First time trying J Gilbert's and I am so glad my boyfriend suggested this place last minute. We were looking for a place to go for NYE and luckily, we got a reservation, day of, at 7:45pm. For starters, we ordered the crab bisque, the caeser salad, and the lobster risotto. The soup was absolutely delicious and it was like a flavor bomb in your mouth after each bite. I had high hopes for the lobster risotto but next time we may skip this. I was hoping it would be more creamy and out of this world, but it was just mid. For entrees, my boyfriend and I both got the center cut filet with poblano au gratin potatoes and creamed corn with bacon. We were raving about how yummy everything was in between bites!! And to finish, we ordered our favorite dessert, crème brûlée. Lastly, I wanna shout out the bartender.. my Negroni was perfect, so of course, I had to order another. And Katherine, our server, was great as well. Thanks for being a part of our NYE and the will be sure to stop in to celebrate other occasions with J Gilbert's.

Stopped in after a long day of Christmas shopping at the mall where this location is at. Normally they have happy hour specials if you sit at the bar, but we were told they couldn't offer it to us as it was ending in a few minutes so we ordered off the regular menu instead which did not disappoint. Here's what we each ordered: 1) Wagyu Burger with asparagus 2) Prime Rib with baked potato and asparagus 3) BBQ Ribs with fries Like 90% of our meals there, it was great. I think I've only had two things there in the past we didn't like. One time the scallops still had pieces of sand and grit lingering with every bite and another time was an undercooked steak and bisque soup that tasted curdled. Their tea is always fresh and the selection of alcohol beverages including the smoked old fashion is amazing. Joey is usually our waiter and does a great job as he's been there for probably 10 plus years. The manager is usually very good about making his rounds to check on the guests. This visit he missed us, but it's not to be expected each time. My father was with us on this visit and had never dined there before. He said it was the best prime rib he'd had to date and my burger was delicious. The asparagus was sautéed just right with perfect seasoning, I could eat an entire plate full. Our only disappointment this visit was the bread service wasn't warm like usual tasted kind of old/stale and the amount of asparagus on my plate versus my father's was different. He got less than I did and his stalks were kind of thinner than mine, but still tasty. Can't wait for our next visit!!!

Made a reservation online for our anniversary. We were seated quickly. Love the decor and music choices. Got a couple cocktails... just average nothing fancy. We got the pre fix menu came with 3 courses. I got the lobster bisque, sirloin and crème brûlée. The server was great but he did get my husband order wrong... it was no big deal. My steak wasn't medium rare like I asked... it was medium so to me that's a bit tough. Not the best but not also the worst upscale/steak restaurant.

My birthday celebration (#68:) has been stupendous. I chose this, one of my favorite West County places, for dinner and had a pretty great experience. I love the ambiance of this restaurant. It's beautiful, quiet and relaxing. Our server, Raven, was awesome. To start, we chose a beautiful white wine, Conundrum, which presented with a very refreshing, multi fruit mix with a balanced finish. This would be a great wine to end a stressful day, relaxing on the patio, to erase the heaviness of the day. We chose the seafood sampler for our starter. It included oysters on the half, crab legs, lobster and shrimp, accompanied with delicious sauces. We shared the house salad, also delish. For our mains, my husband ordered the prime rib, which was excellently prepared and I ordered the off menu halibut. Unfortunately, the halibut was taken beyond the limit with the cook which was a bit disappointing. On the flip side, when I brought this to Raven's attention, she immediately spoke to Chef and I was able to get a dish that was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. The halibut was accompanied by baby bellas and gnocchi that were delicious and the beurre blanc was so tasty! We ended our dinner with a beautiful Graham 10 year Port. Oh my!! So good. We opted to take our desserts, the cheesecake and the chocolate peanut butter pie home, to enjoy as we watched the Final Four (Illini vs UConn). In finality, I would rate our experience at 4.5 (unfortunately there is not that option with the star rating). I want to thank the GM Tripp and our server, Raven, for their attention to our experience. Overall, a great memory was made and we will return!!

I decided to venture here after work. I let the hostess know it would just be me and she offered to sit me at the bar or a table. I opted for a table since I wanted to work on my laptop. I was still seated within the bar area so it looked like my server was also helping bartend. First off, super friendly service. I was on my phone working and he dropped water and came back as soon as he saw me hang up the phone. I ordered a crab bisque soup as my starter and then got the bourbon glazed salmon. My choice of sides was broccolini and the mac and cheese. The crab bisque was delicious! It had some crab sprinkled on top. I was also dropped some bread which was warm and yummy. Came with whipped butter. My salmon was also super flavorful and delicious. The Mac and cheese was a huge portion (that side was a couple dollars extra which made sense and made it worth it). It was delicious. I'm glad a stumbled in here after a long day. Delicious food and great service. I'll definitely be back!

