentive staff. Ski or walk (depending on snow conditions) about 200 yards to the ski lifts and Canyon Lodge and all its amenities! Convenient and free shuttle service to downtown Mammoth and the Village at Mammoth. Convenient access in the summer to bike trails, ski lifts, and the village bike shuttles. read more

Condo is dated, but the location and view are fantastic. I would like to warn other guests that if you take the trolley to the village from the resort that it is difficult to get back. We took the trolley around 5pm from 1849, got dropped off at the village, ate dinner at a burger place, hour or so go back to where we were dropped off and they would not take us back to the resort. They kicked us off the trolley once they realized where we were staying. Told us a confusing direction to another trolley pick up. We ended up at another trolley pick up where they kicked us off the trolley again. Called a taxi that told us that he had too many other pick ups to come get us and to wait for the trolley.... It was snowing. We ended up walking until a local law enforcement saw us and drove us back. read more

Perfect Location and Beautiful Mountain View - Unit # 512 I have been coming Mammoth for decades and 1849 Condos are the best place to stay! This particular unit (#512) has beautiful furnishings and is super clean. It is our favorite! It has a neat cabin feel and the beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms were recently remodeled. The family room has a window seat with a huge picture window that looks right out onto Mammoth Mtn. You can walk to the ski lifts or take the gondola into town. My husband doesn't ski so he loves being able to walk our kids to ski school, and watch for a while and then come home. Parking on the streets can be a bear around the mountain, so staying at 1849 is such a luxury to be able to walk to the slopes. If we are trying to save money, we sometimes eat at the condo for lunch and then go back out. My older kids and I love being able to take the gondola into the village to get hot chocolate after a long day of skiing. It's also wonderful to relax in one of the 3 Jacuzzis or sauna. Across the street is a huge empty lot for sledding. Summer in Mammoth for the hiking and fishing is great too. Rob, at the office, hooked us up with kayaks. That was a blast. Don't miss the Jazz festival or 4th of July parade. If you want a great condo with incredible views and a perfect location, then this unit is for you. read more

Just returned from my first trip to Mammoth in 10 years. I decided on staying at 1849 condos because of their walking distance to Canyon Lodge. From the moment we checked in and got our keys - the staff was nice, informative and accommodating. The underground parking was extremely convenient. The bathrooms in the parking garage were a plus. The hot chocolate and warm cider were always available. Our 2 bedroom/2 bath condo was already warm and ready for our arrival. The complex was busy but not noisy - you could not hear your neighbors at all! The kitchen was well-stocked with a full size refrigerator, new stove, microwave, and dishwasher. The front desk staff were great on check out day. We checked out on a Wednesday and asked if we could leave our car parked at the complex. They told us it wasn't a problem and to go out and have fun - which we did. This complex is well managed, the staff is super and we can't wait to return!!!! read more
