To end the perfect meal... my husband actually coordinated with staff to create "Gender Reveal" pancakes! I didn't realize what they were until I got to the yummy surprise! Their cream is delicious! The masa cakes were definitely the standout item and were absolutely delicious. However, the rest of the dish fell short. The sauce was extremely rich, making it difficult to enjoy or finish the meal. That said, the restaurant itself is adorable, and our waiter was fantastic. The service and atmosphere were both great. While this breakfast wasn't a hit for me, I'll still return and stick with favorites like the fried green tomatoes and taquito salad, which were excellent during my previous visit.

The ambiance was a little ruined for us when we were sat right next to another table just a foot away from us. That's ok if it was crowded but there were plenty of open tables and staff. The service was good. The food came out fast. Just not quite what we like.

Our server was cool and gave some great recommendations. (Caution- if they offer any options not originally mentioned- there is an up charge- and those add up quickly!) Once ordered our food came out pretty quickly and was delicious! Everything was fresh, tasty and fairly priced. Definitely one of our better Diner experiences! My beautiful girlfriend, traveling home from Vancouver, had a morning layover in Austin just recently on a weekday, and I got us a reservation to Paperboy East. Compared to the weekends, their schedule was a lot more open. On the weekends it can be nearly impossible to get a spot unless it's a few weeks in advance. We had a reservation at 8 am right when they opened, and when we walked in, we were seated immediately. The place looks like a modern twist on the old-school diners your grandparents love. There's also an upstairs and downstairs patio. Plenty of space! We were sat at one of the two-person tables. To start, I ordered their house drip coffee while my girlfriend got their "Lil Remi," an iced cappuccino with salted caramel. The black coffee was excellent and flavorful, while my girlfriend thought her Lil Remi was like a milkier shaken espresso that she really liked. From their starters, we ordered their Blueberry Lemon Pop Tart to share. I am a sucker for a homemade Pop Tart, and the jam on the inside was extremely fresh, and the icing and crust of the Pop Tart itself was sturdy and full of flavor. For our entrees, I ordered their Texas Hash with added avocado while my girlfriend ordered their famous Paperboy Pancake with chocolate chips as a full breakfast with bacon and two over-hard eggs. It wasn't a long wait at all to get our food. The Texas hash looked great and was presented quite nicely, which is a shame because I immediately proceeded to mash it all together to make sure every bite had a perfect balance of the roasted pork, sweet potatoes, egg, and avocado. It was very filling and substantial, which is great because I needed it to last me up to dinner. The pancake is the star of the show and is worth the order alone. The flying saucer they serve rises like a cake in the oven and is extremely fluffy. She was surprised with how it was a traditional pancake but loved how moist it was for its size. A perfect pancake to her. A perfect pancake to me because she couldn't finish it, so I took it to go and ate the last few bites immediately after dropping her off at the airport. For being an upscale diner in the prime area of Austin, I knew Paperboy was going to be pricey, but I honestly thought that it would crack $100 before tip between the two of us. I was very happy to see it was not even close to that and cost us about $80 with tip. To me, that felt fair for Austin, and I would pay that price any day of the week for a breakfast like we had. Overall the food here was fine, a bit on the pricier side. Also, the parking here is limited as it is all street parking in an alley.

"Pop Quiz hot shot! There's an Denny's-style diner with delusions of grandeur. They hire a chef to jack with their menu, raise the prices, ritz up the interior and keep the same low standards of service. What do you call it?!" "24 Diner." Yelp has inflicted me with wanderlust. Rather than going somewhere I know is good, I figured we'd try something new. And I got tired of the woman not making a decision. Right off the bat, we were standing at the front for a few minutes, not greeted, seated, nothing. Then our waitress came by and filled the water glasses, but only had about half a glass worth for mine with no ice, said she'd be right back to finish it up. Didn't happen, I literally drained the thing and left it sitting there for several minutes before she saw fit to replenish it. I had the waffles with eggs and ham. Eggs and ham were yummy, the waffle not so much. Weird batter, tasted like sourdough actually. And there was an unacceptable ratio of butter to waffle. Wasn't digging on the maple butter either, it tried to taste like both and tasted like neither. She got the gorgonzola burger with the veggie of the day, the squash. Veggie was fantastic and the bacon and gorgonzola were great. The burger was something out of Swanson's frozen food, best burger in town my left hindquarter. And just for giggles, we asked for a box for the half burger and squash leftover and the gal threw them all out. She offered to get us another but we were tired and fed up. That gesture from the girl was the only thing that saved this review from a one star. If you're hungry late night, go to Kerbey Lane or IHOP, the extra dollars you're going to spend here isn't worth the inferior food and aggravation. read more

