I moved here in November 2015 and have been really enjoying it. What I love: - Location - close to great neighborhoods and restaurants (Sweet Maple!) - Automated locker delivery - 24 hour gym - All the new amenities - pool, hot tub, bbq area, super cool resident lounge - Friendly staff Renovation and construction is rarely a smooth, short process and I get that it can suck at times, but the payoff has been great. I've lived here since the beginning of December. It has fit my needs perfectly. I needed a short term rental for work (3 months). They are dog friendly and very nice apartments. The community is quiet at night and in a nice neighborhood. Upon move in, you find little snacks in your cupboards, refreshments in the fridge, and a cute little dog welcome bowl with treats along with a nice welcome card. The week I turned in the notice that I was moving out (I'm moving to LA for work) I also mentioned off-hand that I was getting married the following week. I took my dog for a walk and came back to an adorable little gift bag outside of my door, complete with two champagne glasses, a mini bottle of champagne, chocolate, a tiny heart-shaped frame, and a congratulations card! I went to LA this past weekend with friends and needed someone short notice to watch my little Yorkie. Alyssa offered to do it free of charge! She said she missed her dog and really enjoyed watching him. I wish I could stay here! It has been perfect!! I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic, conveniently located place to live! Also, the fitness center is great. Free Starbucks whenever you want it! We stayed here for 6 months during the time we look for a house to purchase. There are several types of unit, one big difference is whether you pick Post street side, or unit facing inside. Post Street facing provides nice view, however if you are sensitive to the noise, inside facing may be the choice. Thing I like about this apartment is the front office people. I say, they are genuinely happy to be with you. I read other's review that they are not so happy about the rules, but as long as I am concerned, they are very reasonable rules. read more

This place was built in the early 80's and I've lived here for the past three months. Pros- great parking on the block of the complex, good amenities (spa, gym, pool), friendly staff, many (mine included) brand new renovated complexes (carpet, cabinets, sinks, fridge, etc.), pets allowed. Cons- expensive considering what you get (more if you get stuck on an upper level given it's not much nicer), area adjacent is not particularly nice and you can not leave anything in your car if you park it on the street or it WILL get broken into, if you choose to park in the secure complex, it's an extra $200/month which I deem ludicrous. I gave it three stars because it's quite nice, but you could get a lot more bang for your buck and I'm planning on moving at the end of the year. read more

I've lived here in a studio for a year and I'm going to renew for another. Overall, i like it. Good things: - Nice appliances, pool, gym, sauna - Pretty good location with Kabuki theater, Fillmore street, 2/322//38/38L stops nearby - Very friendly staff - Super easy to rent an apartment, which is kind of a big deal right now; and the damage deposit amount isn't based on rent, which is awesome. - Laundry rooms everywhere; and you don't have to pay with quarters! You actually have a laundry card you can refill with a debit card. Excellent. - Text message alerts when you receive a package (and they sign for it at the front desk) - Pet friendly. I don't have a pet but I enjoy seeing other people's dogs Bad things: - You pay utilities separate (including garbage and water) which adds about $200/month to the rent, since most rent prices you compare will include these - Pets, garages spaces are extra. I don't have these, so maybe I should be glad I don't have to pay for them, but again... a lot of rents include these - No secure place for bicycles; tires and lights get stolen off them in garage, it sucks that I have to keep mine in my room - You feel a bit like you're living in a hotel (some people actually use it for this) or a dorm room due to the size and the hallways. read more

She was professional, friendly, and so, so sweet to my dog and didn't mind when he came sniffing to say hello. They stick to COVID protocols seriously, all masks were in place. I agree with whats been said. The building used to be great but we've had renovations for over 6 months with no rent discount. Fair enough but I got my renewal notice and my rent went from $3100 to $3600 a month or over $10,000 per month if I want to go month to month. Seems like a strong arm tactic to get me to sign a one year lease. Its all valid since its not rent controlled its just no longer worth it in my opinion. When the renovation gets finished (Id say we'd be lucky to have it done by the end of the year) it might be worth it again if the prices don't keep going up. I wouldn't recommend it, there are better deals to be had in the city. read more

