We stopped in to 1904 Steak House as a last minute decision while leaving the casino and are certainly glad we did! Our experience was wonderful from beginning to end. Shawn our server could not have been any better with the way he told us about the menu, gave us his favorite choices and general service throughout our meal. And an incredible meal it was. We started by sharing a wedge salad. When it arrived they had separated it onto two plates and really did not look like a split salad! It was more than enough with very good flavor from the blue cheese. The bacon had a nice smokey taste. The salad came chilled as it should be. The bread served before our meal was excellent too. My husband and I both ordered the dry aged bone in filet. Both of ours were cooked perfect to order and certainly one of the best filets we have experienced. We also ordered mashed potatoes and fried green tomatoes as a side. Both were wonderful. The fried tomatoes were firm, with a light crispy batter and great flavor. We rate restaurants by whether we feel it is worthy for another visit. Well we will return and will be telling all of our friends about this excellent steak house. It is absolutely worth it! Visiting from out of town and was recommended this restaurant. Server was very polite and attentive. We had asked for a bottle of wine that we had one glass from and were told that was the last bottle and we would have to order something different. I had the scallops which were good - the risotto was just okay. The steaks that we had received were over cooked. I would not recommend trying this place. The worst part is the smoke smell from the casino - it was horrible! It's difficult to have a nice dining experience with that smell. There are much better steakhouses in Saint Louis. read more

My advice is to save your money and go to Texas Roadhouse, you will spend about 60% less and get 90% better food. We went to this restaurant yesterday 9-23-16 at around 8pm. We were greeted by their lovely hostess and was immediately seated. The restaurant was quiet and classy. One of the wait staff cme to us and gave us iced water. We waited for our waiter who apologized for attending to us a little late because of some little spill on another table. There were 4 of us. 2 ordered the grouper, my husband ordered the meat special which was the 20 oz bone in ribeye, and i ordered their lamb chops. My friends loved the grouper but my husband and i did not like the meat. Both were extremely salty and a little bit over cooked. I am not one who would return the food when i have guests so i just ate my lamb chops and drank wine and water to wash the saltiness off. Dessert was perfect. We had heard this place was over-priced, but decided to buy a discount on living social and give it a shot. The menu is in fact pretty pricey and the quality of food is decent, but I've definitely had better quality meat. I'm giving it 3-stars because we did enjoy the experience, they offered great service and the atmosphere was nice. My husband and I decided to try out 1904 and I'm so glad that we did! My filet was cooked to perfection and was the most tender steak I've ever eaten. I got the garlic butter on it and it was just to die for. We also both got the big lobsters (they were extremely expensive) and they were the biggest and best cooked lobsters I've ever tasted! Everything was perfect except my husbands filet was way over cooked but when we brought it to our servers attention, it was removed from our bill. Joined the wife for an evening to celebrate something in order to have an excuse to try out the 1904 Steakhouse. I had previously tried the steakhouse before it closed and was opened as the 1904 Steakhouse. The ambiance of the place is still awesome. I like the set up, I like the wine cellar, I like the location. I must admit that the booth tables a quite strange. They are basically elevated love booths, which just seems strange. We got a glass of water reasonably quick, but our waiter was slow to greet us and slower to get our order. On top of it, a table near by was seated after us and was greeted by the waiter prior to our waiter greeting us. I had a beer, but mostly drank water as the wife was prego so we were unable to get a bottle of wine. There were a few times I had to wait for my water to be filled. We ate through the first helping of bread and had to ask for more. I had a T-Bone steak done medium rare. The steak was cooked correctly, which is rarely accomplished, and actually had good flavor, however it had enough gristle for me to notice and seemed like it sat around a bit before it was brought to the table, which is not acceptable when you are dropping $50 on a steak. I also had a baked potato and a caesar salad with my steak and they were both quite good. The wine list, the ambiance, the prices and the amount of employees needed to serve one table borderlines between 4 1/2 and 5 star restaurant. The service, cut of meat, and slowness make is more of a 3 star restaurant. Wait until they get the wait service fixed or until the casino picks up your tab! You are much better off heading to Dierdorf and Harts, Ritz Carlton, etc if you want to drop a bunch of cash on a meal. read more

