I was excited to try this restaurant because my parents loved their experience. The outside is such a vibe. You can take photos in front of the restaurant. You can sit inside or outside. Our waiter was nice and took our drink order. While we were reviewing the food menu, a cockroach ran on top of my menu. We killed the roach but we got grossed out and told the waiter we were leaving. However, I felt like I was rushed y the services and really wasn't given enough time to enjoy the. atmosphere. Ordered a taco Tuesday beer from Monday night brewing but the tap was empty. Decent draft beer selection though. Jalapeño corn poppers were average with a somewhat bland aioli. I ordered the Buffalo shrimp tacos ad a main. The shrimp was heavily breaded and drenched in sauce so no shrimp taste to the meal. The fresh bits of bleu cheese were a nice touch and saved the taco. We asked our waitress for recommendations for our appetizers and entrees and sides, and she definitely recommended really good things. We went to dinner here with reservations and without a budget, so we enjoyed all the goodies! We started with the soup of the day and a caesar salad for our appetizers. The soup of the day was a crap bisque, which is always one of my favorites... so good! For dinner, I ordered the signature sirloin enhanced with mushrooms and onions. Im not usually one to get anything on my steak, but the veggies mixed with the herb butter was a burst of flavor! I've never had anything quite like that herb butter. The side item was just as good as any...hush puppies with honey butter... yum! The crispy hush puppies with the super sweet honey butter was maybe my favorite experience of the whole night. We also got a side of green beans which snapped beautifully and were very very nicely salted. The atmosphere here is really calm, quiet, beautifully decorated, and pretty upscale classy with a country farmhouse twist. It's the perfect spot for a nice date-night dinner! read more

Had dinner with a large group in early September. It's a relatively new restaurant so it wasn't too crowded. Parking could bit a bit of an issue but there are locations off premises with a short walk to the restaurant. I ordered wings and they were really good. I also got the pecan bread pudding which was also very delicious. Will definitely make it back there. Everyone thought the food they ordered was great. It seems they lean more towards seafood though than the acworth location. read more

This very busy restaurant has a good potential however does not provide a cooking consistency. For example, my husband 30 days aged ribeye steak was excellent, but my chicken tights with North Carolina white bbq sauce were overcooked and dry. My watermelon salad had old tasteless feta cheese , but my husband's side's salad was fresh and tasty. Our server was good but the whole ambiance at the restaurant felt like speed dating, the salads came before even the wine was served. There is a difference between the efficiency and being rushed. Was at this place last night and the food was reasonable. What I hate about this place, and I had the same experience at the Acworth location, is the service. The servers don't seem to understand that after the appetizers are finished it is expected to remove ALL the plates and serving dishes once everyone is finished eating !! This did not happen so then we had to eat our main course looking at several plates with chicken bones on. This is really not acceptable for a restaurant that would like to be up market. At 2 out of 2 on this complaint there must be a systemic issue ... poor training. Shame really because so easy to fix. Good luck .... read more

This summer it seems that the menu and quality of food has changed at both locations. The ambiance is still great, service good but the food not as good. We started going to the Kennesaw 1885 grill. It started as a whim it became our go to. The food there is great. You've never had a complaint. It has flavor that we like.! the service there is outstanding too. We always go for particular bartenders because we know they take care of as well and they care about what we want and ask if we're OK all the time. It's a quaint place. Most of the food we ordered was good. The consistency of crab bisque needs some work. It was extremely watery and lacked flavor. The smoked salmon and artichoke dip was good. The warm pita paired nicely! I ordered the Chilean Salmon for my entree which was good however the compound butter was forgotten and the seasonal vegetables were extremely burnt and uneatable. I want very much to like this place. It has a great atmosphere but other things fall short. The staff members have bad attitudes and are not engaged with customers. The wait staff are loud and clang dishes when cleaning the table worse than any Waffle House I have ever been to. The food is really good which is another reason I want to like it but many other places that treat their patrons well and do their job much better. Bottom line upfront. The Kennesaw location of 1885 is much better than the Acworth location hands down and by far. We had a party of 10 and were seated on time and our server was fantastic. This place is OMG delicious. The apps in the picture were delicious. The corn fritters are capital "O" Outstanding. I loved the pimenta cheese on the fried green tomatoes. I tasted 3 entrees. My wife loves Shrimp and Grits and 1885 did not disappoint. They were really good. My son had the Southern Fried Chicken over mashed potatoes. It was a large fried boneless cutlet. The gravy had a creole taste to it and it was all fantastic. I had the blackened chicken and pasta. The creamy Cajun sauce was delish. The linguini was perfectly al dente. I added grilled veggies to it and the squash and mushrooms were a perfect addition. My wife and I shared a warm brownie topped with vanilla ice cream. I will absolutely be back for steaks in the near future. Our waitress, Jasmine, was sweet, attentive and on point. Our water glasses were never empty and empty plates were cleared quickly. Maggie was our server and she is a rockstar - we had the jalapeno fritters for an app, then the Sea Bass and the Salmon for the entrees.... every item was perfectly cooked and Maggie suggested all of the items to us!!!! Pete, the GM, came by a few times to check on us and we were quite impressed with everything!!!! This is a great dining experience and we will absolutely be back to see Maggie and Pete. We dine out about 2 or 3 times a week and after two years of living here - this was the very best dining experience we have had (and we are restaurant people!).