I lived at 2000 Post for two years, and I second almost everything Tamara (my former neighbor...hi Tamara!) said below. I would just add: - I never had any security issues. -Dani (the manager) is also kick-ass, along with Daniel and the rest of the office staff. - The walls/ceilings are a bit thin, so I've had problems with noisy upstairs neighbors whom I believe are possibly vampires, because they love watching LOUD TV at 3 in the morning. I really love this building. It's very modern, new, and convenient to Fillmore St. shopping and restaurants. But yes...it's insanely expensive. That's the only reason I had to move out and why I'd have a hard time recommending this place to anyone but the most well-off of friends. If you can afford it...then by all means. read more

My daughter moved here a few months ago. This place is located in a spectacular San Francisco neighborhood. As a visitor, I feel as if I am staying in a five-star hotel. However, the best thing about this place is that it truly is a community. That is, of course, because of the dog lovers and other wonderful people who choose to live here. My daughter lived at 2000 Post for a year and a half. Watch out for the excessive water and garbage fees of $100+ per month. Also deposits are very difficult to get back. We were charged to clean BEHIND the refrigerator! Really? Also, several other ridiculous charges. And, never, never let your lease expire if you plan on staying! Very expensive. Daniel is THE BEST and should be THE MANAGER. The current manager, Bri(sp?) sucks, and is a totally incapable. Sure she will be on her way out. The sooner the better! Too bad they let Julie leave! I lived here for 3.5 years in (2) different units (1st one: 475 square foot studio on the 2nd floor and the 2nd one: a jr. 1 bdrm. approx. 615 sq. ft. also on the 2nd floor.) The good things: - nice pool; granite countertops, stainless steel appliances - nice staff - quiet if you face the courtyard - ample parking in the garage - modern ammenities Not so great: - monthly water and garbage bill (for a studio) can run as high as $60/month (even if you aren't there; they take an avg.) - EXPENSIVE: studio will cost you about $2k or more depending on how long of a lease you sign. - No rent control so if you don't sign a long lease, get ready to have pretty significant rent increases - By the Fillmore area; area has become more gentrified but still not that great. - Your apt. can become a steam room especially if you are on higher floors Gunther is the nicest I dealt with. I own a condo on the peninsula but wanted to try out the city. I found 2000 Post and it met all my criteria. The people who work here have been so very helpful, courteous and nice. They have a lot of rules, but honestly, that works for me because I want to live in a civilized place. I am looking to buy a place in the city, but I have really been glad to have found 2000 Post for my interim time. Moved into 2000 Post a few weeks ago and am really enjoying the community, pool & BBQ area, and surrounding neighborhood! I walk at night and feel safe. There are plenty of restaurants and things to do within walking distance and close to major public trans. There is also an amazing brunch place, a nail salon, a dry cleaners and a corner store all located in the complex! I think this place will forever spoil me! Moving in was a breeze- the office staff were super helpful, professional, friendly and never seemed bothered by my silly questions (I often have a lot of questions- haha). The maintenance staff also did an amazing job preparing the apartment for our arrival- and always seem busy keeping the place up to par. The small welcome gifts were a sweet touch and much appreciated! Love seeing all the neighborhood doggies! read more

One of the great things about living at 2000 Post Apartments is that I have found my little piece of heaven here in San Francisco. From meeting the good folks at Leasing, with the assistance of Gunther helping me through the Leasing process, to having a flawless move-in day, to the Maintenance crew who responded within moments when I reported the problem that I was having with the in-unit Washer/Dryer, and to all the amenities that are offered in the Lower Pac Heights, Upper Fillmore, Japantown, Pacific Heights areas. The Apartment Management and Maintenance Staff is very responsive and very helpful and caring, which I really appreciate given that I am disabled. I recently moved into 2000 Post and it has so far exceeded my expectations. Apart from the fact that the location and apartment are great, the apartment management and maintenance staff is super responsive, welcoming and caring. Shout out to Robert, Idi and Danielle for excellent service - Danielle in the leasing office made the move super efficient and Idi was super helpful in getting everything organized before the move. Robert goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and support the move - whether it's help in picking up packages or tiding over the smaller hiccups every move involves. I ordered many heavy duty items like a mattress before I moved in and Robert ensured they were delivered efficiently into my apartment and I didn't have to take time off work to manage such tasks! This was a big move for me since I just relocated to SF from India and the staff's support made me realize this apartment was the right choice. It's a bonus that I'm loving the location just seconds away from Filmore Street and Japantown! read more