As I bask in the balmy breeze on the patio, time seems to slow down, and I find myself in no rush to be anywhere else. The evening traffic has mellowed, and the gentle hum of passersby whispers that spring is in the air. But hold on a minute! It's not 79 degrees inside this oasis of culinary delight; I'm still on the patio. I keep reminding myself of this fact because, in my blissful confusion, I could swear I've been transported to Covington, Kentucky, lounging at my friend's house along the Ohio River. The similarities are uncanny - the temperature, the ambient sounds, and the relaxed vibe of the city. Perhaps it's the dessert that's playing tricks on me. Currently, I'm indulging in the Kentucky Bourbon Pie, and let me tell you, it's a slice of nostalgia served on a flaky crust. Each forkful reveals layers of perfection, much like a deck of cards expertly shuffled. Pecans nestle snugly in a velvety chocolate filling, kissed with a subtle splash of bourbon. It's a decadent treat meant to be shared, but I find myself unwilling to part with a single bite. As with most dining experiences, service is everything. And let me tell you, the young lady who treated me like a Kentucky Derby horse owner was Cheyenne. That's right, here I am lost between Texas and Kentucky, only to learn that the best hospitality is found in Cheyenne. Before walking into a diner, I have very specific expectations of what I'm getting myself into. Now, I see that the word "diner" is in the name of this place, but let's make one thing clear--this is no diner. First of all, it's clean. Almost too clean. What exactly are you trying to hide, 24 "Diner," if that is your real name? If this place was really a diner, there would at least be a finger smudge on the glass door or something. Looking around, I didn't even see anyone's name carved into a table. Second, I didn't see a single employee here that looked like they might be a felon. Every diner has to have at least one felon on the staff, preferably in the kitchen. That's written in thr Constitution. Part of the diner experience is feeling like there is an element of danger, mostly because of that one cook with the shifty eyes that probably has a seedy background. I bet this "diner" makes their employees pass background checks. Ridiculous! At most, one of the staff members might have been detained for a few hours for protesting. Between the cleanliness and the safe employees, I definitely didn't feel like I was in a diner. Then I looked at the menu. No omelettes? NO OMELETTES?! That's just plain outrageous. They did, however, have something on the menu called a frittata. What the hell is a frittata? My autocorrect doesn't even know. I came for diner food, not a Sex and the City themed brunch. Whatever a frittata is, I got one and it sucked. I did really enjoy the employees, though. They were all so sweet and pleasant. Probably because they don't know what it's like to be in jail. Once a culinary haven, a sanctuary of savory delights, this place has now spiraled into a pit of negligence and apathy. For fourteen years, it was my go-to spot, a refuge where I was welcomed with warm smiles and delicious meals. But, alas, those days are long gone. My recent visit was nothing short of a disaster. We sat, abandoned, for 45 excruciating minutes, watching as diners who arrived and ordered long after us were served. Our waiter, a master of incompetence, forgot to place our order. When questioned, he feigned ignorance and promised to check. Yet, my friend's sharp eyes caught him red-handed, punching in our order only then. The fury that followed was matched by the waiter's blatant disregard. No apology, no ownership of his mistake--just a shrug of indifference. Seeking resolution, we asked for the manager. What we got was a ghost, a spineless figure too cowardly to face us. The epitome of ineptitude. To the staff and management: congratulations on alienating a loyal patron. Fourteen years of camaraderie and good food, flushed down the drain by your sheer incompetence. This once-beloved establishment has now become a cautionary tale. Nice going! read more

