I stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed my stay here! I was in Room 5 and it was cozy, clean and comfy. Made for a great basecamp for your outdoor activities. I like that this place is outside of Mammoth Lakes proper, so you're not dealing with too many other people. This place is very quiet and with pretty sick view of mountains whichever direction you look. Woman operating this place, Dee, was very nice and helpful. They dont do daily housekeeping for your room but they will take out your trash and refill the coffee K cups. Room 5 was exactly what I needed. Had a comfy bed, nice hot shower and a fun bathroom. Coffee machine in the room, nice mini fridge and microwave. TV has many channels, through satellite and subscriptions. Only issue I had was that the thermostat wasnt quite working right and my room was super hot. I gave them a call and a guy came to look at the heating and couldnt fix it but was able to open the window for me which did cool the room off. Great views through the windows in Room 5. Ample free parking here and breakfast served on weekends. Very well priced, and gorgeous here! Overall, a great stay and definitely would come back here! I would love to stay here also in the summer too and see these beautiful mountains again! read more

Book here if you would like to sleep with mice and rodent poop! Rodent poop was found in "cleaned towels" and in "cleaned bed sheets." Managed was contacted immediately using their after hours emergent number. Management was notified and NEVER followed up with this incident!! Horrible experience! As we were unable to sleep that night! As a matter of a fact I had to keep calling their office once it opened the following day to follow up on this incident and was requesting a full refund!! Management said that no refund could be provided for the initial night that we checked in despite sending proof of poop and rodents infestation!! Manager confirmed that if we're not going to stay the second night, they would rent the cabin out for the second night!!! Insane giving they now know about this infestation and are choosing to just scam people knowing there is serious safety and rodent infestation!! I feel sorry for whoever thought they were getting lucky in finding cabin near Mammoth with a huge rush of snowboarders and visitors heading that way!!! Additionally, management was already be determined to not issue refund for the first night before I even explained the whole situation!!! AVIOD AT ALL COST! Posting picture so you see this place and what it comes with! If I could give zero out of 5 starts I had to go through the third site booking where I initially booked to obtain a full refund. We stayed here from July 1st to July 4th. 2026 and it was almost perfect! We got a surprise $100 gift certificate for food which was amazing! And all the accommodations were really lovely! The only thing was the air conditioner didn't work so well at night when we were sleeping and all the cupboards and everything are very high. We couldn't get things out of the cupboard and there was no step besides that it was lovely! The hot tub was a bit of a walk but a really nice feature! Everybody was so nice and so kind. We stopped by to check out this cafe and ended staying for dinner. I believe they said they only serve dinner on Friday & Saturday nights. Don had the chicken sandwich which was pretty good but we both thought the salmon was excellent. It was perfectly cooked and the whole meal was delicious! I had the opportunity to stay in the Ice House for 6 nights. We were up there for fishmas. The cabin was super clean and well stocked. We eat at the restaurant a couple of times and the food was good and the staff was very friendly. I was very impressed with all the staff and we look forward to coming back next time. read more

Nice little lodge across from Crowley Lake and minutes away from Convict Lake. Stayed at #5 Mt. Morgan and it's is small with the slanted ceilings which my wife may have bumped with her head a few times. But cute lodge and very thankful for warm bed and hot shower. They had small "breakfast" items for guests like breads and juices that wouldn't say is a full breakfast. The cafe is good and loaded tater tots were crunchy! read more

Everyone here is so nice and makes you feel at home. + You get a $25 voucher to use at the store at their other locations (like Convict Creek) + We stayed in the McGee Canyon room 1, and it was amazing!! The room was clean and newly renovated. There is a microwave, decent sized fridge, cable TV, king sized bed, and an outdoor gas bbq grill! We really loved this ? recently renovated, rustic lodge. So clean and comfy in a beautiful setting. Thank you, JoJo for the local info and local color. Store is well stocked for every food and supply need. Free hot coffee and pastries and waffles available in the mornings. Nice dining area with pine booths and kitchenette for making own meals. I'd love to rate five stars, but for one thing, I was unprepared for the noise from Hwy 395. Next time I'll ask for a room on the other side of the hall. For another thing, I was annoyed by an off-leash yappy little dog that barked and growled and rushed at me every time I walked by. The written rules on the welcome sheet clearly state that dogs must be on a leash and must not menace other guests or pets. Even as a dog lover, I found this dog and his people out of control and unpleasant. And while I can't expect the lodge staff to be pet police (most of the time there was no staff there), that dog and the fwy noise did drop down the rating one star. read more

