You'd be excused for having driven by this nondescript (dumpy?) looking place that shares it's building with an emissions tester; I've driven by dozens of times and thought it couldn't possibly be good. But I was very hungry and I didn't want to deal with the annoying vibe of Coda. And I love Da Lot, but I wanted to try something else. Inside you'd be further excused if you wanted to turn around because it's cute but a little dodgy looking with lots of chochkes all over. BUT stay because the food is good. I ordered two kinds of spring rolls, the combo Banh Hoi and the rice noodle soup with shrimp. The spring rolls were okay, not great. My wife who is fussy about shrimp loved the soup. Now for a little sidebar on Banh Hoii my favorite Vietnamese dish. If you've never had it, small squares of laced rice noodles and looks kind of like a flattened out Wheat Chex. You roll your fillings in it. It comes on a tray with garnishes and your toppings and I absolutely love it. This version is good not great. You get a good amount of the fillings you ordered which in my case was beef in la lot leaves, shrimp and pork. My only complaint about it is that they don't give you enough garnishes like the carrot and Basil. By comprison Da Lot gives you 3 or 4 times as much. The price is good, the place is convenient, a few blocks off Central on San Mateo, and the people are nice. Definitely give it a try if you're in the area. read more

Yummy! From the outside, I won't lie, this place doesn't look like much. It shares a wall with an emissions testing station, but don't judge this book by its cover! My boss wanted to come here for her birthday, and I'm glad we did! First thing I noticed was how many plants are inside and all look extremely healthy. Not really a review point but I liked it. The menu is longggg. Almost overwhelmingly long, but lots of options. I opted for the Pho, which came in a HUGE bowl with lots of accompaniments. I also ordered the tofu spring rolls (not pictured because they were devoured) and the mango boba smoothie. Everything was really tasty and our waiter was very attentive and kind. Being coming to this restaurant for over twenty years, I always recommend everyone to come here if they want authentic Vietnamese food, however, my last visit on Wednesday, noticed this place has really gone downhill; portion was smaller, the meat ball soup appetizer was oily and the lemonade was like sugar water, too sweet and no taste of lemonade and the Vietnamese coffee was a pre made coffee not the typical drip style. I usually take a long drive to the war zone just to enjoy their food but I guess now I won't need to make the drive anymore. 3 stars because everything was overly salted. From the rice noodle in the spring roll to the soup base in the Pho. I just landed in New Mexico for work. It was 85 degrees with thunderstorms. No matter what, if it's 105 degrees outside, I can still eat Pho. I found this place on Yelp so I decided to give it a try. When I arrived, I got seated right away and the owners are very nice. I ordered the following: Fresh Spring Roll with Shredded Pork: $3.75 - It was ok, I thought that there would be shredded pork meat but it only has pork skin so the title of this dish should be renamed to Fresh Spring Roll with Shredded Pork SKIN. Lot's of noodles and pork skin but the noodles and rice paper tasted like it was marinated in salt water. Pho with Rare Beef, Tripe and Tendon: $7.50 - Generous portion, lots of noodles, meat and vegetables. The saltiness of the broth killed the dish but it still had good flavor. Yes, this is the Vietnamese restaurant/emissions testing facility on the corner of San Mateo and Zuni. I can only speak to the quality of the food, though I'm glad they also care about the quality of the air. I've never dined in, but the to-go service is generally quite fast. The banh mi sandwiches are affordable and not bad at all. The pho is pretty good, though there are better options nearby. read more

I didn't go here much when I was still in school, but now that I am eating predominately vegan or vegetarian.....this place has become a go-to this year. The lemon grass tofu is always satisfying and the vegetarian pho is a good substitution for regular pho. It has lots of veggies. The staff is also very amenable to additions. Want to add veggies to lemongrass tofu? no problem. I am thinking of asking to sub tofu and veggies in their special crepe. Their crepes are good and a nice change if you are not in the mood for rice or noodles. Vietnam 2000 has been faithfully open during COVID-19, which has been great on days when everyone is starving and cooking didn't make it on the agenda that day. read more

Really like my dish, the beef pho and my husband's which is shrimp and pork udon. I actually like the udone more since the broth was a bit sweet. The fried shrimp in the menu look different than the one serve. It was ok. The avocado shake for me lacks a bit of sweetness but I also prefer sweeter things. They have a very extensive menu and I do want to try the other things in the menu. The service was pretty fast and quick considering there was only one server. read more

