Our cat had a bad abscess that we noticed one day, and it was really quite a scary problem. 1st Pet got us in to see a vet in just a few hours, and they took care of our cat with lots of TLC. The vet, Dr. Hohnbaum, was very friendly and loving to our cat. She took her time, and made us feel very comfortable. A few hours later our cat was all fixed up and ready to go home. Very reasonable price, I was expecting a sticker shock, but was pleasantly surprised. My husband took our puppy to this hospital they did testing for Parvo and the first test they didn't get a clear answer the second test they said it was negative. They also did a parasite testing. they told us that everything came back fine. They sent us home with medicine. and sadly, and unfortunately, our puppy passed away that night three hours after the hospital visit. By the conditions of our puppy, I saw it coming that he did have Parvo we went through something similar three years ago. We spent $520 on everything they told us he was ok and sent us on our way. Amazing pet hospital in an emergency. I had to rush my 3 year old Westhighland terrier to the pet hospital on 7/11/2017 in the evening after a rattlesnake bit hm on my back porch. We live next to the Superstition Mountains in Apache Junction. It was so scary to go through a rattlesnake bite with my dog. I My dod received top notch care from Dr Gassman at 1st Pet emergency pet hospital in Mesa Arizona. Fred was admitted into triage and given pain medication immediately. He was kept comfortable while they tested his blood to look at blood clotting times and red blood cell counts. He was given pain medication, IV fluids, and antivenin to save his life. He was monitored and kept comfortable over night. Dr Gassman and her colleagues saved my sweet Fred from death. I'm so thankful for them. He is at home healing and making a full recovery thanks to their quality care. The price for care was 1300.00 and is a reasonable price to pay for hospitalization and antivenin care. I would take any of my pets to them again in an emergency. Thanks Dr Gassman for saving my sweet Fred. read more

Stay away from this place, they don't care about your pet at all. Brought my dog into the emergency vet due to back pain and not having full control over his back legs. They took us right back and after the tech took basic info, she told us the dr. would be right in. 2 HOURS LATER, with nobody coming in to help us or offer my dog any kind of medicine for the incredible pain he was in, the doctor finally came in. The dr was in like maybe 10 minutes, said they would send him home with some pain meds and they needed to take x-rays. I thought this was a great approach. Dr left, the tech came back in and said, "let's get you check out" I informed her that they had not done anything, no x-rays, nothing. They literally have no clue what they are doing, no communication, no care for the animals the care for. After showing my displeasure, they took him back and took x-rays, said they would call us in a couple of hours to talk about the x-rays. 24 hours later still no call from them. We called them 4 times over 6 hours to ask them what is going on. Just got the run around each time. Oh, they will call you right away. Meantime, my dog has now lost all bladder control and has no control over his legs. We rushed him to a competent vet and there is a chance he will never walk again because of this HORRIBLE VET, did give two shits about our dog. In addition, the 4th time we called them, basically in tears cause our pup was in so much pain, they said that we can bring them in again to get different pain meds and pain shots. But informed us, because it was over 24 hours, we would be charged another emergency fee. The only reason we didn't take him in sooner, is because we were waiting to hear the x-ray results that they dragged their feet on. We have been using 1st vet for years but they have gone downhill fast, especially this location. PLEASE BEWARE, DON'T TAKE YOUR PET HERE. The only bright side is the Vet Tech Jonathan. Took my cat here and spent $1300, $250 just for walking in the door, the rest for tests, IV'S, anti-nausea meds and antacids told she was healthy from all the testing an x-rays, so unless I wanted to spend another fortune on MRIs, etc, to take her home and monitor. Brought her home, gave her meds and she died within 48 hours. I can not emphasize enough how absolutely exploitative the veterinary industry is. I am disgusted not just with this place for failing pets and their humans but any vet business that charges this much for emergency care and then doesn't actually help. X-rays and antacids don't cost that much! Just the fact that I didn't have funds to bring her back in because of how much they charged the first go round and had to let her just die is horrifying. Something needs to be done. Also, only one doc on shift, the person who took the initial call got a ton of details wrong and because my cat was friendly, despite throwing up a massive pool of blood the night before, she was considered stable. I would explore other options where they have transparency with their costs and don't financially rape you for their own profits and then kill your cat. read more

