The 1909 Burger was cooked just to my liking and included fries that were crispy and tasty--just perfect. Great bar with a prime location! Stopped by for a quick bite and drink mid-morning while on vacation. It was quite warm, but they had misters and fans running to keep us all cool, which was a great touch. The place was pretty full, but a walk in was welcome. After being seated, we all glanced over the menu and decided on our food. Honestly everything we got was quite good and pricing was as expected for a touristy area, so that is something to consider, but portions were quite large. Service was quick and nice, which is always nice. Considering it was quick stop to get some food before more wine tasting, I'd say it was a solid four out of five and I would happily return in the future! We were really disappointed with our experience. I've given this restaurant a 5-star review in the past, which makes this visit especially unfortunate. While the food was still great, the overall experience felt closer to a 2-star evening due to how rushed we felt. They don't take reservations unless your party is 8 or more, which already makes things difficult. I'm visiting from out of town and was meeting up with a friend I hadn't seen in two years, so this was meant to be a meaningful, relaxed night. We put our name down at 6:57pm and were seated at 7:17pm, only to be told we had the table until 8:25pm. I've celebrated special occasions here before, so being limited to barely over an hour felt unreasonable. I have worked in customer service in restaurants before and understand the logistics of seating and reservations; however, this felt excessive and poorly handled. We had hoped to enjoy drinks, appetizers, entrees, and dessert, but instead felt rushed the entire time. At 8:28pm, when our server took our dessert order, we were reminded again that another reservation had been scheduled for 8:25pm while being told to "enjoy your ice cream." That level of pressure took away from what should have been an enjoyable and meaningful evening. Unfortunately, this experience makes me reconsider returning. read more

Yesterday We had the most amazing day Downtown Temecula California! It was like stepping back into times of the old west. We chose 1909 Restaurant/Tavern Bar to have lunch because of its unique location and proximity on Front Street. It is a giant Barn like establishment with lots of flare and great music, and a very remarkable bar staff with great skills and any cocktail you can imagine and more. The staff was delightful and friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and cocktails. Our waitress was friendly and helpful with food knowledge. I tried the Cilantro Lime Fish Tacos with French Fries and a refreshing cocktail their 1909 Punch with an extra shot! It was delicious and the lime sauce was very tasty on the tacos. My husband tried their famous 1909 Double Smash Cheeseburger with fries yummy. The atmosphere was amazing and the music was jamming and I loved that all are welcome even four legged friends and they had a menu for the pets too which I thought was cute. This was a fun and lively place. It's a great location near the center of Front Street. The staff was super nice and fun. The food and drink menus offer something for everyone. The restaurant offers seating at the bar, tables in the bar area, and two outdoor patios. We sat on the street side patio. It's covered and the restaurant has shades to protect from the sun or wind. The entire restaurant is happening so you'll be happy wherever you are seated. Our bartender was Dave and our waiter was Hunter. Both were great guys. The drink menu was fun, but they offer great beers choices too. We got a lager, a blonde, lazy outlaw, Mac's mule, and stagecoach smoke. All were really good and unique. For food we got fries, shrimp ceviche, mussels, chicken tortilla soup, ahi tartare, birria tacos, and chicken risotto. Everything was great. The birria tacos were highly recommended. It's a popular dish. The servings were of good size. We ended up sharing a lot of the dishes, to get variety the soup was large enough for four of us to share, amongst all the other food. When visiting on a Thursday morning around 10:15, there was no wait! No shocker there lol but it started getting poppin around noon and thereafter. This was my first time in Temecula old town and I had been recommended this brunch spot by a few people. I usually gravitate towards the sweeter stuff for breakfast, such as French toast or pancakes. Staying in town for business the hotel gave me a couple recommendations 1909 was one. Parking is a little crowded in old town, but there was a spot right out front, I took it as a sign. From the start staff were super friendly and helpful. My server Jordan was great, got me a drink fast and helped me decide. I was going with either a salad and a cup of chili. Jordan told me they could do a half salad of their cranberry apple sold! Then with a small salad I opted for the bowl of chili and cornbread. The place has a cool ambiance and the food smells wonderful. My food came quickly. The salad was perfect and just the right amount, very tasty. The chili was a bit different than Texas chili, but very good full of steak and bacon. A bowl is a lot of food, although warned it's slight spicy it was very slight. We headed to Old Towne Temecula for some good grub following our annual Christmas Ugly Sweater party the night before. Brunch is always great the following day. We're not from these parts so it was great the in-laws took us to Old Towne Temecula! 1909 had a long wait if you arrive for brunch at 11:30. They can text you so if you'd like to shop somewhere close by, it was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and courteous. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We opted to sit outdoors and they have awesome heaters out there, too. They weren't the normal stainless steel propane heaters. They were long and sat above your head on the beams. If there's sunlight beaming in, they have shades to relieve your back and umbrellas they can open to provide plenty of shade. Since it was the holiday season, they had many drink specials such as Shots for Tots and other festive cocktails. They won't disappoint. They had a variety of ethnic dishes to choose from including charcuterie to Mexican, Italian, American and Asian. Their cocktail menu is extensive as well. They even have a menu for your four legged friends! I love this place! 1909 is the PERFECT place for large parties and gatherings. The ambiance is just another reason to visit. The foodservers were incredibly attentive and had awesome attitudes for Sunday brunch folks. Definitely a great place to frequent after work or for gatherings! When we first got seated, our spot was a bit drafty but our waiter kindly moved us to a better spot. The outdoor heated was covered and heated, which was nice since it's been a bit rainy and cold. I ordered the breakfast pasta carbonara and it was good but for my taste, became a bit too much after a while. BUT STILL GOOD. Been here a few times for work meetings so it is always fun. Drinks and cocktails are great just on the slow side. They make an excellent old fashion with just the right amount of bitters and smoke. Some highlights are the Korean fried chicken is my fav app , pass on the empanadas and the mussels are tasty just not sure why they are so tiny. Ribeye with grilled seasonal veggies was very tasty and tender with a nice char on the outside. My only gripe is that at this price point it should be at least an inch thick which this just not . They didn't really have any heater (that we could see) so it was quite chilly. We definitely should've waited for indoor seating! The menu looked amazing and there was 4-5 different brunch entrees that I was torn between. I ended up getting the croque madame and my husband got the birria hash. Both needed salt at the very least...they were extremely bland and the birria hash had a consume that tasted more akin to barbecue sauce. Not bad, just a little off.. Brunching in Temecula in 90 degree weather felt like dining in a convention oven. The saving grace was the cold bottomless mimosas and the life saving misters gently keeping us cool as we sat in the patio. After a few drinks, our gossip was hotter than the weather.
