Went to 22 Bistro to meet up with friends for a drink. I stepped up to the bar to order a beer. Waited a while but eventually ordered and received my beer, paid in cash, and tipped the bartender a buck despite no interaction with him other than taking my request and pouring my glass from the tap. Went back later to order another beer. Waited patiently as I obviously wasn't first in line. However after serving several people in front of me, the same bartender eventually walked up to me, pointed at me and announced to the bar that I only tipped a dollar, he then walked away from me without taking my request for another beer. I was totally at a loss for words and walked away without a drink. When I was younger I worked in a restaurant and bar and normally didn't expect to be tipped unless I felt I provided not just "adequate" but "above average" service. Even then, I never assumed that a tip was mandatory but a reflection of my service to the customer. Apparently, this bartender felt entitled to not only receive a tip but when tipped 10%, felt it appropriate to point and announce to the bar that I was to be punished. I thought his job was to serve drinks and earn tips. He never earned the tip I previously gave him despite him calling me out the next time I stepped up to the bar. He even acknowledged I was next in line before making a point of disrespecting me. Even if he had no intention of promptly serving me, at a minimum he should have kept his mouth shut. What an entitled piece of dung. The owner of the bar should not only be ashamed but should get rid of a bartender that thinks it's appropriate to embarrass customers at their establishment. 22 Bistro has not only lost my future business but I'll be suggesting to my neighbors in the area and friends visiting Palisades to avoid this establishment. read more

Nice place I rate it a solid four stars . Service is very friendly and efficient . Jess our server was very good . We had the tower 16 tuna starter . Very tasty . Mango and wasabi mayo were a nice combination. We ordered wagu sliders . They were good but too much bread and too little beef. Mini buns were also a bit stale . The salad upgrade was exceptional. I hade the House Made Vegan Burger (Quinoa, Beluga Lentils, Black Beans, Roasted Beets, Rolled Oats, and Walnuts Topped With Romaine Lettuce, Sliced Tomato, Grilled Balsamic Red Onion, Vegan 22 Sauce). It comes with chips, but I substituted it for chard. I also asked for no bun and added avocado. I'm a clean eater (most of the time), but I'm not a vegan by any means. Our service had a slow start, but the food and drinks were excellent, way better than what one should expect from a ski resport bar. The Elk Tenderloin Medallions were melt-in-your-mouth good. Other highlights were the chicken wings (with Mary's Chicken), Bloody Mary, and peanut butter fat-washed bourbon (which they make in-house). We enjoyed an end of the day dinner here and sat outside on the patio. There were 7 in our party (5 teens :)). The staff we're great, they were patient and let our crew order like we do. We enjoyed everything from the Bistro Burger, Tuna Tower, Chicken Sandwich, Pulled Pork Sandwich, and a couple orders of kids Mac n cheeses. It was all very good! I have never given any restaurant a one star review but now I have. This is a very simple case in point. This restaurant got one star from me because I got NO service from the folks there. My family and I walked in at around 7pm on a Wednesday looking for dinner. At the time there were maybe 2-3 tables with small parties in the entire restaurant and a few people at the bar. We walked over to the host/hostess stand and there was no one there. After a while the bartender came over to us and sat us down at a table with menus. Then, THAT WAS IT! No one came back to us. No water, or simple "will be with you guys shortly because we are SO busy tonight" or anything. They just didn't show any effort at all. After over 10 minutes of nothingness we just walked out. They should have zero star for zero service, not one. The best part of this experience is that we left there and walked 50 feet to a nice Irish pub which gave us great service and food. So do yourself and your family a big favor and DON'T GO TO 22, try anywhere else. read more