We moved into 2000 Post exactly one year ago in May 2019 from South Beach, and we absolutely love living in our new neighborhood! The building is well managed, and has an excellent front office staff as well as awesome maintenance crew that have serviced every task within 24 hours. They also keep this place really clean, and I see them every morning cleaning the grounds very thoroughly. Günther, Chad, Tran, and the rest of the front office staff are really friendly, very attentive to questions, and always helpful whenever I have any questions or problems. The 2 bedroom apartments are very spacious, and some have great views of the pool and hot tub area. The bay windows allow a lot of light to come in, and there's a lot of breeze. Sometimes I leave my front door open and it really cools the apartment down quickly when it's hot. There is no A/C, so make sure to have fans during Indian Summer, but there is heat for the cold San Francisco nights. The BBQs are amazing, and always stocked with propane. I typically BBQ every week. The walk score is incredible, and it's a great place if you have dogs. A lot of other tenants have dogs too! I also like to run in the neighborhood, and it's very easy to get to Marina, Pacific Heights, Russian Hill, and Divisadero, or downtown SF if you work there. There are restaurants, bars, stores, and parks in every direction, and even though it's a big apartment complex, it definitely still retains that friendly neighborhood feel. My neighbors are all mostly young, a lot of them are in tech, and everyone's super friendly. Kaiser on Geary is also close by, so I switched hospitals. The gym is pretty nice for an apartment gym, and is equipped with pretty much every machine you ever really need. The lockboxes in the front office are great for package delivery, and I've only had a package stolen once or twice because that particular delivery person decided not to use the lockbox. Another thing, make sure you don't leave anything in your car, or get the parking pass to be extra safe. A lot of car break-ins are happening in San Francisco, and it's happened to me quite a bit this past year when I parked my car on the street. I think for me the coolest thing about this place is that this city block use to be the ice skating rink and music venue "Winterland" until 1985. You'll see a lot of concert posters from that era, and little things around that still pay tribute to it. I love the vibe of 2000 Post, and it has definitely been a great place to call home. read more

Money hole. They not only nickel and dime you for everything, but they also lose your packages. The staff are nice, but sometimes will tell you different things. Amenities were offered, but sometimes nonfunctional (e.g. coffee machine not working 2 days out of the week). The place is nice, but I'm not sure it's worth the cash. read more

Take the extra time to search Craigslist and find a better location to move!!!! This is a business machine with dozens to hundreds of residents and a corporate hierarchy far away. Lets start from the beginning. (Anger, frustration, typos and grammatical errors to follow) Lived here for 1 year. $3300 per month for 1 bedroom 660 sq/ft. (inner "zen garden" view, no noise problems). A bunch of deposits and form fees waved to encourage move in. WTF is pet rent? Appears and feels at first to be standard, small, and safe apartment complex with lots of amenities. But, the security is an illusion with multiple homeless vagrants roaming halls and garage random times and random occasions. Garage was broken in to multiple times and my bicycle was stolen. (locked up but not U-Lock). No cameras, no guards, nothing to do. But the complex eventually offers bicycle lockers at a $50/month value. USPS group mail box was crowbarred pried open which disrupted mail service for over 3 months. No immediate response or personal accomodations, just a crumpled printout with a pen written phone number to call if you have a problem with the situation. The amenities are annoying to get to based off where your unit is. At first they seem great but pool usage is minimal based off sun angles on pool & wind. The gym is limited with equipment, community grill was not fully functional 8 months we lived there (incident detailed later). The washer and dryers on the premises were constantly our of order or failed during usage. Understandable to an extent because they are being used a lot from so many people but thats the professional apartment rental complex's JOB. Employees are friendly and mostly helpful BUT, the one woman is also a resident so she will post on the community message board constantly defending the complex acting only like a resident not an employee. *Single personal grievance, Community grill in Zen garden was constantly beeping due to a broken electronic grill add-on not essential to physically grilling. Several requests were submitted for repair but nothing was fixed for several months. The beeping eventually stopped but only due to someone unplugging it from an underneath compartment. The electric igniter would not work then and several complaints were submitted for this but maintenance was never performed or the employees would state it was repaired. Grill ignition was only possible by lighting paper and dropping it into the grill. Extremely safe!! The surrounding area is about 75% safe and wholesome. Any direction south southeast will lead you past homeless, loiterers, and just areas my wife felt uncomfortable. Daytime not as much but nighttime I see no reason to walk that way. Safeway grocery store nearby is disgusting. Personally witnessed theft, verbal assaults, homeless eating out of food containers in the store and is ultimately an understaffed hole. Submitted move out request 60 days prior to lease termination. An email response with Lease Re-apply was received, with rent being raised $100+. No hesitation, we were moving out regardless. Fully vacated and cleaned apartment, (only discrepancy was 4 drill holes on wall from TV mount) puttied but not sanded/painted. $600 deposit originally paid, only $79 returned. And only a $79 check was received, a phone call was made to the complex to request a deposit invoice, which read; Carpet cleaning $105 Cleaning charges $150 Paint charges $43 Pet treatment $25 Final Utility Bills spanning over 2 months (yet to be personally validated) $198 So being in the military I guess I dont know how to clean. I can understand the paint, and maybe the carpet cleaning, we did only use a vacuum but it just all seems extremely cheap on the complex's part. And if the complex responds to this review, they will add that they offer a move out survey. But the survey is given when your apartment is still furnish and "uncleaned" yet. Nobody needs to be to told to clean the toilet and kitchen, thats expected. Update hopefully to follow regarding security deposit. read more

