I was thinking I was pulling up to Mobile Geeks and I'm glad I mixed these two up. I got a tiny amount of liquid on the face of my iPhone XS and it went into the front earpiece and damaged this chip/cable that regulates Face ID, the ear speaker, and somehow the battery. My phone wouldn't hold a charge past 3%, and only turned on sporadically. I brought it in, and Jeremy immediately took it apart, assessed which part was damaged (the cable, not the battery as I'd thought), and even though 1up wasn't able to replace the chip (Apple only), he offered to dry it the best he could and left the phone open and under a heating element to dry the innards, and gave me the best, cheapest suggestion going forward. Amazing, quick, and courteous customer service. Treated as an equal and not simply as a number. Will recommend and return to this place for as long as they're in business based simply off of Jeremy. read more

I've gotten my phone fixed here twice since living in San Marcos. 1st time- perfect service, perfect phone. 2nd time- A ton of problems. It cost me $156 and some change for a new home button, and new screen. Wasn't complaining because I needed my phone fixed. I'm complaining now because I went not even a DAY after it was fixed to ask why my new home button wasn't operable- they said they couldn't fix it again. So now I don't have a working home button (it won't go back or anything), and my screen seems like it is touching things by itself. Meaning, I won't even be using my phone and the screen will light up, screen will move like I'm using it, and random numbers will be pressed causing my phone to get disabled. Sad to be leaving this review but I didn't get the service nor product I was expecting. :( If they would've helped me when I came in not 24 hours after they fixed it, I would not be writing this review. UPDATE: I forgot to update my review. A day after I got my phone back, I took it back in and a guy who worked there told me he couldn't help me. I don't understand why they would respond to me on yelp (Also I am in your records- Hannah Parks.) and act like they would help me when they literally told me they couldn't! The employee told me that any problems I was having was a phone issue, not an issue they caused. Also, my phone still turns off and restarts 4-5 times a day causing a huge inconvenience. I am going to have to buy a new phone, even though I spent $156 with this company to AVOID buying a new one. Like I said earlier in my review, I've gotten my phone fixed here before (a different model) and had no issues. But the second time, not the same story. I just wish that this company would have done something better than tell me to come in, and when I come in maybe not tell me they can't look at my phone that was repaired less than 24 hours prior? Also another thing- the guy who initially took my phone in, said I wouldn't have touch ID. I was fine with this as long as it didn't cause any problems. Now, every couple of hours my phone notifies me that I don't have a touch ID working, and it restarts every time to try and fix this problem. As someone who is in a small family business, I feel as though this company is just a cash grab, and that they don't care about their customers. The fact that this company decided to publicly say they would help me, and when I went in they wouldn't- says something about their work ethic. Never coming here again. read more

I have honestly never done a review before but considering everything these people at 1UPRepairs have done for me; it seemed morally unacceptable of me not to write one. In short, I highly recommend this repair shop for their excellence in knowledge and customer service abilities. They provide the best prices within the San Marcos area for their quality of work. If you are interested in reading my whole story proceed: Around two weeks ago I dropped my Note 5 and ended up breaking the LCD Display screen. I searched around for repair shops till I found the best price at 1Up, $197 total (with a coupon) the part itself costing $160. At the time they didn't have the part in stock so I had to wait a week without a usable phone. Totally fine, I'm not addicted as most these days. A week later I pay my dues in exchange for an all fixed up phone. However, a couple hours after going through all my notifications I realize my volume buttons aren't working. I hop in my truck and head back down to the shop. The guys there say they're going to open it up and look inside because it could have been a pre-existing condition from the drop. I come back 30 minutes later to a pristine note 5 in perfect working condition with no charge on the extra fix. I'm a happy camper. Sadly, still not done yet. A heavy-duty case I ordered online came in 4 days after the fix, I installed it and set it down. I turn to grab my phone after 5 minutes and see large purple dots sprawled over the screen. A broken LCD display.... again. I resist the urge to throw the phone and instead sleep on my options. After classes, the next day I come in the shop again and explain my situation. The incredibly nice man behind the counter smiles and says they could do it for $160 and if they find a possibility something else (other than me putting pressure on screen from installing case) could have been a factor in it breaking- it would be covered under their 1-year repair warranty. They had the part in stock, I don't have to wait a week. I get the best email of my life saying it was covered under warranty, fixed and now ready to be picked up. I opened the door of the shop warily, was it all a hoax...could people really be this nice? The repair guy explains to me it was difficult to determine who was at fault for the second break. I will probably never know. It could well have been my fault, maybe they were just giving a broke college kid the benefit of the doubt. Who knows. What matters is that for the heck of it, they didn't automatically conclude it was my fault like most repair shops would to make some extra money. I have heard having a cracked or broken screen can be some sort of street cred, but I don't like it. It is hard enough for my old gnarled fingers to awkwardly pound out a text without the additional complication of glass fissures and an ever present risk of glass slivers to worry about, too. I have been here no less than four times over the past year for repairs on iPhones and iPads. The staff is really nice and kid-tolerant (tip of the hat to Matt). All of the iPhones repairs have taken an hour or less, and the repairs have held up over time. read more

Excellent customer service. I requested quotes from several screen repair businesses in SM to replace my cracked iPhone screen. 1Up quoted the lowest price. I took my phone in, and the technician took it in the back, and then came back out and said the screen protector was cracked, but the actual phone screen was not cracked, so there was no repair needed and there would be no charge. I asked if I could give him $10 or something. He said I could be another case or screen protector. I was getting it repaired so I could upgrade, and had already bought a case with a screen protector. He said no charge then! I took their card and told the I would recommend them to my friends and family and give them a good review. read more