J Gilbert's is usually a great choice for a family event, get-together, or date! Easy to book online and a great atmosphere embedded into the West County Mall. But don't let that deter you from trying as it can stand alone on food quality. Last nights plate options were prime rib that got rave reviews, sirloin and shrimp, and filets. The wait staff is on point and very attentive. Start out with a craft cocktail - and highly recommend the lavender martini. The bread was very warm and fresh and comes with two options of butter - pastrami butter and a light whipped butter. The sides are pretty impeccable with multiple vegetarian choices along with more starchy options like my new favorite potato au gratin. The sweet creamed corn and bacon is superb as well. If you want additional flavor beyond the wood fired steaks (which are already amazing) - try the ancho chili rub. The pre-fixe meal option also is very fun to do as it gives you a soup/salad and even a dessert for a reasonable price. My only complaint was it was a bit of a miss on the quality of my filet last night which isn't typical - was a tad on the smaller side for a 6oz. But other steaks were to size! It is a bit of a darker place inside and typically they lower the lights even further in the evening, not my personal favorite but may be for others wanting more intimacy. Moderate sound levels.

Just had my favorite here, the 14 oz Ribeye and it was fabulous as usual. Cooked to med-rare perfection and delicately seasoned, it never disappoints.

From our greeting to the bill and everything in between, we loved this restaurant and will definitely add it to our "special occasions" places. Chloe was fantastic and patient since we were first timers and had a lot of questions. She was honest about food and drink ooptions I asked about and provided such a wonderful dining experience. We were celebrating our anniversary so we were gifted with a free dessert - yum! Our main entrees were delicious and the presentation was fantastic. The restaurant has dim lighting and light music playing in the background, perfect for easy to hear conversations. We will definitely be back and hope to have Chloe again.

This was an amazing meal and atmosphere, plus our service was amazing! We got the pretzel crusted onion rings as an appetizer and to be honest, this was my least favorite part of the meal. It didn't taste like anything special, just like regular onion rings. But I loved the different dipping sauces that came with it. The Caesar salad was amazing, perfect, lettuce to cheese to dressing ratio. For my meal I got the scallop risotto that was a special & this was sooo yummy and cooked perfectly. My husband felt the same about his tomahawk special. We really enjoyed the experience as a whole and will definitely be back!

Nice place for a special occasion. Definitely a pricey place but they know how to cook a steak properly. Located right at the west county mall, so parking is easy. Reservation is recommended.

The positives - the server was nice, personable and on top of drink refills. The pace she set for the meal was a good one. The bread is really good, we really enjoyed it. The place was clean, the atmosphere was good. The huge negative and the reason for only three stars is that we found the food to be mediocre at best. We ordered steaks and lobster tails. The steaks were soft and very slightly mealy. For the price of the food here I was expecting near perfect food. The lobster tails were a huge let down. I tried to take pictures but they did not turn out, it was too dark and the details did not turn out. But the tails are broiled a little and unfortunately that burned both of our lobster tails on the top. The accompanying baked potatoes were nice. Would we go back? Probably not unless someone specifically asked to go. It's too bad, we are local and would have liked a great special pace to go to.

She was clearly annoyed, but went in the back, came out and reluctantly sat us. They were plenty of open tables. They sat a table of five 20 minutes after us, so they would've been there past close anyway. She sat us at a teeny tiny table in a little stuffy side room that looks like it used to be a porch. It definitely wasn't romantic the way I was picturing this place. Our server was fine, as attentive as we needed him to be. We shared the Cajun bbq shrimp, pork chop, ribeye with bearnaise sauce, zucchini, and potatoes, salads. Overall, the food was good, but nothing compared to what I've heard people rave about over the years, so I was disappointed. I wasn't a fan of the pork chop. For being such a thick pork chop it was dry. The zucchini was slightly undercooked. Nothing really impressed. I'm glad I finally tried it but disappointed that it wasn't what I was hoping for.

My husband ordered the burger and fries and I ordered a steak. We both ordered our dishes medium but they came well done. They took my steak back and made another, but it took a long time. By the time it returned, his dish was cold. They also didn't ask if his burger was cooked right so he just ate it. My sides were green beans (good) and baked potato (just okay) and it came with a caesar salad (too much dressing). Service left some to be desired. I arrived a bit early to get a table set up. I had asked for a freestanding table as I have had hip surgery last year and sliding into a booth is not fun. I was told only the booths were available as no servers were on their shift yet for tables. Kinda strange to me but wasn't going to let that bother me. 2. The server was VERY attentive, my date actually said too attentive. Anytime the server walked by our booth, regardless of how short the time had been since the previous stop, we were asked if we needed anything. This did get a bit old as we were often involved in a discussion but again I didn't let it bother me. We both got Flo's filet, she got the smaller and I got the larger, I love steak for leftovers the next day. Both our steaks were prepared properly but my larger cut was a bit fatty and I cut that off the meat. She had a regular baked potato and said it was fine. I had the twice baked potato and I don't recommend this. It seemed overcooked, but not HOT, if that makes sense. The bacon was extra crunchy, the cheese was hard and would not pull apart, just not a good choice for a side. We both had salads and as a starter item it was as good as any other salad at a restaurant. I had sweet tea, it was very good. She had an adult beverage, I believe it was the strawberry lemonade, and said it was good. I'm not sure I would come back here as I have never gotten a bad steak from either of the 2 closest steakhouses (twisted tree and Texas Roadhouse) and I like their sides better. Rolls are amazing at Texas Roadhouse and the honey wheat loaf at Longhorn just seems to pale in comparison to those. I want places to be successful to have diversity in selecting a place to eat but not sure this time proved out. It also was NOT inexpensive for an average level steakhouse.

