Beautiful coffee shop in Atlantic Highlands

1st cup Coffee is a great coffee spot in the Atlantic Highlands. They have awesome drink specials + baked goods. It's a nice spot to relax and enjoy your coffee. The French toast iced latte was unbelievable and tasted like the popular breakfast dish in every sip!

They do pour overs. Getting a mocha java

Super chill place for quiet time for yourself. The art work is amazing and the employees are very nice. They make you feel so welcomed. They do not trust their own coffee beans here. It's from a local roaster from Forked River in Ocean. They do carry almond, soy and coconut milk if you ask. I found another wonderful coffee place to frequent.

I've been to the newer 1st cup location, and I think I prefer this one. There's a cozier vibe here. Coffee is always good, and my croissant, though I usually love Balthazar croissants, was a bit stale, so that was disappointing. But if in the area, I would definitely come again.

Instead, the guy here made me an Americano over ice, and charged me the same price as a cold brew.

The building itself looks almost like an old diner--long and brightly colored. Inside is more of the same. There are a couple of round tables with diner-esque stools and a few chairs randomly placed in the center of the seating area. All of it contributes to a kind of endearing quality of the place. I was greeted with a friendly smile by who I believe is the owner. I opted for a small coffee and a biscotti, as I wanted something that wasn't too sweet. The coffee is self-serve, which I'm not a huge fan of as sometimes they aren't as fresh, but management seems to take care of this. My orange almond biscotti, while I was happy to be able to taste the hints of orange, was stale. Prices were fair, as my coffee and the biscotti were each $2. It's a bit chilly in the cafe and a little loud with the music but I was still able to get some work done. If it were a bit closer to home, I think I would frequent this cafe a little more, but I wish the owner all the success!

Leaving fate to faith in the lovely barista. Both young ladies behind the counter are adorable and personable. Knowledgable too!

Shore Shakes is really small, literally just a counter with 3 or 4 stools. But of all the times I passed by there, I've never seen a line at the shake counter. Which leads me to say this place is a hidden gem and a half! The two dudes that were there at the time seemed super cool and very friendly. I'm not really that much of a social person, but I talked with the guy who made my smoothie for a few minutes after my smoothie was done. Definitely a nice, enegetic atmosphere, good music, and great staff. As for my smoothie. It was a s fresh as can be. They make it right infront of you, so you can see all that goes into it. No presevatives/ pre-made mixes or anything like that. I'd also like to add that most smootie places that I go to in the city charge you about $6 for a 16 ounce smoothie, so I was very satisfied that to see Shore Shakes giving 24 ouncers for the same price. And best of all, the few drinks they offer that have protien powder in them, they give you healthy doces. Something like 23 to 35 grams depending on what smoothie you get. And there's a great selection to chose from.

After I chose my smoothie, they started it off with a syrupy mix, which looked sugary and gross. The only "fresh" thing they put in was blueberries, which looked like they had been sitting in the tub for days. They put a vanilla protein powder in, whatever, and then they blended it all together with some ice. The "smoothie" was a sugary, syrupy mess. On the brighter side, my friend got a strawberry smoothie which they put in some "fresh" strawberries and he added peanut butter which made it less sweet and Taste better. We probably still won't go back.
