O! M! G!. Outside of a few areas, really great American mainstream Chinese food is hard to find. Even harder is a place where the food taste, quality, and service come together to impress. We were visiting the "north country" on August 15, 2026. Chinese sounded good and we did the quintessential google search for a place that fit the bill. This was the result that popped up and sounded the best as we're always in the mood for dumplings. XiaoLing's is exceptional. We had egg rolls...good. We had egg flower/egg drop soup - EXCEPTIONALLY wonderful...smooth. velvety. flavorful. We had the Colorful Dumpling Sampler - all were great...even, the all veggie green one. Service 7/5 You read it right, no typo. I've never had service this good at a Chinese restaurant. The servers were super nice, friendly and even held the door open for us as we exited the building. They made small talk, introduced themselves and actually let us know they offer DoorDash service... it's as if they really wanted to boost sales. But it was larger than normal size wise Crispy spicy Fried fish 5/5 Authentic enough to be called Sichuan food. Good portion and good flavors Black garlic ramen 5/5 Not authentic Japanese as this is a Chinese restaurant. They use thick, wavy Chinese noodles not the thin ramen noodles. We decided to try Xiao Ling's Noodles & Dumplings in The Colony for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. We ordered takeout, and our food was ready much faster than expected. When I walked inside to pick up the order, the first thing I noticed was how amazing the place smelled. Everything smelled fresh and homemade, not greasy at all. It immediately gave me a good feeling about the food. For dinner, we ordered the General Tso's Chicken, Orange Chicken, Farmer's Pepper Beef, and the Colorful Combo Dumplings, which included beef, chicken, vegetable, and pork dumplings. The dumplings were a great way to sample different flavors, and every variety was delicious. The General Tso's and Orange Chicken were both flavorful and perfectly cooked. The Farmer's Pepper Beef was a little saltier than our personal preference, but it was still very tasty. The portions were generous, the prices were reasonable, and everything tasted fresh. It's becoming harder to find restaurants that offer both quality and value, and this place delivered on both. We're already planning to come back and work our way through more of the menu. If you're in The Colony and looking for fresh, flavorful Chinese food, Xiao Ling's is definitely worth a visit. read more

So these guys are about a month old, having taken over an old BBQ place. They are open 6 days a week, closed on Tuesdays for some reason. I ordered a Diet Coke and it tasted overly sweet. I asked the waiter if it was actually Diet Coke and he confirmed it was-yuck! I ordered the dumpling combo. They DO say they take 15 minutes but they brought out the other food first. Also, BEWARE, fried dumplings are upcharged $1 which the menu doesn't mention. They were dense and greasy. The chili oil was heavy on the oil and light on the chilis and was inedible. My wife asked for wonton soup broth and after several interactions with confused waiters we got our point across. And... guess what? They forgot the soup. She ordered orange chicken which looked great and tasted horrible. Unidentifiable pieces of grisely dark meat chicken was batter fried and came with mushy white rice. This Chinese spot just opened about a month ago, and I was excited to try it. Overall, a solid experience! We were welcomed by the friendliest and accommodating staff. Combo xiao long bao (chicken & pork) - 4/5 They were served nice and warm and tasted fresh. I just wish there was a bit more soup inside, but still enjoyable. Braised beef noodle soup - 5/5 This was the standout dish. The broth was mellow and savory-perfectly balanced, not overly salty or bland. The beef was tender, and the noodles had a great bite to them. They tasted house-made. Orange chicken - 4/5 Good portion sizes and not overly sauced, which I appreciated. I personally prefer a bit more crunch, but I'm sure others would like that it's not heavily battered. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place. I had the steammed colorful dumpling combo which came with 8 dumplings. Beef chicken pork and vegetable. It was very good. It came out hot and fresh and the sauce that came with it was also excellent. It was served with a very good egg drop soup too. This place looks kind of weird on the outside because of the dark windows but don't let that fool you when you go inside the decor is very nice and clean and the waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. We have visited this fairly new restaurant a couple of times, and we had a taste of their cuisine. The menu is quite extensive, and it notes that some of the noodle, dim sum, and bao items require about a 15-minute wait. Dishes are served as they're prepared, not all at once. Everything looked and tasted fresh. We ordered the chicken lettuce wraps, vegetable eggrolls, scallion pancake, Lanzhou beef noodle soup, and pork scallion dumplings. The soup bowl was HUGE! It looked like it could definitely feed 2 people and maybe even 3, They need to have a option for small or large bowl for the soup. The chicken le ttuce wraps and such a good flavor and was delicious. Hubby liked it so much he kept coming back for more (it was MY entree). There is plenty to share. We normally rate our food on a 1-10 scale, with ten being the best. would say that all dishes were 8 with two exceptions: Lettuce wrap was 8.75, and the vegetable eggrolls was a 4. The filling inside the eggrolls was disappointing. It didn't have as much flavor as I would have liked and the filling was kind of mushy. I only ate one and I definitely wouldn't order them again. I would try the chicken ones to see if they were better. Overall, the food and service was good. We'd definitely visit in the future. read more