We almost left then but it was close to 10 (they close at 11) and stayed. The bartender, our server, was attentive. It looks like they were pretty steady and short staffed because he was running around a lot. The tables look like they could use a good deep cleaning because the decor was very dusty. My salad never came before my meal so I swapped out the salad for broccoli to eat together. The broccoli was cooked perfect. My steak was not cooked at the right temperature. I asked for medium rare but it was medium well. I didn't send it back because I was too hungry to wait They ran out of the seasoning they add to the corn but they offered to get another side. The steak was seasoned well, just not cooked right. The bread they offered was too hard. When spending money at any establishment, you should always expect great service and food quality. Just very disappointed which is why i don't expect to return any time soon.

Texas Roadhouse - This is a 6oz steak...We ate none of it, just cut it open after it was brought back from being undercooked. Still under cooked.

On 2/2/2026, I dined at Texas Roadhouse. I chose their restaurant because they were doing a benefit…read morein which all the proceeds would go to the American Tinnitus Association. The benefit was also held to honor the legacy of the restaurant's founder, Kent Taylor. The parking lot at the South Lindbergh location was somewhat difficult to navigate for two reasons: they were busy and there was still a lot of snow on the ground in the St. Louis area. My advice is to get there before the dinner rush hour. Most of my experience was positive except for the table size. If you are a party of one, you can expect to be seated in one of their small booths. The tabletop is cluttered with condiments, menus, and advertisements for specialty drinks like their mocktails. Even though they were busy, my wait for a table was less than five minutes. My server was attentive and acknowledged me within a minute of my being seated. The meal started with rolls that have a honey butter glaze on the outside. They are served with cinnamon butter. The butter itself adds to what would otherwise be an ordinary dinner roll. I ordered water and coffee. Kudos to my server for asking me if I wanted lemon with my water. That hardly ever happens. Coffee was strong, but not bitter. For my first side, I chose a house salad with Caesar dressing. I was informed that all salad dressings are made in-house. The tomatoes were fresh. They used a variety of lettuce, so it wasn't all iceberg lettuce. The croutons had just the right amount of crunch. In addition, the salad had a nice blend of shredded cheese, red cabbage, and carrots. For an appetizer, I ordered fried pickles. They were lightly battered but a little on the salty side. This is something I'm very picky about--I'd rather have other spices like pepper than salt on my food. They were still tasty. When I go back, however, I'll make it a point to order a different appetizer. The fried pickles are served with either a basic ranch dressing or a thousand island-based sauce that has some kick to it. Both are good, but I prefer the latter. I did have ample time to finish my salad before the 12-oz, Fort Worth Ribeye arrived. It was well-marbled and flavorful as advertised. I ordered it medium. My server asked me to check the steak and make sure it was how I wanted it. The steak was somewhat thin, so it's to their credit that it was cooked to perfection. The ribeye comes smothered in mushrooms and onions unless you request it otherwise. I asked for my onions on the side and that turned out to be a wise move. I also ordered a baked potato which was loaded with sour cream, butter, bacon bits, and cheese. I ordered my dessert to go. The server suggested apple pie. It comes with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. It's good, but it's also very sweet. Overall, I had an excellent meal and great service. Now, if they could just work on those small tabletops.

We were called for our seating but I was unable to tell who was seating us. It was actually awkward as so many people was walking by and none was signaling or stated to follow them. I looked back to the attended to asked who were we supposed to be following. She had to quickly scanned the area herself. When she pointed out who we were following to our table, then stated "she grabbing bread and utensils, she will be right with you." The lady did not have a pleasant face. Seemed like we were going to cause her an hassle to serve us, or she was forced to come to work. I understand that people have lives outside of work and I dont know what she have going on in her personal life. She walked us over to our seat and I kindly requested a table instead of a booth due to my mom's inability to navigate it. Needless to say, she created a scene and had attitude when I asked about a near by table. I offered to wait in the front until a table opened up although seeing some that were emptied. The MOD was kind enough to seat us at a different boothe that didn't have a step up, although that wasnt my request. I went with it nevertheless to say. Our Server: Ethan saved the night! I almost left because I hate the feeling of embarrassment or feeling like I am a bother to others. I told Ethan about our experience and he apologized. He was so soft spoken and seemed genuinely sweet. He gave us recommendations and checked on us frequently. I ordered a steak, however it was not done to my liking. Was overcooked more than I would of like and I actually didnt care for the mushrooms I added to it. I wrestled with the idea of sending it back due to earlier experience. I'm glad I brought it up with Ethan because he actually encouraged me to send it back because "he wanted me to enjoy my meal and have a great time." I'm glad I did, because the replacement was DELICIOUS! It was brought out by the manager and he waited at the table for me to cut into it to make sure it was just right. I'm glad I didn't leave because I ended up having a great time with my family and we all enjoyed our meals. The location is perfect especially if you are out shopping because it is located in a shopping center with plenty of parking!
