What an awesome place to celebrate my last night in Greenpoint. We ordered burgers--so good--and rosé, and though we only interacted with the staff while ordering indoors, the service was particularly amazing. (Shout out to CiCi, who was a freaking delight and so kind and generous to my friends and I.) Mid-meal we witnessed a crazy incident involving a bunch of cops who I think were checking liquor licenses in a really unnecessary way. Everyone was completely silent while the 21 GP staff complied with the NYPD but stood their ground and refused to be intimidated. It was a pretty surreal sight--the staff even formed a blockade to prevent them from illegally entering. When the cops left, all the patrons clapped in support of the restaurant and the staff hugged one another. Homer passed out free coconut shrimp and asked all of us if we were okay. One of the many reasons Greenpoint--and 21 Greenpoint specifically--will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thank you guys! read more

Service isn't the greatest but food is good. We had everything on the menu and only disappointment were the mussels that needed more seasoning and the service. The brought food but didn't take plates away. We weren't checked up on. O our lathe salad could feed only one. Won't come back but good nonetheless. read more

Been here two times now. The first one was their 21usd tasting menu they do on Sundays which is simple, tasty and good value for the money. The second time had crab pizza and foie gras fried rice. Would probably been as satisfied with a margherita pizza and paid far less, but the pizza was good. Foie gras reminded me of how shame can feel like seeing an old friend. It was a tad greasy, but very satisfying. I ate too much, but will do so again. The place looks nice, has good cocktails and friendly unpretentious service. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for NYE, for the first time, and had an incredible dinner. The fried chicken was our favorite thing - spicy and savory and delicious. The focaccia and the oysters were also enjoyable. We split the TMNT pizza which was very satisfying. Our dessert was a unique mix - cornbread cake with brown butter ice cream - phenomenal. Out server was very helpful and kind, not pushy. Service was a bit slow, but we probably only noticed because the food came out so quickly. Dim lighting, fun tunes, a very eclectic, aesthetically pleasing layout - 21 greenpoint was a big hit. We had a great time, and will definitely go back. read more

I had the most wonderful early Fathers' Day dinner yesterday with my children and grandchildren at a restaurant in Brooklyn, 21 Greenpoint, which is both the name and the address of the restaurant. The food was excellent; the service was first rate and friendly. An added bonus was that Bill Murray, whose son, Homer, runs the place, was there chatting with customers. He seemed very down-to-earth and genuine. When he saw my grandson Laith crying after a fall, he sent over a much-appreciated dish of ice cream. Some people may go to 21 Greenpoint in the hope of meeting Bill Murray, but they will return because of the quality of the food and service. Jon Taylor read more

This is such a friendly, delicious restaurant. We had the spicey deviled eggs which were yummy, oysters, and the fried chicken to start, with some great drinks. Amazing ambience and friendly service only improved the meal. Then, we shared the puttanesca pizza which was amazing (we love sardines!!). We finished with the divine apple pie. What a tasty ending to a fabulous meal!! Everyone from the chefs we could see in the visible kitchen to the service staff was wonderful and accommodating. What a great restaurant! I don't ever write reviews but this place got me so mad I just had to. I order a latte to start. The white cup comes with a long dark hair stuck to rim and floating in the coffee...visible from about 2 feet away. So I ask for another cup. This time it comes with no hair, great! I drink it, its almond milk. I did not ask for almond milk, one of my friends did. I'm not sending this back because our server looks dour to begin with and I'm thinking I don't want her spitting into the 3rd attempt. I order the vegetarian bowl with 2 fried eggs on top. One of my friends orders the yogurt. The food comes out, everyone gets theirs (there's 10 of us) my friend does not get her yogurt. Our server comes over, "sorry we ran out of yogurt, would you like something else?" No, she would like to sit there with no food while everyone else eats theirs.... You couldn't have said you are out of YOGURT within the past 20 minutes??? My friend places another order and has to sit there and wait another 20 minutes while the rest of us eat. My vegetarian bowl comes in, eggs are great, the quinoa mixture underneath is freezing cold in the middle. Like straight out of the fridge, we nuked it about 2 minutes too few cold. I ask for it to be reheated, please. It comes back hot, thankfully, but watery and gross. I don't finish it. read more

