Okay first time / carryout experience. The woman who answered my call was very patient and helpful. The time estimate she provided was accurate, and nothing in the carryout packaging spilled or leaked. I've never had my phone meat packaged in the same container as the broth - usually they are kept separate - and I think it made the steak a bit dryer. Regardless, it wasn't tough, and the broth tasted good. Not my new go-to, but it hit the spot on a cold night. Husband got the pho ga. His chicken was packaged separately from the broth, but he wasn't convinced it was fully cooked, so he (re)boiled his broth before eating. The egg rolls were tasty and crispy except where they were touching a bed of lettuce in the container. The meal was fresh and flavorful, with a sweet and spicy, citrusy chile sauce to pour over. The broccoli was cooked just right, and so was the fried tofu. I really liked the crushed peanut topping and I believe fresh mint and basil as well. I would get this again. read more

My friend and I went to get Pho here after a recommendation from a Vietnamese friend. She said it is her go-to spot in ABQ for authentic Vietnamese food that isn't made in her kitchen. It's your typical Pho-style restaurant. Booths and tables with Asian decor. The server was very nice and patient with us. I got a regular size of the Mi Hai San (a combination bowl of seafood egg noodle soup of prawn shrimp, crab, squid, fish ball, mussel, and scallop. Served with an asian donut). The asian donut was crispy and delicious. The Mi Hai San was hot, tasty, and super fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal as did my friend. I have been here several more times since this, I have also gotten their food to-go. It is just as delicious. read more

I'm always a bit hesitant at Asian restaurants because they sneak in meat-y bits into foods/sauces quite a bit so I try pretty hard to explore menus and reviews before I go. A friend of mine adores this place and goes all the time and finally convinced me to try it. I'm so glad I did. The food was absolutely delightful and the service was great. The vegetarian options are truly vegetarian or can be, you may still have to ask some questions to make sure depending on the dish, but the servers are happy to answer and do seem to know the details quite well. I was quite pleased with my food. Not to mention the portion sizes were huge! Wow, I'm pretty sure I had leftovers for two days after my visit. While the broth had good flavor, especially with the chili oil, the portion just didn't match the price. I have never seen such a lack of consensus on any issue like on the question of which is the best Vietnamese (VN) restaurant in Albuquerque. It's not down to an agreed list of two or three. When you open up the question, you get a dozen or more answers. That situation can mean many or all of several things: (1) Maybe Albuquerque really is VN food heaven; (2) Maybe there is no consensus on what constitutes really good VN food; or (3) Maybe most people pick the first VN restaurant they like and stick with it. I did #3 for years, sticking with Vietnam 200 and Viet Taste. Well, things change -- great restaurants slip and deliver mediocre experiences. Or we just get tired of same old, same old, and want to look around. I began looking around with a trip to Saigon City, an old restaurant in a slick new location in the same strip with Pars Middle Eastern restaurant in 25 Way. I went last night with my daughter and son-in-law, both experienced eaters. I previewed their menu on their website (a good thing when faced with a huge menu). I selected three items I wanted to try. Leaving the Pho for a later trip, I chose to begin with the green mussels stir fried and dished up with spicy veggie bits. There were six on the plate. I had to move quickly to get two of them. What a treat! I could make a meal of a plate of six of these. Next, I went for B3, the code for grilled chicken and veggies over vermicelli noodles with chili sauce. I like my food spicy. After the mussels, my hopes were up. Well, B3 was a very tasty dish. I would order it again anytime. Fresh, fresh, fresh. But pretty mild in the spice category. The chicken was nicely spiced, and there were red flakes in the vermicelli noodles, but not nearly enough of them. I tried my daughter's pork and vermicelli and thought it a bit better. We finished the meal with sicky rice & mango. The menu offers only sticky rice and banana, which is itself a very nice dessert, but our server mentioned that we could have mango instead for slightly higher charge. Since sticky rice with mango in coconut sauce is one of the five greatest desserts in the world, I went for it with gusto. This dish was the only slight stumble in the meal. I thought the rice was a bit underdone and the sauce not too thrilling. Not bad, but not at the standard set by the other dishes. I look forward to returning soon to try the pho. The service was very good, very friendly, and very helpful. I