I've been living here for nearly a year and I can say it was definitely not a bad decision moving to this community. The staff here are friendly especially Jon has been very helpful whenever I have questions or need help with anything. The complex is in a nice neighborhood. Walking a block or two, you have cinema, countless restaurants, and public transportation. The common areas always being kept clean and tidy. Lastly, you would be okay even living here without a car, there's Zipcar that you can just rent whenever you want downstairs - very convenience. read more

I've been living at 2000 Post in a 2BR apartment for 5 months, and I love it here. In short, I'd recommend it highly, and I'm thrilled we chose to live here. Pros: * The staff is amazing, especially Gunther and Johnathon. They always make you feel welcome and are super responsive to requests or questions. The fun little events they throw are a nice bonus. * The location is fantastic. It's walking distance to Lower Pac Heights' cute shops and fantastic restaurants (Sweet Maple, Cafe Murano, Sweet Lime, and Royal Indian are our favorites). It's close to some lovely parks and athletic facilities. It's central to the city so nothing is ever that far away. There are lots of grocery store options, including two Trader Joe's about a mile away. The convenience store in the building is, well, convenient. It's also very near the Fillmore Fitness SF, if the in-building gym doesn't cut it for you - I'm a powerlifter so this Fitness SF is a big part of why we moved here. * The maintenance staff is extremely quick to respond to things and are generally very helpful and friendly. * The pool/lounge/gym/reception areas are all very pleasant and great places to bring friends or just hang out. Friends are invariably impressed by the premises, even if we don't go swimming all that often in practice. The building in general seems somewhat nicely maintained. * It's in a quiet, safe-feeling area (given SF), right next to a park. We leave our windows open at night sometimes and aren't normally woken by the noise. I have an outside-facing apartment on the 3rd floor so I don't know if the pool-facing apartments are as quiet. * I really like the layout of the 2BR apartment. The closets in particular make the most use of the space in a nice way. They're not enormous but they're very functional. * Nice other building amenities like automated mailbox, the ability to make payments online, connect with neighbors online, Zipcars in the building, and the ability to reserve parking for guests. Cons: * It is expensive, though much more doable with roommates. That's downtown SF in general, though, to be honest. * Some of the features and appliances are a bit older / smaller, particularly the washing machines, dishwasher, kitchen sink, stove, and shower. They all work fine, just they aren't quite as nice and modern as in some fancier buildings. * No in-unit laundry is a bit of a bummer. There are a lot of laundry rooms, but not many machines per room so they are sometimes taken, especially on weekends. If you're willing to go up or down a floor, though, you can usually find one that's open. * Utilities like AUM cost a bit more than we expected. * In the past, the building had some very disruptive renovations when building the pool and lounge area. This is where most of the negative Yelp reviews came from. You have to sign a scary agreement on the lease that says they are planning massive renovations and you promise not to complain, I think because so many people complained and moved out last time. They also warn you they could sell the apartments on short notice at any time and throw you out as a renter. These documents almost persuaded me not to sign the lease in the first place. However, it doesn't seem like they actually have any plans to do either of these things, and the renovations have all been very minor and reasonable. They just need to cover themselves in case they do something major in the future. If that sometime happens, it could be bad, though. * It's a bit far from BART and Caltrain, which makes you dependent on Ubers, buses, or car rentals / Zipcars. * Occasionally fire alarms go off erroneously in the middle of the night, as is the case in any bigger apartment building. The alarms are very loud. * We did have a bike stolen from the garage, but we were warned about this, and there are secure bike lockers if you have a nice bike and are willing to pay for a locker. read more

