We have an old single piece wood garage door with the side-hinges, and we wanted an opener (as well as easier to open and close manually if needed) without replacing the door or changing the look from the outside. We got a few in-person estimates. Justin was the only person who made me feel confident in his knowledge. The other guys probably knew what they were doing, but during my estimate, Justin took the time to explain to me what he was looking at, exactly what work he would recommend to achieve what we wanted, and why, along with breaking down what everything would cost. I am unfamiliar with garage doors but I want to know exactly the what and why for any job around the home, and unlike with the other two estimates I got, I didn't have to press for explanations; Justin involved me in the process and gave me details and welcomed my questions! Once we decided to schedule the work, we had a small snag when the parts he ordered for us were a little delayed right before out appoint. It was no problem for me to reschedule, but they went above and beyond in making sure we knew the situation and in making it up to us with a little extra. We sent up an appointment for a Tuesday, and Justin came out and evaluated the system. We needed a new garage since the existing one had a crumpled panel. I explained to him that I wanted the same garage (insulated, no windows) and was concerned about reinforcement on the panels. He quickly eased my concerns, and even offered to call up the supplier to have them roll in some dimpled lines into the new door to match the door from the second garage. I wish i knew about their services sooner.Justin came out and re-did my single bay doors to ensure they roll up as close as possible to the ceiling beam to give me maximum clearance for a 2 post auto lift i plan to install. Justin was able to get the doors just under one inch from the beam. Original installer of this door said that was not possible which was clearly not true. I stumbled upon 1st choice in a desperate situation - I was selling my home, in the middle of escrow, planning to close in a week. I was moving all my furniture to the rental home and I carelessly backed my car into the garage before it had finished opening!! Panic ensued and I didn't know what to do. Installed new garage door, and they were exceptional from the beginning to end. My garage had an old tilt up door and there was a beam in the center of the ceiling. Installation had to be creative due to the structure of garage. I called three garage door companies including 1st choice, and Justin was not only most competitively priced, he was most knowledgeable. One of door companies said they cannot avoid the beam and the rail needs go under the beam in tilted angle. I really did not want it, and Justin resolved this issue by installing radius track and mounting side door opener. From ordering to installation, it took less than a week, and actual installation only took half day on site.
