I was a little worried at first after we were seated because it took a while to be greeted but after that everything else was spectacular. The ambiance seemed almost like a 'run down fancy' if that makes sense? We got to sit in the big booth and the lights were dimly lit. You can dress up or down when dining in. No, it's way overpriced that mean it's nothing special pay an arm and a leg for a steak dinner and then you want it well done and just because they don't like their food while done they're not gonna make the way you want it and I'm not sending food back and have them mess with my steak once the pandemic can set in and they eliminated the buffet is at all the casinos then I'll get no more they got overpriced restaurants which is beyond me why they didn't keep the buffets because they got a lot of people coming in and probably 75%. I mean I make millions and millions of dollars profit every month and I guess the city of St. Louis is just glad they get on the tax revenue. They ain't worried about enforcing them to do what they were supposed to do. They need to bring back the buffets or they should be closed down and move to a different city. My, my, my. What can i even sa. I done happened upon this place on aksident, as I was walkin to my gmas. I felt my tummy turnin and I knew if i didn't get somedin in my stomak rit away Id pass out. Came here about a week ago. What a great meal we had. We ordered the Lobster Mac N Cheese as an appetizer. This was so cheesy and delicious and plenty of it left to take home for leftovers. The bread that they serve is the best. Taste like a nice homemade bread with seasalt on top. I normally order the Filet steak but decided to order the Steak Frites. The Brandy Caper sauces really made it pop, will definitely order this next time. It came with parmesan fries which were good but think a baked potato would have been better with it next time. It was my friend's Birthday. They brought her a yummy chocolate cheesecake type dessert. The waitress was very attentive. The manager, Jason, stopped by the table several times to make sure all was okay. We sat at a table in a room all the way in the back. First time in this area. We were here for a personalized head chef experience! Being allergic to beef and pork I was a bit hesitant but it turns out I had nothing to worry about! We started out with appetizers of jumbo shrimp, baked goat cheese, wellfleet oysters and short ribs on toast. Next we were served both Ceasar and winter yellow beet salad. Next came a delicious seafood ravioli. The highlight of the evening, Tomahawk Ribeyes, served with scallops with bacon, Brussels sprouts and jumbo lobster tail. For me, I had scallops with Parmesan risotto and salmon and lobster tail. We topped the evening off with chocolate cake and a white chocolate strawberry mousse/cheesecake. Each course was paired with a lovely wine. Every we were served was extraordinary. 5 stars! The staff was attentive, professional and wonderful with my allergy issues. The restaurant was beautiful. This was an outstanding experience start to finish. The service was incredible. Our server was very friendly and attentive. There was also a bus person who made sure our water glasses were always full and quickly cleared the table of finished dishes (he was a star!). And the food and drinks were amazing. Tried this for the Sunset Menu deal. Only $28 between 5 and 6 on certain nights. Needed to show my ID to get in. Three folks up front who were more focused on POS than looking you in the eye. However, they did know their regular guest. Seated and promptly greeted by my waiter, Serg. He was so friendly and definitely made me feel comfortable as a single diner. Brought my Merlot quickly. The bread, herb focaccia and a sweet roll with a soft European butter with volcanic salt was warm and excellent. A full sized Caesar salad with lots of fresh Parmesan. Yum! Was seated at a booth and the room has an exceptional decor. Beautiful stained glass, crystal chandeliers and Frank Sinatra singing in the background was very relaxing...or was that the good wine? A nice bar with sports TVs too. Steak was perfectly cooked medium, seasoned to perfection and the baked potato was the size of Missouri. Another server asked how I would like it, ie with sour cream etc. and prepared for me. Way too much food for one person and I was hungry! Didn't feel at all uncomfortable asking to box it all up, even half eaten potato and left over bread. First restaurant that I felt like they wanted me to enjoy ever bite. I had to take a few bites of the carrot cake which was just splendid, not over sugary sweet. Can't wait to have it for breakfast with some coffee! Don't miss this special. Once a beautiful restaurant has become somewhat of a run down. The staff is shorthanded, but try to keep up the best they can. Beth and Serge are always consistant and have a smile to greet us every time. We don't sit at the bar, there always seems to be a loud obnoxious man right in the middle of everyone and their conversations. This is no reflection of the bartender, he seems to be very attentive and friendly. We noticed the long time waiter assistant, Nick is gone, but Sherrie certainly carries the weight very well. My husband often comments about her limp and how she manages to do her job like a tornado! Please bring back the prime rib! We miss it. read more

Unfortunately the service here was terrible. The young girl at the front would only allow VIP members to be seated 30 minutes before the place closed. While we tried to explain that we were guests at the casino We were unable to be seated and we're treated quite rudely. It's very unfortunate because we were really excited to try the steaks based off of the recommendation we received. Unfortunately, hospitality like this is how restaurants lose customers and with how frequent restaurants in casinos change I would hope that they would get better customer service in the future and deliver on the operating hours that they have posted. read more