Had been hearing about this place on The Colony Chatter fb page for awhile and pass by it all the time and decided I need to finally try it out with a friend. As we were walking in from the parking lot a customer stopped us to tell us how good the food was in there. Great sign!! We made it in an hour before closing time so we happened to be the only people in there. We knew what we wanted so as not to make the staff wait on us. My friend got the Black Garlic Oil combination Ramen and I got the Farmers Pepper Beef with fried noodles. We also ordered beef and pork scallion dumplings (4 of each). When I tell you this food hit the spot and tasted so fresh, savory and juicy... wow is all we could say. The staff was very friendly and our food came out so quickly but still tasted so fresh! I wanted to shake the chefs hand. My friend is a kitchen manager and I'm a big foodie so that's saying a lot with our review of this place!!! I've tried both the beef noodle soup and the assorted noodle soup and both were excellent. The noodles themselves are just the right chewiness. The staff is great, especially Ricky. I actually thought he was related to the owner because he was so caring and attentive. You don't see that a lot these days! I can't say enough about Ricky and I hope management realizes his worth. I really hope this establishment makes it. I've tried most of the local Asian restaurants and would rate this one way up near the top for quality, price, and service. My only suggestion for improvement is to tidy up the back of the restaurant. The parking stalls are slanted in such a way that you're directed to drive behind the restaurant to get back out onto the main road. The back of the restaurant is trashy and detracts from the overall image that you get from the front and the interior (which are both neat and clean). The back has overgrown weeds, trash, and a broken lattice leaning against the wall of the trash bin enclosure. Also, the back of the store has mops and other cleaning equipment scattered and leaning on the wall. All of this really detracts from the rest of the restaurant. Anyway, keep up the great work Ricky! I was pleasantly surprised with this place. The food was legit Sichuan style Chinese food. Their menu contains a large selection of Sichuan dishes. Their spicy popcorn chicken was spot on! For those who don't know what that is... it's a famous dish, give it a try! The pork and shrimp potstickers are delicious. MY QUALIFICATIONS: I consider myself a dumpling connoisseur since I've been to Xi'an and feasted on a dumpling banquet. I'm an avid dumpling lover and heard this spot opened relatively recently so I had to go! FIRST IMPRESSION: The resturaunt is cute and bit smaller than I expected but it was once a fast food joint with a drive-thru and whatnot. The way into the parking lot is difficult to navigate since it shares an entrance with a gas station right off a stop light. The inside is cozy and super clean! I had planned to dine in but with the closing time being so soon I did takeout instead. STAFF/ORDERING: The staff I placed my order with was very attentive and kind. They have a variety of various yummy options and he helped me navigate the paper menu. I ended up with some cream cheese Rangoon (6), pork scallion dumplings steamed (8), and a side order of fried rice. My order came out to about $25 which I find reasonable. They also have a handful of the xiao long bao (soup dumplings) which he says are the most popular. He told me the wait time ~10 minutes and offered water. A bit later he came to check on me and offered me soda. When my takeout was complete he asked me if I'd like chopsticks as well and then walked my order to me. He even held the door open for me! THE FOOD: You could feel the heat radiating from the bag when he handed me my food. The aromas were so good i immediately opened the Rangoon when I got in my car. I ate them but they were so freshly made they kinda burned my mouth. The first bite was so good I ate half of them on the way home. When I got home I spread out the remainder of my dinner on the table. They had given me both a dumpling sauce and a sweet and sour sauce. As for the dumplings, I can say they were delicious and the portion of filling is NOT skimpy and tastes so great!! The fried rice was also very good so I ended up over eating. We had a great experience at Xiaoling's Noodle Dumpling Restaurant. The orange chicken was made with fresh chicken, perfectly crisp, and coated in a sauce with a bright, delicious orange flavor. The beef fried rice noodle dish was very generous--plenty of food--and the beef was tender and cooked just right. The shrimp tempura was light and crispy, and it came with two sauces that complemented it really well. We also tried the takoyaki; it was hot and crisp, but it wasn't quite our favorite--more of a texture preference on our end. Portions here are big, so definitely come hungry. We tried Xiaoling's recently and it was really a nice experience. It's a casual open dining room. Everything was clean and the people were so nice the second we stepped inside. We went during the week so it wasn't packed so service was very attentive. Since it was our first visit we were brought complimentary bowls of egg drop & hot and sour soup to share. I'm not typically a big fan of either but they were both so good! I will order the hot & sour soup again. It had a rich, deep, slightly spicy hit I couldn't get enough of! My daughter liked the egg drop soup the best. The broth was pure roasted chicken, thick & rich. Great start! We ordered the Colorful Combo Dumplings fried. There are 6 on the plate. 2 beef, 2 chicken, 2 veggie. They are literally colored which is the only unfortunate part about the crispy, tasty, fried, veil of batter covering them. You don't get to be dazzled by how pretty they are. They were all really good but the pork was my favorite. We also ordered the Sam Sum dumplings steamed. These are filled with pork, a whole shrimp, & egg. I didn't get any egg & these were our least favorite. Not bad just not our favorite. We ordered the Combo pan-fired bao which are 3 beef & 3 pork buns fried on the bottom. Again, I liked the pork the best, my daughter liked the beef the best. They bring a thick dipping sauce with oil and chilis that taste very much like ancho peppers. Slightly bitter & smoky with a very light "earthy" note I only got once or twice thankfully. It was a really nice change from the average dumpling sauce. We ordered Pork Fried Rice to go for my husband, one of his favorites & he's a snob about it! He was very pleased. Lastly, we took an order of Fried Fresh Milk "custard" for later, too. The custard was a bit strange to me but it was tasty. We ordered a lot, took a lot home and with a generous tip it was still less than 75.00. It seems like a lot but we fed 3 people for 2 days & I even froze some dumplings for another day.
