A friend who lives in Santa Fe recommended this restaurant for us to try since it was near the hotel we were staying at a week or so ago. My son and I were in town for a funeral and were glad we got to try Bamboo. We were able to walk in for lunch on a Saturday and get a table quickly. The service was great. The place was nicely decorated and clean. My son ordered a beef banh mi and they accidentally brought us a tofu one, but they quickly brought us a beef one and let us take that one to go. Since we were heading to a funeral and didn't have access to a fridge for a while, they were kind enough to store our leftovers for us so we could pick them afterwards. We really enjoyed the protein platter, lime juice (so refreshing), spring rolls, and the banh mi sandwich. Highly recommend going to Bamboo if you are in the area!

Good morning, fans! We can put the Super Bowl behind us and get back to some serious eating in Central New Mexico. Where? Let us recommend our newest (to us) great establishment, Bamboo by Kulantro. Conveniently located in a strip mall near Menaul and Louisiana, NW, this Asian fusion restaurant is a cut above the rest. Food? Out of the world. The best meats you can find in this type of establishment - hefty chunks of beef, pork, and chicken, skewed and barbequed to perfection. Fresh vegetables without kale. Friendly service from family members. Ample parking and seating indoors in a pleasant atmosphere. The good news is that they have another location in the Sawmill and another in the Uptown area. Same food, but the location on Menaul will shift its function to food preparation. The staff advised us that the Uptown location will be better suited to serve guests. Menaul will still serve diners, but with a limited menu. This place is great and has our highest possible recommendations. Why? Click on the following YouTube video and watch the boys (and one girl) from the VA Creative Writing Group tell you: https://youtu.be/SpLa_s6S0tw?si=YEz2tD7O859nAdyH

Bamboo by Kulantro peaked my interest after reading great reviews about it at Sawmill. We arrived after peak lunch hours. We were the only customers and were helped while the staff ate lunch (very authentic). Our server was very sweet and prompt. We ordered so much food bc we wanted to try everything! We ordered Tofu Spring Rolls ($7.50), Crispy Egg Rolls ($7.50), Kulantro Pho (~$18), Bun Bo Hue ($14.50), and a Chicken Banh Mi ($7.50). Everything came in a timely manner. We had the appetizers first. The dipping sauces for the appetizers were amazing. I personally liked the Crispy Egg Rolls more than the Spring Rolls (didn't have herbs, just Spring mix and noodles). The presentations were lovely though. We didn't touch the Banh Mi and saved it for later once the soups arrived. I was so excited bc my Bun Bo Hue had all of the Vietnamese Style fixings, down to the pork blood and bologna. The flavor was so good, I couldn't stop eating it. Their sides of herbs and purple cabbage was the perfect pairing. BIL said he liked his Pho, but wish it was more savory. He liked my soup and said he'd get mine next time. I took my leftovers To-Go and it filled up the entire 32oz container! I think it was definitely worth it! Overall, first impression I thought it had a clean and nice ambiance, but the prices were a bit steep, especially bc there was only 1 size for everything. But the portions seem reasonable or generous. It could also be bc of its location near Coronado Mall. I definitely recommend getting the Bun Bo Hue Vietnamese Style (Spicy Lemongrass Beef Soup). It's not too spicy and it's delicious. Side Note: The Chicken Banh Mi had a lot of flavor and was delicious.

Great value with large proportion. Highly recommend the protein plater, very tasty. The only reason that I don't give five star is that some of the beef tendons in the pho were too hard to chew.

Still one of my favorite eateries when I'm in Albuquerque. Solid food, very good value, simple environment. No frills just great food! Service is fast and efficient as usual

Somehow I just remember this place being better. I mean the food is prepared well. I ate a protein plate. I'm just going to say that you need to have a lot of patience to eat in here. You'll probably have a better experience ordering to go. I have come twice recently to make sure that it was just like an off day.... It wasn't just have patience.

Very nice staff, filling and comforting food, and a really nice time overall! Super authentic food. Area could be better. Didn't feel that safe walking around out there. The restaurant was low-key + chill.