So let me first say that they dinner for me and my group was compliments of River City Casino. We were having a social media weekend event at Lumiere Hotel, and the Pinnacle Group owns both Lumiere Place and River City Casino, and they sent us there for dinner on Saturday night as the restaurant is better than any of their restaurants in Lumiere Place. First, we got lots of special treatment because they knew we would be tweeting, taking pictures and posting blogs/reviews. The chef came out to our table twice, and talked to us about the different cuts of steak and the side dishes. The entire staff was unbelievably attentive...a 5 star rating...but I'm not letting that influence my overall rating as I don't think we would have been fawned over if they weren't worried about what we would say. I will say that the staff did seem attentive to everyone, just not the way they were with us. I really loved my steak. I got the Manhattan Strip Loin (8 oz) and it was plenty big. I asked for medium rare, and 90% of it was cooked perfect for me but the last few bites from the very center were more rare than medium. The reason the steak house gets a 3 star is because for this price, I expect to love everything. Our table ordered a bunch of side dishes to share. None wowed me. The best was the lobster mac & cheese, but only because I got a few bites of lobster. The mac & cheese, along with the other sides, were just ok. Two of our group got chicken instead of steak, and neither were very impressed. We also ordered 3 desserts to share. The concensus was that the flourless chocolate cake was just ok...it wasn't my favorite but these tend to not be my thing. Several people thought the cheesecake was heaven, but it was too airy for me and I didn't like the lemon flavor. However, I loved the banana waffle dessert. The other thing that was odd to me is the decor. Everything was pink! The lighting means you couldn't get a single decent picture in the restaurant. They do have a nice bar area (also pink lighting) and live music behind the bartenders. There was an outside patio area too, which I think I would have preferred if it wasn't 100 degrees. All in all it was a good dinner, especially for a free one. Our party of 6 spent $300 with 6 entrees (all on the less expensive end of the options), 8 sides, 4 desserts, a few sodas and one glass of wine. But if I was going to really spend this amount of money myself, I would probably try someplace else. read more

Well, the meal was a birthday comp for my wife so it could have been worse. My wife ordered the Filet and I the rack of lamb. We both love a Caesar salad so we both ordered one. The salad was inedible. The dressing was so heavily vinegared that you literally could not eat it without going into a coughing spell. (The last few years have seen Chefs taking popular dishes and "Adding their special signature" to them. Lemon juice is the acid used in an authentic caesar dressing, not vinegar and certainly not this much. If a Chef does decide to stray far from the normal preparation of a dish he/she owes it to the customer to disclose it on the menu.) My lamb was perfect, juicy and properly seasoned. The potato gratin was delicious and my wife ate about half of it because her creamed spinach was a soupy mess with no discernable taste of spinach. Her filet was medium as ordered but this was achieved by a bare sear on one side and a lengthy char on the other. She had to cut off about a third of it and ate the rest. The prices on the menu require that the meal you are served be very good with no surprises. Service here was okay and the waiter did offer to replace our salads but we don't really like any salad other than a Caesar. If you are going to spend your own money at a steakhouse don't come here. read more

Best steakhouse! We had a celebration party in steakhouse last night. Everything is amazing. The food are super delicious. I used to order salmon all the time.!this time, I tried the chicken. Very tender. Mashed potatoes and baked sweet potatoes with homemade cream! Yum...my favorites are oyster, shrimp cocktail and crab cake. I never order a steak since I am not a red meat fan. Spend your money elsewhere! The service was horrible!! There was only 1 waitress serving the entire restaurant. 1 busser/water guy as well. Waters went unfilled for 20 minutes at a time. Drinks were forgotten or wrong. For how expensive this steakhouse is, my party should have received so much better service. Good thing we weren't in a hurry because it took over 2 hrs. Most of the steaks at our table were over cooked. The jumbo shrimp was overcooked and tough to eat. The mashed potato "smear" on the plates is unnecessary. The menu says steaks come with mashed potatoes or asparagus. Makes a person think those are sides but rather they are a garnishment. The only good thing about this experience is that the bread was good. Will never be returning to spend my money here when you can go to another steakhouse and receive exceptional service and food!! read more