This is a great place to stop in for lunch during your ski trip especially if you are looking for some healthy eats. I only had to wait 5 min for a table. Also if it's a nice day try to sit outside because you will have nice views of the mountain. I ordered the baby kale salad minus the champagne vinaigrette. I substituted with lemons and olive oil instead. Also you have option to add some protein to the salad. I think next time I will add some chicken. The wait staff doesn't know how the food is prepared on the menu when you ask a question. There are several other restaurants in Squaw Valley, I highly suggest trying one of them. Showed up at 7 pm on a Saturday. The place was pretty slow. Got seated and got our drinks just fine. We ordered bacon potato donut holes and Brussel sprouts for appetizers. My husband ordered a burger and I ordered their prime rib special. Doughnut holes were not good, the dipping sauce was very bland as we're the mashed potatoes with little bacon. The Brussel sprouts were fantastic, the fondue dipping sauce Put them over the top. The burger was average. It was marked on the menu as $13, but we got charged $20. The sweet potato fries were above average. The prime rib was tough and grisselly. The mashed potatoes were again bland. The broccillinni had a nice char on it, but no seasoning at all. The horseradish dipping sauce had barely and spice. We watched a table of 6 sit down 10 minutes after us, get all of their food 10 minutes before we did. They provided no salt or pepper on the table. The drinks and service here are good but the place is somewhat a trap. The place is crowded and loud, as well as overpriced. The menu options appear very interesting but the food was not great. At the bottom of the mountain there are a lot of options most of them fall into this category to be fair but i would recommend many of the other spots for food as it will be better or cheaper. I love this place. It's near the lifts and it's a perfect way to start and end a day of shredding. (Well, you start buzzed if you stop by this place around lunchtime before you hit the slopes). The Tower 16 Tuna ($13) was so delicious. This is officially my fave at this spot. It was gone in literally minutes. Think of the best make out session of your life that ended in minutes...you wanna get more but you don't want to seem eager to shed your clothes. In this case, your wallet doesn't want to be too eager to shed some cash. The tuna was fresh (I was pleasantly surprised) and the wonton crisps were perfectly crispy. I loved the touch of sesame flavor in the dressing that they used for the tuna. I didn't love the price for the amount of tuna you get. Still, I highly recommend you try this for your appetizer. The burger was yummy. We asked for medium rare but they made it medium well. Despite that mishap, the flavor was still delicious. I wish the meat patty was a bit bigger. It's about the same size as a Jumbo Jack patty. I read "Kobe" on the menu so I expected a thicker and more tender burger patty. Yelper Sheeple recomendations were right: definitely get the burger with sweet potato fries. Somehow the fries mesh well with the flavor of the burger. I was also a big fan of the ketchup. Loverboy thinks it was too sweet but I liked the "homemade" taste to it. He preferred dipping the fries in their lemon aioli and ranch dressing. The bartenders were super efficient. I liked how they were chill and friendly. Both bartender ladies were cute too (in case you single boys are out for some eye candy after a nice day of riding the powpow or Cali-concrete). Food was served quickly. They checked on us a couple times and made sure my Diet Coke glass was never empty. They even let Loverboy change the channel so he can watch the NBA game. We will definitely be back. We just have to make sure our budget is on point because this place is pricey. read more

We went out to dinner with a party of 10, four of which were kids! The food was excellent and they had a great kids menu. (Could have used a few crayons to keep them busy) I had the tuna tower, raw tuna with wasabi cream, sesame seeds and wonton chips. Fresh, cold, and delicious. My husband had the jackfruit tostadas and he liked them and said they were spicy and delicious. We also had salmon on the table, and other dishes everyone liked. It was a hit with all 10! I had lunch here for a work team offsite. For appetizers, we had the white prawn lettuce wraps with citrus basil sauce, rice noodles, avocado, peanuts, cucumber, carrot and mint and a order of sweet potato fries. The lettuce wraps with shrimp and rice noodles were fresh and delish. I want to make these at home some time. For lunch I had the Kobe beef sliders appetizer, two sliders topped with gorgonzola cheese, caramelized onions and 22 sauce. The sliders were the perfect portion for me and loved the flavor of the gorgonzola cheese on top. Crunchy Texas style toast, flaky grilled white fish and an awesome spread; perfection. We started with chicken satay that would give any Thai restaurant a run for their money. The one thing that would have made our experience better would have been some heaters. It was super cold outside (as expected) and they had no heaters.