Have lived in this building for nearly 3 months and have been very satisfied. I read some of the older reviews on Yelp and had some concerns going in, but the staff has been really accommodating and helpful (shout out to Jon, Gunther, and Kristina). Gym and facilities are well maintained. As the building is a bit older (though exterior and apartments have been very recently renovated), I've had some plumbing issues in my apartment. With that said, put in a request this morning that was immediately serviced by Scott, who put in the work to replace a lot of parts and get things back up and running (and with a great attitude). We've lived here almost 3 years, and are glad to have chosen this spot! The location is great to start a walk up Fillmore down to Cow Hollow, as well as explore Divisadero's shops/restaurants. We've taken advantage of the gym a ton, and are thankful to have responsive maintenance staff. John has worked with me a ton on fixing up small issues, and Danielle has helped us out significantly when it came time for renewal. BE AWARE! I lived in this apartment complex for a year - and the move out process was awful. They raised the rent significantly enough to not warrant living there again (it is not a nice enough place honestly..and the apartments are small) and THEN tacked on a ton of extra fees and charges. They will completely try to take advantage, and are not pleasant to work with at all. DO not move in here. There is a reason their vacancy rate is so high. read more

***UPDATE, they took my ENTIRE security deposit to "restore" a 625sq ft. apartment and is claiming I OWE THEM $3.*** If you have $3700 to spare for a 600sq ft. 1bedroom, then sure, this place is the place for you. But if you care for a responsive maintenance team, helpful leasing office, and spending your money in a manner that's worth it, then no, I would NOT recommend this place. I agreed to pay that egregious amount assuming we'd have access to all the resources in the world to justify the cost. NOPE. The entire resident portal is flooded with weeks-old requests to fix laundry units, bikes being stolen, and the general uncleanliness of the complex (filled with flies, dog pee, poop, and they attempt to cover the smell up with a pungent/sickening air freshener). We had a broken sink for nearly a month, with food clogging up and mold growing, and it took the maintenance team weeks to get it fixed, with little to no communication. The only reason they even came and fixed it was because I sent a scathing letter to the leasing team. To make matters worse, they insultingly offer you to renew your lease with their limited time "leasing offers" that raise your rent another couple hundred dollars. They even misquoted our final rent amount by nearly $300. WHO DOES THAT??? And then when you call the leasing office to clarify anything, expect to call 5-6x before you even get anyone. Then when you do, all you get is a bumbling idiot who doesn't know anything about it. This is a complex that will cheat you out of thousands. I would seriously reconsider if you're looking at a unit here. Don't let the move in offers fool you. THERE ARE MANY OTHER BEAUTIFUL COMPLEXES/APARTMENTS IN THE AREA WORTH YOUR MONEY. THIS COMPLEX IS NOT ONE OF THEM. read more

