    Chicken Pho
    Michelle B.

Love this local family business! I placed a first-time order on the phone, and they did not require payment or a phone number, just my name. The order pickup time was very speedy, and when I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming. I had Pho with chicken, which was very good and a very large portion. As other reviews have mentioned, the broth had a bit of a sweet taste compared to others I have had across the country, but it made the dish unique. The accouterments were all vibrantly fresh: basil, sprouts, peppers, green onions, etc. The white meat chicken was sliced thin and was plentiful. I would recommend Viet's Pho based on the quality of the food, presentation, and service!

This place is always been a favorite of mine but the last two visits understaffed long waits. Lots of excuses couldn't even get me my drink cause they said they only had two staff members this evening. I mean the food is solid so if you have a really long time to wait and you're not concerned about getting everything you ordered this is a place

Was in town visiting and DIL was craving some pho. Popped into the stand alone restaurant that was fairly busy for a Friday night. The servers are nice food came out quickly (except for the Vietnamese sandwich we later ordered but I think they quickly forgot about it!). The ambiance had a nice family feel to it. We ordered the number 9 and 10 and an order of egg rolls. There was a decent amount of meat with the pho but the reason for the 3 stars is because the broth was a bit too sweet. I tried off setting it with the lime which helped a little bit the broth didn't have a depth of flavor to it. The noodles and meat were decent but the broth didn't cut it. Also, $5 for two egg rolls is a bit pricey. The egg rolls were tasty. They were tightly packed and the flavors subtle. A nice crunch to them but it wasn't worth the price point. Also ordered a Vietnamese sandwich to bring back. The sandwich was small and the even though it was grilled pork it tasted more like cha siu. It had a good crunch but it needed just a tad more radish, carrot, and cilantro. Overall, everything was pretty good for Albuquerque. Comparing it to the San Francisco Bay Area it was all right but it's tough to find a good spot in Albuquerque to meet your Asian food cravings. We would probably come back but I think I'd try something else besides the pho next time.

I came straight here from the airport, en route to my hotel, to place a to go order. Private and plenty of parking. Restaurant is large with many booths and tables. I was greeted immediately and the staff is really friendly. I ordered the nem nuong (grilled Pork) spring rolls, papaya salad with chicken and braised pork in a clay pot (called Thit Kho). They got my order wrong and packed the pork with soggy cabbage. Major disappointment. The papaya salad with chicken was average. I was told that their pork in clay pot was Thit Kho which is a lie! Thit Kho is braised pork belly with eggs. This dish was maybe pork, strips, not tender. No eggs. It was not good. I'm really disappointed in my dinner tonight.

Where do you go to eat after getting out of the hospital the second time in a week??? (I'm ok now!) To get some late night pho. We chose Viet's Pho and even though we got there shortly before closing, we were served quickly and were delighted with our order! (This was one portion of rare beef (don't worry y'all the broth is so hot the meat actually cooks inside of it and the fun part about ordering this is you get to see the color change as it cooks up!) so both of us shared and it was a perfect amount! I loved the green bamboo wallpaper and the warm atmosphere of the dining room. The bathroom was very clean too! (Which is so important when reviewing restaurants - a trick I learned from my dad, who also enjoys food!) We look forward to coming back for a future visit! #gourmetrecovery #foodfreedom #intuitiveeating #gentlenutrition #allfoodsfit #dietculturedropout

Food service and ambience all excellent. I had the rare beef pho with a heaping plate of garnishments. The portions are enough to fee four. Highly recommend.

It is always hard to find a place that can make pho the right way. I found this place on Yelp while I was away on business and thought I would give it a try. First, it is a family business. Bonus points for small establishments that have made it through the pandemic. Family businesses take a lot of pride in their work. This is evident when you walk into this place. There were a lot of people here for a Thursday night. It was obvious that several were regulars the way they interacted with staff. The spring rolls were good but it was the peanut sauce that really made them spectacular. There was a lot of different dishes to choosen on the menu. I had the chicken pho. It was loaded with meat; they didn't skimp on this. More than I am used to with most places in LA. That was a pleasant surprise. At the end of the meal, the check was surprisingly reasonable. Great price for the meal.