TERRIBLE!!!!! 2 hours waiting at midnight after giving birth she was attacking her babies. She was a 10 on the anxiety scale. A breeder told us she may have retained placenta or puppy or maybe electrolyte imbalance . I was told the vet would call me during the examination which never happened and they did nothing other than check her temp , which was high. Then they told me she was probably ok but just to watch her. No labs, no ultrasound to check for retained puppy, no nothing!!! No prescription for anxiety or antibiotics. Just a big nothing. Then they "accidentally" overcharged me which I only found out when I called to complain. 12 hours later taking her to a real vet to have her checked. I cannot express how much these people care about you and your animal. Listen emergency is tough because there are priority levels but if you stick it out, your animal is getting the best possible care. They lent me a phone charger, gave my dog a pain shot when I asked, the vet found out an underlying issue and took care of things, it was incredible. They also go over pricing with you and each step to see what they can change that meets your budget. I couldn't have asked for a better experience with the teams on multiple shifts. We've been here a couple of times for our older dog and they've always been loving and kind. Today was no exception when we took our dog in. Brandon and Priscilla were AMAZING!! You know how you can tell people care and genuinely want what is best for your pet? This is them. We spent nearly three hours there and in every interaction they showed love and patience with our scared dog. I was crying most of the day knowing we had to take her in because she was so sick and as soon as they walked in, my heart calmed. I know, I know, cheesy. But in our time of need they comforted all of us. I trust this place with Lucy's life and I'm grateful to have a place we can go to when we need it. I just spent a useless six hours waiting for my cat to be seen at 1st Pet. Initially, they brought us into an examining room, giving the impression that we were going to be seen right away. No, not exactly. They kept my cat. for six hours and she was never examined. At one point I asked to sit with her in the examining room and they wouldn't bring her to me. Really? This is compassionate cat care? They should've told me immediately that they weren't going to get to me today. They should've sent me elsewhere. Instead, they stressed me and my cat out. I took my old and dying dog there early in the morning knowing this would probably be her final day. The staff got me into an office quickly and after exam from the vet determined euthanasia was the only real option. The staff and doctor were kind caring and compassionate. They allowed me all the time I needed before and after. I was in no position to compare any pricing but was thankful they applied a veterans discount. This was the first time I had to put a pet down let alone my sweet 13 year old chica who I miss every day but 1st Pet was very helpful. The cremation services were also done well. The staff also provided ink paw prints which were also great to have. 1st Pet sent a signed sympathy card from several of the staff. We were told our dog emergency would be triaged on arrival, so they open at 7am with doctor arrival. When we arrived & checked in 1st, we got a room asap. The tech said ok, well, its gonna be 2 hour wait because doctor checks overnight guests 1st and you can leave your dog & we'll call you when we get to him. What? Why weren't we told this on the phone? You must leave your suffering pup til we get to him? I had 2 hours to read bad reviews while the staff ignored us. The reviews scared me. I want to begin with a big WARNING!!!! I took my granddog - S, here because he had been throwing up and he had not eaten for 3 days. The initial consultation was done. They called me back and said that they had S in an IV and that they will be taking x-rays and running a blood test to determine if he had swallowed something- see, my grand puppy has done that before so we had to sit and wait patiently for the professionals to tell us what to do. I dropped S on the 20th around 12pm. Around 8:38 pm they called to say that the x - ray shows a foreign body; therefore, surgery is needed. They will keep him for surgery tonight. Let's fast forward- around 9:30 am on the 21st, a staff calls S' mom to tell her that their surgeon is not comfortable doing the surgery so they will call us back once they find a clinic that will have a specialist for this type of procedure (i am in tears, thinking that my grand puppy will be going through a procedure) but, I must trust these people. They seem to care. Let's mention that because they kept him over night, we were charged an arm and a leg!!! I get a call around 10:15am with directions and a name of a facility in Gilbert. The staff tells me that they have spoken to the staff at this other facility and they have a surgeon waiting for S and I. I drove him there. When I arrive I am told that nobody had called and that they are booked!!! I begin to cry and I ask to please help us. I tell them the story. FAST FORWARD: 6pm on the 21st. The new Vet facility informs us that their x-rays show nothing!! He had not pass anything. Most likely he was nervous and missed his parents who were away on