I loved the atmosphere of 21 Greenpoint. When you walk in, you are immediately transformed. The quaint country farmhouse feel is well executed at 21 Greenpoint. The service was great. I had a delicious mimosa made with fresh orange juice (makes a huge difference). The food is where I was disappointed. The portions of this meal were so unbelievably small for brunch. Our party tried the Pancakes, Shakshouka, and the fruit & granola. The pancakes were very tiny, maybe 1/3 an inch tall each, and maybe 5 inches diameter. They looked like a cross between crepes and pancakes. It took my friend four bites to finish the plate. The Shakshouka came with a tiny dish of eggs and meat and two pieces of toast. It was a bit more hearty, but still not what was expected, portion-wise. The fruit & granola was pretty tiny also... a cup of Greek yogurt, a tablespoon of nuts and raisins, plus an ounce of granola. They then added in a few slices of apple. It tasted great, but at $12, was not worth the price tag. We left the restaurant and ate a second meal up the street about an hour later. I would maybe give them a try for dinner or lunch, I did see a cheeseburger go by that looked like a normal human's portion and it looked pretty great. read more

I wanted to love this place based on all the reviews I heard and recommendations we got from friend. But it didn't hit the mark. The bone marrow was totally undercooked and prepared totally wrong. It was like a partially cold bloody jello mold and not the properly prepared hot butter like heaven that is proper bone marrow. The carrot salad was pretty good but an absurdly small portion. It was literally 2 carrots cut in half lengthwise roasted with some salt and pepper and good olive oil. The ragu was pretty good but not amazing and lacked dimensions. It was overly salted shredded pork with noodles and olive oil and little else. Nothing was remarkable and nothing was awful. Just average at best. Sorry. I wanted to love. :( read more

We had to order 10 plates between 6 people and I left not full. Not a fan of the sharing portions that are all appetizer size?! The dishes were all fine with a farm to table dining style and flair. Plus sides, the restaurant has a nice ambiance, but food wise nothing stood out as transcendent. All in all felt pricey without the punch. read more

5 STARS! Came here with my sister for dinner & drinks and everything we ordered was amazing. The shrimp ceviche was delicious, I had the Red Snapper & I am still thinking about it 2 weeks later...dirty martini was perfect, I also had another speacilty house cocktail I can't remember the name but was incredible. The service is what really pulls it all together. The host is welcoming and super happy, we sat at the bar & the bartender was attentive & friendly despite being super busy at the bar...she was on point with everything. The owner himself came & introduced himself & the waiter was great as well. Everyone in here really makes you feel super welcomed & the food was just of great quality, you can tell they take pride in the quality of what is made & the ingridents being used. Prices are also pretty reasonable which is not something that's too common in Greenpoint anymore. Will be back for sure! read more

What a great, out of the way find! Great bar and a terrific menu. If you like oysters, raw or roasted, look no further. Their unique Foie Fried Rice dish served in the cast iron pan that it's cooked in, outrageous! And the Salmon Pastrami on Rye (not a sandwich) but a unique and delicious starter is a must have. So many dishes you won't find elsewhere. We loved the eggplant fries and the steak tartare served on a marrow bone. For pizza lovers, they're all terrific and I found out the owner, is a great, outgoing guy who's been there every time we dined. read more

Danny, a delightfully dapper tour guide to the 21 Greenpoint dinner experience was our server extraordinare, full of accommodations and information and one of those tooth sparkle smiles. There is a palpable comradery permeating all aspects of the staff that reflects a warm welcome onto the patrons. A sure sign of organized and appreciative management. The open kitchen exposes the love that goes into the food as the red-capped Team Zissou kitchen crew practically whistle while they work. We headed over to the bar for some after dinner drinks where Jen and Gareth entertained us with vibrant conversation while mixing magic and booze into mouth-watering concoctions. The owner Homer was the absolute highlight, stirring the cauldron of our unforgettable evening with music, stories and laughs. We left with big smiles, happy bellies and warm hearts. read more