DO NOT BELIEVE THE LIES. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! My husband and I have been living at this property since September 2013. Like many other people trying to get into the SF rental market, at first we thought we hit a home run. I mean the property had it all, a gym, a sauna, a pool, a gorgeous patio, beautiful green space, and even a guest suite we could rent for our visitors from out of town. Sure, it was expensive, but we felt that for the location and amenities it was at least worth the price we were paying. Unfortunately, over the course of our time here ALL of our amenities have all been taken away or reduced with very little to no notice from management. And ZERO compensation or rent reduction for being forced to live in a demolition site. Since November 2014, we have had to endure EXTENSIVE renovation projects. The first began with the interior hallways. Immediately after came the complete destruction of the court yard, trees, pool, gym, Jacuzzi, and front office. And NOW we are being told that we will have to endure living under scaffolding for months and months on end while they replace the side shingles and perform renovations to the roof! ONLY after heavy complaining by the tenants, did management provide a very vague idea of the timeline of how much longer we can expect to endure living in a demolition site. NONE OF THE TIMELINES HAVE BEEN MET, and we still do not have a fully functional gum (supposed to be completed by the beginning of June) and based on the fact that all the construction guys do is shovel dirt back and forth, I highly doubt that we will be able to enjoy our pool for July, as was also promised. On top of all this THEY DO NOT HAVE THE APPROPRIATE BUILDING PERMITS WITH THE CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO TO COMPLETE THESE EXTENSIVE RENOVATIONS. When this fact was first discovered, the property director, Hyes, stated that was incorrect and all the permits had been issued for all work being done, apart from the siding replacement. THIS WAS A LIE. They only got the permit issued for the renovation of the gym the DAY AFTER the meeting with management and they only filed the permits for the pool and court yard the day AFTER the meeting with management. To this day, they still do not have the permit issued. The only consistent thing that we have heard so far is how much we will love our property once all the construction is complete. Of that I have no doubt, but in the meantime, we are being forced to live in a demolition site, without a clear timeline of how long these renovations will take, with brown water coming out of our sinks, breathing dust and fumes, and listening to jackhammering at 8am. WHILE STILL PAYING PREMIUM PRICES. Frankly, we are tired of the lies, broken promises, and lack of notice for the work being done. If you are thinking of renting this place, BEWARE of the agents that try to gloss over the renovations with the promise it will be over quickly, I fear this is just the beginning of a VERY VERY long process to come. read more

The leasing team at 2000 Post (Gunther, Tran, John, Danielle, Kristina) is always very friendly, professional, responsive and willing to help anytime. I recently informed Gunther about a drawer in need of repair. He took the time to stop by to assess the issue. After determining a maintenance request was needed, Gunther submitted the request for me. Scott fixed the drawer the next day and left a nice note to let me know it as done. The maintenance team (Scott, Carmel, Juan, Freddy) is always very responsive and helpful. Outstanding team! read more

Unbelievably terrible. I was told a price over the phone, drove out immediately for an apartment viewing, and then was told that they had no idea where the price on the phone came from but that they could offer an apartment for $300/month more than I'd been quoted. Gunther was extremely annoying to deal with and even sent me an email after I left telling me about all of the apartments I'd just said I didn't want, including some that aren't even available. read more

When I arrived on-time for a 1pm viewing appointment, the front door was locked so I dialed the lesing office using the callbox. I called 3x and no one ever answered. Finally, a resident welcomed me in. Upon entering I see 2 other people waiting and the leasing agent or "community manager", Gunther, talking to other people in his office. He never acknowledged any of us even though he later revealed that he saw me waiting and he knew I had the 1pm appointment. He eventually came out of his office 30mins later. He was extremely unhospitable, rude, and again, late for our meeting. He sat in his office while 3 people waited in line (including myself) for 30mins. Only after the other two people gave up and left (who were residents), and walked back into his office - I interrupted him talking and laughing with two other people - did he come out to greet me. By this time I had waited 30mins. Apparently, I suppose this community isn't interested in new residents. While giving me a tour of the community, he continued to be very rude and condescending as if I had interrupted his day. Terrible! I would never move into this community and will tell others (as well as the resident in the building who referred me - a close personal, friend) how unhospitable Gunther is. Worst place I've ever lived, and I've lived in some dumps. The leasing agents are dishonest, unintelligent, incapable, and incompetent. They duped me into taking an apartment they knew they'd never be able to rent (it has a patio facing the courtyard that was going to be destroyed within a matter of weeks) and never once mentioned the fact that my patio (which is easily 1/3 the size of my teeny studio) would be taken away immediately, along with the trees giving my sleeping and changing area privacy, and all of the amenities I thought I was getting. Total scumbags! For the loss of my patio - which has come with a delightful view of scaffolding covered by a black netted cloth that turns my studio into a dungeon (as if the fact that it is covered in mold they tried to paint over wasn't bad enough) - they offered to compensate me $20 a month and I pay nearly $3K a month! The trash is also constantly piling up in the hallway and smells to high heavens. I complain on a weekly basis yet they can't seem to get this under control. Dog urine and flies absolutely cover the whole place. The construction is horrendous - noise at all hours, dirt everywhere (and they won't for the life of me give me a frickin screen on my window), construction men literally looking into my windows all morning, and last week flying giant shards of wood covered in nails ricocheting off my screen-less window. Serious injury hazard and no regard for anyone's safety. Today the construction workers had to enter my apartment and they left the whole place unlocked all day - front and back doors. I would never believe the lies they tell about "how great it will be when it's all done" - they have done nothing but lie lie lie to me from the start and are completely unreasonable in negotiating an acceptable living arrangement. I will never ever rent from the UDR company again, as their policies, management, and employees are totally incompetent. read more