My husband, son, his girlfriend and I were at 1904 on Sunday 4/30 celebrating my birthday. We had a lot of choices in restaurants and casinos and it was a toss up between 1094 Steak House and Charlie Gittos at Hollywood. We had been to 1904 before and had very good food, so we selected 1904 and River City Casino. Let me start by saying Mary, our server, was very good and we enjoyed her - this review is no reflection on her at all it's all about the food! And we were full paying guests, not using comps. My husband had French onion soup that tasted like all the bouillon in the kitchen was dumped into the bowl. His salmon and fava beans were uncooked - the beans were not soft and the dish so over seasoned with what tasted like sage, that he did not eat the beans at all - truly disgusting! I asked him to send it back but he did not want to make everyone wait. The rest of us has steak. Two fillets that were nicely cooked but served with a horrible spoonful of a tomato jelly (disgusting). The presentation is awful. We ordered baked potatoes and although it seems strange to complain about a baked potato - they were gigantic and literally slopped with sour cream. We were laughing at the ridiculous size! My son has the ribeye steak and enjoyed it although it was not a melt in your mouth steak. Not a fine dining experience! Dinner was disappointing and overpriced for the quality and presentation of the food! All in all I would say that fine dining is all about well prepared and presented food and you have a expectation of quality every time. If you can't expect that, you don't go back. I would highly recommend choosing a different restaurant - and would suggest that 1904 get a Chef and Quality Control person and perhaps a good manager! Poor Service and Customer Service My husband and I had a great night playing the slots tonight. We actually won $1000.00, which we've never done before. To celebrate we went to 1904 Steak House and the evening went downhill quickly. The hostess was upset because we didn't know we had to wait to be seated. There was a hand written sign at the front desk, but it wasn't easy to see or read. She did end up stating that no one seemed to see it. Brendan was our waiter and seated us quickly. There was only one other gentleman in the restaurant who happened to be seated near us. We were asked if we wanted to order wine and given a wine list. After selecting a bottle and deciding what we were going to order, Brendan brought one wine glass to the table. When I explained we ordered a bottle and needed two glasses, Brendan let us know that they couldn't give my husband a glass. No reason given. We then canceled our order and started to leave when the gentleman sitting next to us asked us what that was all about. He said he had never seen anything like that. This is quite upsetting and disappointing. No explanation at all, just we can't serve your husband. We have no idea what it was all about. The bartender was excellent. The food was horrible. The food was not served hot nor was it cooked thoroughly. The lobster tempura was uncooked. It had a good flavor with wasabi and a few slices of pickled carrots, but not good at all. The chargrilled oysters were disgusting. They were served over rock salt and not even seasoned. When I think of 1904, I think of a simpler time. A time when you could pay the town doctor in sacks of potatoes. A time when the living wage was 22 cents an hour. A time when most everyone died of tuberculosis. And they were grateful for it. But at the 1904 Steak House, the leading cause of death is stroke. Because you're gonna have one when you see these prices. Now in 1904, a girl like me would have been sold for parts. I am not a member of upper society, so while I am aware that there are restaurants that sell steaks for $50 a piece, I've never been allowed in one. Upon entering this establishment, it was clear that the high entree prices are in place to subsidize the 40 chandeliers strewn throughout the 1904 Steak House. I did appreciate being seated in one of those crescent shaped half-booths where I can see anyone approaching, Scarface style. This restaurant is in a casino, and if someone's coming for a pinky or a baby toe, they're going to have to work for it. Clear view of my enemies aside, I just wasn't impressed by this place. In one serious paragraph, here's why this place isn't worth it: $50 steaks aren't served with anything. This would be OK if the meat itself or the sides were of a quality that deserved the price tag, but nothing was outstanding. Wines by the glass are very limited and more marked up than usual. Raw oysters were served with the mignonette already on them, which is the biggest first world problem I've ever verbalized. This place is expensive just to be expensive. If you have comps or the corporate card, go nuts I guess. Otherwise you're just a sucker. Also, don't even ask. There's no World's Fair replica ferris wheel. Ridiculous. read more

We had asked for a bottle of wine that we had one glass from and were told that was the last bottle and we would have to order something different. I had the scallops which were good - the risotto was just okay. The steaks that we had received were over cooked. I would not recommend trying this place. The worst part is the smoke smell from the casino - it was horrible! It's difficult to have a nice dining experience with that smell. There are much better steakhouses in Saint Louis. read more

