This review, like most of mine admittedly, is long over due, but here it is. My husband and I love this place for brunch. We're normally the couple that sits at the bar, but we like to do the unlimited mimosas, and they don't do them at the bar, so we usually just ask for one of the tables in that area. Pro tip, bring a jacket if you get cold easily, it gets breezy in there. The hostess stand is always filled with a least 2 staff members and they're always smiling and seem happy, even though it's super early in the morning. Did I mention we're the little old people who are usually the first ones in a restaurant? Staff members are always great. They get busy, but never rush you, keep your champagne glasses full, and have amazing attitudes. This is my favorite place for breakfast in Temecula. I'm not a big early morning food consumer, but the croque Madame? It's one of the best things I've ordered at any restaurant. Im sure I don't want to know the calorie count of just the butter, buts its so worth it. We also love the shrimp and crab empanadas, deviled eggs, and the hash, but the Madame steals the show, and most of the room in my belly. I can't comment on any of the lunch/dinner options because I don't think we've ever stayed later than 11am:). If you're looking for a fun brunch spot with mimosas, this is your spot. read more

Overall, it was a nice place for a meal on a Monday at 430p. The hostess was nice, we were seated quickly at the hightop area, and the food was decent. I had the Double Prime Smash Burger (juicy!) and hubs had the Cast Iron Ribeye (vegetables were not great). And sadly the powder/rub on my fries (I don't remember the flavor, I think honey garlic) was terrible - just straight powder that you choke on each bite, like it was added when the fries weren't fresh out of the fryer. First time trying 1909 for Sunday brunch. We sat in the patio area close to the street, it was pretty chilly walking there but they had the heaters on which was awesome. Host and servers were extremely helpful. They refilled and gave us generous amount of water. When the food came out it looked amazing and fresh, the only downside for me is it needed more seasoning. I used the salt and pepper shakers at the table for my food selection. The drinks were very good, we opted with bloody Mary's and the carajillo especially. Came here trying to get a quick bit to eat on out way to a winery. They sat us quickly and even though it was cold outside, the outdoor area had heaters that were more than sufficient for keeping us warm. It was a little windy and we lost song napkins during out meal but it didn't effect us too much. We ordered a coffee and waters to drink, crab and shrimp empenadas and carnival chilaquiles. The coffee was served in a glass mug that didn't keep the heat in for very long, so that combined with the wing made for a Cole coffee in under 10 minutes. The way was fresh how ever when I took a drink out of the straw that was already inside of my glass of water, it tasted salty.. I think the bartender might have not cleaned their hands before.. the server noticed my face when I took a drink and was quick to bring me a new glass.. The crab and shrimp empenadas were made from a pastry dough that bubble after they deep fried it which was pretty good. The crab and shrimp filling definitely left something to be desired.. it didn't have much flavor nor did the corn relish and chimichurri sauce on top.. The carnita chilaquiles were made with very tender carnitas the tortilla chips weren't too hard and the salsa had soaked into them perfectly making them enjoyable to eat, however the salsa also lacked flavor. The Puerto Nuevo Style Lobster was amazing! I also had some wonderful oysters with all the fixins! First time here but I'll be coming back. The wait staff here very friendly and attentive. And we also went to Longhorn Steakhouse in Redlands and also shared a ribeye, appetizer, and just a water and soda and total was $54. Worth the wait. We met people here in a Sunday for brunch. Our plan: drop off 1 person to get on the wait list (they estimated 45-60 minute wait). Kill some time finding parking, explore cute stores nearby. Our wait only ended up being 30 minutes. We got seated and put drink orders In quickly. We had a large party so I contacted the reservation staff ahead of time and they were able to get me a table thankfully! Good thing too, as this spot seems to be very popular! - PARKING - We came during a culture festival so it was super busy throughout all the streets, including all parking lots! We ended up parking in a neighboring lot and had to pay. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Our large table was right in the center of the restaurant, and was a high top. It was a bit squished so if a waiter was coming by with food, you had to shimmy in between people's chairs to let them by. It was also very dark inside but they later opened up the doors more so we could see a bit better. It took a little bit for us to get all our orders in, but once we did, the food came out fairly quick considering we had a large party. It was hard to flag down our waitress once we were done again though, so we did wait to pay the check. - FOOD - Everyone seemed to be happy with their food! I got the following to share: - Fried Deviled Eggs: Exactly what it sounds like! Tasty bites that were easy to eat. - Empanadas: These were SO good!!! The crab & shrimp empanadas were the highlight of dinner and were so delicious we would come back just for that! All the food we ordered was great and we all enjoyed the meal (probably just wouldn't order the cauliflower again). We came on a Friday night and waited about an hour for a table. Stopped in last night 12/12 around 5:30. I am super disappointed with this visit to 1909. It's been awhile since I've visited and usually the food is usually good. However this time, I ordered 2 drinks and 2 appetizers but one was for my meal. The two drinks I ordered were the Melikalikimaka (alcoholic) & Jingle Juice (non-alcoholic). They were both not good. The jingle juice just tasted like soda water with a squirt of lemon juice. The appetizers I got were the shrimp and crab empanadas and the birria tacos. The empanadas were good but that's it. The birria tacos had absolutely no flavor on their own and the consume also had absolutely zero flavor, it was just a cup of oil. My friend ordered them too and hers was the same. We were trying to put salt and use all the lime but it was very difficult to eat. We mostly just finished it because of the price. After letting our waitress know they tried to "stir the consume" but it did little to improve. Also didn't receive any type of break on our bill with how dissatisfied we were with the food. So with this, I can say I will probably no longer be visiting 1909. For just my items it was $67 and my friends bills were about the same. For the price, I would have hoped to experience what we had before but it was really disappointing. read more