Their veggie burger has a tart flavor to it from the beets they use, which may not cater to everyone's palette but it's okay. Mine was a tad burnt. The French fries were good. I've also had the grilled cheese which I could not speak higher of, mostly because I always like cheese. Ooey-gooey-cheese between two slices of delicious bread, you can never go wrong. The tomato soup is typically good, but mine came out ridiculously liquidy and watery on two occasions. Breakfast dishes were very typical and weren't really notable. I don't recommend the tuna sandwich, it is too dry also carrying a very tart flavor, which when combined make your mouth kind of pucker as if to say don't do it, don't take another bite. This place is okay, I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone who asks for a good place to eat in Austin. I only eat here when it is late, there is no place else is open, and because of my ongoing hatred of Kerbey lane and disappointment in Magnolia. Suggestions would be grilled cheese with french fries and tomato soup, not a fan of anything else they serve. The 24 actually stands for the hours they are open, and its amazing. Super late night snacks, or brunch, they have it all covered. Hecka legit. The parking can be a bummer, but the trick is to park at whole foods and take a little walk across the street. I have had so many things on the menu here im not sure where to start. Milk shakes are the bomb. Burgers are juicy and tasty. Breakfast all day may be my favorite thing. Chicken and waffles are super good. They have great healthy options too. Big salad with fish is the go-to for me when i need a healthy option, but there are a ton of choices so its great for a group because everyone can find something. There is typically a good wait if you go during prime hours, so expect that... but its worth it. Chill music and TVs on, but i wouldnt pick this place to go watch the game. For being as busy as they constantly are the service is always on point. Typically the manager comes aroudn to the table to ask how everything is. I really really really struggled between a 3 and 4 star so just know my review is truly intended to be 3.5 stars. With that being said I really really want to love this place, I really do. I've been at least 12 to 20 or more times and each time it is exactly like the past. The service, while normally friendly does take entirely too long. Ive been at peek hours and dead hours, all hours really! I am also saddened by the fact that everything on the menu is entirely overpriced. I normally end up ordering a few a la cart items because thats the only way to have a reasonably priced meal. I do enjoy their food (regardless if I just get a scrambled egg and half a waffle every time) at least the food it consistent and Ive never had an issue or have something taste odd. I just really wish I could justify the price of everything on the menu. If everything was say 30% or even 20% cheaper I would love the place but sadly it is not and a 40$ or 50$ meal every day just isn't practical for me and my +1 read more

Eh. The foods delicious. But it taists pretty normal compared to the high prices. The food is equivalent to the taist at Kerby Lane (much cheaper) but there ingredients, and recipes are a bit higher quality and the plates look estheticly nicer. They also have really color palette of menu options. They also have cool creations like the chicken and waffles, breakfast, burgers, salads, etc. And the restaurant had an awesome interior with cool lighting, high ceilings, a bar, and neat tables and chairs. But its really pricy. It's not a place I'd go to for 24 hour service. It's just a hip upscale restaurant for people who like to spend money in Clarksville. Just go to Kerbey Lane if you want pancakes at 4 in the morning and if you have an (I'm broke) mentality. read more

The first time I tried to go eat at 24 Diner they were closing the doors at 2am. Odd considering it says it is open 24/7. I figured I would give it another try since I was passing by on my way home last night. I went ahead and ordered the chicken and waffles since that is all the Yelpers seem to talk about here. Let me tell you I am now a believer. I ordered the half portion and struggled to finish the plate. The syrupy goodness and moist chicken. I even ordered white meat (yes you get an option!) It was A-mazing!!! I had great service and the waiter even asked if I wanted a to-go cup of coffee before I left. I will definitely be back, but it will have to be on days I'm wearing the "fat pants." read more

Although 24 Diner is called 24 Diner and has words on the door that state "open 24 hours", an employee with a stupidly unattended beard will tell you the "blinking sign says diner which has NOTHING to do with being open 24 hours".. Thank you for your contradictory input. Needless to say, after several attempts of enjoying mediocre waffles, I can no longer go to this place for after hours food. Shame, I really thought I had enjoyed past experiences, but I suppose the alcohol had taken a toll! So please, forgive me for recommending this restaurant. It will never be there when you need it.. I'd rather go to Denny's or IHOP (actually open 24 hours), and I truly regret having to say that. read more

My husband and I have been to 24 Diner twice now and it hasn't really been a place we find ourselves pining to go back to. Our food was decent but, coupled with the price, it is far from a bang for your buck. We appreciate the quality and care of the ingredients, but even the simple breakfast options are double the price of any other local spots. I would place the food at a 3.5/5 and service at around the same. The staff we interacted with were kind but seemed overwhelmed and service was very slow. I want to give the benefit of the doubt and say I haven't been hooked **yet** as I haven't explored much of the menu, so we will update soon! read more

This is my forth or fifth time at 24 Diner, and each time it's been good, but this time was great. I sat at the bar, and right away Lisa came and took my order. She quickly got my drinks and checked in several times. She was amazingly nice and totally on top of things. So quick and respectful. I haven't gotten that good of service, not only at 24 Diner, but anywhere. Ever. I saw her give this service to every other person at the bar. Additionally a manager came and checked on me and made sure my food was great, which it very much was. Such an awesome experience and started my day with a smile on my face. read more

i have been here before and had decent service. I went with a group of minorities and got sat outside, waited an hour and 23 minutes for our appetizers and meals TO NOT COME. The waiter never checked on us in between that grace period while the table of 8 sat down after us and finished their meals. Their waiter was speechless while we asked where ours was with our food. When speaking to the night time manager on site, all she could was pseudo smile and say "sorry." She did not offer us the food, any compensation for our wait and just shrug her shoulders of it. Wow. The work diner is very loosely used here. Though the food is casual it is well prepared presented and served. The wine list is outstanding and the fact that this place offers service after hours is a tremendous plus. Everything everyone had at the table was delicious, especially the blue cheese bacon burger, but how could it not be. Anyway if you are looking for a qiock bit of quality downtown without a hassle this is the spot. The one downside is that the title diner is a little misleading as far as the wallet is concerned, but other than that fantastic. read more