It's a little off putting to eat your lunch in the same building where emissions are being tested, but it's definitely worth overlooking that quirk. I had the ban cheo (crepe) and mango sticky rice. Both were delicious and included generous portions. Next time I'm in Albuquerque I will be sure to stop again. read more

When this spot opened, we went there immediately. I have been going back for years. I love the variety. Lately, I've noticed that the quality has improved. Unlike many Viet places, they actually come back and check on you and offer to refill your drink glasses. Their pho broth is rich and flavorful, without being too oily or salty. I like the star anise undertones, enhanced by the ginger. I'll bet they brown/burn the spices before they simmer the bones. You can tell the broth is not boiled because it is clear. The spring rolls are super fresh. I like the fresh herbs inside. The peanut sauce is a perfect complement to the lightness of the rolls. My niece prefers their fried eggrolls. I like them, but I like them served with more than just lettuce. I like having some fresh herbs, daikon and carrot, but every place does it a little differently. The nguoc mam is delicious, however. I almost always get the pho. However, the other day, I ordered the steamed rice sheets. I chose the last option, the one that cost the most. It had an interesting variety of meats on it. I liked it quite a bit. The cucumber and raw bean sprouts underneath kept it a light dish. It was a big plate, though, so even a heavy eater like me was satisfied. Their iced tea is deceptively strong. It looks weak because of the color, but it is quite strong in flavor. I love it. The decor inside is pretty eclectic. I always find something new to look at, when I go. The place is frequented by military and hospital personnel. The servers are all helpful. Prices just can't be beat. read more

This restaurant shares a building with Saigon Express vehicle emissions testing center. Don't laugh, but this has come in handy 4 times for us in the past few years. Plus the "2000" moniker means that it's cutting edge, right? So the food . . . amazing. The pho is perfect, not to sticky but just sticky enough with authentic sauce - not too gooey. The vermicelli noodle dishes (in the 20's on the menu) are my go to family-out-of-town dish (WOW I apparently love hyphenating words! Go-figure). The spring roles are tight and tasty, but don't waste valuable stomach room, instead opt for one of the decadent beverages like the taro shake - trust me on this one. I drove by this place for years and have to admit that I didn't take it that very seriously due to its somewhat strange appearance as a half restaurant, half emissions testing business. I also had another Vietnamese restaurant that I liked to go to, but I wish I had gone here sooner because now it's my favorite. Today I had the duck leg soup and it was rich and filling with lots of noodles. The broth was somewhat sweet and a nice brown color. I could taste a hint of cinnamon and star anise. There was a whole duck leg in the soup and the meat feel off the bone and imparted a lovely duck flavor to the the broth, making it even better. They have a very large menu and I want to try the Hue Spicy Soup listed at the end along with other house specialties. They also have bahn mi on the menu and this seems a little unusual. I was invited to meet a friend at this restaurant. Prior to this visit, I had never had Vietnamese cuisine. At first glance, I'll be honest, I was a little taken aback by the emissions shop so close to the restaurant. My friend had said that the food here was awesome, so I trusted his perspective. I walked in and was kindly greeted and taken to meet my friend. We ordered and the food arrived quickly. Wow... it was amazing! I had a simple noodle dish with chicken and vegetables. The food was hot, fresh and very delicious. The waitress checked in regularly to fill glasses and check on us. I ordered an iced coffee for dessert and it was great! Overall, this place is wonderful! This one of the best restaurants to get pho! I especially love #73, which isn't pho, instead of rice noodles they have egg noodles. I also had the papaya salad and and have gotten every time I've come. I have had the Mango and Green tea smoothies but personally I am not a fan of tapioca pearls and even though I specify that I do not wish to have them I still end of having them. Food is quick and service is friendly. I also like both the vegetarian and shrimp spring rolls. I have in the past asked for extra sauce for that since the don't even fill the little condiments containers even half way full with that delicious peanut sauce. My brother has accompanied me here before and ordered the fried rice, this was a mistake the chicken was super chewy and slimy. The rice looked terrible like it had been sitting in the counter for days. I strongly advise you to go elsewhere for fried rice. But I come back on a weekly basis and get a soup, the papaya salad, the spring rolls, and the smoothie.