vacation. S did not need surgery!!! He was DC home. I called 1st Vet. I spoke with Angie (supervisor) i requested money back and an explanation for this type of treatment. I am appalled of their lack of professionalism and care for my lovely S. I feel like this place will take advantage and reach for all of your money when you are left to their advice. I am hurt that my S was kept overnight when that was not needed. Their Staff never communicated with the facility where we were sent; however, they never did. I am so glad that the other facility took the extra step to redo new x-rays. I AM APPALLED!!!! Angie tried arguing with me about my request!!! I am being fair when i am asking for a refund of some sort for their mistakes and for putting us and my dog through this roller coaster. Took my Dod there at 4 pm. They said it would be 4 hours. At 8pm I got a generic text, 10 pm same text, midnight I called "oh she's next", 3 am I called what's going on "oh, she's next" 4;30 am The vet called wanted to know about what was going on. When I brought her in I told two techs all about her symptoms. I had to explain it all over again. My dog had been gasping for air, they had it down that she was hacking. Nothing about the seizure she had. The staff don't talk to each other that's for sure. They wanted $1100 for blood work and X-rays. I left there 13 hours later with a $250 bill for just listening to her heart and Because I waited up all night thinking that they were going to call. Got no sleep because of worry. When I went to pick her up at 5am, there was no one there of authority. No one for me to talk to about my experience or my bill. All I got was, "Oh they will call you" so all I got out of this experience was worry, no sleep and my wallet is empty only to have to try this morning to see if my regular vet can squeeze her in. I am going to preface this review by acknowledging: It was SUNDAY This is an EMERGENCY animal hospital (my fur baby was not in distress and had no injuries) I showed up on Sat eve 5pm and was told it was a 2hr wait.. my pup seemed to improve while we were in the room, so I elected to take her home for those 2hrs and come back if necessary. I took her back at 9am the next morning (Sun) I get it, you seek emergency vet care on a weekend, expect to wait. BUT- 6 HOURS!?! I know critical cases can happen without notice, injured animals just show up, I GET IT. But I still don't BUY it. I've been to emergency animal hospitals MANY, MANY, many times...all hours of the night/day, weekend, etc. Had pets hospitalized for extended periods, done it. I have NEVER - waited longer than 3hrs, and THAT wait only happened because an animal came in who was hit by a car. Listen, I am in the medical field, I get how the rotation works.. staff prep, clean, get vitals, draw blood, take x rays, etc. Dr rotates thru surgeries, exam rooms, etc. Something is off about how this clinic rotates... It doesn't matter if you have "criticals" come in, the VET is not prepping them, etc., getting vitals, prepping surgery, etc. AND - if you have so many critical pets coming in; just COMMUNICATE THAT TO THOSE WAITING! Don't just leave someone sitting in a room for over 3hrs with absolutely NO communication. This place needs to absolutely restructure their business model. If your patients are waiting such extended periods on a consistent basis, (read the other reviews, this is STANDARD for this clinic) perhaps have MORE VETS than just 1 working? It broke my heart when the person in the room next to mine left with her pup, who was in pain, after sitting in a room for 4hrs.. there is NOTHING, that warrants a 6hr wait. I believe I also left a one star review for the primary care side of this business but the emergency side also needs feedback. I brought my dog in for eating raisin. They were able to induce vomiting so the situation worked out well. But...even though I brought in my dog in under 30 min, the tech told me that I should call poison control to get advice as I was sitting in the exam room waiting for the doctor. That came across as utterly absurd so I questioned the tech about the doctors training/ knowledge/experience and competency related to treating what is generally a standard protocol. I think I she was embarrassed eventually and then relented and said, " well, you don't have to." I finally told her that if the veterinarian is not comfortable treating then let me know because I am not going to formulate a treatment plan with a random phone operator at a call center. That situation to this day is surreal to me. After treatment the vet told me to follow up with 2 days of full blood panels ( about 300 bucks). So I requested a bag of suq Q fluids (that is the only intervention for that condition)....But she said that fluids were not necessary given that very little of the toxin likely entered my dogs system.. and "not worth the risk." (sub Q has nearly a zero percent complication rate). So, essentially she was telling me that the bloodwork was unnecessary because she deemed it unnecessary to take even the most basic preventative action related to the kidnesy. In other words she unwittingly told me I didn't need to do the bloodwork for the dog, but for her income stream. (many vets work off a 40 percent commission or earn bonuses based on their revenue production). read more