First of all, this place is expensive. My girlfriend and I wanted a nice night out so we decided to splurge a bit. We both appreciate a great steak and our hopes were high after seeing all the awards posted on their website. We made a reservation on a Saturday night and arrived a bit early. To our surprise, there was no wait and we were seated immediately. In retrospect, no wait and plenty of vacant tables (at least half of the restaurant) on a Saturday night should have been a sign. I ordered the $40 22oz Cowboy Ribeye (med-rare) and a baked potato. G/F ordered the $35 8oz Filet (med-rare), mashed potatoes, and a caesar salad. The salad arrived 20-25 minutes after ordering. I was actually starting to think the server forgot about it when it finally showed up. An HOUR after ordering, the steaks and potatoes arrived. Both steaks were well-done with maybe a hint of pink in some places. Our server agreed they were completely wrong, took them back, and said he'd have replacements out soon. About 15 minutes later, two new steaks showed up. They were cooked closer to correctly (more rare than med-rare), but the flavor of both was... well, there basically was no flavor to speak of. The filet was chock full of sinewy, silver-skin throughout and the ribeye was chewy and flavorless. My g/f will never complain and said her filet was "OK." I tried it. It wasn't. I'm typically not one to critique too harshly. I was a server in a casual dining restaurant for six years and I've seen picky people. I'm not one of them. I would have been disappointed in these steaks if they were $12 at some cheapo chain restaurant. The fact that an "award winning" place that calls itself a steakhouse and charges $40-$60 a la carte for a piece of meat would serve what we got is pathetic. If you're going to brag all over your menu about your "own brand of hand-cut and hand-selected beef, signature spice blend," and "1600 degree radiant broilers," you'd damn well better be able to season and cook a freaking steak. read more

Amazing dining experience. We received a free Valentines Dinner at 1904 on Saturday night. It had a limited but exquisite menu. We started with apps of artichoke/crab dip and mussels with pomme frites (fancy name for french tries) with a truffle butter. Both were very yummy. Who would think to pair mussels and fries? The second course was salad or soup. We both chose the lobster bisque. It was flavorful but had no lobster pieces in it and was thin compared to other bisques that i have had. Liked it but three of five stars. For our third course we had the surf and turf ( KC strip & lobster tail) both done to perfection. The lobster was a little dry and the steak was slightly over the medium ordered. I ordered the lamb osso bucco over risotto. It was very tender and flavorful. For dessert we had a pair of delectable delicacy. A chocolate torte with a raspberry sauce and and whipped cream and a white chocolate dipped strawberry. Not a great fan of white chocolate but it worked well with the strawberry. The torte was the ideal end to a very good meal We allowed the manager to pair the wine with our meals. They did a great job on the wine selection. The service was exceptional and thorough without being invasive. I cannot speak to the cost to value of the meal since this was free. Im not sure how 1904 won the RFT's Best Steakhouse award. I dined at the restaurant last night and did not think the restaurant exceeds the food quality of other steak houses in the Metro Area. That being said, the service was pretty darn good. The menu offers the ability to choose a steak, all dry aged for 45 days, or a flight of steaks. Flights offer the option to purchase either the large cut or a smaller cut. Flights also come with a side and a sauce. Sauces cost between $3 and $5 when ordered ala cart. I noticed that the NY Strip Steak flight (large cut) cost $1 less than the same cut ordered outside of the flight. The flight also comes with truffle-Parmesan fries and herb butter. If you like fries and herb butter, save the $1 and get a $3 sauce for free along with a side. I ordered the 26oz Porterhouse ($60) with the baby iceberg wedge salad ($7) and a side of the Lobster Mac and Cheese ($7). The salad was good, but was topped with overcooked bacon slices. The steak was tender and delicious. The lobster mac and cheese was like playing a game of Where's Waldo. I never found the lobster. Other sides ordered included mashed potatoes ($7) which were a bit thin for our liking, and crispy Brussels sprouts. The sprouts are flash friend and then mixed with bacon and balsamic vinegar. They were hands down the best side ordered. Our server was excellent, forthcoming with information and was pretty honest. The dinner ended with a complimentary mini dessert for each diner. Ours included cheese cake, creme brulee, chocolate cake, and bananas foster. All of the deserts were pretty good. read more

We stopped in to 1904 Steak House as a last minute decision while leaving the casino and are certainly glad we did! Our experience was wonderful from beginning to end. Shawn our server could not have been any better with the way he told us about the menu, gave us his favorite choices and general service throughout our meal. And an incredible meal it was. We started by sharing a wedge salad. When it arrived they had separated it onto two plates and really did not look like a split salad! It was more than enough with very good flavor from the blue cheese. The bacon had a nice smokey taste. The salad came chilled as it should be. The bread served before our meal was excellent too. My husband and I both ordered the dry aged bone in filet. Both of ours were cooked perfect to order and certainly one of the best filets we have experienced. We also ordered mashed potatoes and fried green tomatoes as a side. Both were wonderful. The fried tomatoes were firm, with a light crispy batter and great flavor. We rate restaurants by whether we feel it is worthy for another visit. Well we will return and will be telling all of our friends about this excellent steak house. It is absolutely worth it! I hope tonight was a fluke. I didn't get specials explained, I ordered my steak medium and it was brown all the way through, chewy and overly fatty. The creamed spinach was good as was the bread but with a bad steak, the whole experience was bad. Better luck next time I hope if I return.