We went here over the weekend and really enjoyed it. The salad was large enough for a meal - I forget what it was called but it was basically a cobb salad but it is called something else. Food was fresh and service was great. The roasted chicken was fantastic. Very juicy and moist. Served with mashed potatoes and was incredible. My husband really liked the burger- he ordered the regular cheese burger- they have a few different ones. Not your typical 24 hour diner for sure. As of now. Im going with 4 stars. 2 visits great! 2 crappy. The two good times, food was great (coffee rubbed reuben-yummy). Service was good. Bad two times, first time took over 10 minutes and by that time I was on lunch and as many people know 10 minutes and be as much as 1/3 of your lunch time. Second bad time, after we ordered food it took 40 minutes to get an entree salad out(WTF?!?!?), then for the last item to arrive on the table took another 20 minutes. Unacceptable no matter what, so the mng comp'ed the whole bill. For that alone I'll try it again. read more

I stopped in for a late night meal at 24 Diner and was not disappointed! If you're looking for a spot that gets the classics right, I'd suggest giving them a try. The food really was solid! I had eggs, waffles, and my favorite snack of all time...french fries. The waffle was the winner. It was sweet and fluffy. The whipped butter made it stand out. I'd go back just for these! I sat at the bar and had a nice convo with the team. It made my experience that much more memorable. I hope to be back soon! Bonus points - they do have a parking lot. read more

Sure! Here's a well-balanced Yelp review for 24 Diner: Had a great brunch at 24 Diner! The food was delicious, and the coffee was solid--perfect for a weekend morning. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and efficient, which made the experience even better. Their brown butter on waffles is to die for! The only small downside is the parking--it can be a bit tricky, but it's manageable. Overall, a fantastic spot for brunch with great food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere. My wife and I loved our first experience here last night! Our server Nick was awesome and the food was very good. I had the chicken and waffles with a Firemans 4. She had the chicken pot pie which was great! We have a 11 month old little boy so needless to say sometimes eating out is a challenge, But here everyone was super cool about him being with us. Which makes an experience a lot better when you feel comfortable! I would Highly recommend trying this place and can't wait to go back!! read more

No tomatoes, no croutons nada and the balsamic dressing had film over it, like it had been sitting in the plastic cup for days. When the waitress dropped it off she asked "do you want this"? As if she too knew it was gross. We said no thanks. I ordered the yankee omelette and side of French toast and cheesy hash browns. The hash browns were greasy but decent and toast was good. I cut into the omelette and realized they gave me the Denver (ham, peppers) instead of the yankee (olives, feta, spinach). The waitress was sitting at a table texting so I had to call her over, she told me she had entered it correctly but the kitchen may have messed up. I told her I wasn't sure what happened but this isn't what I ordered and let her know I just wanted to pay for the toast and hash browns. She offered to re make it but I declined and she obliged & walked away. After ten minutes I had to get up and get her (texting again) to cash me out. If it was just one issue I'd be ok but there were many- food quality in the salad, old dressing. poor customer service (texting, not following up). Kitchen screw ups, wrong items brought, mediocre quality. It was bad, I wont be back. And for a place already having issues due to high rent, construction etc I would think quality and customer service would be a focal point. I'd save my money and time if I were you MUCH better options.

The waitstaff and kitchen are not knowledgable enough to keep customers with allergies or celiac disease safe. My experience at the restaurant: My waitress was hesitant with my order but said she would tell the kitchen it was gluten free so they could take precautions. Having a bad feeling, I went up to the manager who explained that the restaurant is "gluten free - ish" meaning they do not have a dedicated fryer (my waitress told me that they did) and that the gluten free panini I ordered would be heated up in the oven and wouldn't touch the panini press. The sandwich came out with the panini press lines on it so it obviously wasn't safe. After speaking with the manager, I didn't feel comfortable eating any of my food. I just paid for the food and let my friends who do not have celiac eat it. If your restaurant is going to have a dedicated gluten free menu, please at least make sure your kitchen staff has been trained to understand cross contact.