recommend sitting near the front of the restaurant and away from the service area where the staff conduct loud conversations among themselves. I picked up food to go. I am from out of town and love Vietnamese food. In So Calif there is very good Asian Cuisines. I tried A8 the chicken wings. Way overcooked! But the sauce was outstanding!!! If they were cooked properly, this would have been the highlight. Also tried H13 Bahn Xeo which is not something I wouldve thought I would find in New Mex. Looked great. Fresh veggies as you would get in Vietnam. Lettuce, cilantro, Thai Basil, mint and pickled carrots and cucumbers. It was tasty but the pancake filling was just average. The dipping sauce was very good. Eaten all together, its was good. Next was MX13 flank steak w stir-fried noodle. Decent but more like Chinese chow mein. For Vietnamese food in New Mexico 4 stars, its not bad. But compared to So Cal and what I am used to I would rate it 3 stars. If you are in the mood for Vietnamese food, give it a tried. My favorite cuisine, hands-down, is Vietnamese! I can literally eat it every day, three times a day, that's how much I love it!! Tonight, I placed a to go order that included one order of the eggrolls A1 for $5.25, jelly fish with pork salad A11 for $13.95 and a large shaken beef "bo luc lac" CC9 $21.95. I was starving when I picked up the food because I went to the wrong location. I took a bite of the egg roll without the fish sauce. Without the fish sauce, it lacks flavor. I also feel that they're very small for the price of $5.25 for two. I was especially excited about the jellyfish and pork salad. Unfortunately, I was disappointed as it was mushy and the ingredients didn't make sense. I wouldn't order the salad again. Lastly, I've eaten shaken beef at least 50 times. My mom is the best cook and her shaken beef is delicious. The beef was extremely dry, tough and lacked flavor. Most shaken beef have bits of garlic and lemongrass, squares of white onion and possibly red bell peppers. This was BORING & overcooked beef. Luckily, there is a small container of soy sauce with chili in it to liven up the flavor. Also, I ordered the large size for $21.95. Can't imagine what a "small" size would be. I came here on a trip and I love Vietnamese food the menu was very different from what I'm used to ( good different) it took a little bit the waitress was very helpful by letting me know they could accommodate they have gluten free alternative for soy sauce. Or anything else I had questions. My allergies are wheat gluten dairy and soy and the food was very flavorful and they accommodated well. The resturant was cute and classy. This is by far my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Albuquerque. I went here with a friend and was not disappointed. The restaurant is very large with plenty of seating for large groups. The service was friendly and attentive. The menu is massive and has a lot of authentic dishes that you can't find at most Vietnamese restaurants. I had the sautéed lemongrass pork and it was so tasty and rich. I also had the salted lime soda and this was one of the oddest tasty drinks I have ever had. I highly recommend this place. read more

Beware of the bait and switch. The prices on the menu is not what they charge you. When I asked if the egg rolls were $3.95 on the menu, the waitress couldn't confirm and had to look on the computer for the price. She said it costs $4.50 if we shared the appetizer but $3.95 if we didn't??? Wow! Supposedly they haven't updated their menu to reflect current prices. However, I read a review from two months ago that had the same experience. How long does it take a restaurant to set it's prices? Because we had a party of 5, they automatically charged a 20% tip. And when the bill came out, they asked for an additional tip on top of the mandatory 20%! With that said, the pho was ok but the broth was too sweet. The egg rolls were tough and chewy. We went back for lunch about a week later since we enjoyed the first time so much. This time I tried the sardine banh mi (Banh Mi Ca Moi); it was ground sardines instead of layered full pieces. While I really enjoyed it, I liked the grilled pork from last visit better. The banh mi was still done well, of course, but the flavor is subjective to the patron. If you're craving sardines, go for it! The baguette was toasty and warm and the veggies crisp and cool. We shared an MX1 - Mi Xao Chay, which is deep fried tofu and assorted Vietnamese vegetables stir fried with egg noodles in a ginger and garlic sauce. Delicious! We each got a banh mi, Sprite, and split the MX1. It all came to just under $30 before tip ($29.04). So worth it! read more