I don't know why I didn't realize this sooner, but I hadn't had Vietnamese food for quite the longest time and possibly a few years specifically at Viet Pho's until tonight! I was running errands all day until...on the way to the gym, I realized I hadn't eaten all day and that going to the gym with a growing stomach would be bad for me. So, out of whim, I made an executive decision to turn to Viet's Pho and chose to eat instead of gymming. Best decision ever..and I felt the food at Viet's Pho really hit the spot for me! I had a Banh Xeo (with pork and shrimp---the usual thing how people in Vietnam usually eat) and...it was wonderful. I wouldn't say it was 100% the same as what places in Vietnam have (for example, the tumeric taste wasn't as strong and the veggie garnishes weren't all complete, the way the meats were sliced in a banh xeo was different). But, hey, we are in ABQ, not Vietnam...so I expected some minor adaptations here! That said, the food was still flavorful..and I wolfed down the Banh Xeo in one go even though the serving portion was actually quite generous! Definitely hit the spot for me! The service was also very nice. The staff were attentive from taking orders, checking in with you on what you may need..and anticipating all your needs. Best of all...I still think it's one of the best values out there (definitely reasonable prices). I think with the Banh Xeo and refillable soda, it came to just over $16 with taxes included (I ended up paying slightly over $20 for a wholesome, healthy and very satisfying meal!). On the way to the gym and back home, I kept asking myself..why hadn't I stopped by Viet's Pho more frequently?!?!? .and I think this thought will keep bugging and will cause me to make multiple impulsive decisions to stop by this place again and again in the future because of such a great experience + food there!

One of our favorite places to visit! Anything I've ever ordered here has been on point! The waitresses all know us and our son and greet us like close friends which we love! It's always nice to feel welcome and appreciated! It's always warm and smells so good there! I love getting the med rare beef pho or the chicken with Eggroll noodle bowl. My husband loves to get the stir fried rice noodles and my son absolutely loves the chicken fried rice. Also must add that the shrimp spring rolls with the peanut sauce is absolutely a must have! Get extra peanut sauce... it's sooo tasty!

This is my go to in the Uptown area. Their pho is always reliably delicious. The broth is rich with a tiny bit of sweetness from the basil, which easily marries into the spicy jalapenos and spicy sauce. This locally-owned restaurant and its staff make you feel at home. It is no surprise that the place will be bustling during lunch hours, but you will still receive great service.

The cold cuts were flavorful, the bread was fresh, and the meat to bread ratio was just right since I like more meat than bread. This is an excellent option for a quick lunch, but I would recommend staying to eat if you can. The decor is simple, the space is clean, and there are a few tables available. It does get busy during the lunch rush, but the line moves quickly and is well worth the wait. While the banh mi definitely steals the show, there are plenty of other options on the menu. Their banh cuon, thin rice noodles filled with ground pork and wood ear mushrooms, was good, though still second to the sandwiches. They also offer pate chau, a flaky puff pastry filled with pork pate, including a New Mexico style version with chicken and green chile. They have a variety of Vietnamese desserts like che, which I did not get a chance to try this time. My coworker loved their traditional Vietnamese hot coffee. I do not drink coffee, but I did enjoy one of their smoothies, which was refreshing and delicious. Overall, CODA Bakery is a go to spot for authentic Vietnamese flavors and one of the best places in Albuquerque for banh mi.

It's not down to an agreed list of two or three. When you open up the question, you get a dozen or more answers. That situation can mean many or all of several things: (1) Maybe Albuquerque really is VN food heaven; (2) Maybe there is no consensus on what constitutes really good VN food; or (3) Maybe most people pick the first VN restaurant they like and stick with it. I did #3 for years, sticking with Vietnam 200 and Viet Taste. Well, things change -- great restaurants slip and deliver mediocre experiences. Or we just get tired of same old, same old, and want to look around. I began looking around with a trip to Saigon City, an old restaurant in a slick new location in the same strip with Pars Middle Eastern restaurant in 25 Way. I went last night with my daughter and son-in-law, both experienced eaters. I previewed their menu on their website (a good thing when faced with a huge menu). I selected three items I wanted to try. Leaving the Pho for a later trip, I chose to begin with the green mussels stir fried and dished up with spicy veggie bits. There were six on the plate. I had to move quickly to get two of them. What a treat! I could make a meal of a plate of six of these. Next, I went for B3, the code for grilled chicken and veggies over vermicelli noodles with chili sauce. I like my food spicy. After the mussels, my hopes were up. Well, B3 was a very tasty dish. I would order it again anytime. Fresh, fresh, fresh. But pretty mild in the spice category. The chicken was nicely spiced, and there were red flakes in the vermicelli noodles, but not nearly enough of them. I tried my daughter's pork and vermicelli and thought it a bit better. We finished the meal with sicky rice & mango. The menu offers only sticky rice and banana, which is itself a very nice dessert, but our server mentioned that we could have mango instead for slightly higher charge. Since sticky rice with mango in coconut sauce is one of the five greatest desserts in the world, I went for it with gusto. This dish was the only slight stumble in the meal. I thought the rice was a bit underdone and the sauce not too thrilling. Not bad, but not at the standard set by the other dishes. I look forward to returning soon to try the pho. The service was very good, very friendly, and very helpful. I recommend sitting near the front of the restaurant and away from the service area where the staff conduct loud conversations among themselves. The interior of the restaurant is very nicely decorated and lighted. I was very comfortable eating at this fine restaurant.