This is the best lodge we have ever been in the Sierra Nevadas. My wife and I stayed in one of the rooms. I also stayed by myself in Little Mc Gee cabin a different date. The room and cabin were beautiful, all recently renovated, had modern furniture and very nice bathrooms. The beds were very confortable. The manager and the rest of the staff were always helpful and made us feel at home. We had continental breakfast and coffee in the morning. The place is very quiet, ideal for couples and also families. They have a sister lodge with a nice restaurant 15 minutes away in the famous Convict Lake where you can rent boats, canoes, hike or ride horses. If you travel 20 minutes you will be in Mammoth Lake, with more restaurants, shops, hiking trails and mountain biking. There are also many lakes, creeks and rivers in the area. I saw many families hiking and fishing together. I also drove the scenic 395 highway to to Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite, a true paradise for families to spend time outdoors. My family and I had a pleasant stay at McGee creek lodge over spring break. The communication was great and the service was excellent. We arrived after check in time and was promptly given check in instructions with the code to our cabin. Our cabin was stocked with everything from cutlery, pots and pans and the most important : COFFEE! There was a keurig and a coffee pot available and the lobby also had delicious fresh coffee every morning. We did run into some slight hiccups with the sleeper sofa and a visitor (critter in the wall, it is in the middle of nature after all) and management spoke to me and made the situation right. It was truly appreciated to be taken care of in such a professional manner. We enjoyed exploring the creek area which was just a few steps away from our cabin. Everyone on the staff we encountered was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back soon and look forward to our future visit! read more

This is a long one... My husband and I stayed in the Lake View cabin at McGee Creek Lodge this past weekend. We stayed Thursday night to Sunday, check out Sunday morning. McGee Creek Lodge is right off of the highway across from Crowley Lake. It is between Crowley and Convict Lake and sister to Convict Lake Resort. We found McGee Creek Lodge because my son went with some good friends to Convict Lake Resort where they are having their wedding in the summer and I asked him to pick up some trip brochures and he did and here we are. Husband and I wanted to go fishing but had no clue as to where to go or where to stay. Maps of the area that we have seen make it look like everything is so far away from everything else and I wanted something close to a lake. I figured McGee Creek Lodge with its separate little cabins with kitchens was perfect for my early breakfast eating husband and it had a jacuzzi...and it was. The lodge sits across from the RV and camping sites AND it has a fishing pond with some BIG trout. It's pay to fish and you don't need a fishing license on site to fish. If we still had little kids, my kids are adults, this would be our go to adventure in the summertime. I imagine I would have sent my husband away to fish on a lake or river and I would have hung out at the pond with the kiddos and taken them hiking or horseback riding, because THATS A THING!!!!! Next time I'm doing that. Anyway, we show up and the adorable rustic outside of the cabin is adorable. It has a small covered porch with a full sized propane BBQ and beyond that, with a gorgeous view of Crowley across the highway, is a ready and waiting jacuzzi big enough for four adults. Lake View Cabin is a single story cabin which is why I chose it, I didn't want stairs or I would have booked the Ice House cabin, which has some cool history behind it. The interior of the Lake View is spacious for a cabin...modern, light, airy and clean. We loved it. We felt isolated and it was so quiet, the shoosh of the big trucks moving on the highway and the rushing creek that borders the property lulled more than anything and we felt safe. The kitchen was nicely organized with keurig and drip coffee makers and full sized appliances with exception to the tiny dishwasher which was perfect. The windows had beautiful honey comb blinds that were easy to maneuver. The bathroom was fully stocked, they even provided make up remover packets and two plump, plush embroidered bath robes and extra towels. Large mounted television with lots of streaming opportunities like Netflix and prime...just don't forget to sign out when you leave. The jacuzzi was hot and ready to use. We sat out in it our second evening there and watched the bats swooping and flying, catching insects. Entry to the cabin was keyless, no one was there when we arrived, we didn't expect that though, according to the information I received and we picked up our paperwork and received the door code and instructions for stay and departure. At the end of our stay, we just wiped down the kitchen, put the trash out in the bear safe bin outside the cabin, washed the dishes we used in the dishwasher, put them away before leaving and closed the door. We have been camping in the Mammoth Lakes area for going 15 years now. The last few years we have been staying at McGee Creek Lodge. The new ownership has put a lot of money into the lodge. They have a nice store now and are added a couple new cabins. We stay in the Ice House and enjoy the hot tub. They recently added a nice grass area as well. All of the staff between McGee and Convict resorts are super friendly, helpful, and very responsive with any needs. We have already booked for next year!​ read more

The coffee in the rooms was delicious. Continental breakfast was everything you need ( maybe maple syrup but honey worked ). We come to convict lake every year and when we heard they bought McGee Creek lodge decided to give it a try. Awesome stay! We stayed in the lake view cabin. Much larger cabin then the ones at convict. More secluded but we love that. We timed it, 7 min drive door to door to convict lake. So not far at all. We spent every night relaxing in the jacuzzi with a gorgeous lake view! Judy and Phil run the whole day to day on their own. I can't believe what these two power houses can do! My cabin was very clean more then any cabin we've stayed in before. These two deserve a raise. They literally do it all and with a smile! We will definitely be back. Save your own life! I stayed in room 7 on 10-4-24. The fire alarm has been removed. The co-owner was aware of this. He noted the shower steam set off the fire alarm so the solution was to remove a life/safety device! Maybe think about moving the device, not removing it. Duh! I also let him know the emergency stairwell did not a crash bar on the door (single effort hardware), a floor cleaning machine was in the fire corridor, and if there was a fire or need to escape from the secondary stairwell make sure to bring your own flashlight as there is no light to exit down the stairs at night. When an owner is aware of that life/safety systems have been removed that would protect you per building and fire code requirements I would hope you will select another place to stay. read more