I'd read some great reviews of this place here on Yelp and decided to try it when I was out running errands one day. I chose...wisely. I like to try the vermicelli bowls when I visit a new-to-me Vietnamese restaurant, so I chose the grilled pork and shrimp bowl. I loved the combination of fresh herbs, marinated shredded carrot and daikon, perfectly cooked rice noodles, and fabulous pork and shrimp. I poured a little nuoc cham over the top, mixed everything together, and dug in. The blend of flavors was remarkable, and I very much enjoyed my lunch. It was delicious and service was also great with very friendly staff who share great recommendations. For drinks, highly recommend the soursop shake (mango shake was also tasty) and the salted lime drink (very refreshing, though the salt might be an acquired taste). Long established in the International District, this was my first foray into Vietnamese food in the Duke City, and nothing -- absolutely nothing -- has compared in the many years since. I recently reignited my abiding crush on their charred meats and bright veggies with a takeout order from their new, gentrified locale by I-25 and Jefferson. I ordered for a crowd, a huge weekend spread including rice, vermicelli, spring rolls, wangs, bok choy and seafood. Thankfully, the relocation hasn't dimmed the standout flavors coming out of the kitchen, even if the kind but withdrawn host wasn't there to greet me. What astounds me, to this day, is that I've yet to try the pho. If the soup's as good as the rest of the menu, my appreciation for the competition will likely be ruined. So maybe not. I really hoped to give this place a stellar review. Maybe I should have just stayed ordering take out. I had this place a few times at the onset to the pandemic. The BBH quickly became one of my favorite dishes. I decided to come in and try the dine in recently and it was just a mixed bag that ended with having a bad taste in my mouth (and not from the food). So I wanted my favorite dish knowing full well everything that was in it. The waitress was being hesitant and asked me a few times "are you surrrre you want that? It has pork blood and pork feet..." I caught a vibe that maybe there was a reason for her to be steering me away from this dish. I decided to order something else which was the combination meat with egg noodles. My plate shows up and literally has a few small chunks of chicken and beef and one shrimp. Let it be know this was $13.95. Anyhow, it was good despite the price and awful portion size. The bill arrived and hence the reason for what would have been a 5 star review. The lovely staff decided to tack on a 20% gratuity. I usually like to tip at least 20% but I was happy letting this one go as is. After handing the card over and reviewing the receipt copy that needs to be signed, I noticed there was another box asking for more gratuity. Get the chicken wings!!! Such a delicious choice! As was the dish with the green mussels! We also got the Imperial rolls, the P12, and the B12. This restaurant replaced one of our favorite Korean/Thai restaurants that closed before the pandemic. Most of the inside remains the same, and thankfully, one tasty menu was replaced by another tasty one! The pho was delicious but veered towards a sweeter note. It was my first time trying tripe and tendon. The meatballs were a little bouncy and a tad tough, but the slices of beef were delicious!! The bun was also on point, with the grilled pork really stealing the show. With all the appetizers, we had some leftovers, of course. The price point is just right for the taste and quantity of food. This place never fails to provide quality home cooked authentic Asian cuisine. We get the fried rice every time and it is consistently the best in town -we have tried to many. My husband grew up in San Francisco and spent a lot of time in Hong Kong, Tokyo and other parts of Asian and the fried rice from Saigon City is the best. Comfort food at its finest. I am slightly obsessed with their pho and spring rolls. The pho is served with all the fixings and you can add some spicy chili they provide to your liking. The spring rolls are so fresh, my kids like them too. The peanut sauce is my favorite for dipping and the red chili sauce they provide with every order is super spicy so be warned! We get takeout about once or twice a month and it's been great every time. Their menu can be a bit overwhelming but don't let it scare you! One of the worst Vietnamese food I have ever tasted. I asked for a Green Curry. The waitress said they didn't have Green Curry. That was a big warning sign to me. Most Vietnamese places have Green Curry. So I had to order Yellow Curry with chicken. It was one of the worst tasting Chicken Curry that I tasted in my entire life. The extremely thinly cut "chicken" slices didn't even taste like chicken. At first I thought they were thinly cut pork slices but I wasn't sure. It may have been beef for all I know. It was extremely thinly cut slices of some kind of a "blob", I swear. My wife ordered Vermicelli noodle with pork slices and she loved it. At least it was a passing grade for her. But for me, giving this place even a one star was very very difficult for me. It was excruciating. I bet most of the customers here are guests at a nearby hotel. read more