The food great the service great (thanks Sean) my only downfall is we brought our 3 year old with us to enjoy our anniversary as a family. There was no parking so we had to use the garage meaning you have to walk around the building because kids can't walk the floor. I dropped them off and went to park After the meal security tells me they will shuttle us back to the garage this is nice I was told to go out front and they'd be right there. 30 minutes later nope we are wet and cold .I know why take a 3 year old there to eat well I wont next time but that will cut down my visits here because a place that let's kids in has 363 chances a year to serve me however I only take 2 nights a year tops not out with him so that's the reason. The lobster mac and cheese is a great side dish and the salad has good flavor, but is lacking in some of the extras it is supposed to include. My wife and I came to this restaurant after dropping our oldest daughter off for a concert last year. The decor and set up was very nice. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant. Our meal was just not good. The salad was good but face it, it is hard to mess up a caesar salad. Our wine was good. The bread was tasty. I ordered halibut and my wife had the filet mignon. Her steak was overdone and a little stringy. It almost made me think that it was a different steak, like a sirloin only cut in a circle. My "halibut" was as dry as the Sahara desert. It takes a lot for me to send back food but it was not good at all. The rice pilaf was also very bland. It reminded me of a Lipton's rice side you would prepare at home only doctor it up with some spices. When the manager brought out the second filet of halibut, it was exactly the same, dry and inedible. I think that like my wife's steak, this was not halibut but maybe a filet of Cod or other inexpensive fish. It was unfortunate because halibut is usually very good and I was looking forward to it when I saw it on the menu. Overall, I was not impressed with the food. Flew in from Detroit to see a Three Dog Night performance at River City Casino. Stopped by 1904 Steakhouse for dinner and it turned out to be a superb choice. Steaks were out of this world. I am sending a new review based on my most recent visit in November. My original review was in October and not favorable as to service, but the food was good. Apparently there had been an unforeseen staff shortage. The manager communicated with us, and we returned to the 1904. Glad we did. We had great service from Mario and Autum ( sorry not sure Autum is correct). Any future visit we will request Mario's section. The food has always been great any time we have eaten there. My second experience dining here, both were for my Birthday, 11/18. My sons were not pleased on either occasions, but I wanted to try the Sunset Menu. My son asked for medium rare, his steak, and mind were tough, but the waiter stated that it was a cheap cut of beef, what did he expect. My son asked that his meal be removed from his bill. If the beef is that cheap and tough, why put it one the menu. My granddaughters enjoyed the chicken, the chocolate cake was excellent. The restaurant is not family friendly, my 5 year old grandson was able to eat the chicken. My wife and I went here to celebrate our anniversary. I knew this place was pricey to say the least, but chose it anyway. When I made the reservations through Open Table reservations, they ask what the occasions was and I told them that it was for our anniversary dinner. ONLY the hostess that seated us acknowledge that it was our anniversary. My wife ordered a 6oz filet and I ordered an 8oz filet. When we ask what came with it, thinking we would be able to pick our sides, he replied "nothing comes with it, your sides are extra". I ask about a cocktail, and was told that I could order any cocktail that I wanted except for a frozen drink. WHAT, I CAN'T GET A FROZEN DRINK! Waiter said that they do not serve frozen drinks. When our steaks got there, they was so small that it did not even cover a fifth of the plate. As we was eating, the people across the room got so loud, that we could not enjoy our meal. We was ask if we wanted a dessert, I informed our waiter that when I made our reservations through Open Table, that I had indicated that we was there for anniversary and ask if we got a free dessert, and he seemed shocked that I would even ask a question like that. We ordered cheese cake anyway with 2 forks. When he came back with it, it had a single birthday candle on it. We could have went to a different steak house for half the price with sides included and I could have gotten my frozen drink. I WILL NEVER AND I REPEAT NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS STEAK HOUSE EVER AGAIN. Extremely OVERPRICED for what we got. We had to pay for everything we ordered. Surprised we was not charged for our water. Ate here last night with the entire family as part of an early Father's Day celebration. This place is located inside the River City Casino. It's an upscale steakhouse. We mostly picked this place because my parents had a comp, but also because we knew it wouldn't be too busy. Our reservation was at 5:30, and they seated our party of 8 in one of their private rooms in the back. The room was nice and quiet, although they had the air cranked way down, so most of us were very cold. It got better as dinner went on, but was still an annoyance. For my meal, I started off with a Caesar salad, which was very bland and was loaded down with dressing. The croutons were good, but everything else in the salad was very "meh". I ordered the 8 oz filet topped with blue cheese, and it was outstanding. The steaks here are quite good, but they are expensive, so if you're paying on your own dime you might not feel as if you are getting equal value. For my side I got the mac and cheese, which was very good as well. Others ordered the au gratin potatoes as their side. I tried them, but found the flavor of onion to be a bit overpowering. That said, the others seemed to really like them. I almost forgot to mention the bread. Be sure to try some as it is very tasty. Finally, for dessert I ordered some type of chocolate mousse bomb. It was very chocolaty. I ate it all, so I can't say it was bad. :) All in all, this place is good if you have a comp, but if you're paying on your own dime you'll probably feel a bit slighted. If you come on your own dime, skip the salad and just get the steak and a side. read more

Horrible experience on Christmas Day 2014. First of all the server was not friendly, she barely said "hello" after we were seated. I attempted to break the ice and cheerfully said "merry christmas" she responded half-heartendly. We were party of six. Three ordered steak and all three steaks were grossly underscooked. The server took the plates back to the kitchen as she was taking the plates my husband and mom told the server they wanted the cut portions steak and fried green tomatos on their plates returned with the meal. The general manger approached our table and stated " I see your plates were returned to the kitchen is there a problem? " My husband explained the steaks were undercooked. As my husband was talking to the manager, the server returned the plates however the fried green tomatos and cut portions of steak were GONE!! The cook threw the steak portions and tomatoes away!! The server looked stunned as my husband asked where's my steak portions, my mom said what happened to my fried green tomatoes. I stated the lobster mac and cheese was bland, dry and totally different than when I had this dish on December 5, 2015. I came back just for the lobster mac and chesse and it was disgusting awful! The general manager told my husband he could flash cook the steak and my husband could take it home and finish cooking it - if he liked. OMG, take the steak home and finish cooking it. We didnt want to cook that's why chose to go out to dinner. The general manager provided my mom a new order of fried green tomatoes. My sister and I ordered the roasted chicken which was very bland and lacked any type of flavor. As I mentioned the lobster mac and cheese was a total disappointment from our previous experience at the restaurant just a few weeks earlier. My daughter and i went and we are not seafood people. I got something of the cheap menu, that the waiter had to go find one and she got something off the expensive one. Our waiter was attentive in the beginning until some loud mouth woman and her husband who were regulars came in. They talked about everything under the sun, and she was 3 tables away. My daughter had ordered desert and we were done with the main course a good 15 minutes before another man who was taking away our dishes ask us about desert, which was ordered same time as the main meal. He had to tear our waiter away from his "friends". I truly did not want to leave a tip at all but i did 15% of my bill. My steak also was medium rare not medium well. No i did not want to send it back to be spit on! read more