The servers were very attentive, making sure we were able to order whenever needed. We ordered two appetizers: Burris tacos and the Empanadas. They took a little while to be served, probably 20 minutes or so. But when they came out, they were absolutely amazing!! For a Monday night in late November this place was busy inside and out. We were still able to be seated immediately (party of 2) outside on the nicely heated covered patio. There was one waitress covering a rather large portion of the patio, so service was a little slower than usual, but she was doing great considering. She was pleasant and helpful with ordering food and drinks, and everything was served freshly prepared. We started with the shrimp and chorizo which had such a smooth gravy, and juicy shrimp! The toasted baguettes were perfect when dipped or covered in sauce. I would definitely recommend this starter on a cool evening. I had the fish tacos, which were piled high with fresh cabbage, chopped tomatoes and typical "crema." Paired with the crunchy, flaky fish, it was a good plate. I could have used some salsa to slice it up, but otherwise, no complaints. To drink I had a smoked old fashioned, and it was pretty good. I could taste the smoke, and the woodford reserve is always a pleasure. I head the red sangria was also quite enjoyable. I'll definitely eat here again in the future. read more

Okay so I met a friend of mine here because he recommended it and I am always down to try new food. Although I'm a foodie i tend to go for the muscle building meal and ordered the steak and eggs. My friend had the empanadas which he downed them so im going to say they were very good. And also he had the chilaquilles which he said were good but did not give him that same feel from other places he's had it. Where I was super disappointed was their Peach Cobbler...it should not be named cobbler. Maybe like an open faced pie. Im used to having some crispy crunch in my cobbler and this was like fruit sitting in juice. Also the ice cream had hair in it, so it was appreciated that they removed it from the bill. When it came to our server Edna, she was phenomenal when it came to providing dri k recommendations. It was a Saturday brunch hour so quick service was not to be expected. It would take a moment for her to come back and catch up but her personality top notch because she did provide a warning for the cobbler. It was worth a shot. I'm baffled as to how this place is so packed on weekends. Perhaps it's because it's the only restaurant in the Main Street that's open late. The servers were great! But the food was a 2/10. I suspected it wouldn't ve good because the menu is all over the place from Korean to Mexican carnitas to Italian pasta.