...and the money gouge continues! Welcome to beautiful lower pac heights, a very cool and walkable area right by all the Fillmore shops and other nice neighborhoods. Just be prepared to pay top dollar for a not-so updated 600 square feet dump in a constantly renovated hot-mess of a building. I had a move-in inspection where they tried to tack on "damage" of scuff marks to the ugly and outdated popcorn walls and ceilings that were totally there on moving in. Oh, you moved in at 7 PM after taking a cross-country flight and we didn't give you a good walk-through and tell you we would charge you for random s*** at the end of this? Too bad. To echo some prior reviews: Pros: -Location is very good with Divisadero, Japantown and the Fillmore shops right by (this gives it the second star) -The (now actually renovated) pool, gym and resident lounge area is nice, but was a long time coming. -Nice people at the front desk (Gunther is my main interaction) and the maintenance guy (Chris). While everyone at the front desk is nice I wonder how much of what they say is truthful given the aforementioned issues with my move out inspection Cons: -Your rent will be stupid high and increased at the whims of the faceless higher powers. Now that the renovation are finally done, expect that to happen even more -Due to the huge amount of dog pee outside the doors there is this persistent colony of flies which makes you feel like you live in a swamp instead of a cool neighborhood in SF -Extra rent for pets and about $45 extra a month for TRASH. It's not like a valet trash service where they pick it up outside your door either, you pay this just to lug it to the trash shoot -Everything will take WAY LONGER to get done than what you are told. We moved into this place June 2015 and were told there was about month until everything was going to be open. Actual opening was March 2016. We also had a scaffolding outside our windows for two months. When there replaced our windows, the actually cracked one of them and left it there forcing me to complain about it to get it changed. -Despite their selling point of newly renovated stuff, not everything is new. The hallways have a dirty 70s era carpet and a lot of units (like mine) are very outdated with 80s era carpet, popcorn ceilings and ugly kitchen/bathroom flooring. -The people who live here are NOT happy. There is a small community of people who have lived here for years and know each other well, all of whom seem to hate the constant renovation and generally terribly run building. Also, there's a general trend of Yelp reviews you'll notice where people move in at first, like it and review it right away with a high rating versus those that have lived here and can't take it anymore and get the hell out (see Laura J.'s excellent review). Choose carefully and best of luck. Also, take pictures of EVERYTHING so they don't come and try to rip you off on the move out. read more