Definitely one of the more interesting hotels I have stayed at!! My son and I were fishing Lake Crowley and opted to choose McGee Creek Lodge due to the proximity. The lodge itself doesn't have a wow factor, but inside the rooms have some really nice touches. Towel warmers, faux fireplace, etc. really added to the ambiance. We had a portable AC unit in the room which helped keep things cool, but I am not sure if it would have done the trick on a really warm day. The cafe next door was REALLY good by the way! They are connected, but I am not sure if it is the same business. read more

Ownership has changed and they have done a great job of making this little mountain lodge a wonderful place to stay. We have always stayed here prior to the ownership stay and have been happy. We showed up this time to new beds, which were super comfortable, upgraded rooms and bathrooms. Showers had great pressure, heated towel racks and new tv's. Prior to check in, I received emails with our check in codes and was able to go straight to our room with no problem. During our stay we needed a couple of things and Lisa from the lodge was amazing! Stayed at McGee Creek Lodge for the first time this week. The room was nice, spacious and clean. That being said, I did not see any staff the entire time we were there. I needed just a few basic things like toilet paper but no one to ask. Once at the Convict lake store I asked for them there. Then we were so looking forward to enjoying a cup of coffee/pastry at McGee Creek restaurant adjacent to our room. It was temporarily closed. I wished we would have known. We would have stopped and picked up some items from the market to have in room. The nearest place to get some food would be Convict lake. The room did have a Kuerig but only 4 coffee pods, a few creamer and sugar packets. No tea or hot cocoa.... It was approximately $825.00 for 4days/3nights. Considering how much we spent I expected more .... We wont stay here again or least not until they reopen the restaurant and some staff on sight. But if you're looking for a clean, updated place to stay this is it. Just don't forget your coffee/ warm drink essentials and extra toilet paper :) ! read more

We made our reservations about 4 weeks ago. We've never stayed at McGee before and wanted to try it out. We called to make our reservation it was supposed to be 3 adults and two service dogs. The lady on the phone was very pleasant. Told us the ice house would be perfect so we reserved it. I gave her my credit card information. 2 weeks later one of the family member that was coming, got very ill and was in the hospital all day. That evening I called and got Pete on the phone and asked if we could please cancel our reservation that was coming up in 12 days. He said you wil be charged. I said that we can't make it because my family member is in the hospital and this is almost two weeks notice. He said it has to be a month notice to cancel or we will be charged the full amount useless someone rents out the cabin. I said oh that shouldn't be a problem. You guys are usually pretty busy and booked out. You'll probably be able to get that rented . He said okay. I'll go ahead and cancel you and send you an email. About 2 days later. I checked online and they actually blocked off Saturday. Had Friday and Sunday open. So I called and said you guys have Saturday blocked. How can someone rent it? So we can get our money back. He said oh well they just have to call us. I said if someone goes online and sees that the Saturday is blocked, they're not going to call you because they are assuming it is not available and go elsewhere! I thought wow this is pretty sheisty!! So We waited another week and checked again, same status. We called back and told them we'll go ahead and reinstate, anyway. Just leave the one family member behind. Said okay. That'll be 75 additional dollars! Wow! We could not believe this. Before we came, I emailed and asked if they had a coffee pot, if not, we were going to bring our own. Pete said it is a full kitchen and they have coffee and a coffee pot! We got there around 9:00 on Friday night. The cabin was super cute. We settled in for the night. Got up first thing in the morning. I wanted to make coffee and low and behold. Their Keurig did not work. I put the coffee in closed it turned it on? It did not filter through to make coffee. Just hot water. I tried it several more times. Still didn't work. I tried to call the number posted on the door. No luck. I emailed convict Lake. Nothing. A few hours later I received a text message from someone that worked at McGee asking me how everything was? I told them our coffee pot does not work. Can we please get a different one? And we also wanted a second robe. There was only one available in the room. We left for the day when we came back. We had a robe in front of the door but still no coffee pot. I texted again. No answer until the next day telling me to go ahead and use the coffee pot in the room. Hello, it's broke so we had to buy $8 worth of offees both days even though we just paid over $360 per night. We will definitely never stay at McGee Lodge again. I would also not recommend anyone to stay there. We ran into two different people that also said they could not get a hold of anybody that works there. It also doesn't give you instructions of how to check out. Just tells you all about how many fines you will get if there's any damage or if you check out late . I again call the number and was only able to leave a message with the lady handling the phones and she didn't even know. Then I emailed convict and the guy that texted me the first day. Again, no answer. So we Cleaned, swept stripped the beds took out the garbage made the place look better than when we got there originally and left and then called convict Lake. Spoke to Pete and told him we did know how to check out. Do we just leave? He said yes. Thank you I told him about the coffee pot situation. He said the person we were communicating with said that we were all set. Bad service all around the cabin itself and the jacuzzi was very nice though. We also had a bad experience with the Convict lake boat rental place. The guy was so rude and embarrassed me in front of his co co-worker and other guests. I told the lady about it and she said oh I know who that was, that is unacceptable behavior! I will call him. read more