This is a terrible place that does not care for the pets. They only care for money. The doctors are young and don't know what they're doing. I took my cat there as he couldn't breathe and they said everything was fine and all tests were good. I took the cat home and his condition deteriorated overnight and took him back there. I shouldn't have! They kept the cat in an oxygen box in which he still couldn't breathe and called me to tell me that he was getting worse. Then they recommended giving him antibiotic--something they should have done on the very first visit. I have no idea what they did to that poor cat. In the end I had to make a heart breaking decision to put an otherwise healthy cat to sleep. If you love your pet, stay away from this horrible place. read more

I never write reviews but my experience here the other night has really pushed me to. I got home late from my boyfriends house and when I came inside I was expecting the usual cries of happiness from my 2 year old pup. Instead it seemed as if she couldnt breathe at all and i immediately started freaking out. I was trying to console her as I dialed the line to the first emergency vet that popped up as it was after 10pm at the time. They answered almost immediately and directed me to come in if she was having trouble breathing. By the time I got to the clinic my pup had stopped and was just excited to be in the car. I had tears running down my face and I was so scared I was going to lose my girl! Everyone in the office was kind and understanding. They brought us back immediately and although she was fine and acting normal again we saw a vet tech in less than 20 minutes. She pulled up a video of reverse sneezing and it turns out my girl just has allergies. I was embarrassed but so relieved that she was okay and they sent us home without a bill. But my husband was on the way to pick him up, he asked the nurse that did they check urine for him yet? They said no. So what did they check? and what was the $250 exam for? And the doctor laughed at my husband because I couldn't understand them. It's an insult to the patient, my cat is in emergency condition with no one to check on him. A failure and unprofessionalism from the doctor when he laughed at the patient's face. They keep talking about the doctor was so busy to surgery. I don't care about that. I took my 15yr old ShihTzu "Ty" to the Mesa location. Emergency visit. On a Saturday evening. Hour and a half drive from Globe. Staff was quick, no wait, very caring, very thorough and so very kind and sweet. He had some serious medical issues going on, so I chose to take him home to spend a little more time with me. Unfortunately just a few hours later I needed to take him back, the end was coming sooner than I wanted. My second trip back, same thing. Quick to be seen, the most compassionate staff, excellent doctor. They helped me get through the hardest decision of my life. Most importantly they let me take all the time I needed to hold my baby boy, before, during and even after he passed away. I highly recommend this clinic. They have an excellent team. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. First, I am a responsible and knowledgable pet owner. Second, I understand the purpose of an emergency vet and appreciate that cases are treated in order of their severity. Based on the description I provided to my regular vet, I was told my dog likely suffered a seizure and to take him to an emergency vet. I called who they recommended, First Pet, provided my info and headed that way. When I got to the parking lot, the tech came out ithin minutes and wrote down all of the information requested and took my dog inside (of course, I'm not allowed in because of Covid). She told me someone would call me. After sitting in the car with no information for nearly 2 hours, I called them asking for any kind of update because no one had communicated anything at all to me during that time. I was obviously sensitive to the potential of a long wait, as I waited nearly 2 hours to remotely 'bug' them. The girl's response on the phone was, "are you still sitting in our parking lot?" I informed her that I was because that is what I was instructed to do. She admitted to me that someone should have called me, had me pay the initial fee, informed me of how long it was going to take and told me to go away and come back when they called. I asked her if my dog was simply sitting in a cage the whole time and she said yes and proceeded to explain to me in a very defensive tone that they are like a hospital and treat the worst first, which I understand, and that wasn't the point of my question. Being that my dog allegedly had a seizure, it was shocking to me that he would just be put in a cage and left for nearly two hours. I asked that my dog be returned to me immediately. The girl on the phone said, "we will be out shortly." Click. No apology. Nothing. When a different tech brought my dog out, I asked if he was left in a cage with them knowing he allegedly had a seizure. She said yes, but people were in the room and he had bells on his neck. So no one paid attention to him unless a bell rang. Let's be honest, my dog would have been better off to be with me in the car so I could watch him for the nearly 2 hours to see if he had another seizure. Why was there no communication?? On the brief plus side, the tech that brought my dog out was very pleasant and never got defensive when I asked her questions. I know my dog's situation was not at the top of the triage board, but the lack of communication and professionalism was shocking and concerning, as it could be detrimental to a pet's health. We, as pet owners, go to an emergency vet already stressed and concerned about our beloved family member. Our pet is likely stressed and confused when taken inside without us during this strange time. Putting them in a cage and leaving the pet parent in the dark for nearly 2 hours (and would have been more if I had not called) without any attention or communication is frankly cruel. Needless to say, I'll never go back and I will not be recommending this facility to anyone. I'm sadly disappointed by the carelessness, lack of respect and insensitivity extended by First Pet, as my pet was nowhere near being first. read more