Where do I start...I think you should just stay away! 2000 Post is part of a huge company, so you are dealing with a very powerful organization here ie. you have no power over them whatsoever, and your concerns are simply brushed aside. This place is very expensive considering the neighborhood and safety. We paid about $1900 (in 2011) for a small studio and had to pay an extra $200 for electricity, water, trash, etc. You are basically paying an average here, meaning if someone is using a lot of water, then you are paying for them. Also they jack up their prices frequently and the rent will be about 10% higher every time you renew a lease. Tiny units. They charge extra % for pets. Customer service: The rental office people do whatever they can to get you to sign a contract. Gunther does not know anything about customer service. He is very rude and does not want to spend time listening to your concerns about the place. He is quick to tell you what he thinks you should do and does not care about the tenants. My friend who lives there now told me that he basically lied about a bunch of stuff to get him to sign. Safety: The neighborhood is very unsafe. It is very close to Geary st. with bums and drunks roaming the streets shouting/crying every night. Our bicycle (locked securely to a post) was stolen from their "safe" garage and Gunther told us that it was our fault not theirs!!!! My wife was followed by weirdos few times when walking our dog. You can hear sirens every night. On two occasions someone tried to open our door, and when we talked to Gunther he said it was probably a drunk neighbor or something. Noise: The building is all wood, and my neighbors were not very considerate. My top neighbor made a lot of noise at 5am and rental office did nothing about it. I was finally told that I have to have a witness to testify that the neighbor was loud in the morning! WHAT? They said I should talk to the neighbor directly!!! Also, ONE SIDE OF THE BUILDING IS SHARED WITH A CHURCH. They play loud music ALL WEEKENDS. Good luck getting rest/sleep. Long story short, we paid 1month+penalty ($$$$) to get out of here. Please do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY. read more

Adding to the voices echoed here which is that the community I moved into is not the one it is now and I would not recommend the building to new residents until renovations are completed. While I appreciate that San Francisco is an expensive market the current cost / quality divide is far off chart and despite the constant disruptions to services and quality of living rent has continued to rise heavily at this community. The facilities I paid for on moving in initially were worth the price tag - gardens, pool, gym, BBQ area, heavily manned lobby, exercise classes and regular security patrols have all been unavailable or reduced for most of 2015. We were not warned of this when renewing our lease at the end of 2014 and I feel as though the company has misrepresented the facilities available in that lease document. We debated heavily whether we would renew our lease this year and did so only because our stay in SF is temporary. Our 2015 lease renewal included another hefty rent increase and required all residents to sign a waiver regarding our rights vis a vis the renovations. Many of the renovations currently underway do not seem to have been necessary, they have been months in duration and constantly disruptive. Building activity has disrupted all sorts of environmental factors sound, noise, smell, heat, cleanliness, view. This is no longer a fit environment for a person who works at home for any portion of the week and I have had to cancel numerous business calls because I was unable to conduct them with the noise pollution at 2000 Post. Construction occurs early in the morning and late at night, public holidays and weekends - despite this delays are consistent and baffling. Twice now I have travelled for a month and come back to no noticeable changes. Most alarming has been the basic disregard for health and safety. The building renovations have disrupted fire doors and fire alarms many times in 2015. Basic security measures have not been taken and transients have been found wandering in the community more than once. Disabled access has been limited or missing from parts of the community with no regard for residents with limited access. Attempts to resolve these matters with building and UDR management have been entirely ineffective. Most residents have contacted internal community management, UDR customer service and UDR management. Escalations are common and ignored. A comment on staffing - Like many residents I cannot speak highly enough of Chris the maintenance staffer and Gunther in the leasing office has always been a delight to me. I feel that they are being let down by UDR as much as the residents. Community management seems to be a large part of the problem here - the previous community manager was heavily involved with residents and created a warm and welcoming environment. Current community management seems uninterested in resolving major issues, avoids or antagonizes residents and makes no attempt to acknowledge legitimate complaints. Multiple of my visitors have been treated rudely and commented on the lack of professionalism displayed. They are doing UDR a disservice and causing PR problems, negative reviews on Yelp can only be the beginning. To end on a more positive note once the gym was (finally) available again it has been a vast improvement with modern airy facilities and all new exercise equipment. I can only hope that the end result of the renovations will be a positive gain for future residents. read more

We have been staying @2000 Post for a few years now and it has been great, and here I would like to express my biggest gratitude especially to one member of the staff - Gunther. He is knowledgeable, courteous and always goes an extra mile to help you, be it personally choosing the non-working stove burners for you or assisting you when you lock yourself out of the apartment after hours! (Though none of the above mentioned should be even his problems.) He offers quick and effective solutions for different issues and questions and he also has a great sense of humor, which I am sure is not the last thing when you have to attend to many problems of many tenants in this huge building. So, the stars above are for the building in general, but Gunther deserves not five, but six of those stars! :) Thank you, Gunther! read more