My laptop suddenly got no internet. I took it to 1up. They ordered a part, but when it came it didn't fix the problem. The gentlemen had given me a quote of $25, but if they couldn't fix it it would be no charge. At this point they suggested I buy a wifi usb adapter. I did so. Then I had trouble installing it because the instructions called for a CD rom. My older laptop didn't have that component. I took it back to 1 up. They easily installed the adapter and checked to see if the internet worked. It was a success! I tried to pay them and they refused. I highly recommend this company. Fast, simple, and stellar service! I have a tendency to drop my phone far more than any person should. I've had my phone screen fixed twice in the last 12 months. Both times, I was able to get it fixed on my lunch break in about 40 minutes. Matt, who's typically at the front, is so friendly and easy to talk to. I brought my MacBook Pro (2011) in because it was running suuuuuper slow, and he took the time to troubleshoot with me and giving possible outcomes before we decided for him to take it to work on. I used 1UP to repair my iPhone X that got cracked in a car accident and I was happy with the repair, however about a month later, the phone randomly started to LCD bleed and a white line split through the middle of the screen. Despite not having dropped or damaged the phone, the company said that it was not covered in their life-time warranty and would not fix it without me paying for a new screen. Took my iPhone 6s Plus in because it was on a spontaneous restarting loop and acting very weird all of a sudden (was in its case the whole time and never touched water). Every time I opened an app, it would crash or restart. I checked my phone storage and it was completely full even though I deleted every app. Told the guy (I forgot his name ahhhh I wish I knew because he was VERY helpful) the backstory of my phone and he said to wait about 1 hr. Came back and it was back to life again :) I asked questions and he answered to the best of his knowledge which I appreciated (possibly software corrupted). Wifey had a badly-cracked iPhone screen & although eligible for an upgrade, did not want to replace her iPhone 6 with yet another iPhone 6 so we went here. Service was quick (took about an hour) & her phone looks brand new again! The technician also pointed out that her battery was toast & recommended a new battery for $50 extra. He proceeded to show us the original battery & he wasn't lying or trying to blow smoke up our a**es about it. The comparison of a new LI battery to the original was eye-opening & it helped me learn something new about phones & phone batteries. The overall cost (screen + battery) was about $170, which is much cheaper than getting a new phone & plan! In the future we plan on taking her iPad there for a new screen & although I'm not sure if they service Android phones or not, but if I run into some bad luck with my Galaxy S6 I, too, will look to these guys first for help. read more

This review is really late. A week ago I was having a near nervous break down. My car wasn't working and then suddenly my lap top wasn't either. After a quick trip to best but I "learned" that my computer was basically a dinosaur and the only fix was going to be a new computer entirely. But my last hope was 1 up repairs. I walked in and my mood completely changed. Not only are the 1 up repair guys intelligent and insightful they are also cheery and comforting. I had a wonderful experience there. My girlfriend kept complaining about the battery life on her iPhone 6s so I looked up repair options and was hopeful about the good reviews from 1 Up. On the day I finally decided to get the work done I called the store at 6:22 and asked if they could do the battery replacement before they close at 7 and assured me that they could. I arrived about 10 minutes later and was greeted by a voice in the back that they'd be right with me. A moment later the gentleman began to help me and analyze the phone for any other potential work that needed to be done. He commented that the battery very clearly needed to be replaced as the phone was dying. He took the phone and 20 minutes later called my name. The work was done and comes with a 6-month warranty. We'll still need some time to review the quality of the repair/battery but the service was excellent. I felt like I was in good hands at 1 up repair. read more

Do not do business with these people. They claim they warranty or guarantee their iPhone repairs and my screen is still cracked and they refused to fix it. They got me for $135 but I filed a dispute with my bank to get the charges reversed back into my account. Once again do not do business with these people. The iPhone glass they used is also cheap and substandard and does not respond well to touch. These thieves just take your money read more

I was just at the 1Up in San Marcos and I cannot express how grateful I am for these guys doing everything in their power to help me with my cracked screen. I am from out of town, visiting San Marcos for the weekend and these guys tried to do absolutely everything to fix my phone in such short notice. They kept me updated on the progress on my phone, and they even had to go to Austin to pick up parts for my phone...this was above and beyond any other phone repair service I have ever experienced before. I am excited to know these guys are expanding, because I will go out of my way to see these guys over anyone else. They even helped me get my go-phone set up while I was waiting, they didn't have to do that but they insisted on helping in any way they could to help get me on my way back to the airport with at least some kind of phone to use in the meantime. NEVER GO HERE unless you want your phone coming back in an even WORSE condition & BE SCAMMED. Walked in to ask if they can open my iPhone X to help dry out the materials after getting wet & clean out the condensation build up in the phone. They agreed. I asked if the number I provided will be used to contact me once it is ready for pickup, they said no & to come back in 30 minutes. Came back, was told that they didn't work on it yet because it kept on getting into a "bootloop" & wanted me to be aware of that issue before they worked on it & asked if I had insurance on the device. I said no. Something seemed fishy at this point & i should've took my phone back that instant. I voluntarily provided them a different phone number to contact me when the procedure was done to avoid this type of issue. They called within 20 mins saying there was water everywhere in the device & cleaned out the best they can & they said it was "boot looping" again & they recommended the next step is this "state of the art" water procedure that suppose to help return my phone back to life which required a $50 deposit beforehand regardless if the procedure works or not. Gag is my phone was working perfectly except the camera so I was confused as to why this was needed. So I made a 3rd trip to the place to just take the phone as is. Made my final & LAST 4th trip to the darn place . Everything was working fine for an hour until the right side of my screen COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. They advised me the water damage could continue to corrode my device over time but if their drying procedure was good as they claim, my screen would still work. Waste of my $25. Thank God I declined their silly lil state of the art scam. read more