Our beloved dog Henry was at the end of his 15 year life. We took him in, no appointment, no waiting. From the second we walked in The staff was compassionate, caring, understanding and allowed us all time we needed. As horrible as this day was the staff made it very special for our family. We are very thankful for their help. And not that is should matter but unfortunately it does: the cost for our visit was very reasonable. My only regret I didn't catch any of the staffs names under the circumstances I would have liked to give each of them a huge thank you for being with us through this difficult time. Sittting in the waiting room with my sick baby, checked in right away and was taken to room. Quick, right?! Nope!!!!!! Tech comes in 20 (twenty mins) later, asked to see the MD (VET) and waited another 20 mins! Dr. SANCHEZ gives the estimate and leaves the room, we go out and ask, "um, is anyone coming back?" Oh yes, we will send someone in, we are sorry! 45 MINUTES later!!!! She comes back, and now we are sitting waiting again for them to come back!!! We took our cat to 1st Pet in Mesa. He had a bowel obstruction and was in need of iv fluids for dehydration and an enema. Our cat was returned to us with injuries and in a condition that can only be considered abuse. When the tech handed him back to me in his carrier, he was actively choking on vomit that was stuck in his mouth and from the long rope of thick mucus hanging from his mouth, he'd been struggling for quite some time. I yelled that he was choking but had to clear his mouth and airway myself because the tech didn't even look at me, she just shoved the dismissal paperwork at my husband and walked away. My cat was sitting in a pool of feces and vomit; a good portion of it was dried so he'd been in that state for awhile. We discovered the worst of it after we got him home and cleaned up. His tail has been severely injured, either broken or so badly strained that he can't move it. That injury is consistent with someone pulling hard on it or trying to use it to hold him down. (Although we'd given permission to sedate him when we dropped him off and they said they had done it on one of the previous calls, they still called us again after he'd been there for over 3 hours to tell us they were giving the sedative; something he desperately needed from the moment they took him in.) We did not give permission for his claws to be cut, nor did they call and ask if they could do it. They also didn't tell us it had been done which is vital information, especially since they were brutally cut, leaving cracked and broken edges. Several were cut down into the quick and one of his back claws came close to being removed completely. The risk of infection is tremendous, especially since they'd left his sitting in feces and vomit for so long. During the 5+ hours that he was there, we sat in the parking lot almost the entire time. At one point they told us it would be another 4-6 hours. We live out of town so we decided to drive home and check on our other cat, but before we got there the vet called and said he was almost ready so we told them we'd be back in half an hour and turned around. When we got there, they said it would be another 1-2 hours. They brought him out almost 1.5 hrs later in the condition that I've described. It is worth mentioning that during the five hours we spent in the parking lot....unable to go inside to calm our cat and help make it easier for everyone....we watched every other customer walk thru the doors with their dogs and stay. In fact, there were cases where several people were allowed to go in with their active, healthy dog but we were denied access to help our desperately ill pet. We watched two women show up with one small dog and two kids; all of whom were allowed inside the facility for the duration of their appointment, as was EVERYONE else. If no one cares about them abusing a cat, they should at least be concerned about the health risk to humans. We paid almost $850 for this but it's not about money. They abused a helpless, sick animal whom we had trusted to their care. We don't know yet if our cat will recover or not and certainly nothing will make up for the trauma and heartsickness our little family unit has gone through. My goal is to make absolutely certain that the agencies who protect our pets are aware of what happened and that they will investigate and do everything within their power to make sure no other animal is treated this way. read more

This is the worst place to take a pet. I should have known from the start when David answered the phone and was rude and very incompetent. I had no choice but to bring my animal as it was late and she was very sick. In one day she took a turn for the worst. This was the only place open at the time. I was told they could make my dog better. They charged me an outrageous amount of money and still killed my dog. If you love your fur baby then please take them somewhere else. If you want your dog to die then this is the place to bring them. I will miss my dog forever. Thanks for killing her. You people are horrible. read more

