The bruschetta was absolutely delicious- thick tomato slice, fresh basil, lots of melts provolone cheese, a sweet balsamic glaze all on a crispy piece of Italian bread. I was not expecting good NY style pizza in this area, but Yelp reviews led me here so we gave it a try. It's a winner! Pizza was hand tossed, fast, with a great sauce and cheese mix. Tasted exactly like it was supposed to. 8 slice large pie was plenty of food. Could have been a little larger for that authentic NY/NJ sized pie, but for some reason that is tough to find these days. Everybody makes them small enough to fit in those rigid cardboard takeout boxes I guess. Got two salads which were both very good. House salad is large (good greens) at $6.99 and the Festival salad ($8.99) is a party! It comes with feta, artichokes, greek olives, good greens and then a pile of hot shrimp, chicken and french fries to throw on top. Awesome. Saw some wings there that looked legit as well. Crisp on the outside with an authentic buffalo sauce. Only thing this place is missing is a beer tap! Give it a try. It's not fancy inside but it's fast and friendly. I'd trust anything on the menu after the handful of items I saw. read more

First time i cane hear aside from getting our order wrong (they gave us a cheese pizza instead of a white pizza) the pizzas were fantastic (after the white pizza was made). Since then our past 5 orders we've had issues with our order being wrong all but one time and the food quality has been very inconsistent. My family decided we've given it its last chance when we got a pizza that looked like it had the toppings thrown on in fist fulls, piles of greasy onions on the pizza and pepperoni staked 5 deep and other parts areas of plane cheese. There is better pizza in the area. If you're lucky you might hit them on a good day/cook, so it can still be worth giving a try if they get their act together. Their garlic knots are pretty solid and i will say they have one of the better pizza sauces I've had but that doesnt make much ground with the rest. read more

I have visited1978 3 times. The first time they had a new oven. The pizza tasted like a new oven burning. I complained. No refund offered. The second time it was just for a slice. I love NY Pizza but having spent time in NY and Boston but the cheese was translucent and the sauce was unpleasant. I keep reading all of these good reviews so I decided to try it again. After watching the cashier video chatting with someone and waiting for five minutes I almost left. I stayed and ordered a slice of pepperoni and a bottle of water. I could see there were three slices on a tray but none were pepperoni. The guy grabs the yellowy slice and sneaks out of my view to put the pepperoni on the pizza. To make it looked like he was doing his job he leaves the pizza in for at least 10 minutes. I get the slice. Too hot to east so I cut it with a knife and fork. It would cut. The bottom was black. It was a hard black triangle that probably could be used as a deadly weapon. They don't care. The cashier remained on that video call the whole time. To say the least I will not make a 4th mistake. read more

In the overly expensive area of Severna Park and surrounding areas, 1978 NY Pizza offers good pizza, very good Chicken Parm Heros (or subs as some people like to call them), for comparatively good prices. Their large Cheese Pizza on sale for 9.99 on Mondays and Tuesdays, is also terrific. That is better than Costco (which is pretty decent), and it is as good as much of the pizza I've had living in NYC. read more

The pizza is really good, and the garlic knots are to die for. So why only 3 stars? We've ordered take away from here 4 or 5 times, and literally every time they get the order wrong. And not just a little wrong - we usually order a white pizza, and instead of that we'll walk out with plain cheese. I always check when I get back to my car so the problem get rectified, but this happens 100% of the time. It almost seems like they're trying to pull a fast one by giving us the wrong order - last time I brought the errant cheese pizza back in ad the guy looked at me and before I could even explain the issue he said "oh, you ordered a white pizza with no tomatoes didn't you?" We love the pizza here. 1st because we are from NY and second we eat here often. They prep your meals in a timely manner and it is always fresh. We are in the neighborhood so thats a plus for us!! We live here over 25 years and we don't care about our Hometown pizza, as long as the pizza is great we are happy. Fantastic food is served here. Never getting anything from this place again. I ordered 2 pizzas and an Italian cold cut sub. Both pizzas had the wrong toppings of stuff I didn't order. I have an email and pictures to prove it. This is now my family's favorite pizza restaurant. I had a cheese calzone with sausage added. My wife had a cheesesteak with French fries. Both items were large enough for two people. The cheesesteak looked great. The fries were cooked perfectly. My calzone was perfect, I can't wait to reheat the leftovers and polish them off. Their pizza used to be so much better. The ingredient quality isn't nearly as good as it used to be. I would say that this pizza was as good as if get in Pasadena, but they cut it down to the quality of a chain. They do still have good crust, but everything on the pie is blah. read more

We recently discovered 1978 Pizza via DoorDash and they are now our favorite pizza. The sausage pizza is absolutely delicious with lots of gooey delicious cheese and sliced sausage instead of crumbly bits and the cannoli is wonderful not to sweet and the shell is crispy and packed full of the most delicious creamy filling! read more

So glad to have tried 1978 today after looking through reviews for good NY style pizza in the area. I had to the margherita and it was fantastic. The red sauce, garlic, mozz and basil were in perfect harmony. Crust was on point as well. I highly recommend this pizza. The Greek salad was big and very good as well.