Delicious! If you like Kulantro in Sawmill you will like this place. We actually preferred this place because it is quieter than Sawmill. Great food, kind and attentive staff, and can't wait to go again.

    #2 with Grilled Chicken

Yummy!! Not all Vietnamese restaurants are alike and this one IS different!! The interiors are simple, modern, attractive and tables weren't cramped together like many now days. But it's the food and presentation that makes them different. We both got the #2 but with different grilled meats on skewers. One w Chicken and the other Pork. The presentation was wonderful served in big serving bowls. The flavors were really delicious and each came with a crispy egg roll on top. The #2 was $15.99 so not bad for such a nice dinner and big bowl presentation. The service was very good and polite. We got there at 6:15 and we were the only table then 2 other groups came in for dinner time. Yes, We will definitely be back to try other dishes. And I do recommend the #2. Next time it's Pho! ;)

First the food. It was absolutely fabulous. The appetizers were perfectly crispy and the sauce was not overpowering - they let the chicken do the talking. The broth was spicy but a little oily tasting. I was sweating the whole time which was awesome! The veggies, meats and mushrooms all had great flavor. This place was obviously using fresh ingredients. I'm sharing a copy of my bill so you can see that they itemize for things like the sauce/ ice cream bar as well as the cc fee. I like when restaurants do this because it means that they don't make everyone pay for things if they don't want those things. It means that this restaurant is going the extra mile to provide a good value. We were impressed and we'll be back for more awesome food and excellent service!

I chose to make-my-own: seafood bowl over cabbage- (Shrimp, Squid, Artificial Crab Legs). I added the seasoning I prefer on each layer of the meat... (garlic, ginger, crushed red peppers.) Then pick from the vegetables, I chose summer yellow squash, Water chestnuts, bean sprouts, and yellow onions). Next option was Sauces and I like mine pretty saucy. Dragon Sauce mixed with Sesame Sauce, and more Garlic water... added a small bit of 3G Sauce to liven it up... and wallah! Asked they add Sesame Seeds to the end. Spectacular Meal! So let's talk about the store front... The restaurant looked cleaned and taken care of. There was one bucket catching rain drips, but clearly marked. The booths and tables were comfortable and well maintained. When we entered, there was no hostess, seems the wait staff rotate to seat guests. When we arrived there were 4 other parties ahead of us, but it went reasonably (about 3-5 min). The bathroom plumbing is fixed. The bathrooms no longer smell like raw sewage (yes I know it was a big turn off for many including me.) Now our waitress, was kind and seemed a bit busy. Her checking in wasn't quite as frequent as we would have preferred. Our drinks sat empty for a while while eating. When she did come by she told us she would be back with refills and was off again. We received refills so not all is lost. Food quality says we will go back and try again. It is Valentine's Day so I don't know if they were busier than expected or just a typical Saturday crowd. We have seen the restaurant empty, and other times busy. This was moderately busy but not packed. I smiled as a group of older ladies was out enjoying a meal and laughing and joking. I smiled and appreciated 6 ladies enjoying friendship, so here's your reminder to enjoy the little things and have a great day smiling & laughing today.

You order your base, (rice, cabbage, or udon noodles). You get a ticket and a small metal bowl. You fill your bowl with the ingredients you want them to cook for you and give the chefs your ticket. Food will be brought to you. I was hoping for a different kind of noodle; not a fan of udon. So, I got white rice. My sister said that the metal bowls had gotten smaller. I was kinda shocked at the size of them. I accepted the challenge. I got plenty of stuff into and on top of that bowl! You are asked to put on gloves and take a tray, as you choose your bowl ingredients. I appreciate that, but there is still going to be cross-contamination. I was pleased at the variety of items that you can add, including pepperoni and different sauces. The sauce station, however, is a little messy. People were spilling stuff trying to pour sauces into the little metal cups provided. Perhaps putting sauces in squirt bottles would be a little easier. I have seen some places that have "recipes" that tell you how much of an ingredient to create a certain profile. Food was cooked pretty quickly. Our waiter was the only one working. He did check on us, but forgot to refill my soda, so he took it off the bill. I appreciated that. I might go back, but there are so many good food places in ABQ that I wouldn't rush back.