Since they seem to have removed my original post, I am reposting it again so people may see just what a horrible place this truly is. This is from 2018, so this place has been very bad for a very long time. Please think twice before bringing your precious pet here, where it clearly seems that making money is the single overriding factor... I just spent over 7 hours in this place waiting for the Doctor to see my Miniature Poodle Raven for an undisclosed condition. Over 7 hours on Christmas Eve, and I was so scared for my Raven that like a dumb ass, I just kept waiting. When I'd finally had enough and complained about the wait, they told that after 7 plus hours, I still had two people ahead of me. This is unacceptable behavior for a place that is supposed to be there to take of your pet at a time when both your pet and you are in such a vulnerable position. I told them I was taking Raven home, because by that time she was looking and feeling just about normal again. They told me it was no charge and I left. I had no more than gotten in the car when they called me on the phone. I foolishly thought that they had realized how badly they had treated us and wanted us to co come back inside to immediately be seen by the vet. Stupid me. They called to say that they were wrong and that I owed them 50 dollars for the visit. I told them to please bill me, and they told me they couldn't do that, and that if I didn't pay by credit card right then over the phone they would send it to their collection company at once. As politely as I could manage, I told them to stick it where the sun don't shine. It is clear to me by this behavior, that this place is basically only in it for the money. On Christmas Eve. Trust me when I say, they will never see a dime of this money, and if I have to drive a hundred miles for an emergency vet in the future, that is what I will do. Completely unacceptable for a business to act in this manner. If I could have given less than 1 star I certainly would have. I just posted this review and decided to read other reviews about this place. Wow. So many bad reviews. I truly urge anyone who is thinking about taking their pet to this facility to reconsider, at least until you have read these negative reviews. I do not like, nor would I ever recommend, any emergency vet service which appears to care more for the money than they do for the well being of your pet. How about you...? read more

If you love your pet do not bring them here. Took our dog with congestive heart failure in for oxygen, they held him for 7 hours before even examining him and did not administer any oxygen and only gave him a shot that was completely ineffective, after being told he was stable we picked him up and he was having increased difficulty breathing (100 breaths per minute). At 2 am we took him to AVECCC who promptly administered oxygen and are now giving him an ultrasound. I would say only take your dog here to be euthanized, but I wouldn't be surprised if they botch those too. Avoid at all costs. This is my only negative review on yelp. read more

When you first walk into 1st pet the waiting area is clean, front office seem friendly, you have a since of hope. Only for it to quickly go down hill. We rescued a stray kitten who looked malnourished, her eye was swollen shut with pus and missing patches of fur with lesions on her skin. (Scary right?) we dropped her off with a vet tech and she advised us that they would contact us when she was ready to be picked up. We picked her up and another vet tech advised they suspected the lesions to be ringworm and they would call us back with the results in 3-4 days. We called on the 4th day to check on the results as we had not heard anything yet and were anxious to find out. The person on the phone said they would have a vet tech call us back. When the tech called us she said those results actually take 14 days and there was no reason to be calling. On day 16 we called again only to be told to basically "not call again" and that they weren't back yet. This whole experience with 1st pet has been extremely disheartening and made me feel unheard as a pet owner. We did not meet with a veterinarian once and spent loads of money $ to just be tossed aside. I do realize they deal with a lot of emergency/trauma patients, and those take priority. But if you are going to accept patients that are looking for a non emergent thing such as a ringworm test, you should at least give them the courtesy of meeting the provider face to face. We are all busy and I understand that the front office/techs are doing their best, but please be kinder and more thorough with your approach. - Sincerely your fellow pet owner. read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would! We took our 9 year old pup to their Mesa location on Southern and Higley to be euthanized after he had been sick for quite a while. We called first and spoke to someone on the phone about what was going on. Upon arrival, we gave all our information at the desk and again explained what was happening with our dog. We were taken back to a quiet room where a tech came in after about 15 min. I was already upset because it is not easy to decide when the time is right to euthanize a furry family member. After going over everthing with her for a third time, she left the room to talk to the doctor. When she returned, she told us the doctor was not comfortable putting our dog to sleep. She implied we just wanted to get rid of our dog! If that was the case, I could have dropped him off at the pound or taken him out to the desert. Why would I spend over $450 to do this?! Pet parents know their pets! Sadly, they made me second guess myself...and because of that, my pup suffered longer than neccessary. Our vet found that there was something systemic going on - even more than we realized. Thank goodness there are veterinarians and techs out there that actually know what they are doing! Not only do they care about the animals that come into their offices, but the owners that love and care for them. Don't take your pets to 1st Pet Veterinary Centers. You and your pets deserve so much better. read more

Took my cat in for a minor issue. They misquoted the office visit fee - it ended up being $100 more than originally quoted. They wanted to run every test on my cat before they even had an idea of the problem - totaling over $1,000. Since they ripped me off on everything, I had to eliminate most of their services/costs. They could care less about my cat, they were just $ hungry. Shame on places like this! read more

They saved my German Shepherd from Bloat!! We caught it as soon as it happened late on a Saturday night. We called and 1st Pet said to bring him in immediately. They did a xray and saw his stomach was twisted and gas was trapped. He had a 50/50 chance of living and is doing better than ever! He has had a full recovery. read more