I really don't like to give bad reviews- but when everything is so bad that it becomes comical I must persuade people to look elsewhere. Where to begin.... it was my sisters birthday and I wanted to take her and my family and other sister out for brunch. I was happy to find a spot with good reviews that would take reservations(usually hard to do for brunch- I should have been suspicious). Anyway we went - my kids both ordered pancakes - they had so much baking soda in them neither child would/could eat them - we sent them back and ordered bagels fo them. One of my kids can't eat dairy so I asked for no cream cheese - the other won't eat salmon so we asked for just cream cheese. 20 minutes later one bagel came out with cream cheese. 10 minutes later another with just cream cheese. Sent it back - explained the situation again - 10 minutes later another bagel came out soaked in butter and with salmon - told them AGAIn my kid can't have dairy - that's why I asked for no cream cheese but by then we were all done and waiting to leave. There was no salt and pepper on the table - or any table - so we asked for it - took forever to get it. We ordered coffee - two times (refills) we were not given milk and sugar or a spoon to stir - asked for it - took about 10 minutes and not enough was given for the three coffees- and I had to use my fork to stir. Our dirty plates were never taken off the table - so they sat in front of us the whole time we were waiting for my kids messed up bagels. Then we got the bill and were charged for everything - I told them to correct the bill - it was sent back to us three times before it was corrected . This place is a disaster. I was told the pancakes tasted like baking soda bc they were gluten free - ummmm no- that is not how my gluten free pancakes taste. Or any gluten free pancakes - anywhere. No one apologized or explained why everything was a total mess. I will never go back or recommend this place to anyone. One disappointment after another..... dont go! read more

Dinner at 21 Greenpoint was everything we had hoped for. It is only a short walk from the G train and is right on the water. The restaurant itself is very cute, clean, and cozy. We were seated in the back by the cute french doors. They definitely get bonus points for the great music selection they had playing. In addition to the great ambiance of the place, the food, which inevitably is the most important part of dinner, was so good. We started with oysters, I had the pork chop, and my boyfriend had the summer risotto. The oysters had a delicious red sauce on them that gave them a little kick. The pork chop came on top of this green sauce with I think quinoa, or mustard seeds, I have no idea, all I know was that it tasted like heaven and I couldn't get enough. It added this delectable crunch and extra flavor to the pork chop, which they kindly and artfully cut up for you. And the summer risotto was so delicious as well. It was hearty and light all at the same time, filled with healthy vegetables, but with a delicious buttery taste. My only complaint was that the serving size of these dishes are on the small end, and I and my boyfriend were not completely full at this point. So when our waitress asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu, we gladly said yes. They have a great selection of desserts available, and an assortment of ice creams. We decided to order the Smores Calzone, and asked if they could add a scoop of the chocolate crunch ice cream on top. The waitress' eyes open wide when I asked, and she said "That is such an amazing idea, I like the way you guys roll, of course we can do that". We didn't have to wait too much longer for another server to come and deliver our smores calzone with our ice cream on top, just like we had asked! The thing was huge! The size of a regular pizza, filled with chocolate and marshmallows. This server also remarked on how clever it was to ask for the ice cream on top of the calzone. At first, I was afraid we would had finally bit off more than we could chew, but that certainly was not the case. Between the two of us, we finished it in a few short minutes. It was so dang good. The crust on top and bottom had this unbelievable crispness to it, while simultaneously being soft and chewy. The insides were warm and gooey and the chocolate and marshmallow were a delectable sticky mess. The chocolate crunch ice cream was delicious on its own, but definitely added a wonderful new layer to the calzone, it was a great combination together. Additionally, on top of everything else, we had a few drinks, I had the "son of a coal miner's daughter", I believe that's what it's called, that was a really refreshing bourbon drink, and my boyfriend had two of the draft beers, one a grapefruit wit, and another was an IPA. Both were delicious and really hit the spot. All in all, this was a great dinner and a great experience and we look forward to the next time we can make it out to Greenpoint for dinner. read more

21 Greenpoint has become one of my absolute favorite restaurants in NYC. The food, staff, and atmosphere are all terrific. The menu is incredibly inventive and is always changing based on the whatever amazing local ingredients they can get.
